Your userbox

edit

It's looking good! Now make it better. IMHO, do this...

1) The "Hide" works fine, but the horizontal spacing on the "Unhide" needs to be tweaked.

2) Find a way to eliminate the blank space above and below the education boxes.

3) The Pittsburgh box is neither Education nor Programming. Make a place and a heading for it, and for others that you might want to add in the future.

I don't have userboxes myself, and I know nothing about working with them, but I HAVE climbed some Wikipedia learning curves with tables, etc. The curves aren't real steep, there's usually some online help, and it's rewarding when you figure everything out. Lou Sander (talk) 21:34, 27 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

Thanks. I've set the table to have flexible width. What do you think of them now? Amy Z 20:55, 29 June 2011 (UTC)
Moving in the right direction. There ought to be a way to make the columns the same width as the userboxes. (I don't know what it is, though.) I experimented a LOT with tables many months ago. I don't remember much of what I learned, but I saved some examples HERE. You may be able to make some sense of it. Lou Sander (talk) 00:05, 30 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

I saw (on my Watchlist) the massive shrinkage of this page, and thought you might have just wiped a lot of stuff out. But no, you no-longer-a-complete-beginner-Wikipedian, you made an Archive! Nice work. Lou Sander (talk) 21:08, 30 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

Teaching with Wikipedia Workshop at CMU (Aug 15)

edit

Since you are one of the editors in the Category:Wikipedians by alma mater: Carnegie Mellon University, I'd like to invite you to the Teaching with Wikipedia Workshop that will take place at CMU on Aug 15 (this workshop is open to general public, and is a joint imitative of CMU and Pitt). There will be another workshop held at Pitt in the Fall as well. It will cover how to include Wikipedia in one's course (WP:SUP) and also how to become a Wikipedia:Campus Ambassadors. Pennsylvania has currently only one ambassador (myself) and it would be great if we could recruit at least several more. Ambassadors help course instructors, showing them how Wikipedia works, and interact with students. Many current ambassadors come from the body of students, faculty and university staff; it is a fun adventure, and adds to one resume/CV, to boot :) If it sounds interesting, feel free to ask me any questions, or to come to the workshop.--Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| talk 20:06, 9 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for the suggestion

edit

Amy, I changed the link for "signed into law" from a "http" link to an interwiki link. Thanks for the suggestion.

The hyperlinks for three "Past Presidents" are probably not in accordance with the Wikipedia style manual. I could have put those hyperlinks into references but I am not going to. I like the way those links look now and I am going to leave them that way. As far as I am concerned, having the external link arrow symbol at the end of a line of text is perfectly stylish.
