Speedy deletion nomination of Kathryn barger
editIf this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Kathryn barger requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. A tag has been placed on Kathryn Barger, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

The article Kathryn Barger has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references. Under Wikipedia policy, this biography of a living person will be deleted unless it has at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.
If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within seven days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. clpo13(talk) 20:04, 7 October 2015 (UTC)
There were four sources. What else needs to be done? Andersc11 (talk) 20:59, 7 October 2015 (UTC)Andersc11
- It's an ad. "Kathryn Barger’s record of service has won her bi-partisan support" etc. Please see WP:SPAM. NawlinWiki (talk) 21:00, 7 October 2015 (UTC)
"How do I go about restoring it with that part removed?" Andersc11 (talk) 21:04, 7 October 2015 (UTC)Andersc11
- It wouldn't just be that sentence - it would be the entire "Career" and "Endorsements" sections, which are also laudatory and imply that the whole purpose of this article is to promote her candidacy. But beyond that, Ms. Barger has currently never held elected office and is only a candidate for municipal office. She does not appear to meet Wikipedia's notability criteria for politicians at this point, see WP:POLITICIAN. If and when she wins the supervisor's office, it would be appropriate to have an article on her. NawlinWiki (talk) 21:18, 7 October 2015 (UTC)
Then could we just list her as a public figure? I find other individuals on wikipedia who have never held office and are merely candidates for a municipal office? To me, without the endorsements section, this is purely a biography on her. Andersc11 (talk) 21:21, 7 October 2015 (UTC)Andersc11

- To be clear, candidates for local/municipal officer are not automatically notable. They need to pass WP:BIO or WP:GNG the same as any other biographical article. Her service as Chief Deputy Supervisor is not, in and of itself, enough. —C.Fred (talk) 17:44, 8 October 2015 (UTC)
"So running for a seat that has a higher budget and population than many gubernatorial seats does not count as legitimate? Also being Chief of staff to a seat that has a higher budget and population than many gubernatorial seats doesn't count either?"Andersc11 (talk) 17:48, 8 October 2015 (UTC)Andersc11
- It doesn't make her automatically notable. She could still qualify if she meets WP:GNG, but I don't think the two independent sources in the article get her there. That said, if she wins the election, she'll likely qualify as notable. —C.Fred (talk) 18:06, 8 October 2015 (UTC)
- I'm sending the article to draft space to see if it can be salvaged. It's available at Draft:Kathryn Barger. —C.Fred (talk) 18:56, 8 October 2015 (UTC)
