Agreed Measures

Hi Andrew! Sorry if I'm posting this in the wrong place but I saw you thanked me for work on the Agreed Measures page and was wondering if you had any advice for me to get this article upgraded from a stub? Thanks! Bambixie (talk) 09:48, 21 May 2021 (UTC)

FYI - Bambixie asked at Teahouse about upgrading. I jumped it to B-class. David notMD (talk) 14:41, 21 May 2021 (UTC)
  • @Bambixie: I see @David notMD: has beaten me to it, but I agree this looks like a pretty solid B - congratulations! I was delighted to see someone working on some of the Treaty stuff, which doesn't always get the attention it deserves. I've taken the opportunity to put it up for WP:DYK so hopefully it'll have a brief main-page appearance at some point.
Reading it over, I think there's only one substantive query I have, which is the expiry of the Measures - the article says that they ran until 2011, but while there's one sentence in the lead which explains what happens, it's not really mentioned again after that. I've revised the lead a bit to cover this (assuming my understanding is correct - please correct if not!) but it might be worth adding a paragraph just at the end of "bilateral treaties" to tie all this together and explain what happened to the Measures. Otherwise, the reader can be left a bit confused at the end as to their current status.
Otherwise, it all looks pretty great! One stylistic note - it probably doesn't need so much linking - eg "The Agreed Measures strictly prohibited attempted killing, harming, or capturing of native mammals or birds without permit..." - you probably don't need to link common concepts like prohibit, capture, native, permit. It's not a major issue but it helps the reader concentrate a bit more on the more significant links. Andrew Gray (talk) 23:01, 21 May 2021 (UTC)
  • @Andrew Gray: Thank you so much!!! What you added was really great thanks, the reason I didn't talk much about the expiration was because I didn't come across much in my own research! Sorry about the hyperlinks; I had recieved advice from someone else that I didn't have enough! Oops!! Thanks so much for taking a look, I really appreciate it! • Wikimedia previously used the IRC network Freenode. However, due to changes over who controlled the network with reports of a forceful takeover by several ex-staff members, the Wikimedia IRC Group Contacts decided to move to the new Libera Chat network. It has been reported that Wikimedia related channels on Freenode have been forcibly taken over if they pointed members to Libera. There is a migration guide and Wikimedia discussions about this.
