Welcome to Wikipedia. Because we have a policy against usernames which give the impression that the account represents a group, organization or website, I have blocked this account; please take a moment to create a new account with a username that represents only yourself as an individual and which complies with our username policy.

You should also read our conflict of interest guideline and be aware that promotional editing is not acceptable regardless of the username you choose.

If your username does not represent a group, organization or website, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} below this notice.

You may simply create a new account, but you may prefer to change your username to one that complies with our username policy, so that your past contributions are associated with your new username. If you would prefer to change your username, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock-un|new username|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} below this notice. Thank you.  —SMALLJIM  10:23, 17 June 2015 (UTC)Reply

Renamed and unblocked. Please read and comply with WP:COI (including the mandatory disclosure) before editing further, to avoid being reblocked. Thanks, and happy editing. Yamla (talk) 11:54, 27 March 2020 (UTC)Reply

Dear Yamla, I do not wish to directly make edits to the page 'Metropolitan Stock Exchange'. As suggested by the COI policy, I will submit a request to update information on the page. I wasn't aware of this process earlier but I'm now clear on it after having read the policy. I previously claimed that I had no conflict of interest because I wasn't aware of the term in the sense that is used by Wikipedia's COI policy, but now I know better. As far as the promotional and advertorial claim is concerned, I believe you misunderstood me, I simply wish to state that the edits I request are purely to update the information currently being displayed since, most of it is outdated and incomplete to some extent; I believe that falls under Wikipedia's mission to provide complete information to the public.Anette Sayani (talk) 12:32, 2 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

Blocked

edit

As you refused to follow the instructions given and as you are only interested in violating WP:COI, I have blocked you indefinitely. --Yamla (talk) 09:31, 30 March 2020 (UTC)Reply

You have been blocked indefinitely from editing for advertising or promotion. From your contributions, this seems to be your only purpose.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text below the block notice on your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.

This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy).

Request reason:

I, Anette Sayani, was wrongly blocked for reason 'advertising or promotion', however, I am an employee of the organization 'Metropolitan Stock Exchange' and I am not an advertiser. Please unblock my account so I can make factual revisions to the organization page and ensure timely updates of information. Anette Sayani (talk) 12:35, 29 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

Decline reason:

As per Yamla's comment below, you will not be unblocked if you do not address your failure to comply with WP:COI policy (with regards to your conflict of interest regarding your employer). Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 13:24, 29 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

You were warned to read and comply with WP:COI and you refused to do so. You need to explain your refusal. We aren't interested in unblocking you just so you can continue to write about subject areas for which you have a conflict of interest. What other subject areas would you write about if unblocked? --Yamla (talk) 13:17, 29 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

Request reason:

Yamla, I am an employee of the organization 'Metropolitan Stock Exchange' and simply wish to make edits and contributions that are factual. I hold no conflict of interest in this subject and I request you to unblock my account. Anette Sayani (talk) 11:58, 30 April 2020 (UTC)

Decline reason:

As it seems that you misunderstand or have not read the conflict of interest and paid editing policies, there are no grounds to remove the block. I am declining your request. You will likely get only one more chance to request unblock before losing access to this page, so I strongly suggest that you review the policies I have indicated. 331dot (talk) 12:04, 30 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

If you think you hold no conflict of interest, I'm afraid you lack sufficient competence to edit here. It is hard to imagine a more direct conflict of interest than that. --Yamla (talk) 12:00, 30 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

Request reason:

Dear Yamla, I have read and understood the policy, and in adhering to its guidelines, I submit the following information - As per the Wikipedia Conflict of Interest policy, my conflict of interest would fall under the 'Paid Editing' category; I am an employee of the organization 'Metropolitan Stock Exchange' and am being duly paid by the organization for my services; the edits I request are made on the behalf of 'Metropolitan Stock Exchange'; the information I contribute to the article is authentic and factual to the best of my knowledge; I have no promotional or advertorial interests in contributing these edits. I hope this information is in accordance with Wikipedia's Conflict of Interest policy and therefore entails that my account be unblocked again. Anette Sayani (talk) 12:01, 2 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

Decline reason:

It seems to me that your only purpose here is advocate for changes to our article about your employer. Since you appear to have no interest in contributing outside of this, and since you have already been told that your conflict of interest precludes you editing this topic, there is no reason to lift the block. You will not be unblocked to write about the Metropolitan Stock Exchange, nor anything else for which you have a conflict of interest. What else, if anything, do you wish to write about instead? Why did you falsely claim you had no conflict of interest? And why do you now falsely claim you have no promotional or advertorial interests, when you admit you are employed by that organisation? --Yamla (talk) 12:05, 2 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

That actually is not Wikipedia's mission. Wikipedia is not for merely providing information. See WP:5P for information on what Wikipedia is about. 331dot (talk) 12:46, 2 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

Alright, can you please help me out with updating the content of the page 'Metropolitan Stock Exchange'? That page holds outdated and incomplete information. If you refuse to unblock my account; please suggest an alternative solution. Anette Sayani (talk) 16:43, 2 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

I suggest that you use your company website or social media to provide up to the minute current information and allow independent editors to edit. Or, tell what other topics you might edit about in which case you may be permitted to make edit requests. If you have no interest in editing about topics unrelated to your conflict of interest, there us nothing more to be done here. 331dot (talk) 16:54, 2 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

Understood, however, this information I speak of is already up on the company's official website and social media handles. Is there a way for me to make this evident to independent editors through Wikipedia?Anette Sayani (talk) 10:23, 3 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

No, because if you did, they would no longer be independent editors. Wikipedia is primarily interested in what independent reliable sources say about a subject, not what the subject wants to say about itself. You are free to use your company social media accounts to encourage interested persons to follow those sources for up to date current information. Wikipedia does not claim to be a reliable source for current information because, again, we are only interested in what third parties say about a subject. It takes time for those sources to get information. As I said, if you are uninterested in editing about subjects unrelated to your conflict of interest, there is nothing more to be done here. 331dot (talk) 10:57, 3 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

Understood. On a side note, currently, the page displays the following information: 'Key People Latika S Kundu (MD & CEO)'; however, this is highlighted in colour red. I'm guessing the reason behind this is the lack of citation; in an attempt to retain this piece of information; I would like to provide the following source: https://economictimes.indiatimes.com/markets/stocks/news/metropolitan-stock-exchange-names-latika-kundu-as-new-ceo/articleshow/74604156.cms I trust this is a valid form of citation, please correct me if I'm wrong.Anette Sayani (talk) 12:56, 6 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

If you think there are good reasons why you should be unblocked, you should read the guide to appealing blocks, then contact administrators by submitting a request to the Unblock Ticket Request System. If the block is a CheckUser or Oversight block, was made by the Arbitration Committee or to enforce an arbitration decision (arbitration enforcement), or is unsuitable for public discussion, you should appeal to the Arbitration Committee.
Please note that there could be appeals to the unblock ticket request system that have been declined leading to the post of this notice.

The red simply means that there is no article about that individual yet. 331dot (talk) 13:01, 6 May 2020 (UTC)Reply
