Ladybug OVA: Is it true, Or False?

Do you think that when you see this OVA, will it be a series, or a movie? I know that it's been confirmed, and the anime concept was a complete success, which in the year 2015, which was 3 years ago became a CGI TV series and now, became the most worldwide phenomenon, alongside Saban & Hasbro's Power Rangers which also is the secondary world wide phenomenon. My guess, it's an OVA series, based on the original Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir promotional video from 2012, and the current TV show aired in 2015 (3 years later). I'm a fan of Ladybug. And besides, in Sapotis Marinette accidentally held a A Ladybug DVD which shows a picture of anime Ladybug. And they said it might be a potential project, right? And who performed the song the promotional video for Miraculous: Tales Of Ladybug & Cat Noir? I crave knowledge, not power, and I am only after knowledge.PascalMuganyizi (talk) 14:28, 2 August 2018 (UTC)

OVA Ladybug: True or false?

I don't understand what you are trying to figure out. Why would a Ladybug DVD within the cartoon have to do with an OVA? That's like saying the Ladyblog is a real website. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 17:28, 10 August 2018 (UTC)
I'm not saying that the Ladyblog is real, I just found out that There's an easter egg in "Sapotis". The DVD cover that Marinette holding is a 2-D Ladybug in the episode. My guess: An OVA Series. I just found the sources online. PascalMuganyizi (talk) 20:16, 13 August 2018 (UTC)

Regarding a recent edit:

I recently noticed that you undid my edit to Erica Mendez's page a few hours ago, citing, "she wasn't voicing films in 1994 or 1995." Though this technically was true, this was only for a dub to the two films that Viz Media recently prepared this year (most likely via Bang Zoom! Entertainment). Just wanted to bring this up to clear up any confusion. IceWalrus236 (talk) 19:15, 13 August 2018 (UTC)

IceWalrus236, I've added the entries back with their release dates. Thanks for clearing it up. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 20:11, 13 August 2018 (UTC)

Philip Cone Fletcher

Hello, there. I have a redrafted article with more sources, so how do I get it to you for your consideration? Thanks. BeenAroundAWhile (talk) 02:59, 12 August 2018 (UTC)

It's still kind of incoherent. There are still a bunch of one-line statements about his stances that should be combined. Any pastor could make statements like that, and it seems like the only reason this person is notable is because he made a handful of statements about using cosmetics and spooning in public? The evolution one is not notable unless there's something historical about how he said it; many pastors believe there is no conflict between science and the Bible. I would update your edits over at Draft:Philip Cone Fletcher and then you can resubmit that when it's ready. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 13:43, 12 August 2018 (UTC)
I'm also concerned about its WP:BARE notability. Again, what are the aspects about the person that make him Wikipedia notable? AngusWOOF (barksniff) 15:01, 12 August 2018 (UTC)
Thanks for the link. BeenAroundAWhile (talk) 02:15, 17 August 2018 (UTC)

The Irregular at Magic High School

Hello, for the translation of "Mahōka Kōkō no Rettōsei / 魔法科高校の劣等生", the source is several dictionaries. 11 Tom (talk) 18:18, 2 August 2018 (UTC)

11 Tom, the translation as originally provided vs. the translation as you have personally translated using dictionaries is close enough as to not need a second translation. It also doesn't have the "poor / bad", just "poor", and "senior high school" is just "high school". AngusWOOF (barksniff) 17:56, 6 August 2018 (UTC)

Okay, but the translation of "科" (Ka) is missing in the translation of the title. Sorry for the delay. 11 Tom (talk) 11:44, 18 August 2018 (UTC)

Legends of the Hidden Temple end date

I messaged you about when in 1995 Legends of the Hidden Temple last aired and you didn’t seem to have an answer. I tried with a few other users and they didn’t have an answer either. Remember: I’m just trying to figure out when in 1995 Legends last aired. As you can see on the page, no exact end date is given.

Alec Borden (talk) 23:33, 10 August 2018 (UTC)

I don't have anything more specific than the year:
  • Brooks and Marsh [1]
  • Terrace says 1996 [2]

But the show started in 1993 and ran for three seasons with 40 episodes each [3] so whether that ran all in September-December or got spread out into the next year is difficult to figure out. They may have had repeats of the show going on in 1996. Here's a video collector's website that implies it ran until 1996. [4] Nerdist says it ran until 1996 [5] I would skip all the later news articles around the film that assumed it ran from 1996 to 2004. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 00:00, 11 August 2018 (UTC)

I'll add that they probably finished filming in 1994 as Baker moved from Florida to California then at the prompting of Fogg. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 20:31, 15 August 2018 (UTC)
Legends of the Hidden Temple couldn’t have been last shot in late 1994, because the production slate for “The War Fan of the 47 Ronin” says that the show’s third season started production on February 18, 1995. And didn’t I already tell you that June 27 isn’t the correct day in 1995 Legends last aired? A few airdates after June 27 have been confirmed. I also put a link to a news article from August 5, 1995 that gives us two airdates. The show’s last taped episode, “The Jewel-Encrusted Egg of Catherine the Great”, also wasn’t one of the last aired.

SSC cgl - Other Delays

Delays in the conduct of an examination are the commissions fault, I shouldn't be the one to get haggled, to fetch links, for every time the comission fails in its duties. Besides, I'm just leaving a link on the wiki. 146.196.33.231 The exams have been delayed last year [6] and for the 2016 year [7] [8] [9] The 2015 exam results were also delayed [10], 2014 was delayed [11] So this seems to be the norm rather than the exception. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 13:54, 23 August 2018 (UTC)

Request on 04:43:34, 29 August 2018 for assistance on AfC submission by Najuhashish

I am requesting assistance for the clarification of two things: the acronym question and on how this tool is useful.

Hi there, firstly I would like to thank you for reviewing the article and am using this opportunity to clarify your doubts regarding the acronym situation.

"Also is Slader an acronym for something? Is it all caps or not?" No, slader is not an acronym and it is not all caps.

I will definitely try and find more reliable references to quote as you have asked for, however, I have a question regarding "also how schools are adopting this as a tool if useful". How do I answer that? I mean I know the answer, which is that it helps student reference their homework and day to day solutions by comparing it on the site. This is the same as chegg, sparknotes, enotes, except unlike chegg slader is free and lets the students comment or provide their own intake on it. Does it answer your question and will this require any references around the same ballpark?

Thank you for your time, and I am looking forward to your reply.

Najuhashish (talk) 04:43, 29 August 2018 (UTC)

Najuhashish, I'm trying to understand how they picked the name, and why it was in all caps as a template. I added a bunch of sources on the draft talk page, those should help establish notability and reviews of the website. With regards to the schools, I wanted to know if the schools were okay with such a website, or whether they thought it was cheating like using Sparknotes and discouraged students from using it. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 06:15, 29 August 2018 (UTC)
AngusWOOF, I wouldn't know why or how they picked the name 'slader' but it's no acronym, as for why it was in all caps as a template, I think that has to do with some formatting error because I did try to remove that template part but it wouldn't bulge. As for if schools were okay or not with these kinds of websites, that would depend totally on how the website is used. For example if one were to copy an answer straight from Sparknotes, plagiarism scanners would catch hold of it instantaneously and they would be under academic review. But then again publishers such Pearson and Wiley themselves create solution manuals and sell them for their respective course textbooks and schools are totally fine with it as long as they are used for reference and not blatantly copy pasted from it.Najuhashish (talk) 06:38, 29 August 2018 (UTC)

Peggy O'Neal and more

Hi. While adding a reference to Peggy O'Neal, I have noticed that most of the sources come from "Behind the Voice Actors." Once that page gets updated, you can bring some of Peggy's roles out of the Needs Source thing. As for Dorothy and the Wizard of Oz, what official sources do you need in the event that we should add the recurring characters like Glinda the Good Witch and the Munchkins....especially if the Wizard of Oz (who is said to be voiced by Tom Kenny) makes other appearances in the later episodes. --Rtkat3 (talk) 16:11, 30 August 2018 (UTC)

Regarding BTVA, you can only add roles that are confirmed with the green checkmark leading to closing credits screenshots. Sometimes BTVA just lists roles without that confirmation. As for Dorothy, that show does not need a list of the recurring characters. None of the official websites have an extensive list of characters, so please stop adding that. If there are news articles that show notable guest roles you can write up a summary paragraph following the cast such as with Pixels (2015 film). AngusWOOF (barksniff) 16:24, 30 August 2018 (UTC)

DYK for Aya Hirano

On 31 August 2018, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Aya Hirano, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that Aya Hirano played her first role as a voice actress at the age of 14? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Aya Hirano. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, Aya Hirano), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Ways to improve YBN (collective)

Hi, I'm Domdeparis. AngusWOOF, thanks for creating YBN (collective)!

I've just tagged the page, using our page curation tools, as having some issues to fix. This really needs more sources as it seems to be a very loose group based around Nahmir most of whom do not seem notable

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, you can leave a comment on my talk page. Or, for more editing help, talk to the volunteers at the Teahouse.

NPR Newsletter No.13 18 September 2018

Hello AngusWOOF, thank you for your work reviewing New Pages!

The New Page Feed currently has 2700 unreviewed articles, up from just 500 at the start of July. For a while we were falling behind by an average of about 40 articles per day, but we have stabilised more recently. Please review some articles from the back of the queue if you can (Sort by: 'Oldest' at Special:NewPagesFeed), as we are very close to having articles older than one month.

Project news
As part of this project, the feed will have some larger updates to functionality next month. Specifically, ORES predictions will be built in, which will automatically flag articles for potential issues such as vandalism or spam. Copyright violation detection will also be added to the new page feed. See the projects's talk page for more info.
Other
Moving to Draft and Page Mover
  • Some unsuitable new articles can be best reviewed by moving them to the draft space, but reviewers need to do this carefully and sparingly. It is most useful for topics that look like they might have promise, but where the article as written would be unlikely to survive AfD. If the article can be easily fixed, or if the only issue is a lack of sourcing that is easily accessible, tagging or adding sources yourself is preferable. If sources do not appear to be available and the topic does not appear to be notable, tagging for deletion is preferable (PROD/AfD/CSD as appropriate). See additional guidance at WP:DRAFTIFY.
  • If the user moves the draft back to mainspace, or recreates it in mainspace, please do not re-draftify the article (although swapping it to maintain the page history may be advisable in the case of copy-paste moves). AfC is optional except for editors with a clear conflict of interest.
  • Articles that have been created in contravention of our paid-editing-requirements or written from a blatant NPOV perspective, or by authors with a clear COI might also be draftified at discretion.
  • The best tool for draftification is User:Evad37/MoveToDraft.js(info). Kindly adapt the text in the dialogue-pop-up as necessary (the default can also be changed like this). Note that if you do not have the Page Mover userright, the redirect from main will be automatically tagged as CSD R2, but in some cases it might be better to make this a redirect to a different page instead.
  • The Page Mover userright can be useful for New Page Reviewers; occasionally page swapping is needed during NPR activities, and it helps avoid excessive R2 nominations which must be processed by admins. Note that the Page Mover userright has higher requirements than the NPR userright, and is generally given to users active at Requested Moves. Only reviewers who are very experienced and are also very active reviewers are likely to be granted it solely for NPP activities.
List of other useful scripts for New Page Reviewing

  • Twinkle provides a lot of the same functionality as the page curation tools, and some reviewers prefer to use the Twinkle tools for some/all tasks. It can be activated simply in the gadgets section of 'preferences'. There are also a lot of options available at the Twinkle preferences panel after you install the gadget.
  • In terms of other gadgets for NPR, HotCat is worth turning on. It allows you to easily add, remove, and change categories on a page, with name suggestions.
  • MoreMenu also adds a bunch of very useful links for diagnosing and fixing page issues.
  • User:Equazcion/ScriptInstaller.js(info): Installing scripts doesn't have to be complicated. Go to your common.js and copy importScript( 'User:Equazcion/ScriptInstaller.js' ); into an empty line, now you can install all other scripts with the click of a button from the script page! (Note you need to be at the ".js" page for the script for the install button to appear, not the information page)
  • User:TheJosh/Scripts/NewPagePatrol.js(info): Creates a scrolling new pages list at the left side of the page. You can change the number of pages shown by adding the following to the next line on your common.js page (immediately after the line importing this script): npp_num_pages=20; (Recommended 20, but you can use any number from 1 to 50).
  • User:Primefac/revdel.js(info): Is requesting revdel complicated and time consuming? This script helps simplify the process. Just have the Copyvio source URL and go to the history page and collect your diff IDs and you can drop them into the script Popups and it will create a revdel request for you.
  • User:Lourdes/PageCuration.js(info): Creates a "Page Curation" link to Special:NewPagesFeed up near your sandbox link.
  • User:Writ Keeper/Scripts/deletionFinder.js: Creates links next to the title of each page which show up if it has been previously deleted or nominated for deletion.
  • User:Evad37/rater.js(info): A fantastic tool for adding WikiProject templates to article talk pages. If you add: rater_autostartNamespaces = 0; to the next line on your common.js, the prompt will pop up automatically if a page has no Wikiproject templates on the talk page (note: this can be a bit annoying if you review redirects or dab pages commonly).

Go here to remove your name if you wish to opt-out of future mailings. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 23:11, 17 September 2018 (UTC)

Yomi robotic surgery

Hi there, I wanted to let you know I moved your recently approved article back to draft space. I'm truly confounded what about it seemed acceptable to you under WP:NCORP, as the only sources are a PR release, a company listing, and a passing mention in a seemingly niche blog. Anywho, looking forward to your feedback. Drewmutt (^ᴥ^) talk 17:23, 19 September 2018 (UTC)

Drewmutt, see the list of refideas on the talk page. Some of those are significant coverage by secondary sources (State College and Miami Herald). The FDA approval news was plastered all over the major news sites. This is why I think it has potential, but if you want to wait until that information is actually placed into the article, then we can wait for that action. Draft:Jeff Orkin

Hi, thanks for taking the time to review my submission. Any tips you can give me for me on improving this for approval? Wider variety of sources other than MIT? Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2605:6000:3683:C800:34E4:ACD3:B0FE:BB33 (talk) 15:50, 20 September 2018 (UTC)

I'll answer with some notability guidelines. First it needs to be clear what his occupation is. Is he a news writer / blogger? Then check WP:JOURNALIST. That he's written a bunch of news and magazine articles, that doesn't make him notable. You'll need to find articles that cover Orkin himself, not ones written by him. If he's had a lead position in those media, like lead tech editor or something, then you can write about that. Is he a professor or does academic research? Then check WP:NACADEMIC - they have some high standards as to what professors and researchers are worthy of inclusion, some are like getting medals or awards or being a fellow in a notable research society. Has he done something notable in the business world with his company? Then check WP:NBUSINESS. As a biography of the person, it needs to satisfy general notability guide WP:GNG. I would look mainly for news articles that aren't coming from MIT. Articles that focus on him, and where he is not a passing mention. At this point, it appears more like a resume or eulogy praising Orkin's accomplishments, when it is not clear what he has done that actually makes him Wikipedia notable. WP:LOWPROFILE may also apply, there are lots of folks who have important positions in companies and organizations but aren't Wikipedia notable in themselves. Hope that helps. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 17:25, 20 September 2018 (UTC)

Regarding a recent edit...

I noticed that sometime last month you undid my edit to Christine Marie Cabanos' wiki page. The reason I added rowspans was because merely adding seperate years instead of combined ones looked disorganized and cluttered. Just wanted to state my reasoning. IceWalrus236 (talk) 21:07, 20 September 2018 (UTC)

Please do not add rowspans, they disrupt MOS:ACCESS issues. Also they take away the ability to sort her roles based on release/broadcast dates. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 21:21, 20 September 2018 (UTC)
Rowspans are more for entries that are strongly tied together as with album or film awards. There's nothing about certain voice roles that would require rowspans. If there are strongly tied (sword art online, sword art online 2) they'd be on the same entry anyway. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 21:35, 20 September 2018 (UTC)

Derek Reese music found

Hello AngusWOOF, i added a link to Reese;s draft page, i found his name on the imdb site where his music was used. You said tv or a commercial, i found it :-) Carolcappetta (talk) 19:37, 28 September 2018 (UTC)

Carolcappetta, please find something besides IMDb. That is a user-generated website so it isn't considered a reliable source. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 19:39, 28 September 2018 (UTC)

i understand, may i ask why the two album reviews for reese are not acceptable ? Carolcappetta (talk) 20:00, 28 September 2018 (UTC) Under the criteria for musicians, number 12 states-Has been a featured subject of a substantial broadcast segment across a national radio or TV network. Doesn't reese meet this criteria ? he was featured on the news ? reference number 16 on my draft page, Carolcappetta (talk) 01:00, 29 September 2018 (UTC)

Carolcappetta Reference 16 points to this video interview https://www.localsyr.com/news/newsmakers/newsmakers-harriet-tubman-freedom-music-festival/1227683214 which would only support notability for Sean McLeod the festival's organizer, not Draft:Derek Reese (musician). It is also on a local news segment, not a national one. The Aquarian Weekly is a local paper to New Jersey, i.e. not national. That leaves Performer Magazine, which isn't a national radio or TV network. Was there another reference you are referring to? Also IMDB and discogs needs to be removed from the references. IMDB can be listed only in External links. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 01:16, 29 September 2018 (UTC)

Ive done all i can to try to establish some notability, i give up, i am done. Thank you for all of your help, Carolcappetta (talk) 01:58, 29 September 2018 (UTC)

Hello, you declined the page I made about the Disneyland Paris Magic Run saying it is a part of the already existing RunDisney-page. But what about the Walt Disney World Marathon-page? This is the RunDisney event organised in Walt Disney World/USA. I can't see why this one should have its own page and the European one shouldn't?

SmartGwen (talk) 05:57, 2 October 2018 (UTC)

SmartGwen, the event needs more news sources so that it can stand on its own. The Walt Disney World Marathon one has such coverage. I'll scrub the sources you provided. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 13:44, 2 October 2018 (UTC)

Is it okay if I ask for your help in these improvements, specifically in looking for sources that discuss her style? Thanks. Narutolovehinata5 tccsdnew 11:52, 2 October 2018 (UTC)

My submission

Hi could you please help me understand which embedded links to remove so I can completed your requested changes :) I am confused. Also, how do I site the iflix release? The website isn't available in the United States...

Kmehta9 (talk) 19:33, 2 October 2018 (UTC)Kruti Mehta 10/2/18

Kmehta9, the ones in the tables need to be removed and replaced with citations. For iflix, use a news article announcing that it was added to iflix. You can post a link from within iflix if that is something that can be seen on the web, doesn't have to be United States based. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 19:40, 2 October 2018 (UTC)
AngusWOOF, Okay, and how do I create the citation instead of the embedded link...is that similar to the way I have cited Mehr's quote? By adding a number next to the festivals and awards and then adding the link to the references at the bottom? Is that correct? And okay I'll try to find a way to cite iFlix... lol I clearly don't know how to use the talk page either

Publishing Future of Life Award article

Hello AngusWOOF,

Thanks so much for reviewing my submission for the Future of Life Award. I am writing to see if you will reconsider publishing the page. I find it confusing that the media coverage for this award was deemed insufficient - the Future of Life Award has been covered by The Guardian, The Times, The Independent, The Atlantic, Vox, and other outlets. Although it is new, this award is the most important award of its kind in terms of both award amount and media attention generated, and has already received more attention than some of the following awards that have Wikipedia articles:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brandeis_Award_(privacy) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_Travel_Awards https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Public_Service_Recognition_Award https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Millennium_Peace_Prize_for_Women https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Avicenna_Prize https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Takeda_Awards https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Berggruen_Prize https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Golden_Eurydice_Award

This award seems more noteworthy than the awards listed above, and I think having its own page (as opposed to redirecting to the Future of Life Institute) is important, especially as years pass and more heroes are awarded.

I therefore respectfully request that you reinstate the Future of Life Award Wikipedia article. If you reject this request, then could you please explain to me the Wikipedia appeals process? I would like to pursue this as far as necessary, because this issue is very important to me.

Thanks in advance for your consideration! Tuck.davey (talk) 21:03, 4 October 2018 (UTC)

The "In the media" section should be integrated into the article as references and not left like a separate section. Also it doesn't need a biography of the recipients as they already have Wikipedia articles. Notice on the Takeda Awards, they simply list the person's name and a brief statement. I don't think there's enough to make it a separate article from FLI itself but can be a section in the FLI article. Only two recipients so far. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 21:41, 4 October 2018 (UTC)

ΦNIX - electric airplane

Hello, Thank you for your time. Ok a accept that it looks like more like an advertisement than an entry in an encyclopedia. But it cannot be renamed because the name of this plane and of this projekt is ΦNIX. Mainly it cannot be "Phoenix (electric airplane)" because design and technical design is changed. I have added some references but can not add too much. I collect mainly info from Czech websites.

Can you at least ask you if I can leave a photo in the gallery? Or Can i add there official website ? Should I keep the information tables created by you loaded and send for further review?

I also want to note that nothing will be paid for this article to me. I wrote it because i think people should google/find this page easier. I also want to point out that it holds a similar appearance to the article as well as the appearance of Pipistrel aircraft articles.

Thank you for your time. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Pureflightsolution (talkcontribs) 20:52, 6 October 2018 (UTC)

Can you find articles from Czech newspapers and media websites then? Is it no longer an electric airplane? With the Φ symbol meaning "phi" it might end up being named Phi Nix per WP:TRANSLITERATE "Names not originally in a Latin alphabet, such as Greek, Chinese, or Russian names, must be transliterated. " AngusWOOF (barksniff) 21:05, 6 October 2018 (UTC)

Hello again,
Ok i can add there a references from czech newspapers/websites but many people cannot read this articles, but ok. Ok name of article will be Phoenix (electric airplane) or something like that. My name here is Pureflightsolution because i wanted write articles about it. I contacted companies from Pure flight solution and asked them for info, photos and if i can write articles about airplane and atc. Im student im unemployed but im a big fan of modern vehicles (like tesla, hyperloop, this airplane, etc.). I want write more articles about modern vehicles - but first i want to write articles about Pure flight solution's projects. I was suprised at AERO 2018 when i saw it. They told me about their next projects and i want be with them. And one again I want to note that nothing will be paid for this article to me. I know i have in my article many errors - Im new on Wiki so be good to me.
Thank you for your time and for your advices. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Pureflightsolution (talkcontribs) 22:00, 6 October 2018 (UTC)
Yes, citing Czech newspapers that are not connected to the company is fine. We can always run it through Google translate. I would also suggest a different Wikipedia name than the company. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 22:03, 6 October 2018 (UTC)
Ok, thanks. Do you think is good idea to change profile name ? Or change profile? And one more question - Can be the references on the end of paragraphs ?
Thanks — Preceding unsigned comment added by Pureflightsolution (talkcontribs) 22:16, 6 October 2018 (UTC)
You can ask to change it so as to not be confused with the company. WP:RENAME Yes, adding citation at the end of the relevant paragraphs will work. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 22:24, 6 October 2018 (UTC)
Ok i will do it. I hope last question to you ... What i can do with that infoboxes which you add on the top of my articel ? Can i delete it ?

I greatly appreciate all comments and suggestions. I am not far from being a computer wizard, so I welcome any and all help! Davidruggerio (talk) 16:52, 9 October 2018 (UTC)

Davidruggerio, I would suggest having a brief paragraph summarizing why the person is notable, then the rest can go in the career section. The shows and restaurants and media should be linked to Wikipedia articles and then the references placed at the end of the sentences they support. As long as they can be supported by major news publications as with Krista Watterworth's article which I let through as a stub-level article. Writing more about the subject in detail would be great, but that will need more news article writeups like what I did for Jazza (YouTuber). Thanks again for drafting up the article. Request on 18:50:51, 9 October 2018 for assistance on AfC submission by Patriciamccarthy

I am trying to create a page for Hugh Charles Fairfax-Cholmeley who was a noted rural social reformer in his time 1864 -1940), and the last Squire of an estate in the North Riding in Yorkshire. My problem is that there is virtually nothing which has been written up about him, except a website which I have created myself. His lack of an identity online is precisely why I am trying to create a wikipedia page. Can I reference my website fairfaxcholmeley.com? Sources for his life and work are records of organisations, newspaper articles of his time and the records of his estate and his own diaries. How can I reference this page? Can anyone help me? Patricia McCarthy (talk) 18:50, 9 October 2018 (UTC)

Patriciamccarthy, you can cite the newspaper articles and books of his time, and if those aren't available online from Google searches, but your website has clippings of the papers, then you can cite the newspaper and provide the url to that website. I did a quick Google search on "Hugh Charles Fairfax-Cholmeley" and I do see some news articles and book write-ups like: [12] [13] [14] [15], [16] [17] [18] [19] A lot of those are peerage listings but there may be snippets that coincide with what you've provided. Some of the website could be used as primary, like what you transcribed his postcards [20] but information such as the schools he attended or the organizations he headed, it would be better to find the newspaper that discusses it. Basically if you were able to get that information about him from that source, cite that source, outside of personal records that have never been made available to the public. Like, if you have his diary, and that's not available to the public to research, then don't use that one. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 19:17, 9 October 2018 (UTC)

If minor things don't need articles, why do these articles exist?

List of minor DC Comics characters List of minor Buffy the Vampire Slayer characters List of minor recurring characters in Star Trek: Enterprise List of minor characters in the Matrix series List of Seinfeld minor characters Also, there's at least one element on List of fictional elements, materials, isotopes and subatomic particles that doesn't play a major role in a notable work of fiction, isn't common to several unrelated works, and isn't discussed in detail by independent sources. (It's Frinkonium). I feel like if it deserves to be on List of fictional elements, materials, isotopes and subatomic particles, then other minor fictional elements, materials, isotopes and subatomic particles should also deserve a list. — Preceding unsigned comment added by REDsEngineer (talkcontribs) 18:15, 11 October 2018 (UTC)

Those articles have reliable sources to support their notability. The problem is that your minor list does not. Also it appears to be closer to video game fancruft for the single video game, where we don't need lists of every type of fictional term used in the game. Hi AngusWOOF, I will clean up what you requested, but trying to understand how we might not be considered notable. InMotion Hosting was one of the first hosting companies in US, still employee owned (not run by EIG), and first to do Green Hosting. However, simply comparing to other hosting companies, seems equally notable: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HostGator, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SiteGround, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bluehost, and other hosting companies. Also, we noticed an Arabic page that was published with our information: https://ar.wikipedia.org/wiki/%D8%A7%D9%86%D9%85%D9%88%D8%B4%D9%86_%D9%87%D9%88%D8%B3%D8%AA%D9%86%D8%AC

Please let me know what makes a company more notable, but felt based on other hosting companies, it was at least at par!

Thanks for your review and guidance!

KyleighFitz (talk) 22:08, 11 October 2018 (UTC)

KyleighFitz, please read WP:ORGCRIT on what sources are considered notable for companies and organizations. They should generally be news articles and magazine articles independent of the subject (no press releases), and not trivial or passing mentions. SplatteredPaint is there a genre of music she does as a singer-songwriter? What is her style and theme, and her inspirations? What instruments does she play or is she just a vocalist? The "started studios" thing is kind of confusing. Does that mean she is also a producer or is that the name of her own label? Hello, AngusWOOF! I edited the article as I think it responds to your recommendations. It definitely is not an advertising, in few words one of the players in this new area is outlined. I think all the sources are independent, but please, help me with explanation why you think one is not and give me some examples. Thank you! Wikkkk9 (talk) 16:09, 7 October 2018 (UTC) Wikkkk9 (talk) 16:09, 7 October 2018 (UTC)

Wikkkk9, if the writeup is coming from the organization / sponsor like a press release, then it's probably not independent as many convention panelists write up their own biographies for publication. If a newspaper on the other hand, covers the event then you can use that. Can you rewrite her article so it is more like a biography? There should be paragraphs detailing her career. How did she get started? What was her first blogs and stuff about? What companies did she found and get sponsorships for? The organizational events and conferences can be described in there like "In 2013, she gave a TEDx Talk on (subject) at the (conference) in Birmingham" AngusWOOF (barksniff) 16:48, 7 October 2018 (UTC)

86.156.219.64 you should remove the part where it says it's a holding page for it being drafted. Also you need to connect the references to the verbiage being written about the band. You should cite reliable secondary sources independent of the subject. Right now I don't see much notability for the band. There's no major music reviews from mainstream music sources or news articles, no charting information, no international reception. Please read WP:MUSICBIO and let the reviewers know how the band satisfies the notability criteria there. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 15:25, 12 October 2018 (UTC)

Hi there,

Thanks for your helpful comments/edits on my AfC for Draft:J. Smoke Wallin. I've made the edits you've requested and resubmitted for approval. Could you take a look? Thanks again! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.80.75.70 (talk) 17:15, 15 October 2018 (UTC)

72.80.75.70, I've added some more feedback. Could you write up some more into the history of the person and the businesses worked on? You can look at Kim Taylor (entrepreneur) as a recent example of one AngusWOOF (barksniff) 19:05, 15 October 2018 (UTC)

If it is copyrighted by Government of India, then it can't stay around. See WP:COPYVIO. It needs to be written in your own words, not the Government's. If Chhimpa has a biography in a government website, you can use that as a citation. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 14:44, 16 October 2018 (UTC)
Please also note that if you are Sanjay Chhimpa, then you shouldn't be writing an article about yourself. WP:NOTABOUTYOU as that would be a conflict of interest. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 14:47, 16 October 2018 (UTC)

Deliverr: Submission Declined

Hi AngusWoof, we are a small company trying to make its presence felt in the industry. We are just publishing the work we do. Till some independent publication picks up our information is there any other way of verification of our work. I do not wish to resubmit unless we meet the standards. If you can advice us as to how the article should be rephrased we will be glad to comply.

Rishin Chatterjee, you'll need to find some news articles that cover your company that aren't written by your company. If it's being covered by local to national newspapers and websites, then it's more likely to be notable. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 21:08, 15 October 2018 (UTC)

Request on 00:29:12, 16 October 2018 for assistance on AfC submission by Rabimba

Hi, I am reaching out with regard to the article on IRL: Online Life is Real Life and it's deletion. I just got the message that it has been deleted for copyright violation. I wanted to know which part of the article violated the rule. And what was objectionable in the content (anmd how can I correct it). As far as I know it's not violating any explicit copyrights and I can provide clarification.

Rabimba (talk) 00:29, 16 October 2018 (UTC)

It was mainly taking word-for-word the podcast episode descriptions. Also the IRL section exists on Veronica Belmont's article. You should add more detail about the podcast there. It doesn't need a list of episode titles, but some details like the range of guests can be mentioned. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 00:36, 16 October 2018 (UTC)
Ok got it. That is probably because I have permission from Mozilla and from the person who wrote that description in the podcast page to use that here. But in understand how that might not be a perfect situation for a Wikipedia article. Let me get back and see if they approve of my rewrite. Meanwhile, instead of it being a section in Veronica Belmont's article we wanted it to have its own independent page along with details about future guests (like the range you suggested) and other tidbits. Do you think that's do-able? I will work on a draft with original content apart from the podcast one, and then submit for review again.

Rabimba (talk)

Rabimba, reminder that Wikipedia is not a program guide and it is not a medium for promoting the podcast. WP:NOTPROMO A lot of the major talk shows do not have episode guides full of guest lists. You may also want to check out WP:NWEB for web notability requirements. It should have references from secondary sources independent of the subject. If there are news articles that discuss the impact of IRL podcast by itself then add those. I would suggest beefing up that section in Belmont's article until the content warrants a WP:SIZESPLIT and then a redirect for IRL (podcast) can be created. Draft:Town of Salem

Hi, I've updated my sources on the town of salem draft, I was wondering if IGN would be considered a reliable source for the first paragraph and if BoardGameGeek would be considered reliable to prove the existence of the physical card game? Crystical (talk) 11:25, 16 October 2018 (UTC)

Crystical, it depends on what part of IGN is being used. If it's an article by staff, then it's okay. If it's from a contributor, it's borderline, depending on whether the person is actually a regular writer or a volunteer user. Forums and the Wiki sections are not reliable. You can check WP:VG/RS for what the video game wikiproject thinks are reliable sources. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 14:29, 16 October 2018 (UTC)

Assistance for the Draft submitted on 16/10/2018 under the title "APOGEE(festival)"

Hi! I was wondering how to improve the referencing of my text, since there isn't a lot of coverage available on the internet. The sources i have used as references in the article are independent, barring a few. It would be really helpful if you could tell me the exact requirements my article needs to be published.

Regards Neelj99 (talk) 10:09, 17 October 2018 (UTC)

Neelj99, you need coverage from secondary sources independent of the subject. I've scrubbed through the references that you have been provided so far:

  • Ignite Engineers is a blog website that announces events - press release, primary
  • festpav is an online event directory that any college can use to post stuff - connected to school / press release, primary
  • English Press Club - event details / primary
  • Bits-apogee is connected to the festival event / primary, self-published
  • Dailyhunt - aggregate news site, press release
  • India Infoline - news announcement
  • Aaronhan 19 - exam hosted by APOGEE / primary, self-published
  • Youtube videos - from BITS / primary, self-published
  • twenty19.com - job listing for organiser for event / primary, self-published

So of these, only India Infoline has some part that might be independent coverage, but everything else is connected to the school. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 15:52, 17 October 2018 (UTC)

E-Stylus, I've done what I can to the article, and sent it through. Keep looking for more secondary sources independent of the subject. The interviews from the major Christian media networks help, but they could still lean a bit towards primary. Request on 19:39:15, 17 October 2018 for assistance on AfC submission by AdaLovelaceDev

Hey Angus,

This is my first time editing a Wikipedia page so i'm not so sure how to proceed. I see that you marked some element of our page as copyrighted but I can't find WHICH element it is, in order to fix it. Could you let me know which and how I can attribute the copyright?

Thanks!

AdaLovelaceDev (talk) 19:39, 17 October 2018 (UTC)

AdaLovelaceDev it was the section concerning the recruiting. I already removed it and replaced it with a sentence. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 19:45, 17 October 2018 (UTC)

Okay thanks. Another question:

. In the section of Clients you ask for a citation when we say "as well as medium and small companies". What type of citation is needed there? Do we have to mention our small and medium companies? Because they usually don't like us disclosing their information.

That'd be the only change pending for the article to be published, right? — Preceding unsigned comment added by AdaLovelaceDev (talkcontribs) 15:14, 18 October 2018 (UTC)

AdaLovelaceDev, the sources need to come from OUTSIDE the company. You need to look up news articles written about your company and use their writings not yours to describe the client base. You don't need to disclose the client names, just a few of the ones that were made public through those news articles. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 15:23, 18 October 2018 (UTC)

Okay, I understand that for claims such as our rankings and such, but we don't divulge our clients to the press or communicate our relationships with them to external sites. Is there any other way we can prove that they are indeed our clients? We have all the legal documents in order, if needed. The only external site that references our current clients is Clutch, which has reviews from several of our clients from all sizes. They are not our main clients though, which are the ones we would like to highlight in our page: https://clutch.co/profile/bairesdev — Preceding unsigned comment added by AdaLovelaceDev (talkcontribs) 19:01, 18 October 2018 (UTC)

AdaLovelaceDev, you should only list a handful of clients that have been publicly disclosed in press releases or news articles, and provide a citation to that. You should of course not list any that are not publicized, confidential or top secret. There'a also no need for any exhaustive list. If people want a more detailed list they can go to your website. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 19:07, 18 October 2018 (UTC)

I've corrected the buzzwords and other edits you made. My only question is: We don't have any articles or links about the inauguration of our LATAM offices. Do we have to provide a citation for this? The only sites we can provide as "proof" are the job searches we carry out on each country where we have an office. Can that count as a citation? Thanks again. — Preceding unsigned comment added by AdaLovelaceDev (talkcontribs) 18:06, 22 October 2018 (UTC)

Do you have any news articles written about the company? AngusWOOF (barksniff) 18:10, 22 October 2018 (UTC)

This message regards this recently created page, regarding a PHd person in computer science, whose work won the Kurzweil Artificial General Intelligence award back in 2015. (See reference on draft of Dr. Ozkural)

I modelled his page based on this page on Jürgen Schmidhuber. I'm new to Wikipedia, but I have been doing programming for several years, so I can quickly adopt Wikipedia's syntax.

Could you possibly quickly point out which references on Jürgen Schmidhuber satisfies the requirements you specified on this recently created page here? I'm trying to clarify what I'm seeing on the reliability related sequence of pages.

Thanks for your first message! — Preceding unsigned comment added by ChooklateWolfy (talkcontribs) 22:25, 19 October 2018 (UTC)

Actually none of the sources meet WP:GNG which requires significant coverage in secondary sources independent of the subject

1. his own website, self-published, primary 2. Eight Conference - passing mention, no significant coverage 3. Ultimate intelligence - self-published, primary 4. CS Graduate - by school, primary 5. Ehfirst - his workplace, primary 6. Martin Minsky - name drop, passing mention, no significant coverage 7. towards heuristic paper - self-published, primary 8. google patent - co-inventor, self-published, primary AngusWOOF (barksniff) 22:39, 19 October 2018 (UTC)

Hey WOOF. Unless I am mistaken, there may be a potential error in your initial diagnosis of one of the references, on Dr. Eray's page, regarding the [Conference on Artificial General Intelligence]. The reference seems to be a lot more than a passing mention. The same reference contains a roughly 19 minute long video on the AGI's society's page, featuring Dr. Eray Ozkural. Please reconsider the status of this source, as reliable, rather than a "passing mention".
PS: I have more references to add. Albeit, please see my concern above regarding the conference reference.

Thanks for your guidance! ChooklateWolfy (ChooklateWolfy) 03:02, October 2018 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by ChooklateWolfy (talkcontribs)
ChooklateWolfy , the Eight Conference reference would then be self-published / primary as a convention profile description. That still doesn't help meet WP:GNG AngusWOOF (barksniff) 15:07, 22 October 2018 (UTC)
WOOF, as per self publish page, Dr. Eray, the author, is not the same entity as the publisher, AGI-society (agi-society.org/governance), which is governed by separate persons, including Ben Goertzel and Marcus Hutter. If the publisher AGI-society (agi-society.org/governance) and the author (Dr. Eray) are different entities, I am thinking that it is not self published work, but instead a reliable source. What are your thoughts WOOF?
ChooklateWolfy it's still written as a press release / convention profile which means Eray may still be involved in writing his own profile. Needs secondary or third-party news sources that are independent of the subject. AGI is connected to the subject. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 15:33, 22 October 2018 (UTC)

Hello AngusWoof, thank you for reviewing the article so quickly. I am not sure if I understand all your comments though. Perhaps you can help.

  • Convert list of appearances to prose in Career section to highlight which orchestra groups he played with. --> I am not sure what you mean by this as the list already highlights the ensembles/orchestras he played with. And I followed the policy to only link once. Our idea was to turn this into a table and also add the directors and the exact date. More like a discography or filmography. What is your opinion on that?
  • Need more sources that describe Van Sambeek's career and personal life. --> Will try and look for them.
  • Need to convert embedded links in the Awards section to Wikipedia links to notable awards. --> I understand this, but not all these rewards have Wikipedia posts. Do you mean to link to them even though they do not have a post, and the link shows up as red?

Thanks again AngusWoof :-)

--Sobatipep (talk) 11:01, 19 October 2018 (UTC)

Sobatipep (talk) 11:01, 19 October 2018 (UTC)

Sobatipep The list should be shortened to just his tenures with the symphonies, not highlight every single concert program he played with them. The programs can be detailed in his biography section. The teaching subsection should also be integrated into the career section as that is part of his career. Hope that helps. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 16:45, 19 October 2018 (UTC)

Hello AngusWOOF,

I resubmitted the article on Bram van Sambeek again.

  1. Removed peacock proze and made more neutral
  2. Converted list of appearances from bullet list to written paragraphs, organized mostly by composers and their compositions. Bram van Sambeek is a soloist so he plays with different orchestras. More links to composers.
  3. The teaching is integrated in the career section under a sub heading.
  4. Added more references
  5. I converted the embedded links in the Awards section to references and inserted an internal link although not all award have EN pages.

Hope all is right now. If not, please let me hear your feedback.

Little help to create a new article

Hello, AngusWOOF! Please forgive me about that I'm new here, but I really would like to create an English article about Gräddö (as it may be translated from https://sv.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gr%C3%A4dd%C3%B6 ) and I don't know what to do. :(

Can I REALLY need a helping hand from anyone here?

--SuperTramp1987 (talk) 08:43, 6 October 2018 (UTC)

You can keep working on translating it from the SV wikipedia. It's just that as is, it's a single statement that is unsourced. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 08:45, 6 October 2018 (UTC)
Is THIS correct: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Gr%C3%A4dd%C3%B6 ? — Preceding unsigned comment added by SuperTramp1987 (talkcontribs) 08:50, 6 October 2018 (UTC)
It's a good start. Then you can copy over the citations instead of leaving them as [5]. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 08:52, 6 October 2018 (UTC)
Thanks, dear you! But I really need a SIMPLE help for HOW to create an article, by the way. :) --SuperTramp1987 (talk) 08:54, 6 October 2018 (UTC)
Well, there's WP:YFA I guess. You can always select "edit article" and copy the citations over from the SV wikipedia (translate the cite web format). AngusWOOF (barksniff) 08:58, 6 October 2018 (UTC)
Er... I guess that YOU can create an article about Gräddö for me, if I've correct. :/ --SuperTramp1987 (talk) 09:07, 6 October 2018 (UTC)
SuperTramp1987, go on ahead, it needs the citations. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 22:38, 23 October 2018 (UTC)

Voice acting credit removals

Please be less indiscriminate in removing these, especially without checking the closing credits of the show in question. I just spent quite a bit of time carefully re-adding them on two different pages (in one case after a misleading edit summary). Modernponderer (talk) 21:05, 23 October 2018 (UTC)

Which credit are you referring to? If you've checked the actual closing credits, then you can cite them. There may be ones where they are inappropriately referenced to BTVA without the checkmark to confirm credits. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 21:49, 23 October 2018 (UTC)
The two I recently restored had no citations in the respective articles, but were in the closing credits of the show. I added the citations of course, but it is far too much work for a single entry, which is why I'm asking you to be more careful with removing these to begin with. Modernponderer (talk) 22:09, 23 October 2018 (UTC)
You need to cite the episode if you are providing closing credits. Otherwise there is no way to know if the credits appeared or not. If there are no citations, they will be removed. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 22:14, 23 October 2018 (UTC)
I did. I'm just saying it's extremely unlikely that other editors would be combing through revision histories and find out any credits were removed in the first place. Modernponderer (talk) 22:26, 23 October 2018 (UTC)
I've had to undo a lot of poor editing and insertion of unsourced credits on multiple articles. If I removed one that was supported by cite episode that was unintentional, then I apologize. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 22:29, 23 October 2018 (UTC)

You need to connect those to the article. Also do not use imdb. That is not a reliable source. The other problem is that Garrison 7 is not a notable film and many of the sources listed only have him as a cast announcement that he joined the cast rather than details about his acting career. HPR is good though, that attempts to cover the actor. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 00:25, 24 October 2018 (UTC)

Submission Rejection

Hi, you reviewed my wiki article for submission (Anna Clendening) and you denied it, which I understand the reason behind references. However, you said "Making it to the quarterfinals of America's Got Talent doesn't mean she is now notable. AngusWOOF (bark • sniff) 19:29, 22 October 2018 (UTC)". What do you mean by that? Should I not include that she was on America's Got Talent?

Also, the references that are not associated with her, the official YouTube of America's Got Talent, is not a valid citation? Are YouTube links not appreciated at all? Crossxroads315 (talk) 20:07, 22 October 2018 (UTC)crossxroads315

It's fine to include her presence in the show, but like I said, that doesn't make her notable. WP:NOTINHERITED But you need more news articles independent of the subject and of the show that cover her career. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 20:12, 22 October 2018 (UTC)

Ok, I can include her presence on the show but the reference to the video posted by the official account for America's Got Talent is not reliable? Her presence on America's Got Talent is not notable, but she is a signed recording artist, that's just her history.

Thank you for the tip on news articles. Not trying to come off as defensive, it's just my first article and I'm trying to understand.

Crossxroads315 (talk) 21:19, 22 October 2018 (UTC)crossxroads315

Are the citations I have on the article not apart of the guidelines? Or do I need more than what already have? The citations I gave included an interview she gave with a valid, credible source about her mental illness. The citiation from AllMusic covered her biography and history, another credible, independent source. The other citation included a video of her on season 9 of AGT, provided by the official YouTube of America's Got Talent, a credible independent source.

Again, I appreciate your help, I'm just trying to understand specifically which citations and why, so I know how exactly to make the revisions.Crossxroads315 (talk) 20:24, 23 October 2018 (UTC)crossxroads315

AGT is a primary source as she was in the show. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 20:39, 23 October 2018 (UTC)

But independent articles that cover her history are not? Also, how is an interview she had not a reliable source of information?Crossxroads315 (talk) 21:00, 23 October 2018 (UTC)crossxroads315

Independent articles that cover her history are secondary sources WP:SECONDARY. Interviews depend on whether the interviewee is giving most of the information or whether the interviewer has already disclosed information from their research. If it's mostly interviewee, then it's a primary source for what she says about herself. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 16:48, 25 October 2018 (UTC)

Bratz Super Babyz

Have you watched Bratz Super Babyz? I was watching it and do you think that the movie takes place in the near future because of aliens owning a matter exchanger which which actually turned the main characters, The Bratz Babyz into loose haired Super Babyz? And is the movie like a Magical girl movie because the Bratz have super powers, Like for example, the main characters super powers: Cloe (Seireena): Super Loud (Loud Sound Waves) Jade (Glue Girl): Super Sticky (Super Glue) Sasha (Smartasha): Super Smart (Brains) Yasmin (Speedy Princess): Super Speed (Sonic Speed) Is it just like in those superhero comics? And is the Bratz Super Babyz movie has some Magical girl elements in anime? In fact are the Super Babyz like magical girls, with super powers from a matter exchanger which changed their normal hairstyles into loose haired superheroines? No, I have not seen that series. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 16:39, 25 October 2018 (UTC)

AldezD

That user still thinks I'm trying to bring back the "Legends of the Hidden Temple" episode list when all I'm trying to do is figure out when exactly in 1995 the game show last aired. Chances are, that user doesn't want to figure out when in 1995 Legends last aired. Seriously, that user needs to be banned for false accusations.

Alec Borden (talk) 21:45, 23 October 2018 (UTC)

I've gotten conflicting information on whether it ended in 1994 or 1995 as discussed on that talk page. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 16:46, 25 October 2018 (UTC)
I referenced the "War Fan of the 47 Ronin" production slate and it says that the third season of Legends of the Hidden Temple started production on February 18, 1995.
Alec Borden (talk) 22:38, 25 October 2018 (UTC)
That's not really a readily available source; where the heck did it even come from? Someone's VHS taping of some accidentally broadcast video? AngusWOOF (barksniff) 23:31, 25 October 2018 (UTC)

Real Girl

Hi. Can you please take a look at Real Girl (manga)? I'm thinking about creating critical reception and production sections as well as expanding the characters with manga sources; my goal is to get it to at least a C or a B-class article. I've also created a list of episodes in my sandbox. Lord Sjones23 (talk - contributions) 04:17, 25 October 2018 (UTC)

Sjones23, I've only read parts of the manga (constructed the original characters list) but as the show has an anime released, there should be some articles in the usual places for reviews. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 16:45, 25 October 2018 (UTC)
I see. As usual, I've asked around to see what can be done about the article over at WT:ANIME. Lord Sjones23 (talk - contributions) 17:25, 25 October 2018 (UTC)

Adjustable Censorship page

Hello,

While I appreciate your suggestion to merge with video game hidden content and censorship, as mentioned in the page, this does not only apply to video games (though it mostly does). Hence, the merge would leave partial information out. Also, this word has been used in 1) A peer-reviewed scientific article and 2) other wikis. I think that it therefore does grant a specific wikipedia page for that reason.

User:lonnibesancon (talk) 03:25, 23 October 2018 (UTC)

lonnibesancon, as mentioned on that page, it is not clear what you're trying to detail. Each media does their own editing on their product so that it meets certain ratings and those are described over different articles. Sometimes the government censors the material, sometimes the station censors the material. But that's already covered by the existing articles. Also, wikias are not reliable sources. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 16:43, 25 October 2018 (UTC)
AngusWOOF, please look at the first reference. A **peer-reviewed and published scientific paper** as I mentioned three times already. The term Adjustable Censorship is also used in this article, so while some other pages might mention the practice, it is a term that has been cornered and used in a scientific article. I may get your concern, but that doesn't prevent you or other from actually looking at the first reference of the article which, I repeat myself, not an other wiki. I point to other wikis for examples, not for the definition itself. I get that you guys probably review a great deal of drafts, but it would be nice if you could put in the effort that would save us all time. I do cite scientific and peer reviewed articles, the term is used in one of them so the "no reliable and secondary source argument" does not hold. As for the fact that other pages do cover this, yes they do but for their own topic only (games, movies, ...). The term is broad enough to encompass them all and should therefore have a wikipedia entry. Basically, to make an analogy you are referring to the fact that since all quadrilateral shapes already have a wiki entry covering their properties, we should not create the page for quadrilateral shapes...— Preceding unsigned comment added by Lonnibesancon (talkcontribs) 16:50, 25 October 2018 (UTC)
lonnibesancon, you're pointing to an article that requires a paid subscription to access, and the term is not the subject of the paper. According to the abstract, which is the only part I can see "We present the first empirical study on using color manipulation and stylization to make surgery images more palatable. While aversion to such images is natural, it limits many people's ability to satisfy their curiosity, educate themselves, and make informed decisions. We selected a diverse set of image processing techniques, and tested them both on surgeons and lay people. While many artistic methods were found unusable by surgeons, edge-preserving image smoothing gave good results both in terms of preserving information (as judged by surgeons) and reducing repulsiveness (as judged by lay people). Color manipulation turned out to be not as effective." I don't see the words adjustable censorship there. How the heck can I tell that it's a regularly used term in that paper? The rest of your citations are either from TV tropes or Wikias, or Reddit forum posts. Those are not reliable sources. Please present some news articles that use the term on a regular basis so it isn't considered a neologism WP:NOTNEO AngusWOOF (barksniff) 16:56, 25 October 2018 (UTC)
AngusWOOF, well if you google for the title of the paper you find the pdf, which is why I am saying that you did not really bother at all reading this. Worst case scenario, sci-hub provides ways for you to find papers that are not openly accessible. But well I did do the google search for you: https://hal.inria.fr/hal-01795744/file/Besancon_2018_RAR.pdf The term is used in section 2.4. So yes its use is quite new, but it is used in at least one **scientific and peer-reviewed paper**. So that's one reliable secondary source. So the basis to remove it for lack of reliable sources does not hold. You also did not reply to my second part. "As for the fact that other pages do cover this, yes they do but for their own topic only (games, movies, ...). The term is broad enough to encompass them all and should therefore have a wikipedia entry. Basically, to make an analogy you are referring to the fact that since all quadrilateral shapes already have a wiki entry covering their properties, we should not create the page for quadrilateral shapes..."
I just looked at that paper, and it references the Wikias and TV tropes as well. This would be like citing a news article that says they got their information from looking up Wikipedia. Like I said, you need to find other news articles to support the use of the term. Based on what they wrote, it still remains a neologism that was popularized by TV Tropes that hasn't had widespread use. It may be in the near future, but not as it stands now. The quadrilateral example does not equate as there is coverage for "what is a quadrilateral" AngusWOOF (barksniff) 17:11, 25 October 2018 (UTC)
I think you'll find that it still redirects to the general Censorship article as that has information on all sorts of methods as shown by the navbox in the Censorship article. Template:Censorship Are you trying to make a topic about how the Internet or media is capable of making a decision as to whether to deliver uncensored or censored content based on someone's preference? AngusWOOF (barksniff) 17:20, 25 October 2018 (UTC)
Yes it does also reference these, but if the cornered term is in a peer reviewed paper it does mean that it has been accepted by the scientific community. Well not just how the internet or media is capable of making the decision, but the rest of the article will also contain (I haven't written that yet) information on why it's important to leave the possibility to get graphic content (education, information, ...). These don't relate to the censorship practices. For instance, what Facebook currently does with graphic content is just blur it out until you click to validate that you want to it. This is in no way censorship per se, and their term of use explain that graphic content can be used for education,... Sorry for the late reply, I did not get a notification for your reply AngusWOOF

Question: Declined Black Irish Band submission

Hi Angus Wolf,

Thank you for reviewing this submission. It was a bit longer than some so thank you for giving it your time and energy.

You commented that it reads too much like an advertisement. I believe I can edit it to read more like an encyclopedia.

My question is about "not adequately supported by reliable sources."

As you read, the band has been featured on network television, covered in the Washington Post, the Huff Post and other publications; has the backing of the Smithsonian Institute; and was included in a book, in a documentary, and in materials from Stanford University. It has great American icons of music performing its songs.

My guess is that no American band can even come close to the Black Irish when it comes to writing, producing and performing historical storytelling songs and ballads. They are prolific and one-of-a-kind. Twenty-six albums and nearly 200 original songs!

Please help me understand why you don't feel they are adequately supported by reliable sources so that I can improve my submission and also get better at being a better Wikipedia author. Many thanks.

P.S. I hope the tone of this message doesn't come off snippy or disrespectful in any way. Again, I appreciate the gift of your time in making Wikipedia what it is today. Susan — Preceding unsigned comment added by Skohl (talkcontribs) 18:27, 26 October 2018 (UTC)

At this point, it needs a reorg to be more of a band article. See my comments on the draft. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 18:43, 26 October 2018 (UTC)
Skohl, I've reorganized the article. It now needs the history section cleaned up and some sources to be cited properly, but mainly the history. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 19:30, 26 October 2018 (UTC)

Draft:Nate Staniforth

Hello AngusWOOF, I have taken your comments into consideration for my Draft:Nate Staniforth page and have added in the requested sections as well as some more news sources, could you please take a look at my resubmission, Thank you. StaniforthHistorian (talk) 20:33, 26 October 2018 (UTC)

StaniforthHistorian, when did the TV show air, and what did it focus on? How many episodes? AngusWOOF (barksniff) 21:43, 26 October 2018 (UTC)
AngusWOOF, I have gone ahead and added in some more information regarding TV appearances using IMDB, I have also made reference to that article you suggested which mentions his University of Iowa graduation. StaniforthHistorian (talk) 21:56, 26 October 2018 (UTC)
StaniforthHistorian, it looks like he co-hosted the show with three other magicians and he was only involved in season 2. Is that accurate? [21] You might want to clarify that in the writeup. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 21:58, 26 October 2018 (UTC)
StaniforthHistorian, also mention his TED talk with some sources. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 22:00, 26 October 2018 (UTC)
AngusWOOF, Good suggestions, I've added in a section on his TED Talks with sources, as well as added in more details to him being the host during Season 2, as well as the fact he was a Co-host. StaniforthHistorian (talk) 22:09, 26 October 2018 (UTC)
StaniforthHistorian also did he have any shticks on that show? Was he known for performing a certain type of trick or were they equally likely. Also did the hosts work together or did they go off and do their own tricks in four different parts? AngusWOOF (barksniff) 22:11, 26 October 2018 (UTC)
AngusWOOFI've gone back and added in some more detail, from what I've seen they perform independently, I've also added in the commonly performed tricks. StaniforthHistorian (talk) 22:25, 26 October 2018 (UTC)
