Re: Calvinism and God hating

edit

Well Mr Anon 64, I have to thank you for teaching me a lesson I'd evidently forgotten, or at least needed to learn in a new way. I was failing to assume good faith in a spectacular way and made a bull in a china shop of myself. I'm sorry for that. And, thank you for your patience—despite my poorly-advised beligerence, you (and Al) were patient with me, civil, and scrupulously avoided making the situation worse. Two ways of learning are from our own mistakes and from the example of others, and you've allowed me to benefit from both sorts of lessons this week. — Saxifrage 15:16, 29 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

As on your user talk page, all is well and in fact I could use a little forgiveness myself. thanks! --Anon 64 14:27, 30 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

WP:PAIN and User:Reswobslc

edit

I've looked over your entry at WP:PAIN and agree that User:Reswobslc has gone about in a generally disruptive way at times; as such, I've left some comments on his talk page. However, there are, of course, two sides to every conflict, so please keep in mind some of the suggestions given at WP:CIVIL, WP:EQ, and WP:COOL when the editing gets heated.

I'll try to keep an eye on things, and I hope that future edits between the two of you will be more harmonious. Please drop me a note on my talk page if you need any assistance. Tijuana Brass¡Épa! 20:48, 20 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Nothing so significant that I think it needs special mention - don't worry. But if you ever feel a little worked up when it comes to an article covering something that's important to you, you may want to take a break for a while... visit WP:CLEANUP maybe, or check out some unrelated topic of interest (which is how I found myself editing an article as abstract as Urushiol-induced contact dermatitis). Believe me, it happens to me all the time... helps me to keep things in perspective. After all, most of the time, people are trying to edit in good faith.
Best wishes. Drop me a line if you need anything. Tijuana Brass¡Épa! 14:14, 21 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Exmormonism

edit

I was involved in this page for a while too, although it's been a few months, as I've been busy with a new job and I've been reduced to really just watching for vandalism. As you can attest to, lately, the Mormonism-related articles here can eat up a lot of time, due to some strong personalities (on both sides). I think the user you alluded to having problems with was User:Anon166, who can be somewhat unyielding when it comes to his/her point of view. While I didn't go through every contribution in the page history, I checked over things to see what's been going on lately.

Here's an idea I came up with. Sometimes, when doing some big revisions to an article, I'll copy it wholesale to a subpage of my username, i.e. User:Tijuana Brass/Article subpage. That way I can tweak it for a while and have the changes saved in a contribution history without running into someone of a different point of view reverting them on me before they really got to unfold. Given the magnitude of the changes you'd like to make — and I agree that there needs to be some — this may give you a chance to really go over things uninterrupted. I went ahead and took the liberty of copying Exmormonism to User:Anon 64/Exmormonism sandbox for you; if you decide not to use it, just let me know and I can delete it for you. After you've made the changes you like, drop a link to your userfied version on the Exmormonism talk page, along with a summary of the changes you've made. They can then be treated and analyzed on a case by case basis, if need be.

If that doesn't work, then it's probably time for us to move towards the mediation process, and I can help with that (I've actually been considering doing so for some time now). The first step is a Request for Comment, which is a petition for other editors to look over an disputed article and provide input. That can be limited in impact, as it only will draw editors who happen to notice the request and are interested in the topic, so if necessary, the second step is a Request for Mediation, which is a little more formal and invites a neutral third party to get involved. In both cases, you'll want to provide a summary of what's been done so far by yourself and others to attempt to reconcile the differences in opinion, including diffs — again, I can help with that some. But for now, let me know if you like the userpage option. If not, there's other things that can be tried.

Good luck! Tijuana Brass¡Épa! 05:57, 24 July 2006 (UTC)Reply
