Feedback on bibliography

Hi, Aoifemahood! Some feedback on your preliminary bibliography: overall, you show some grasp of MLA citation but need to learn a few details. Remember that a period (not a comma) comes at the end of a book title. Also, I'm unclear about the first source in your bib. Is this a book you found in Worlcat? If so, then you just cite the publication info in the format for a book -- because you can't access the full text of the book in Worldcat (or at least I doubt it...?), you will need to change the citation when you receive the book and have the info you need for the citation. Also, your second item: is this a part of a book or an edited volume? Depending on the "container," you will need to fix this citation as well (see "A Work in an Anthology, Reference, or Collection" at https://owl.english.purdue.edu/owl/resource/747/06/ ). I believe that for NYU Press books, we use the phrase "NYU P" or "New York UP" in the citation (not New York Univ. Press U.a.). Also, remember always to abbreviate "volume" as "vol." -- you are inconsistent in this bib. Finally, we no longer have to designate "Print" or "Web" in MLA bibliographic citations, because the other info in the citation (e.g. URL, DOI, or the lack thereof) makes it clear to your reader what kind of source it is. Feedback on bibliography (spring 2018)

Hi, Aoifemahood! There are several things you need to work on to make sure you're following MLA citation style. Remember that titles of books, journals, newspapers, web sites, etc. need to be italicized. And, instead of Theatre Topics 17.2 you should write Theatre Topics, vol. 17, no. 2 (MLA specifies that approach to formatting now). For books, remember to include the full publisher's name but with abbreviations for "university" and "press," e.g. publisher in the Replogle citation should be: U of California P. Also, be sure to include the page range for journal articles (e.g., pp. 45-80), so that a reader can find it in the journal. All citations for articles or web pages that you consulted online need a URL or DOI as well as an "access date" -- see https://owl.english.purdue.edu/owl/resource/747/08/ Finally, whenever you have multiple works by the same author in a Works Cited list, after the first citation you replace the authors name with three em dashes -- see the sample Works Cited list here for an example of what I'm talking about: https://owl.english.purdue.edu/owl/resource/747/12/ Please let me know if you have questions, and best wishes with this project!
