Hi JediMaster16,
I noticed your interest in adminship. While you seem like a good contributor, with only 128 edits it's going to be a little while before other editors feel that you're ready for adminship. I suggest holding off until you have approximately 1000 edits. And when you do decide to nominate yourself, the correct page is Wikipedia:Requests for Adminship and not the associated talk page. Happy editing! moink 03:02, 22 Jun 2004 (UTC)
RE:moink
editOh, I thought the page said that I had to get someone else to support me.. Oh well. I'll keep on editing.
Photo Editing Software
editI saw your comment about not having a good photo editor over at WP:FPC. Do yourself a big favour and go to http://gimp.org and download a copy of The GIMP. Totally free (GPL), cross-platform, photo editing software at its best. - Gaz 14:25, 6 Sep 2004 (UTC)
Copyright
editThe difference between GFDL material and copyrighted material that Wikipedia has permission to use is that only the former material is free content. This means it can be used by third parties. All text on Wikipedia has to be GFDL, public domain or fair use. Some images can be under other free licenses (such as a Creative Commons License) but can not be permission-only for Wikipedia. Permission-only material should be deleted since one of the aims of Wikipedia is to provide free content that others can modify and/or redistribute. You might find the Wikipedia:Copyright FAQ helpful. I hope this answers your question. Let me know if not. Angela. 08:29, Nov 17, 2004 (UTC)
Will you please tell the source of this photo? And why you assert fair use for it? If it is a NASA photo, it is in the public domain. Let me work with you on this. — Xiong熊talk 20:18, 2005 Apr 20 (UTC)
Pic of the day
editHi JediMaster,
Just to let you know that your photo Image:Rainiersourdoughridge.JPG is due to make a reappearance as Pic of the Day on the 14th September. I've reused the same caption as last time, but you can make any changes at Wikipedia:Picture of the day/September 14, 2005. -- Solipsist 22:13, 9 September 2005 (UTC)
Star Wars Wikiproject
editHello! Thank you for participating in the Star Wars Wikiproject. The participants section has recently been changed so it would be appreciated that you put the template {{User Star Wars WikiProject}} onto your Userpage so that you appear in Category:WikiProject Star Wars members. That way you appear in the listing of WikiProject Star Wars members. Jedi6 04:22, 20 February 2006 (UTC)

Mount Rainier FP
editHi, JediMaster16. I'm not sure if you're still about on Wikipedia all that much, but I'm sorry to inform you that your Mount Rainier image has been nominated for delisting. One of the concerns is that it no longer meets the resolution requirements. You mention in the original nomination that you have downsampled this image from 4MP. Would it be possible to upload the full-resolution version? Regards, --YFB ¿ 00:15, 30 April 2007 (UTC)
Non-free use disputed for Image:Ss00047.jpg
editThis file may be deleted. |
Thanks for uploading Image:Ss00047.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read carefully the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content and then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our Criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.Betacommand (talk • contribs • Bot) 07:25, 23 May 2007 (UTC)
Featured pictures reminder
editI'm not sure if you're still around Wikipedia, as you havn't edited for over a month, but I'm just reminding you about Wikipedia:Featured picture candidates/delist/Mt. Rainier, where you said you could upload a high-res version of the image. If you're still around and are able to upload this image that would be great. Thanks. Raven4x4x 06:37, 23 June 2007 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:Ro4.jpg
editThanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Ro4.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Videmus Omnia Talk 15:46, 20 August 2007 (UTC)
Speedy deletion of Template:Openswtasks
editA tag has been placed on Template:Openswtasks requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section T3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a deprecated or orphaned template. After seven days, if it is still unused and the speedy deletion tag has not been removed, the template will be deleted.
If the template is intended to be substituted, please feel free to remove the speedy deletion tag and please consider putting a note on the template's page indicating that it is substituted so as to avoid any future mistakes (<noinclude>{{transclusionless}}</noinclude>).
Thanks. --MZMcBride (talk) 04:20, 16 February 2008 (UTC)
AfD nomination of Nom Anor
editI have nominated Nom Anor, an article you created, for deletion. I do not feel that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Nom Anor. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? Judgesurreal777 (talk) 23:21, 6 May 2008 (UTC)
Speedy deletion of Meerkat (software)
editA tag has been placed on Meerkat (software) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an article with no content whatsoever, or whose contents consist only of external links, "See also" section, book reference, category tag, template tag, interwiki link, rephrasing of the title, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. Wheelchair Epidemic (talk) 00:21, 2 August 2008 (UTC)
Proposed deletion of Comparison of web based file managers
editA proposed deletion template has been added to the article Comparison of web based file managers, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}}
notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Oracle userbox
editI disabled the Oracle logo in User:Archer1742/Oracle Certified because it is a fair use image. According to WP:NFCC#9, fair use images should only be displayed in articles. If you have an exemption, please note it on the userbox talk page. Thanks. Wronkiew (talk) 20:43, 18 October 2008 (UTC)
- The userbox talk page has a fair use rationale but not an exemption. Please see Wikipedia:Non-free content criteria exemptions for more information about exemptions from the non-free criteria. Also, you can request an exemption on the associated talk page. Generally, these are only given for maintenance pages. If your userbox is given an exemption, it will be listed in Category:Wikipedia non-free content criteria exemptions, which might make the bots stop bothering you about it. WikiProject Star Wars invitation
editI have noticed that you are listed as a member of the Star Wars WikiProject, which has been defunct for a long time. I would like to inform you that I am attempting to revitalize it. As such, I would officially like to invite you to participate in the project once again. If you are interested, please sign your name at Wikipedia Talk:WikiProject Star Wars#February 2009 Roll Call. Hope to see you soon! Firestorm (talk) 03:54, 19 February 2009 (UTC)
Care to explain your reversal? You know this article is doomed to eternal stubness and orphan status. Drmies (talk) 04:08, 16 March 2009 (UTC)
- How could it possibly be expanded? It's barely notable as it is, and it's unlikely that it'll become some national dish or something. Tucking it into the bacon article is a natural fit--note the "Bacon" part in the name. Drmies (talk) 04:29, 24 March 2009 (UTC)
A tag has been placed on The Silver Gryphon, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing no content to the reader. Please note that external links, "See also" section, book reference, category tag, template tag, interwiki link, rephrasing of the title, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article don't count as content. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.
Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. If you plan to expand the article, you can request that administrators wait a while for you to add contextual material. To do this, affix the template {{hangon}}
to the page and state your intention on the article's talk page. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this.
- I nominated the article as it is only one sentence long and so, in my opinion, it does not provide sufficient context. Please bear in mind that, while you may disagree with the tagging, it was done in good faith! If there's something I've missed or if you've just forgotten about the article and intend to improve it, I would strongly advise you to follow the procedure documented in the template notice. Regards, HJ Mitchell (talk) 07:44, 19 April 2009 (UTC)
- Well then just add something to it! Once it gets deleted, it'll be unrevivable without admin action. Archer1742 (talk) 12:23, 29 April 2009 (UTC)
AfD nomination of List of web based file managers
editAn editor has nominated one or more articles which you have created or worked on, for deletion. The nominated article is List of web based file managers. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also Wikipedia:Notability and "What Wikipedia is not").
Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion(s) by adding your comments to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of web based file managers. Please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).
You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate.
Please note: This is an automatic notification by a bot. I have nothing to do with this article or the deletion nomination, and can't do anything about it. --Erwin85Bot (talk) 01:09, 24 January 2010 (UTC)
A bit over a year ago, you commented in the afd discussion for Comparison of web based file managers. It was shortly thereafter reposted by its creator as List of web based file managers, which is currently on afd itself. I invite you to participate in the new discussion. —Korath (Talk) 18:43, 27 January 2010 (UTC)
Speedy deletion nomination of Ashes of the Singularity
editHello Archer1742,
I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Ashes of the Singularity for deletion, because the article doesn't clearly say why the subject is important enough to be included in an encyclopedia.
If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.
You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. BeowulfBrower (talk) 20:25, 17 September 2015 (UTC)
Orphaned non-free image File:NJO-UnifyingForce.jpg
editThanks for uploading File:NJO-UnifyingForce.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in section F5 of the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --B-bot (talk) 17:45, 30 May 2021 (UTC)
