A tag has been placed on North South University Social Services Club requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a club, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

You can also visit the the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Status and Advice

edit

As reviewing administrator, I had to delete the article. There were two reasons: first , the article did not indicate any plausible encyclopedic importance--university social and philanthropic clubs are almost never considered notable here, because their activities are purely local. The other reason was that the article was entirely promotional, basically saying without any real evidence how useful the club was, and why people should support it, We don't do that.

A Wikipedia article needs to show notability with references providing substantial coverage from 3rd party independent published reliable sources, print or online, but not blogs or press releases, or material derived from press releases. University newspapers are not consider reliable sources to show the importance of university activities, because they typically report them all indiscriminately, It also needs to be written like an encyclopedia article, not a press release--don't praise the organization, say what it does. And remember not to copy from a web site -- first it's a copyright violation, but, even if you give us permission according to WP:DCM, the tone will not be encyclopedic and the material will not be suitable.

I do not want to discourage you, but to urge you to write help us by improving our other articles on topics in your area. For example, we have very sketchy articles on most towns in Bangladesh, and they need to expanded. Local newspaper are good sources for this--they don't have to be on the net. (We regard every populated town and even village as worth an article, but I'd urge you to work on the larger towns first). And everyone who was ever a member of the Bangladesh parliament is also an appropriate subject for an article. You just need reliable sources documented the career. When you do write these articles,I have two key points of advice:
1/ do not copy from a web site; rewrite the information from scratch
2/ put in a reference to a published source at the very first edit. This is particularly important for articles about living people, which will be deleted if there are no references.

If I can help you further, let me know on my user talk page. DGG ( talk ) 20:06, 28 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

A tag has been placed on User:ArmanTahaboor/North South University Social Services Club requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from http://nsussc.org/about-us. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.
