Bowling Books

Hi,

Your bot? has changed the bowling books pages - said it may delete them for being "nn book" - fair enough but what does that mean so I am able to expand?

Hi FK, there are a few problems with the way you're writing and editing, and I think it would help if you'd take time to read our content policies: WP:NPOV, WP:NOR, WP:V, and WP:BLP. In particular, material must be written from a neutral point of view, and in a disinterested tone, and must be carefully sourced. Your writing displays a strong pro-animal rights POV, which means that a lot of your edits will be reverted, whereas if you edit within our content policies, you'll find they'll be more likely to stick. Its more or less a rule of thumb, most of the things i creat are afd'd, and most of them are keept. But people want them to go away, and you need to be well informed and stuborn to not get scared away. I even have my own team of editors that follow me to whadever i do, i cant even do something in a totaly unrelated article for them to show up and start hassling me. Hiya, I got your message about Rocco DeLuca and the Burden. I edited the Rocco article after watching Sky 1's I Trust you to kill me documentary . To be honest I'm a massive Kiefer Sutherland fan, so I don't know much about the band other than his involvement, and I don't know if I can help you. Sorry that I can't be much help. • PS Your Rocco article says that citations are needed for when Kiefer said he was sacked by the band. I don't know how to cite, but if you go to the Kiefer Rocks website, under 'news' you can view a clip from the The Tonight Show With Jay Leno (from 19 April) that shows Kiefer saying the quote that appears in your article (that mucisians are 'nuts'). Katja Lane

Hello. I deleted the article because someone else had tagged it {{db-bio}}. All the article contained was that she was the wife of an imprisoned Wotanist and a co-founder of his organisation (together with lots of "see also" wikilinks). I didn't think this lends her notability per WP:BIO. The closest WP:BIO criterion I could find was, "Persons achieving renown or notoriety for their involvement in newsworthy events, such as by being assassinated," and I don't think she qualifies there. If you have more information about her, please resubmit an article that explains more clearly why joint-foundation of this organisation makes her notable. No problem. I am trying to help, not hinder. Since a couple of the articles like Odin Brotherhood and the one on its author have been deleted once via AfD, they could be speedily deleted at any time. Therefore it is important to see that these articles conform to Wikipedia standards. More information on "Teachings of the Odin Brotherhood." It was "printed" by Thule Publications, PO Box 4542, Portland, Oregon 97208, USA. There is no ISBN. Athough nicely done, it appears to have been an underground publication--one "off the radar."

If I remember correctly, the leader of a "Thule" group was assaulted with a baseball bat some years ago in Portland. That may explain why the web site no longer exists for this Thule group.--Jkelley 21:32, 19 November 2006 (UTC)

The Odin Brotherhood is a secret society for men and women who value “knowledge, freedom, and power.”

The Brotherhood practices the ancient warrior religion called Odinism. Consecrated to the pagan gods of the Norse pantheon --gods viewed as "older, better, and truer"- members of the Brotherhood use the so-called Eddaic Verses–also called the Poetic Edda–as a kind of scripture.

Members claim their pagan order was established in 1421 to protect the ancient religion during the "Burning Times," and they insist it has existed in unbroken lineage to the present. If the claim is accurate, the Odin Brotherhood resembles the Tariquat, the secret brotherhoods in Islam that sustain the traditions underground in times of intense persecution.

Who Established the Odin Brotherhood?

Their myth of foundation –albeit interesting– is fantastic. Like the story of Hiram Abif in Freemasonry, the foundation myth of the Brotherhood involves a crime against innocence.

In the legend of the Brotherhood, the story begins when a young pagan widow was caught honoring her ancient gods and goddesses in a remote grotto. For her action, an angry mob burned her on a pyre composed of green wood.

After the murder, the woman’s three children used an ancient and forbidden rite from paganism (a rite called necromancy) and summoned her from beyond the grave.

Answering the summons, the slain woman instructed her children to save the ancient religion of Odinism by taking the movement underground. They were instructed to form a secret society–a "conspiracy of equals"--dedicated to the old gods.

According to the Odin Brotherhood, all of these events occurred somewhere in Eurasia–somewhere north of the Black Sea--in the fifteenth century of the current era.

How Does One Join the Odin Brotherhood?

Traditionally, the teachings are spread from person to person. Only by word of mouth, from mind to mind, could the secrets pass.

Today, however, with more written information appearing in manuscript and in published form, solitary practitioners (“lone wolves” who initiate themselves)–are becoming more common.

In its current form, membership in the Odin Brotherhood is secret–as in the so-called Illuminati conspiracy. The objectives of the Odin Brotherhood are stated publicly, as in the legendary Rosicrucians.

Secret Societies are still illegal in some countries. As Nick Harding points out in Secret Societies, for example, they are forbidden by the constitution of Poland.

The Rite of Blood

Joining the Odin Brotherhood involves a kind of vision quest cemented by a ceremony of blood.

In ancient religion, without blood there is no power. That is the reason that animals were cut in half when the biblical Jehovah made his covenant with Abraham.

Also, because of the power of blood Jewish boys are circumcised on the eighth day.

The initiation rite of the Odin Brotherhood--which is based on the “marking with the spear” rite described by the medieval author Snorri Sturluson, involves solitude, a diet of bread and ice, a dagger, and a fire.

The initiate –after proper purification– makes three incisions on his body. He then devotes, hallows, and sanctifies his soul to the “gods who live” by penetrating a fire three times with a dagger stained with his own blood.

From the beginning, the movement--in spite of its name--has included women.

Theology, Devotion, and Ethics

The Odin Brotherhood embraces polytheism. The gods, which include Odin, Thor, Frigga, Heimdall, Vidar, Tyr, Freya, and the other beings in the Norse pantheon, are viewed as powerful entities that are finite in nature. The gods are not omnipotent—they are not omniscient—but they accomplish their wills through struggle, not fiats. Humanoid in shape, the gods are physical beings that inhabit hidden corridors in the universe. Often appearing on earth in disguise, they are known by many names in many languages. Odin, for example, appears also as Hermes and Rudra. Believing in direct contact with the gods, the Odin Brotherhood teaches that deities typically communicate with humanity through a system of "messengers and spies."

Devotionally, members of the Odin Brotherhood do not worship the gods on their knees. Refusing to be slaves, Odinists admire the gods but do not grovel before them.

Ethically, the Odin Brotherhood creates no laws, only virtues. The Odin Brotherhood glorifies "thought, courage, honor, light, and beauty."

A tradition for warriors, the Odin Brotherhood teaches that "when the gods made man, they made a weapon." The Odin Brotherhood represents strength over weakness, pride over humility, and knowledge over faith.

Death and Afterlife

The Odin Brotherhood teaches that all beings ultimately experience death. In poetic terms, death is personified as beautiful females--called the valkyries--who exist "in an endless variety of exquisite forms."

Since death is not annihilation, the "transfigured life form" will go to one of three Other-Worlds. The most famous of these "Other-Worlds" is Valhalla.

In cosmic terms, death is described as Ragnarok, the final battle which destroys every universe. According to the Odin Brotherhood, Ragnarok is an "orgy of purification" from which a new cosmos is born. The cycle of destruction and rebirth--which will go on forever--is called the Law-of-the-Endless-Circle."

Also called the "eternal return," the "Law-of-the-Endless-Circle" teaches that existence never ends with destruction. "Nothing dies forever," and all beings--and all things--will return.

Discovery and Exposure of the Brotherhood Today

The Odin Brotherhood's was first exposed to the general public in 1992 with the publication of the book The Odin Brotherhood by Dr. Mark L. Mirabello, who is a professor of European history at Shawnee State University.

First contact was made when Mirabello encountered a silver-haired man in a bookshop in Leith, in the United Kingdom. At the time, Mirabello was conducting historical reseach as a doctoral student in Scotland's University of Glasgow.

The feasts were referred to as "conventicles," and they were by invitation only. Those who "feared" or "hated" authority were excluded, but those who "laughed at" authority were welcome.

Some years after the publication of Mirabello's book, the anonymous and privately printed Teachings of the Odin Brotherhood began to circulate. Copies of the latter are rare.

From the look of the discussion page, the assertion that he coined the term remains unsourced. If someone doesn't come forward in a reasonable period of time, I'd pull the comment from that article. Einstein plaigiarist?

The only people who believe Einstein is a plaigiarist are a small group of white supremacists and outspoken anti-Semites (most of which also happen to be Holocaust deniars). It is not a theory which has any standing in the non-crackpot community at all. It is not a notable POV to represent; the number of people who seriously advocate it can be counted on one hand. Their voice gets magnified with something like the internet, of course, but it is a small, fringe blip. To even discuss it at all on the Einstein page would give it undue weight under our NPOV policy. In any case we already have an article (Relativity priority dispute) which covers most of the bases and keeps it out of the main article. In any case, at least one of the links you listed doesn't even have anything to do with that — read the post-script on this one. --Fastfission 02:28, 15 December 2006 (UTC)

Gaislochsteig (Loswand): At first the Gaislochsteig was only secured by a steel rope erected by the ÖTK (donated by Mr. Türcke). The construction of the Steig (path/via ferrata) we owe to Mr. Guido List, who, on 8. May 1876 fell during a definitely perilous ascent attempt, past the rocks by a vertical altitude of more than 20m, without being hurt seriously. In thankful rememberance of that lucky fall he let the most dangerous places be secured with brackets and chains, out of his own expense. On the 28. 29. and 30. November 1870 [sic] 8 lumberjacks erected 300kg of chains across a length of 48 meters. Even earlier the Gaislochsteig was allegedly equipped with chains on the order of Archduke Johann. The wall, netted with water, is however subject to a constand process of destruction which repeatedly makes fortifies paths inaccessible by tearing out single strands of rock. Robert, Since you seem to have the most invested in the Freya Aswynn entry I'm writing to appeal to you to shape up the entry. As it stands it really should be nominated for deletion. It looks like all the information is coming directly from her site, which whether true or not is self promotion and not acceptable. Also, it seems that her real name is something like "Elizabeth Hooy-schuur", or at least so it is stated in the following article [4]. See also in the responses to this piece, below the article, that supposedly Freya uses a different spelling of this same name. Anyway, my point with all of that is that if she has a legal name then both should be mentioned. You could follow the protocol used for Edred Thorsson/Stephen Flowers. That is to say, Edred links to Flowers where the actual entry is. Either way, you need to specify that Freya Aswynn is a pseudonym if it is one. That's at least a start. If no materials other than those provided by her are available, the entry should be very specific about this as well. Freya claims ... etc. I hope that helps and I hope you can salvage the entry. Unreferenced material in Germanic mysticism

Hello. As far as I can trace it back, it appears that the following passage was originally authored by yourself:

Ariosophy has been termed a theoretical precursor of the Nazi genocide. However, the foremost expert on Guido von List in the English-speaking world, Stephen E. Flowers, refuses to connect the theories of List and other early 20th century rune magicians directly to the excesses of Auschwitz. One German academic, Stefanie von Schnurbein (1992: 136), in commenting on Flowers' introduction to The Secret of the Runes, states:

Dabei erwähnt [Flowers] an keiner Stelle, daß List und die anderen Ariosophen Vordenker des Rassenwahns des Nationalsozialismus waren... (In this work [Flowers] nowhere mentions that List and the other Ariosophists were intellectual predecessors of the racial madness of National Socialism...)

Although it is now considered conventional wisdom that the ideas of List, Lanz and others were directly implemented in the Nazi genocide, Flowers states that this is “with little to no actual critical investigation”. Because the very term “Ariosophy” was analogous to its predecessor, “Theosophy”, it has also been argued that the racial ideas in Ariosophy can be traced to Theosophy. Flowers states that “no one has ever shown that racial policies of the NSDAP are based on so-called 'Ariosophical' ideas.”

It has further been argued that even the writings of the most "extreme" of the Ariosophists, Lanz von Liebenfels, cannot be definitively linked to the applied anti-semitism of the Nazis. Apologists for Lanz state that he did not write unfavorably about the Jewish race, that he cooperated with Jewish scholars in many of his publications, and while it can be argued that individual Nazis became familiar with the mystical racism of Theosophy through the works of List and Lanz, it does not necessarily follow that List and Lanz were culpable in the crimes of the Nazis.

This entire block was recently deleted from Germanic mysticism. I intend to put it back, suitably rewritten, and wondered if you could possibly fill in some of the missing citations, especially for Flowers? Please post it on my user talk page afterwards.

I had noticed that you did not write anything on the talk page of Germanic mysticism, when we discussed the move to Ariosophy. I would have been interested in your opinion (and I hope that you would not have disagreed too strongly).

Anyway, I acknowledge that you have an interest in Esotericism in Germany. Whereas I will admit that my interest in Ariosophy is based on its connection to Nazism (whatever that may be), I also acknowledge that an interest in this field for esoteric reasons is legitimate. To deal with this topic, I have created the article Esotericism in Germany and Austria, with material from Nazi occultism. I wonder if you would be interested in expanding it, and if you like I would also invite you to join the WikiProject Occult.

Hi Rob - Sharon was a very nasty piece of work, and it's a great shame he'll never face justice for it. I am not the one who deleted Andy Chung - I merely marked it for someone else to delete it - so I cannot retrieve the text for you. You could ask User:Coredesat to retrieve the text for you but he might decline because the text was a copyright violation. The simplest thing for you would be to go to http://www.andychung.co.uk/biography.html which was the source of the text and use that as a source for writing a new article that does not copy word for word the other web site. Allegations of apartheid deletion notification

Some time ago, you participated in a deletion discussion concerning Allegations of Israeli apartheid. I thought you might like to know that the parent article, Allegations of apartheid, was recently nominated for deletion. Given that many of the issues that have been raised are essentially the same as those on the article on which you commented earlier, you may have a view on whether Allegations of apartheid should be kept or deleted.
