Hi Sulfurboy!

I wrote this on your page, but figure to response here. Appreciate the feedback about the Beyond Better Foods article. I wasn't sure whether to put an article about the product, or the company which mentions the product, since they're always mentioned together. Would it make sense, and address this, to switch this title or article to be Enlightened ice cream itself? That feels like an advertisement, no?

The main thing is this definitely FEELS like it should be here since its clear its reach, impact, and distribution is so sizable. The product is available all over the country and has been reviewed and covered by many (these were just a handful) outlets and individuals. Nearly of those outlets are completely independent of the company - women's health, Nosh, Redbook, Popsugar, Today.com....these were just a few (I figured at some point it merited stopping). All of these are staking their claim with editorial integrity to their readers - giving opinions on a product, often what companies like Women's Health is known for. This much coverage certainly establishes some kind of notability, no?

What would you suggest? doing? Let me know if switching this to just Enlightened, and mentioned that its made by Beyond Better Foods) make more sense, or if you have an alternative suggestion.

Thanks! Articlegooroo (talk) 02:26, 4 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

Hello Articlegooroo. The nature of your edits gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially egregious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to black-hat SEO.

Paid advocates are very strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists, and if it does not, from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.

Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:Articlegooroo. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Articlegooroo|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, do not edit further until you answer this message. Julietdeltalima (talk) 17:21, 8 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

Hi User:Julietdeltalima,

You are definitely mistaken here. Apologies for the delay here. I am not being compensated in any form whatsoever, have not been asked by the company to do this, etc. If there was any indication that there was some benefit or connection at this point, it was definitely not intentional and incorrect. Quite honestly, I was using other articles that I found on similar topics as a basis - Halo Top Creamery, Ben and Jerry's, Pepperidge Farm, as well as larger companies like Skinny Cow, etc.

I understand the importance of this.

Anyway, yeah. Let me know if there's anything else I need to do here. Articlegooroo (talk) 21:58, 14 April 2020 (UTC)Reply
