Using multiple accounts

edit

Kamilalibhat, it states at User:AskBot that you operate this account. Is this correct? If so, could you explain its purpose? Per WP:IU, usernames should only include the word bot to identify bot accounts, which this doesn't appear to be. Cordless Larry (talk) 10:31, 17 January 2021 (UTC)Reply

@Cordless Larry: Thanks for informing. This may be any friend of mine who wrote this. I don't know about its name. I will look into the matter if anyone if my friend is using this account. If possible, I will certainly remove the statement. Happy editing! Kamilalibhat (talk) 14:02, 17 January 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. I noticed that your username, "AskBot", may not meet Wikipedia's username policy because it contains the suffix "-bot", which is generally reserved for authorized bot accounts. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. As an alternative, you may file for a change of username, or you may simply create a new account and use that for editing. Thank you. Red Phoenix talk 14:05, 17 January 2021 (UTC)Reply

@Red Phoenix: I have nominated my name to be changed. I read the Wikipedia:username policy and really I saw my username does not meet it. I don't know will my username be changed or not, but I know that I was unaware of username policy. I had no clear intention to name myself as 'AskBot'. It seemed good and I kept it. By the way thanks to inform. AskBot (talk) 20:25, 17 January 2021 (UTC)Reply

Your account has been blocked from editing Wikipedia because your username, AskBot, contains the suffix "-bot", which is generally reserved for authorized bot accounts.
You are encouraged to choose a new account name that meets our username policy guidelines and create the account yourself. Alternatively, if you wish for your existing contributions to carry over under a new name, then you may request a change in username by:
  1. Adding {{unblock-un|your new username here}} below. You should be able to do this even though you are blocked. If not, you may wish to contact the blocking administrator by clicking on "Email this user" from their talk page.
  2. At an administrator's discretion, you may be unblocked for 24 hours to file a change of name request.
  3. Please note that you may only request a name that is not already in use. Therefore, please check the list here to see if a name is taken prior to requesting a change of name.
Appeals: If, after reading the guide to appealing blocks you believe you were blocked in error, then you may appeal this block by adding {{unblock|Your reason here}} below this notice. — JJMC89(T·C) 19:52, 18 January 2021 (UTC)Reply
Dear AskBot, you have requested a rename, however the name you have chosen is already used. Please choose another name. Sincerely, Taketa (talk) 10:40, 20 January 2021 (UTC)Reply

Copy-and-paste move

edit

Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give Draft:Soibugh a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into Soibugh. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Requests for history merge. Thank you. Multiple account

edit

Hi EditorThanos, I was asked to check if you had been using more than one account. You are strongly encouraged to stick to one usual account. Sometimes alternative account might be used for legitimate reasons, but such accounts need to remain transparent and not act in a way that is perceived by other editors as deception. For more complete information on this policy, see Wikipedia:Sockpuppetry. Inappropriate uses of alternative accounts can have serious consequences, so it is important for every editor to understand and adhere to the policy. Please do not hesitate to ask if you have any further questions. - Mailer Diablo 21:15, 8 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

Wikipedia's technical logs indicate that this user account has been or may be used abusively. It has been blocked indefinitely from editing to prevent abuse.

Note that multiple accounts are allowed, but not for illegitimate reasons, and any contributions made while evading blocks or bans may be reverted or deleted.
If you think there are good reasons why you should be unblocked, you should review the guide to appealing blocks, and then appeal your block by adding the following text below this notice: {{unblock|Your reason here ~~~~}}. Note that anything you post in your unblock request will be public, so you may alternatively use the Unblock Ticket Request System to submit an appeal if it contains information that must be private.

Administrators: Checkusers have access to confidential system logs not accessible by the public or by administrators due to the Wikimedia Foundation's privacy policy. You must not loosen or remove this block, or issue an IP block exemption, without consulting with a checkuser or the Arbitration Committee. Administrators who undo checkuser blocks without permission from a checkuser or the Arbitration Committee may be summarily desysopped.
