Lists of Unicode Ligatures Homoglyphs
editHi Erik, can I ask you what is your intention for User:AtErik1/List of Unicode Ligatures Homoglyphs, Part 1 of 2 and User:AtErik1/List of Unicode Ligatures Homoglyphs, Part 2 of 2 ? If they are drafts of articles that you plan to move to the mainspace soon that is fine (although they still may be nominated for deletion as recreations of a deleted article), but it is not OK to leave them in your user space permanently because that is against the guidelines of what you may keep on you user pages (see in particular the section on User pages that look like articles). If "List of Unicode Ligatures Homoglyphs" is not a suitable article for Wikipedia you should consider hosting the information on your own web site where there are no restrictions on what you can or cannot do. Thanks for your understanding. BabelStone (talk) 08:53, 8 April 2017 (UTC)
- Hi BabelStone. I did not appreciate at-all that wikipedia users/editors, (including you participated and) deleted a newly created (around one/two weeks older) page/article without anyone working on it for improvement, but worked for deletion !!! I've created it, and worked on it, no one else worked on it, and i was working on improving it, going through pages & pages of Unicodes. But groups of editors decided to delete !!! and sudden addition of deletion related comment also caused loss of 4-1/2 hours of work on this! And now its under my userspace for further improvement, editors with well-intentions are welcome to "improve" it here. I cannot constantly & continuously work on it, i need time for improvements, when improvements are sufficiently done, then it will be moved into mainspace by me, thats my request to wikipedia/editors. By the way, I really need to UNDERSTAND, how a list of "LIGATURE" can be deleted by users, just because few users "think" its weird or whatever ?!!! We use ligature glyphs/characters, abbreviations, acronyms, etc from various different & other language-scripts in our daily latin/english life/writings, (in many cases many of us do not even have idea where that ligature/abbreviations/acronyms actually came from). We often do not understand all of them, and neither does it need to be understood by all. If communicator users understand it, then thats sufficient. Which will be meaningful to whom is upto the interpreter and on various usage factors. Some glyphs or similar looking glyphs are common to many language-scripts & their meanings & usage varies widely. There is no law how one should use ligature/glyphs from other language-scripts in one's communication or in their writings. Your comments/statements are clear that "List of Unicode Ligatures Homoglyphs" is not suitable for wikipedia, so you are suggesting to move to my own webspace or move to mainspace !!! i'm quoting from RfC held in April 2016: "Userspace drafts which do not meet article content standards should not be moved to mainspace in order to seek deletion". And I would also like to hear solutions+reasons about these issues/actions from other admins. I really hope that you/wikipedia/editors consider what i have requested. -- AtErik1 (talk) 11:06, 8 April 2017 (UTC)
- Pinging @BabelStone: for a follow-up here. Part 1 looks like WP:FAKEARTICLE to me, and I'm tempted to take it to MfD. AtErik1, regarding your RFC quote, it is correct that user pages should not be moved to mainspace to seek deletion, but that does not mean user pages cannot be taken to deletion discussions. Wikipedia is not an indiscriminate collection of random information. It is pretty clear that a CJK character which looks like latin character(s) is original research, and therefore unsuitable for mainspace. – Train2104 (t • c) 15:42, 11 April 2017 (UTC)
- Thanks Train2104 for pinging me. I was going to wait a week and see if there was any development. If AtErik1 intends to leave these two lists in his user space as pseudo-articles then I will take them to MfD, unless you want to do that first. BabelStone (talk) 19:18, 11 April 2017 (UTC)
- To @Train2104, Unicode is a like a dictionary of alphabets. A LIST based on certain category from such type of collection cannot be placed for deletion. You should see various lists shown here, these are collected from dictionary: Lists of English words , List of words that may be spelled with a ligature , List of English homographs, List of true homonyms. Or see LISTs of symbols collected from various other collection, records or Unicodes: List of symbolic stars , List of symbols. MANY OF THESE ARTICLES/PAGES ARE SHOWN IN NO-SPECIFIC-ORDER, OR NO-ORDER INSIDE SUB-SECTIONs. Why those pages are not discussed for deletion ? or discussed for deletion by you ? Various types of Ligatures exist inside Unicode collection, or in some type of dictionary/encyclopedia, and outside of Unicode/collection/encyclopedia, anyone can see those, find those & show it in a LIST, these symbols/ligatures/words are not originally created/invented by them, people simply creating a list to find them quickly. -- AtErik1 (talk) 20:21, 11 April 2017 (UTC).
- Many people use CJK & NonCJK ligature in their name & in their nickname, its not a new or original creation/thing, (which i have seen, even used by users here in wikipedia, and not to mention in twitter, etc). In twitter, people are using CJK & NON-CJK ligatures in their messages, to squeeze in more texts. All messages are in public domain. All ligatures/symbols are in public-domain. I was using these (including many other users) in twitter, and i decided its time to place these ligatures (in wikipedia) where people can add more ligatures, for people. Google/etc supports searching Unicode chars, search can easily show CJK & NonCJK ligatures are used in many genre of areas. Some wikipedia users assuming+assessing incorrectly on a LIST of LIGATURES/SYMBOLS! -- AtErik1 (talk) 21:52, 11 April 2017 (UTC)
- First, WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS is not a valid argument against deletion. Second, most of the lists you cited are just lists of symbols, without the very subjective WP:OR interpretation that you have put in to them in Part 1. Just because people use them for nicknames and/or tweets doesn't make them encyclopedic. Note that I'm talking about Part 1. I don't see a strong argument for deleting Part 2 as it is besides WP:FAKEARTICLE. @BabelStone: Note that both of these "articles" are being actively edited, so staleness arguments don't apply. Nor did I look at the AfD'd article before it was deleted. If I decide to go for MfD I won't be nominating Part 2. – Train2104 (t • c) 22:47, 11 April 2017 (UTC)
- Adding a note/reference on: usage+support of Non-Latin/CJK/etc characters (and non-latin/CJK ligatures) along with Non-Latin/CJK/etc based names, article/paper-headings/etc (or mixing of Latin & Non-Latin) in Government since 2008, shown in this Library Of Congress PDF/doc, not to mention many other organization, institutions, (software support) supported mixing of latin & non-latin characters based names, words, title, etc, much earlier than 2008. Apple iOS/macOS & Android OS has support (and documents) of mixing Latin & non-Latin/CJK in name fields, for long time. -- AtErik1 (talk) 10:31, 12 April 2017 (UTC)

MfD nomination of User:AtErik1/List of Unicode Ligatures Homoglyphs, Part 1 of 2
editUser:AtErik1/List of Unicode Ligatures Homoglyphs, Part 1 of 2, a page which you created or substantially contributed to (or which is in your userspace), has been nominated for deletion. Your opinions on the matter are welcome; you may participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/User:AtErik1/List of Unicode Ligatures Homoglyphs, Part 1 of 2 and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). You are free to edit the content of User:AtErik1/List of Unicode Ligatures Homoglyphs, Part 1 of 2 during the discussion but should not remove the miscellany for deletion template from the top of the page; such a removal will not end the deletion discussion. Thank you. – Train2104 (t • c) 21:34, 12 April 2017 (UTC)
List of Unicode Ligatures Homoglyphs, Part 2 of 2
editIn my opinion User:AtErik1/List of Unicode Ligatures Homoglyphs, Part 2 of 2 is a valid list of Unicode symbol characters (i.e. all characters defined in the Unicode Standard as having the Unicode general category property of Sm, Sc, Sk or So), and I would not nominate it for deletion. However, there is already an article on Unicode symbols, and as that article is very incomplete I suggest to Erik that he merges the content of User:AtErik1/List of Unicode Ligatures Homoglyphs, Part 2 of 2 with Unicode symbols. Mail server packages moved to draftspace
editAn article you recently created, Mail server packages, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:
" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Speedy deletion nomination of IRedMail
editIf this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on IRedMail, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. - What you've done here is just to repeat the advertisement that you included in the article. Can you think of any good reason you shouldn't be blocked for spamming? Deb (talk) 07:04, 12 August 2020 (UTC)
