Our Similarities
editGreetings, Baberlp, I am Acalamari. I've noticed that we have a few things in common. I will name them:
We are both born on November 29th.
We are both born in 1990.
We both like writing (though this is not mentioned on my User Page).
We are both listed in the 1990 births category (which is different to the "Wikipedians born in 1990" category).
I am also wondering if you might have come across me or my User Page at all. If not, that's fine. You are the only User I've encountered that's similar to me in these ways. If you can find any other things in common, please tell me. Acalamari 00:55, 4 January 2007 (UTC)
- Interesting, isn't it? I didn't expect to come across anyone on Wikipedia who completely shared a birthday with me, or had other similarities. Did you ever come across me before I posted the last message? You must have done since you're in the 1990 births category. Acalamari 20:25, 5 January 2007 (UTC)
Birth category on your User Page
editHi. Will you please change the [[Category:1990 births]] on your User Page to [[Category:Wikipedians born in 1990]]. The category you are using is for articles, not Wikipedians. Thanks. --EarthPerson 21:37, 14 January 2007 (UTC)
- Done. Baberlp 20:22, 19 January 2007 (UTC)
- Don't worry, Baberlp, I removed the one on mine. Acalamari 20:22, 19 January 2007 (UTC)
Article proposed for deletion
editI have added a "{{prod}}" template to the article Mikhail Ali, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but I don't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and I've explained why in the deletion notice (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia, or, if you disagree with the notice, discuss the issues at its talk page. Removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, but the article may still be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached, or if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria. DanielEng 11:14, 16 January 2007 (UTC)
My response.
editYes, we are still born in 1990 (both born on November 29th!). I'd also like to be Wikipedia-worthy one day, but for the moment, I am happy that I am worthy to Wikipedia by contributing constructively. As for how I am doing, (NOTE: some of this may be out of date next time you read this) I am doing great. I recently surpassed the 1,000 edits mark, and will soon reach 1,100. I have reverted vandalism, removed trolling, corrected punctuation, corrected grammar and spelling, reported Users with offensive Usernames, created categories...I'll stop there, otherwise I'll go on and on. I am currently on editor review, and I'm waiting to see what goes on with that. Acalamari 22:05, 19 January 2007 (UTC)
- Actually, I'm already at 1,100 edits. You will be able to see that at the editor review link that I put there. Acalamari 22:06, 19 January 2007 (UTC)

Rollback
editHi Baberlp, I've granted your account rollback rights to help you revert vandalism more easily. Rollback is a tool to be used for reverting vandalism, and should not be used to revert good-faith edits, and not to revert-war either. For practice, you may wish to see Wikipedia:New admin school/Rollback. If you do not want rollback, just let me know, and I'll remove it. Good luck. Acalamari 23:03, 12 May 2008 (UTC)
- You're welcome! You'll find it very useful for reverting obvious vandalism. Best wishes. Acalamari 17:58, 15 May 2008 (UTC)

editSpeedy deletion of Gloriana (band)
editA tag has been placed on Gloriana (band) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a band or musician, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for musical topics.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. TrulyBlue (talk) 15:53, 28 November 2008 (UTC)

Something to mention
editHi there Baberlp, this will probably come as a surprise, but there is a chance I'll be able to attend an upcoming British meetup near you: Wikipedia:Meetup/Cambridge 9. From your userpage, you mention that you're going to Cambridge currently, so I assume that that meetup is close to you. I don't know if you go to meetups or not, but I thought I'd mention about that one to you in case you're interested, and that I should be able to go to the event (my editing with my alternate account is because I'm not on my own internet at the moment). Best. Acalamari 17:13, 7 October 2010 (UTC)
- Hi again, Baberlp, I meant to follow up to this earlier but I've been a bit busy recently. Anyway, the meetup took place two weeks ago and I was able to attend it. There will be more meetups, and if you can get to one, I'll look forward to seeing you there. Best. Acalamari (from Bellatrix Kerrigan) 15:26, 6 November 2010 (UTC)
- Hi, sorry, I haven't edited Wikipedia in a while and only just got your message! I'm back now, with a thirst for grammatical and factual accuracy :p It's great to hear that you're around, and do let me know about any future meet-ups in the Cambridge area; I'd love to come. I hope you had a good twentieth birthday Baberlp (talk) 22:16, 13 February 2011 (UTC)
- Hi Baberlp, it's great to hear from you! Great timing, because I think the next Cambridge meetup will take within the next month or so, and I will let you know when it comes up. The one I went to in October was great, and I look forward to going again. Hope to see you soon! :D Acalamari 22:25, 13 February 2011 (UTC)
- Oh, and thanks for the note about my birthday. Yes, it was good, not to mention the first I've spent with relatives in years. Acalamari 22:28, 13 February 2011 (UTC)

Happy birthday!
editHappy 20th birthday, Baberlp! As implied by the section above, we're now on the same time zone, so I hope you're celebrating your birthday at the moment and are having a good time. Best. Acalamari (from Bellatrix Kerrigan) 14:27, 29 November 2010 (UTC)

Meetup
editAs if on cue, it seems that the upcoming meetup is on the 27th of February: Wikipedia:Meetup/Cambridge 10. If you go, remember to look on the upper floor for us! Acalamari 19:13, 14 February 2011 (UTC)
- Unrelated to this section header (I didn't want to create another section here just yet and I should have done this the other day), I've just granted reviewer rights to your account since you're active again, and because you may find the tool useful on occasions. I won't plaster a template on your talk page, so instead I'll link to Wikipedia:Reviewing, Help:Pending changes, and Template:Reviewer granted for information on the tool and what it is. Let me know if you have any questions about it. Best. Acalamari 11:48, 22 February 2011 (UTC)
- There's one coming up on the 21st of May. Acalamari 20:01, 12 May 2011 (UTC)
- First of all, thank you for the reviewing privileges! Secondly, sorry for not getting back to you about the meetup; unfortunately I spent most of last term ill and in and out of hospital. Better now, and hope to come to the next meetup. Hope you're well :) Baberlp (talk) 01:37, 5 June 2011 (UTC)
- Ooh, I'm sorry about that: I didn't realize you were in hospital! I left the note in case you were watching. I'm really glad to hear that you're better now. Best. Acalamari 09:21, 5 June 2011 (UTC)
- Hey, hope you're doing okay. :) The next meetup has been scheduled: http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Meetup/Cambridge/12. Just letting you know! :D Acalamari 22:54, 19 September 2011 (UTC)
Survey
editHi Baberlp!
I have put together a survey for female editors of Wikipedia (and related projects) in order to explore, in greater detail, women's experiences and roles within the Wikimedia movement. It'd be wonderful if you could participate!
It's an independent survey, done by me, as a fellow volunteer Wikimedian. It is not being done on behalf of the Wikimedia Foundation. I hope you'll participate!
Just click this link to participate in this survey, via Google!
Any questions or concerns, feel free to email me or stop by my user talk page. Also, feel free to share this any other female Wikimedians you may know. It is in English, but any language Wikimedia participants are encouraged to participate. I appreciate your contributions - to the survey and to Wikipedia! Thank you! SarahStierch (talk) 03:35, 28 September 2011 (UTC)
Today
editHappy 21st birthday, Baberlp! :D I hope everything is going okay for you...you haven't been around much lately. At any rate, I hope your 21st birthday will be fantastic for you. Best. Acalamari 12:07, 29 November 2011 (UTC)
Hello there!
editHi Baberlp! :) It's okay, there's no need to say you're sorry for not editing: I remember you saying before that you had had some problems, and I was concerned about you. At any rate, I am glad you see your name again. :)
I can still get to Cambridge meetups, yes. Is this one you are sure you can attend? I might be able to go if I know you'll be there; I'd have to see what I'm doing that weekend. Best. Acalamari 08:50, 28 April 2012 (UTC)
- I should be able to get to it so I've put my name down here. Hope to see you there! Acalamari 13:24, 28 April 2012 (UTC)
- Brilliant! I'll definitely make sure I'm there, too! :) No, I'm not in Cambridge itself, and I don't go to the university. As for Carrie Underwood, I love her music (she is third in the articles I've done the most edits to, :D), but would it be okay to know a bit more about the ticket first? Since it isn't a topic for discussing on Wikipedia, and I would like to know a little more about the concert from you before making a decision either way, I would appreciate it if you contacted me at "acalamariwiki at gmail dot com", assuming that's possible for you. At any rate, thank you for the offer. Hope to see you soon! :D Acalamari 19:31, 28 April 2012 (UTC)

Renaming
editHi, I have renamed your account. You should create the single unified login for it here. Two things: firstly, you will not be able to unify the nl.wiki and it.wiki accounts because they have already been created, but as they haven't made any edits since they were registered in 2009 and 2007 respectively, it should be no sweat to usurp them. Secondly, as I understand you own these accounts, you can get them renamed to Ezia on the Spanish Wikipedia and MetaWiki. Doing those two things will attribute all of your previous and future actions under a single username for all Wikimedia Foundation wikis. Incidentally I'm in a neighbouring county and was thinking about going to the Cambridge gathering, so I will possibly see you there! WilliamH (talk) 01:55, 3 May 2012 (UTC)

Cambridge fresher's fair
editHello Becca,
I've bid a stall on behalf of the Cambridge University Wikipedia Society at the Cambridge University fresher's fair, 2-3 October. If you are around, it would be great if you can come and help by staffing the stall for a few hours!
The fair will run, roughly, from 9am to 7pm on the 2nd, and 9am to 4pm on the 3rd; details are yet to be confirmed.[1] You certainly won't be expected to stay the whole day unless you really want to! It'll be a sign-up stall for the campus Wikipedia Society, and we'll give out Wikimedia freebies at the event to promote awareness for Wikipedia-editing and Wikimedia UK.
Please contact me if you're interested in helping, even if it's just a few hours. Thanks! Deryck C. 22:25, 5 September 2012 (UTC)

Help decide the future of Wikimania
editThe Wikimedia Foundation is currently running a consultation on the value and planning process of Wikimania, and is open until 18 January 2016. The goals are to (1) build a shared understanding of the value of Wikimania to help guide conference planning and evaluation, and (2) gather broad community input on what new form(s) Wikimania could take (starting in 2018).
After reviewing the consultation, we'd like to hear your feedback on on this survey.
In addition, feel free to share any personal experiences you have had at at a Wikimedia movement conference, including Wikimania. We plan to compile and share back outcomes from this consultation in February.
With thanks,
