License tagging for Image:Quantel Logo.jpg
editThanks for uploading Image:Quantel Logo.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.
For more information on using images, see the following pages:

Orphaned fair use image (Image:Quantel Logo3.gif)
editThanks for uploading Image:Quantel Logo3.gif. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. regarding Steve Gibson
editI didn't remove the section that you re-added because it was criticism, instead I removed it because it cites a user that makes a post to a public forum. This really does not fall within the guidelines of what is considered to be a relaible source, which is required in order to verify such claims per Wikipedia:Attribution. However, if a journalist wrote an article, or some review which could be cited then this criticism gains some verifable status, rather than being from just some guy. -- malo (tlk) (cntrbtns) 15:40, 9 March 2007 (UTC)
Image tagging for Image:Skyhdtestcard.jpg
editThanks for uploading Image:Skyhdtestcard.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.

Spectrum images
editYour prototype Spectrum images are fascinating, but you're going to have to fix up the licensing: they are blatantly not logos. Cheers --Pak21 13:57, 4 July 2007 (UTC)
Image:Zx82-3.jpg and Image:Zx82.jpg are now tagged as public domain, but I'm afraid it don't say in what way Rick Dickinson released them as such. I'd hate to see them have to go as they are a wonderfull addition to the history of the Speccy. // Liftarn
Update: I talked with him over at Flickr[1] and he has changed the license there to CC-BY-NC-SA, but that doesn't help. Let's see if he's willing to drop the NC. // Liftarn

Image tagging for Image:Steve Gibson.jpg
editThanks for uploading Image:Steve Gibson.jpg. You don't seem to have said where the image came from or who created it. We requires this information to verify that the image is legally usable on Wikipedia, and because most image licenses require giving credit to the image's creator.

Speedy deletion of Image:Zx82.jpg
editA tag has been placed on Image:Zx82.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section I9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted images or text borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on [[ Talk:Image:Zx82.jpg|the talk page]] explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Replaceable fair use Image:Quantel_hq.jpg
editThanks for uploading Image:Quantel_hq.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the media description page and edit it to add
{{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}
, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template. - On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.
If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? Kelly hi! 16:08, 16 May 2008 (UTC)

Do not remove the replaceable-fair-use tags
editHi there. Please do not remove the "replaceable-fair-use" tags from images you have uploaded. Rather, you should add the tag {{di-replaceable fair use disputed|Your reason why a free replacement can not be found or created}} to the image page and provide your reasoning for why the image is not replaceable. This means the situation can be examined by a neutral third party, and decide who is right. Thanks! --Jaysweet (talk) 19:43, 22 May 2008 (UTC)
- I reverted your tag removals: those are valid concerns, no matter how long those images have been left without patrolling. I am frankly tempted to delete them immediately as the only justification for their use is that they are "logos" of Quantel when they are clearly not. If you want the images preserved, you will have to do write actual rationales for their use. Mangojuicetalk 20:19, 22 May 2008 (UTC)
- (Reply to comment on my talk page) Be that as it may, you are not following the appropriate process. Let's say for sake of argument that there is a clear-cut reason why the image is not replaceable. This rationale must be specified on the Image page. There are no exceptions to this stipulation! Even if a valid rationale exists, Kelly is perfectly justified in tagging the images, because the rationale does not exist on the page in question. (The images are tagged as company logos, but that they are clearly not)
- As I said, the proper procedure is to add the "di-replaceable fair use disputed" tag on the page as per the instructions in the template. If your rationale is accepted, then the page will be tagged appropriately and they will never be tagged for deletion again.
- It is very important that you adhere to this process, otherwise the images will be deleted. --Jaysweet (talk) 20:27, 22 May 2008 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free image File:Logo quantel full.jpg
editThanks for uploading File:Logo quantel full.jpg. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not.
