Speedy deletion nomination of Home Brew Crew
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
A tag has been placed on Home Brew Crew requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article, which appears to be about a real person, individual animal(s), an organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, does not indicate how or why the subject of the article is important or significant: that is, why an article about it should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.
If you can assert the importance of the subject, . Clicking that button will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the article's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. You may freely add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.
See the guidelines for specific types of articles: biographies, websites, bands, or companies. SpitfireTally-ho! 22:42, 11 October 2011 (UTC)

Hello, I'm Mediran. I noticed that you recently removed some content from Minister of Housing (New Zealand) without explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry, the removed content has been restored. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks, Mediran talk to me! 09:14, 4 December 2012 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Unity Books
Hello Ballofstring,
I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Unity Books for deletion, because it seems to be promotional, rather than an encyclopedia article.
If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.
You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Alpedio (talk) 23:14, 28 January 2014 (UTC)

The article 2014 Canon Media Awards has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- Not notable awards. No evidence of awards, charting or in depth coverage in independent reliable sources.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Stuartyeates (talk) 19:51, 11 May 2014 (UTC)

Moving named references back in source text is "tidying up"?
Hi, I noticed you made several edits to Evolution (software) which moved the named references from the "References" section back into the text body. Back when I worked on this article I made a conscious decision to use named references in the "References" section because it makes the text body source easier to read. This is supported by WP:LDRHOW. Right now the text body source is a mess again because the very long references make it difficult to read. Most importantly, the policy WP:CITESTYLE forbids moving over the citation style without seeking consensus first. So I'll undo your changes to the citation style, but keep your other changes intact. --AlexanderVanLoon (talk) 08:22, 9 February 2015 (UTC)
- Hi @AlexanderVanLoon:! Thanks for leaving me a message. I wasn't really aware that listing the references in the reflist was a legitimate way of doing references, as I've only ever seen it done in a couple of articles (and just assumed it was a eccentric style). So thanks for linking that WP policy! I'm definitely of the view that having references in the text makes much more sense, but I do understand where you're coming from. Undoing my changes sounds good. Sorry for coming in and changing the style without consulting everyone. I'll be more careful in the future :-) Ballofstring (talk) 08:32, 9 February 2015 (UTC)
- Thank you for your understanding and apologies from my side if my first comment came across as slightly blunt. --AlexanderVanLoon (talk) 08:42, 9 February 2015 (UTC)
New Zealand central govt politicians
Hi Ballofstring, regarding this edit, I thought I'd point out that there should never be a redlink when you link to a former member of parliament from either the upper (Legislative Council) or lower house (House of Representatives), respectively. Every politician that we've ever had at the central government level has a page, so you should always achieve a functioning link. Schwede66 08:56, 14 February 2015 (UTC)
- Hi @Schwede66:! Thanks for the letting me know. I don't think I was aware that every former parliamentary politician had a page. I'll try and be more conscientious in the future :-) Cheers Ballofstring (talk) 23:30, 14 February 2015 (UTC)
Hello, Ballofstring. I wanted to let you know that I’m proposing an article that you started, Toby Manhire, for deletion because I don't think it meets our criteria for inclusion. If you don't want the article deleted:
- edit the page
- remove the text that looks like this:
{{proposed deletion/dated...}}
- save the page
Also, be sure to explain why you think the article should be kept in your edit summary or on the article's talk page. If you don't do so, it may be deleted later anyway.
You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Smirkybec (talk) 09:05, 17 February 2015 (UTC)
- Hi @Smirkybec: you're probably right about the notability of that article. I've tried to find sources but came up with a whole lot of things written by him but not about him. Could moving it back to a draft be a compromise? Cheers Ballofstring (talk) 22:49, 17 February 2015 (UTC)
- If I may chip in - moving to draft would work if you think that you will find other sources (offline, I presume) at some stage. I think articles can be kept in the draft area for up to half a year. I guess what that means is that if Manhire just isn't notable, then it's not a solutions either. Schwede66 00:33, 18 February 2015 (UTC)
Uber regulation summary: help needed
Hi Ballofstring, I'm reaching out to each of the editors who commented on the "Request for Comment" at Talk:Uber (company) re: the Uber article's section on regulation and legal issues. As you might remember, editors were overwhelmingly in favor of splitting off that information into a new article, then summarizing in the Uber article. While the first part happened, there has been no movement on the summarizing and Regulatory opposition continues to grow and grow. To help kickstart that process, I've put forward a draft for everyone to take a look at that aims to cover the key details in a summary form: Summarizing Regulatory opposition
My conflict of interest means that it's best for me not to be bold and move this into the article myself, but I hope that it can at least be a starting point for other editors to work from. Would you mind coming back to the page to have a look? Craig at Uber (talk) 19:49, 14 May 2015 (UTC)

Good work on Public Trust Building. Have you considered taking it to WP:DYK? Stuartyeates (talk) 22:02, 1 June 2015 (UTC) |
- Yes, good work. If you do nominate it for DYK, note that it's currently not long enough; they require 1500 bytes of prose (and that excludes quotations). Schwede66 09:54, 2 June 2015 (UTC)
- Thank you both! I've always thought it was a very beautiful building and was surprised it didn't have a wiki page already! I'll do a bit more expanding and then have a think about DYK. Cheers! Ballofstring (talk) 09:31, 6 June 2015 (UTC)
- It is a stunning building all right! But to avoid potential DYK disappointment, articles have to be nominated within seven days of having been created. That's today or tomorrow, so don't think about it for too long. Schwede66 18:25, 6 June 2015 (UTC)

Hi there. I'm organising an edit-a-thon at Te Papa on Sunday May 29th, focussed on adding NZ flora and fauna species to Wikipedia. New Challenge for Oceania and Australia
Hi, Wikipedia:WikiProject Oceania/The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:WikiProject Australia/The 5000 Challenge are up and running based on Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge which has currently produced over 2300 article improvements and creations. The Australia challenge would feed into the wider region one and potentially New Zealand could have a smaller challenge too. The main goal is content improvement, tackling stale old stubs and important content and improving sourcing/making more consistent but new articles are also welcome if sourced. I understand that this is a big goal for regular editors, especially being summertime where you are, but if you'd like to see large scale quality improvements happening for Oceania and Australia like The Africa Destubathon, which has produced over 1700 articles in 5 weeks, sign up on the page. The idea will be an ongoing national editathon/challenge for the region but fuelled by a series of contests to really get articles on every province and subject mass improved. The Africa contest scaled worldwide would naturally provide great benefits to Oceania countries, particularly Australia and attract new editors. I would like some support from existing editors here to get the Challenges off to a start with some articles to make doing a Destubathon worthwhile and potentially bring about hundreds of improvements in a few weeks through a contest! Cheers.♦ --MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 02:12, 24 November 2016 (UTC)

Thank you for all your help working with new users during the Women in Science workshop – it made a big difference to the day, and several participants commented on how great it was to have experienced editors to help them. Giantflightlessbirds (talk) 10:46, 9 August 2017 (UTC) |

ArbCom 2017 election voter message
Hello, Ballofstring. Voting in the 2017 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23.59 on Sunday, 10 December. All users who registered an account before Saturday, 28 October 2017, made at least 150 mainspace edits before Wednesday, 1 November 2017 and are not currently blocked are eligible to vote. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
If you wish to participate in the 2017 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 18:42, 3 December 2017 (UTC)
Disambiguation link notification for July 2
Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Rocket Lab, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Peter Beck (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)
It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 10:19, 2 July 2018 (UTC)

Ways to improve Elizabeth McLeay
Thanks for creating Elizabeth McLeay.
A New Page Patroller Ajpolino just tagged the page as having some issues to fix, and wrote this note for you:
Thanks for your contribution! It's not clear to me from the article whether the topic meets WP:NPROF (or maybe WP:NBIO is more appropriate here?). So if there are other sources/material out there that you could add to make it clear that she passes those guidelines, that might save you and other editors some time down the road. Happy editing!
The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, you can reply over here and ping me. Or, for broader editing help, you can talk to the volunteers at the Teahouse.
Delivered via the Page Curation tool, on behalf of the reviewer.
