Hi Barnacles14! I noticed that you recently marked an edit as minor that may not have been. "Minor edit" has a very specific definition on Wikipedia – it refers only to superficial edits that could never be the subject of a dispute, such as typo corrections or reverting obvious vandalism. Any edit that changes the meaning of an article is not a minor edit, even if it only concerns a single word. Please see Help:Minor edit for more information. Important Notice

edit

This is a standard message to notify contributors about an administrative ruling in effect. It does not imply that there are any issues with your contributions to date.

You have shown interest in post-1992 politics of the United States and closely related people. Due to past disruption in this topic area, a more stringent set of rules called discretionary sanctions is in effect. Any administrator may impose sanctions on editors who do not strictly follow Wikipedia's policies, or the page-specific restrictions, when making edits related to the topic.

For additional information, please see the guidance on discretionary sanctions and the Arbitration Committee's decision here. If you have any questions, or any doubts regarding what edits are appropriate, you are welcome to discuss them with me or any other editor.

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that you've added some links pointing to disambiguation pages. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Hello, I'm Gab4gab. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, Forsyth County Schools, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so. You can have a look at referencing for beginners. If you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. In addition your infobox changes conflicted with article body content. Gab4gab (talk) 14:05, 5 September 2021 (UTC)Reply

Forsyth County, Georgia shows more schools. Barnacles14 (talk) 17:50, 5 September 2021 (UTC)Reply

Wikipedia is not a reliable source. Being an encyclopedia, Wikipedia summarizes what other published sources have written about a subject. Gab4gab (talk) 21:19, 5 September 2021 (UTC)Reply

Theres literal pages for the high schools. Also i live there so i know they exist. Barnacles14 (talk) 17:14, 6 September 2021 (UTC

When you cite published reliable sources then the readers of Wikipedia can verify the information. Verifiability is an important policy of Wikipedia. Editors who ignore it repeatedly can find themselves blocked for disruptive editing. If you need help adding citations I'd be glad to assist you. Gab4gab (talk) 18:27, 6 September 2021 (UTC)Reply

Recent edit reversion

edit

In this edit here, I reverted some information that appears to be a violation of our copyright policy.

I provided a brief summary of the problem in the edit summary, which should be visible just below my name. You can also click on the "view history" tab in the article to see the recent history of the article. This should be an edit with my name, and a parenthetical comment explaining why your edit was reverted. If that information is not sufficient to explain the situation, please ask.

I do occasionally make mistakes. We get hundreds of reports of potential copyright violations every week, and sometimes there are false positives, for a variety of reasons. (Perhaps the material was moved from another Wikipedia article, or the material was properly licensed but the license information was not obvious, or the material is in the public domain but I didn't realize it was public domain, and there can be other situations generating a report to our Copy Patrol tool that turn out not to be actual copyright violations.) If you think my edit was mistaken, please politely let me know and I will investigate. S Philbrick(Talk) 18:41, 21 May 2022 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Civil Law Convention on Corruption

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Civil Law Convention on Corruption requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from https://www.coe.int/en/web/conventions/full-list?module=treaty-detail&treatynum=174. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Inappropriate edit, please undo

https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Submarine_(The_Mar%C3%ADas_album)&diff=0&oldid=1229801161 Per MOS:RETAIN, MOS:VAR, and WP:ALBUMSTYLE, please do not add {{track listing}} to this article. Please undo your edit. ―Justin (koavf)TCM 06:32, 12 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

So are you refusing to do this? If so, I will have to escalate this issue. ―Justin (koavf)TCM 07:42, 18 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
how is this inappropriate in anyway? Barnacles14 (talk) 11:46, 18 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
Per MOS:RETAIN, MOS:VAR, and WP:ALBUMSTYLE: "When either of two styles is acceptable it is inappropriate for a Wikipedia editor to change from one style to another unless there is some substantial reason for the change." It is not appropriate for you to unilaterally change this style. Please undo your edit. ―Justin (koavf)TCM 12:45, 18 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
there is nothing wrong if every other discography page has it like that Barnacles14 (talk) 12:48, 18 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
"Every other discography page"? What are you talking about? This isn't a discography article and there are no other articles about albums by this band. I'm asking you one last time to undo the addition of {{track listing}} per the guidance at WP:ALBUMSTYLE and the explicit instructions that "When either of two styles is acceptable it is inappropriate for a Wikipedia editor to change from one style to another unless there is some substantial reason for the change." If you won't abide by this, I will escalate this issue. ―Justin (koavf)TCM 12:51, 18 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
i meant album and my reason is it looks more professional. Barnacles14 (talk) 12:53, 18 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
"When either of two styles is acceptable it is inappropriate for a Wikipedia editor to change from one style to another unless there is some substantial reason for the change." Are you refusing to abide by the Manual of Style? ―Justin (koavf)TCM 12:54, 18 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
i explicitly mentioned my reason Barnacles14 (talk) 12:55, 18 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
Are you refusing to abide by the Manual of Style and revert yourself? ―Justin (koavf)TCM 12:56, 18 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
i said i gave a reason so it wouldn’t be refusing to abide by the rules Barnacles14 (talk) 12:57, 18 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
Everyone has a reason for everything. That does not make it a valid reason. "When either of two styles is acceptable it is inappropriate for a Wikipedia editor to change from one style to another unless there is some substantial reason for the change." You know that it is inappropriate for you to arbitrarily change this style and you are refusing to abide, so I will escalate this matter. I'm sorry that you've chosen this. ―Justin (koavf)TCM 12:58, 18 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
bru im gonna revert it chill Barnacles14 (talk) 12:59, 18 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
I'm escalating. Expect a ping. ―Justin (koavf)TCM 13:00, 18 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
I misread that. If you revert, I will undo my request. ―Justin (koavf)TCM 13:04, 18 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
reverted Barnacles14 (talk) 13:06, 18 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
Thank you for that. Have a nice day. ―Justin (koavf)TCM 13:08, 18 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

Emory University

Hi! Emory was annexed by Atlanta in 2018. The amnexation was covered by Atlanta area media. WhisperToMe (talk) 04:11, 8 September 2024 (UTC)Reply

oh ok damn atlanta really tryna get the credit Barnacles14 (talk) 04:21, 8 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
Not only that, but the university specifically requested the annexation. They wanted in. However... the annexation needed to be contiguous, so the university bought a single house just next to the Atlanta city limits and just next to the university so it could be done. ah damn thanks for the heads up though Barnacles14 (talk) 11:38, 8 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
