Zamalek

edit

Hello, i have reverted your edits to the Zamalek article as they were unsourced and quite suspect. It is impossible to charecterise the whole population of Suez as Zamalek supporters. And without some sort of census, giving figures for supporters in places like Alexandria is only speculation and original research. I suggest you read some of the links at the top of this page that i have just added. When editing the Zamalek article please add reliable, verfifiable sources otherwise the additions will be removed. Any questions can be left on my talk page. Thanks. Woodym555 19:39, 11 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Yes, but saying that you want to Suez and couldn't find anyone who didn't support Zamalek breaches our original research policy.(click on the blue link to read the policy). We need a reliable source before it can be readded to the article. With regards to the images, we cannot just add them all as it makes the page distorted. Where did you get those images by the way. Taking screenshots from television shows and adding them as your ownwork is a copyright violation. Thanks. Woodym555 11:21, 12 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Images

edit

I have listed all but 2 of the images that you have uploaded to this date as having questionable sources. The list can be seen in your log. I have serious doubts as to the sourcing of these images. It is obvious that several of these are screenshots, as is evident by the logos in the top left hand corner of the images (blacked out). If these are screenshots then they will have to be deleted. If you can upload images that you have created yourself, using your own photographic equipment, then wikipedia could accept them under the {{PD-self}} licence. Breaching Copyright is very serious and can lead to a block if copyright is persistently violated. Thanks. Woodym555 21:12, 12 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

edit

Image Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading Image:Zamalek15.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 06:35, 12 February 2008 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Mosmof (talk) 06:35, 12 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion of Template:Zamalek squad

edit

A tag has been placed on Template:Zamalek squad requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section T3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a deprecated or orphaned template. After seven days, if it is still unused and the speedy deletion tag has not been removed, the template will be deleted.

If the template is intended to be substituted, please feel free to remove the speedy deletion tag and please consider putting a note on the template's page indicating that it is substituted so as to avoid any future mistakes (<noinclude>{{transclusionless}}</noinclude>).

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Uwk logo.jpg)

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Uwk logo.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Please stop uploading

edit

You have uploaded massive numbers of images that do not meet our image use requirements. We do not accept images licensed to Wikipedia only, licensed for non-commercial use, or otherwise under restrictive licensing terms. In order for us to accept the image, the copyright holder needs to release it under the GFDL or a compatible license. Please see WP:COPYREQ for more information. --B (talk) 21:07, 4 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

I have deleted all of the images that you tagged with "by permission only". I have left in place the ones that you tagged with PD-self. Are you, in fact, the author and copyright holder of these images and is it your intention to release them into the public domain? --B (talk) 21:29, 4 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

All creative works (photographs, paintings, books, etc) are AUTOMATICALLY copyrighted regardless of whether or not they are published with a copyright statement. Even if it is something as informal as, for example, taking photos at a family gathering - they are automatically copyrighted. So unless you, personally, took a photograph, you cannot upload it unless the photographer or copyright holder releases it under the GFDL or a compatible license. For any photograph that can be found on another website, we require a statement of permission to be on file. WP:COPYREQ#Declaration_of_consent_for_all_enquiries has a sample statement of permission that you can use to document authorship and the copyright release. All submissions to permissions-en are confidential. Beyond the copyright issue, there are also a few other important guidelines like WP:COI, WP:N, and WP:RS that you should read. Wikipedia is not free webhosting and in order for there to be an article on a topic, its significance needs to be documented by external sources. Has the media reported on your group? If not, Wikipedia is not an appropriate place for an article about it. Wikipedia articles must use reliable sources, not be composed of your own original research on a subject. I strongly suggest reading some of these policies and guidelines because as it stands, the article needs to be sourced better and it needs to be demonstrated that your organization is notable. --B (talk) 01:33, 5 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

For any photo that you want to use here, you need to:
  1. Find out who the copyright holder is. Normally, that is the person who took the photo, but if it was a "work for hire" (meaning, someone was paid to take it) then it is their employer.
  2. Contact that person and ask them if they would be willing to permit us to use the image under the terms of the GFDL. They don't have to actually do anything other than say yes - there is no work involved on their part. The GFDL is a licensing agreement that specifies, among other things, that we have to give them credit for their work and if we make any modifications to it, we have to license those contributions under the GFDL as well. It is called a viral license.
  3. Ask the copyright holder to submit the declaration of consent to permissions-commons AT wikimedia DOT org. When this is done, their permission will be on file with the Wikimedia Foundation.
I hope this helps. --B (talk) 13:12, 5 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for uploading File:Tanta 3.jpg.

Unreferenced BLPs

edit

Hello Basedas2! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 1 of the articles that you created is tagged as an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. Please note that all biographies of living persons must be sourced. If you were to add reliable, secondary sources to this article, it would greatly help us with the current 289 article backlog. Once the article is adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the article:

  1. Wael Zenga - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL

Thanks!--DASHBot (talk) 21:23, 2 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of Wael Zenga

edit

The article Wael Zenga has been proposed for deletion because under Wikipedia policy, all biographies of living persons created after March 18, 2010, must have at least one source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't take offense. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Wikipedia:Referencing for beginners or ask at Wikipedia:Help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within ten days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one.
