Speedy deletion nomination of BookMyForex

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on BookMyForex, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Speedy deletion nomination of BookMyForex

edit

Hello Bashir M,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged BookMyForex for deletion, because it seems to be promotional, rather than an encyclopedia article.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. XyzSpaniel'Talk to me 11:05, 12 October 2016 (UTC)Reply

  Hello, I'm Deb. I wanted to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions have been undone because they appeared to be promotional. Advertising and using Wikipedia as a "soapbox" are against Wikipedia policy and not permitted. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about Wikipedia. Thank you.Deb (talk) 11:49, 20 October 2016 (UTC)Reply

  Hello Bashir M, and welcome to Wikipedia. All or some of your addition(s) to BookMyForex has had to be removed, as it appears to have added copyrighted material without evidence of permission from the copyright holder. While we appreciate your contributing to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from your sources to avoid copyright or plagiarism issues here.

  • You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
  • Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. (There is a college-level introduction to paraphrase, with examples, hosted by the Online Writing Lab of Purdue.) Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
  • Our primary policy on using copyrighted content is Wikipedia:Copyrights. You may also want to review Wikipedia:Copy-paste.
  • If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. However, there are steps that must be taken to verify that license before you do. See Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
  • In very rare cases (that is, for sources that are public domain or compatibly licensed), it may be possible to include greater portions of a source text. However, please seek help at the help desk before adding such content to the article. 99.9% of sources may not be added in this way, so it is necessary to seek confirmation first. If you do confirm that a source is public domain or compatibly licensed, you will still need to provide full attribution; see Wikipedia:Plagiarism for the steps you need to follow.
  • Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you can, but please follow the steps in Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia.

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. — Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 12:49, 1 November 2016 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for uploading File:Bookmyforexlogo.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --B-bot (talk) 18:30, 8 November 2016 (UTC)Reply

BookMyForex

I have looked at the deletion log. I agree that the version of the article you created immediately prior to the latest deletion was less promotional than the version that existed prior to the previous deletion. I see no evidence of anyone except yourself and some anonymous IPs having contributed to that latest version, so I cannot judge whether the person who was working with you was a suitable person to advise you. Individual wikipedians will have different views on this. However, if I am going to help you recreate the article, I would like your assurance that you do not have a conflict of interest, i.e. that you are not employed by this company or any associate company or rival company and that you don't have close contact with any of their employees. Can you give me that assurance? Deb (talk) 12:53, 17 November 2016 (UTC)Reply

Hi Deb, Thank you for the reply. I assure you that I am not involved with any company whether it is BookMyForex or their Rivals. Neither have any relationships with any of their employees. If you ever find out that I wasn't being honest here and didn't follow the conflict of interest guidelines, you can take necessary action. I think it was Dianaa and XYZSpaniel who did some edits and guided me on this article. Bashir M (talk) 06:22, 18 November 2016 (UTC)Reply

Okay, what I'll do is to put the latest version of the article into your sandbox so that you can do a bit more work on it. Deb (talk) 10:57, 18 November 2016 (UTC)Reply

Managing a conflict of interest

edit

  Hello, Bashir M. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places, or things you have written about in the article BookMyForex, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic, and it is important when editing Wikipedia articles that such connections be completely transparent. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. In particular, we ask that you please:

  • avoid editing or creating articles related to you and your family, friends, school, company, club, or organization, as well as any competing companies' projects or products;
  • instead, you are encouraged to propose changes on the Talk pages of affected article(s) (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • when discussing affected articles, disclose your COI (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or to the website of your organization in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • exercise great caution so that you do not violate Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Please take a few moments to read and review Wikipedia's policies regarding conflicts of interest, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, sourcing and autobiographies.

Also please note that editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. Catfish Jim and the soapdish 16:33, 8 November 2017 (UTC)Reply

As per your comment at User talk:RickinBaltimore: Rest If you still think it is a COI, I can't say much but like I mentioned to mods last year that if ever there was found a COI, please delete and ban me from contributing on Wikipedia, I see that you are employed by BookMyForex. Catfish Jim and the soapdish 16:37, 8 November 2017 (UTC)Reply
