How to proceed: Cardano extended confirmed

Hi Bearcat,

I was wanting to potentially file an appeal on the admin page but I saw that in order to "avoid the drama" I could perhaps contact an admin directly.

The topic regards: the recent increase in permission level of Cardano (cryptocurrency platform). I have contacted the admin responsible directly as can be seen on EdJohnston's talk page.

The conversation can be seen there but comes down to: Ed blocking page due to the removal of a single "unreliable source" tag & text deletion by users with over 500+ edits. (I described in comments my reasoning and a full explanation can be seen on his page)

It was suggested I file a complaint for a reduction in protection level at WP:RFUP, which I did (conversation can be seen there currently titled "Cardano (cryptocurrency platform)").

I was subsequently recommended to post on the admin page for an appeal. Long story short: Due to the page being recently released 1-2 weeks and the topic being niche new editors who are knowledgeable on the topic but have little wiki experience or 500+ edits are unable to improve the page. Was wondering how to proceed/ if you concur with this ruling? Not entirely sure why there are pitchnut hyperlinks below xD Blockchainus Maximus (talk) 16:35, 30 October 2020 (UTC)

(talk page stalker) you can go through the normal process of requesting changes on the talk page. It was explained in your request that this is subject to ds/gs so it won't be unprotected. Praxidicae (talk) 16:40, 30 October 2020 (UTC)
I am not suggesting the page be completely unprotected but reduced in protection to its original status of "semi protection" as it has only been available for edits recently (last 1-2 weeks) - the current level is prohibitive for anybody with little wiki edits but has knowledge on the topic since it is so niche. Saskatchewan Election

Hi,

Thank you for going through and changing the end-dates for the defeated/retiring MLAs in Saskatchewan to their proper term end date (at the writ drop). For many years, it seemed that American-style dates of service were used, where the incumbent remained in office until the successor is elected.

It seems that candidates from previous Saskatchewan elections still have this problem. I have been meaning to do this for some time. If you have some spare time, could you help me with getting those changed over? I know at least the past three elections have this issue. Before that some of the MLAs of that day don't have infoboxes, so marginal benefit becomes less and less.

And also at least the past two elections in Alberta need fixed. Oh boy....

Have a nice day.

Speedy deletion nomination of Roman Baber

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Roman Baber requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from https://romanbabermpp.ca/about/. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Spartree edits

Hi Bearcat,

Sorry, ,I did not understand that linking to an external source for additional information was not done. I'm not sure wshy you removed the other edits that I had added: ie the quoted text from the Victoria Film Festival describing the story, and the fact that an excerpt of Spartree was released as "Coffee Break".

Clearly I've not done much editing, and need to see how this should be done.

Thanks M — Preceding unsigned comment added by Alaskamike907 (talkcontribs) 00:15, 13 November 2020 (UTC)

Ngardy Conteh George

I'd disagree that journalism and books are the only real building blocks for articles -- there are other reliable sources. While Ngardy Conteh George does use a possibly self-written source to verify biographical info, I thought there was enough sourcing that no tag for primary sources was necessary. I don't feel strong enough that I will edit war over it however. Interestingly enough, shortly after I wrote the page an employee of hers created an account and began adding info, though not stuff that would be useful from primary sources like a date of birth. ~EDDY (talk/contribs)~ 23:54, 13 November 2020 (UTC)

Sandra Masters

Hi Bearcat, I have something to tell you recently, the city of Regina, Saskatchewan have elected the first female mayor of Regina, Saskatchewan her name is Sandra Masters. For a request could create the article about Sandra Masters who is recently the newly-elected mayor of Regina, Saskatchewan and the first female mayor of Regina, Saskatchewan. I hope you make a decision to create a new article about Sandra Masters. I thank you and have a great day and please stay healthy. Bye. 2001:569:74D2:A800:694F:45D4:9545:1988 (talk) 04:44, 14 November 2020 (UTC)

I'm sure somebody will, but I don't start articles about mayors in cities where I don't have intimate personal familiarity with the municipal politics: the standards that a mayoral article has to surpass are a lot higher now than they were a decade ago — there has to be a lot more substance to the article than just saying that a mayor exists — so I don't touch mayors of cities I don't know enough about to put in the amount of work that's actually required. Niall Dunne's Wikipedia page - new section

Hi Bearcat,

My name is Sophie and I am very new to being a Wikipedia user editing and writing articles. I am contacting you because I saw that you had made changes to Niall Dunne's Wikipedia page a couple years ago. I was hoping I could get your help to create a new section on his page. As I am currently working at Polymateria, the company at which Niall is CEO I am unable to update his page due to WP:COI guidelines but am wondering whether you might be happy to help me add a section to his page?

If you are happy to help me I can send you the text that I would like to update the page with.

Again, as said I am very new to this side of Wikipedia so please do let me know if there is another way I should be trying to make these changes.

Thank you and hope to speak soon, Sophie SophieStromback (talk) 17:21, 20 November 2020 (UTC)

Thanks for voting for deletion of the Mavis road article...Not!

This article was up for 15-odd years and was well detailed and described a road corridor with an interesting history. Why would a presumed "roadgeek" feel the need to delete it if only for the reason they'd think it interesting? Transportfan70 (talk) 17:53, 23 November 2020 (UTC)

The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

Proposed deletion of Wyoming Community Foundation

The article Wyoming Community Foundation has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Small, non-notable charity, not even notable in the small state of Wyoming.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Request for block

Greetings, I undid this user's vandalism on List of Japanese supercentenarians. I am sure this is a troll. He vandalized the article claiming Kane Tanaka died 12 February 2020. I was wondering if you could maybe warn this user not to do that again?

Have a great evening. Timothy McGuire (talk) 03:22, 29 November 2020 (UTC)

Newspapers.com

Hi Bearcat, I saw you mention on the AfD discussion for It Seemed Like a Good Idea at the Time that you don't have access to Newspapers.com. Do you know that you can get access for free through the Wikipedia Library Card? They can set you up with a free subscription. — Toughpigs (talk) 16:59, 3 December 2020 (UTC)

Vic Fedeli

Hi. I know you're busy, but if you have a moment, I was wondering if you could offer any help on this page. Editors remove POV commentary and campaign-literature type wording and they're re-added/reverted by a particular user. It has happened several times over the last 6 months, including an edit you made in June. Thanks. Blotto adrift (talk) 15:12, 11 December 2020 (UTC)

Much appreciated! Blotto adrift (talk) 18:49, 11 December 2020 (UTC)

Hey, just as a heads up, it looks like you added the wrong IMDb link to How to Be At Home. I searched for the correct link but could not find it, so I just removed the link. If you can find it, could you please repair and replace? Thanks! BOVINEBOY2008 12:02, 13 December 2020 (UTC)
