STATEMENT

edit

Any articles submitted by me were done so on good faith on the understanding that Wikipedia was a reputable resource. I do not agree with many of the backward policies on this site or with the insularity of its administrators. I request articles such as Howards' Way, Prisoner and the Secret Army episode guide be rewritten so my original text is no longer featured on the site. I do not endorse the reliability of Wikipedia in any way, and would not recommend it (either for reference or contributions) to anyone in the future. Ben King 12:50, 22 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

STATEMENT 2

Administrator The JPS is an insular, officious little drone who is obviously on a power trip. An utterly sad, small-minded piece of shit.

I don't blame you for leaving

edit

Of course I don't know your reasons for leaving the Wikipedia community, but if they have anything to do with the dispute over fair use regarding magazine covers, I don't blame you. You may or may not have noticed that all your TV Guide images have been removed. Sorry, man -- I do NOT support the current fair use policy regarding magazines and I feel it is unnecessarily restrictive (you should see the damage being done to articles on magazine models). That barnstar you received was well deserved as I personally feel Wikipedia is a poorer place because of the loss of these images. 23skidoo 11:47, 12 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

    • Thanks for your note of support.
I would second that. They were helpful and illustrative, and it seems over-zealous that they were removed, and in a rather abrupt manner too. Certainly the articles I am involved in look much poorer now. It seems a shame that the users so bothered about removing the magazine covers couldn't find images to replace them with first. Bob 20:44, 17 May 2006 (UTC)Reply
    • Thanks again. You're quite right - there are some very sad individuals on Wikipedia whose administrative "status" has clearly gone to their heads.
I would certainly agree that it's a shame you decided to leave Wikipedia - I saw many of your contributions and they were great - particularly with regard to articles such as Secret Army and Survivors. The current policy about magazine covers I have no hard opinion about, but the lack of (use of) such covers is surely only a minor thing and the information that Wikipedia contains (including the content you have added) is surely vastly more valuable. I'd like to thank you for that content, and hope that you don't continue to try removing it. Stephenb (Talk) 09:00, 22 May 2006 (UTC)Reply
Administrative "status" is seriously the best way of putting it. I imagine these users are on a power trip with their admin "status" and don't realize they're deleting valuable things and chasing away great users like you. You are worth a million Carnildos and a thousand Mindspillages.
    • Please rewrite the Secret Army episode guides. I do not wish to have my original text featured on Wikipedia. Thank you.
Unfortunately, I disagree with you here. When you press "Save page," you make the text property of WP. juppiter talk #c 18:25, 12 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Break in the Sun

edit

A "{{prod}}" template has been added to the article Break in the Sun, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but yours may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice explains why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may contest the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. 172.144.53.226 00:49, 3 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/The Last Enemy and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 08:59, 7 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned non-free media (Image:GerardMaguire.jpg)

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:GerardMaguire.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 12:11, 25 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Susan Gilmore

edit

A tag has been placed on Susan Gilmore requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. magnius (talk) 14:42, 18 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

Unreferenced BLPs

Hello Ben King! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 32 of the articles that you created are tagged as Unreferenced Biographies of Living Persons. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. If you were to bring these articles up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 174 article backlog. Once the articles are adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the list:

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Dynasty 1.jpg

edit

Thank you for uploading File:Dynasty 1.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. Kostelca (talk) 02:39, 8 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

edit

The article Norman Eshley has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

A search for references failed to find significant coverage in reliable sources to comply with notability requirements. This included web searches for news coverage, books, and journals, which can be seen from the following links:
Norman Eshleynews, books, scholar
Consequently, this article is about a British actor that appears to lack sufficient notability.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Speedy deletion nomination of Robert Vahey

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Robert Vahey requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, you can place a request here. Jinkinson talk to me 01:29, 14 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of File:Pcbhbook.jpg

edit

The file File:Pcbhbook.jpg has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Non-free cover art is generally allowed to be uploaded and used per item 1 of WP:NFCI, but only really when the cover art itself is being used for primary identification purposes in a stand-alone article about the work in question; so, this would probably be fine if used at the top of or in the main infobox of a stand-alone article about the book in question. Using non-free cover art in other articles, however, requires a much stronger justification for non-free use as explained in WP:NFC#cite_note-3. There is really no sourced critical commentary of this book cover anywhere in Prisoner (TV series)#Books and none of the article content about the book requires that the reader see its cover to be understood; so, the context required for non-free use by WP:NFCC#8 is lacking. Simply wanting to show the cover art is WP:DECORATIVE, and there needs to be a much stronger tie in to the article content so that omitting the cover would be detrimental to the reader's understanding.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

Proposed deletion of File:PCBHJoan.jpg

edit

The file File:PCBHJoan.jpg has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Non-free screenshots can be uploaded per item 5 of WP:NFCI, but it's generally only considered acceptable to do so when the screenshot itself is the subject of sourced critical commentary within the article where it's being used so that the context for non-free use required by WP:NFCC#8 is clearly provided. Non-free screenshots are not really intended to help illustrate plot points or particular scenes absent of such sourced commentary in plot sections per MOS:TVIMAGE because such use tends to be more decorative than contextual. I don't see how this screenshot's use in the Prisoner (TV series)#Final season satisfies NFCC#8, which means it should be deleted.

Speedy deletion nomination of Shirin Taylor

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Shirin Taylor requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a real person or group of people that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator.
