Welcome!
Hello, Benchallis, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:
- The five pillars of Wikipedia
- How to edit a page
- Help pages
- Tutorial
- How to write a great article
- Manual of Style
I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Where to ask a question, ask me on my talk page, or place {{helpme}}
on your talk page and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Again, welcome!
I also just noticed your contribution to sampling (music), I noticed that you added some information from the site: http://www.musicjournal.org/03thesongremainsthesame.html, which I initially thought could be a copyright violation (ironic, given the subject matter!) But then I notice you are apparently the author of the article in question, so I would just like to clarify that you are the author in question and your are releasing the text that you contributed under the GFDL? I (or you) can then happily reinstate the text. Thanks. --Lexor|Talk 15:37, 16 Sep 2004 (UTC)
An offer of help
editHi Ben, and welcome to Wikipedia. Instead of giving you the usual welcome note (as someone else has done above), I thought I'd offer to help you out. I recently had to delete A Greener Festival because it came accross as an advert and didn't meet our requirements for inclusion. Before I deleted it though, I copied it to your userspace. You can find it under User:Benchallis/A Greener Festival, where you can work on the article without it being deleted. What I'd suggest is reworking the article to make it less commercial and more encyclopedic. If you can, try and work in some references from newspapers, magazines or other reliable sources in order to demonstrate that what the article is about will meet our requirements for verifiability and notability. You might find that the tutorial here helps as well. Finally, if you have any questions please feel free to ask me a question on my talk page and I'll do my best to help out. Best of luck! This is an automated message from VWBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of The Ignerents, and it appears to include material copied directly from http://www.boredteenagers.co.uk/ignerents.htm.
It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. The article will be reviewed to determine if there are any copyright issues.
If substantial content is duplicated and it is not public domain or available under a compatible license, it will be deleted. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material. You may use such publications as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. See our copyright policy for further details. (If you own the copyright to the previously published content and wish to donate it, see Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials for the procedure.) VWBot (talk) 16:16, 13 August 2012 (UTC)
Speedy deletion nomination of The Ignerents
editA tag has been placed on The Ignerents requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article or image appears to be a clear copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.
If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website or image but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.
If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Thebestofall007 (talk) 16:21, 13 August 2012 (UTC)
- I have declined the speedy deletion of the article, but I'm afraid we still need you to follow the procedure outlined at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials in order for us to verify that you have permission to release the content under a free license. your Bot incorrectly indentified the original source of the material which I wrote. the original source is here http://www.theignerents.blogspot.co.uk/ : whilst I do know the person who runs the 'bored teenagers' website, which of course is why he has the text in question, I will now modify the Ignerents pages here http://www.theignerents.blogspot.co.uk/2009/12/ignerents-brief-history-in-time.html as well as the band's discography here http://www.theignerents.blogspot.co.uk/2009/12/ignerents-discography.html
OK - those two pages are now under Creative Commons licences using the wording from your good selves - although I can't say I am that much of a fan of Creative Commons !
