Any further attempt to interpret scholarly works based on the authors caste will result in an indefinitel block. FYI. --RegentsPark (comment) 21:10, 26 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

BengHistory (talk) 22:18, 26 July 2021 (UTC) Dear Editor, not sure if the notice was meant for me. I have not tried to discredit any scholarly work based on the author's caste. I was editing the page on a caste community Baidya. There some fellow-editors were not accepting any of the source I was giving if the source happened be authored by any individual belonging to that very caste (viz. Baidya). I was just pointing to this very point as mentioned in that notice, i.e., you simply cannot put an 'unreliable' tag on any author just because he belonged to a particular caste (which they have been doing repetitively, as you can see in that page, in the talk section). I told them that according to the same logic, authors belonging to other castes can also be doubted to be holding some grudge. The matter of fact is, I think that source, if reliable, should be incorporated irrespective of the author's caste. But they are not allowing it and summarily rejecting any Baidya author's work as being motivated. They even went to that extent as to call certain editors 'caste warriors' and 'POV-pusher'. You can check it yourself. I request you to see it to it that the page is handled neutrally and no editor is given a free hand (by virtue of simply having more edits to his/her name) and be allowed to express his own opinion (even to the extent of using exclamatory marks, as you can see), and to reject sources based on the caste of an author. ThanksReply

Notice of discretionary sanctions on caste articles

edit
The Wikipedia community has permitted administrators to impose discretionary sanctions on any editor who is active on any page about social groups, explicitly including caste associations and political parties, related to India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Nepal. Discretionary sanctions can be used against an editor who repeatedly or seriously fails to adhere to the purpose of Wikipedia, any expected standards of behavior, or any normal editorial process. If you engage in inappropriate behavior in this area, you may be placed under sanctions, which can include blocks, a revert limitation, or a topic ban. The discussion leading to the imposition of these sanctions can be read here.

Please familiarise yourself with the information page at Wikipedia:General sanctions/South Asian social groups.

Hello, I'm Ekdalian. You have been adding or changing content in an article, Vaid, but you didn't provide reliable sources properly, and did not even bother to provide complete citation; providing url only is not accepted here, read WP:CITE. Do not engage in original research or synthesis. Please refrain from making unconstructive edits to Wikipedia. Thanks. Ekdalian (talk) 13:38, 28 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

[(talk) 16:00, 29 July 2021 (UTC) 1) I am entitled to add contents in wikipedia, that is called editing. Do I need seek your permission from you before each of my edits? Do you own all of these articles? 2) I have given urls in each of the sources, will add more details within few days. 3) Specify the lines which you deem as original research or synthesis. I have quoted 4-5 lines, and all of them have been quoted verbatim. 4) I do not think you are entitled to term anything as 'unconstructive', please refrain from making such opinionated remarks and realize that your apparent high-position in wikipedia does not entitle you to pass such judgements. The guideline says, Generally, you should not break up another editor's text by interleaving your own replies to individual points. This confuses who said what and obscures the original editor's intent. In your own posts, you may wish to use the {{Talk quotation}} or {{Talkquote}} templates to quote others' posts. Thanks. Notice that you are now subject to a sanction

edit

The following sanction has been imposed on you:

You have been indefinitely topic banned from making any edits or comments related to castes or social groups, broadly construed. Please read WP:TBAN to see what "topic banned" means.

You have been sanctioned for the problems reported at WP:AE permalink.

This sanction is imposed in my capacity as an uninvolved administrator as authorised by the community's decision at Wikipedia:General sanctions/South Asian social groups, and the procedure described by the general sanctions guidelines. This sanction has been recorded in the log of sanctions for that topic. If the sanction includes a ban, please read the banning policy to ensure you understand what this means. If you do not comply with this sanction, you may be blocked for an extended period, by way of enforcement of this sanction—and you may also be made subject to further sanctions.

You may appeal this sanction at the administrators' noticeboard. You may also appeal directly to me (on my talk page), before or instead of appealing to the noticeboard. Even if you appeal this sanction, you remain bound by it until you are notified by an uninvolved administrator that the appeal has been successful. You are also free to contact me on my talk page if anything of the above is unclear to you. Johnuniq (talk) 10:53, 9 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
