Wikipedia and copyright
editHello Biscodyl, and welcome to Wikipedia. Your additions to NEM (cryptocurrency) have been removed in whole or in part, as they appear to have added copyrighted content without evidence that the source material is in the public domain or has been released by its owner or legal agent under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. (To request such a release, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission.) While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from sources to avoid copyright and plagiarism issues.
- You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
- Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. (There is a college-level introduction to paraphrase, with examples, hosted by the Online Writing Lab of Purdue.) Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify the information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
- Our primary policy on using copyrighted content is Wikipedia:Copyrights. You may also want to review Wikipedia:Copy-paste.
- If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a legally designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. Understand, though, that unlike many other sites, where a person can license their content for use there and retain non-free ownership, that is not possible at Wikipedia. Rather, the release of content must be irrevocable, to the world, into the public domain (PD) or under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. Such a release must be done in a verifiable manner, so that the authority of the person purporting to release the copyright is evidenced. See Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
- In very rare cases (that is, for sources that are PD or compatibly licensed) it may be possible to include greater portions of a source text. However, please seek help at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions, the help desk or the Teahouse before adding such content to the article. 99.9% of sources may not be added in this way, so it is necessary to seek confirmation first. If you do confirm that a source is public domain or compatibly licensed, you will still need to provide full attribution; see Wikipedia:Plagiarism for the steps you need to follow.
- Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you must follow the copyright attribution steps in Wikipedia:Translation#How to translate. See also Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia.
It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. — Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 14:11, 21 June 2019 (UTC)

editYour addition to NEM (cryptocurrency) has been removed in whole or in part, as it appears to have added copyrighted material to Wikipedia without evidence of permission from the copyright holder. If you are the copyright holder, please read Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials for more information on uploading your material to Wikipedia. For legal reasons, Wikipedia cannot accept copyrighted material, including text or images from print publications or from other websites, without an appropriate and verifiable license. All such contributions will be deleted. You may use external websites or publications as a source of information, but not as a source of content, such as sentences or images—you must write using your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously and persistent violators of our copyright policy will be blocked from editing. See Wikipedia:Copying text from other sources for more information. Request reason:
in my last edit, i have edited as pointed out in the article. the remaining content left similar to copyright material was created later than the wikipedia article as mention in the revert reason. Biscodyl (talk) 15:25, 25 June 2019 (UTC)
Decline reason:
I agree that that specific edit looks okay, but I have some lingering issues in your specific version of NEM (cryptocurrency) that you are trying to push. There is a general lack of reliable sources and many of your other edits are just slight rewordings of source material that seem to use buzzwords and are promotional rather than conforming to a neutral point of view description of the issues. As an example, the part on EigenTrust++ seem to be directly from this news release. You haven't really addressed the rest of the problems in your editing behavior. If you wish to continue editing, you are going to have spend some time to review both our WP:COPYVIO policy along with the ones I have identified above and show that you understand why your edits to the NEM article and constant pushing were inappropriate. I would recommend you spend at least a day thinking about that before you create another unblock request with a relevant discussion of how your editing relates to Wikipedia policies. I would also review our guide to improving articles. Sasquatch t|c 18:44, 25 June 2019 (UTC)
If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.
- Additionally, please disclose here if you have any relation to NEM cryptocurrency. The fact that you have only edited that page in a specific way is a little suspicious. Sasquatch t|c 18:45, 25 June 2019 (UTC)

Thank you for the explanation.
Fyi, I'm not the one construct the article in specific structure/wording, I only add back content from other person previous edit and add/change references to it, which has been removed because no source reference (please confirm with previous revision). Regarding the copyright issue that may have encounter. The articles compared with, dated later than content in old revision in NEM wikipedia article (which is not added by me).
For example :
https://www.seminarsonly.com/coins/nem-price-market.php
https://www.newswire.ca/news-releases/netcents-technology-to-add-five-new-coins-to-merchant-gateway-691015731.html
with this version - https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=NEM_(cryptocurrency)&diff=827580611&oldid=827004800
I understand the notability issue and agree some part have promotional bias wording [it may have come from NEM documentation/promotional material], will try modify to be more neutral according to guideline.
Disclosure : I don't have official relation to NEM, but I own some XEM.
Thank you.

I'm not comfortable unblocking you without a firm understanding of what constitutes a reliable source in the cryptocurrency topic area. It is likely that you will need to agree to not edit about NEM in order to be unblocked. Please also read very carefully the following notice. MER-C 09:35, 29 June 2019 (UTC)

You are receiving this notice because you recently edited one or more pages relating to blockchain or cryptocurrencies topics. You have not done anything wrong. We just want to alert you that "general" sanctions are authorized for certain types of edits to those pages.
A community decision has authorized the use of general sanctions for pages related to blockchain and cryptocurrencies. The details of these sanctions are described here. All pages that are broadly related to these topics are subject to a one revert per twenty-four hours restriction, as described here.
General sanctions is a system of conduct regulation designed to minimise disruption in controversial topic areas. This means uninvolved administrators can impose sanctions for edits relating to these topics that do not adhere to the purpose of Wikipedia, our standards of behaviour, or relevant policies. Administrators may impose sanctions such as editing restrictions, bans, or blocks. An editor can only be sanctioned after the editor has been made aware that general sanctions are in effect. It is only effective if it is logged here. Before continuing to edit pages in these topic areas, please familiarise yourself with the general sanctions system. Don't hesitate to contact me or another editor if you have any questions.MER-C 09:35, 29 June 2019 (UTC)

Just to clarify, I understand re reliable source. If you see in my recent edit, almost all references changed to mainstream source / academic paper according to Wikipedia guideline. Anyway, I will not continue to edit about NEM. Thanks.
Accept reason:
2nd chance with conditions. User will 1) not add any content copyrighted elsewhere, including content that is close paraphrase, 2) will reliably source all edits, 3) will not edit about NEM or any other blockchain/crypto currency, broadly construed. 4) you were quite slippery in denying any official connection to NEM. I urge you to disclose any unofficial connection. Please understand that you may be blocked indefinitely and without further warning if you violate these conditions. This should be regarded as a 'last chance Dlohcierekim (talk) 18:33, 4 July 2019 (UTC)
Thank you for accepting my request. Further explanation, I'm closely following the project since the beginning, in forum, telegram etc. You can see my Wikipedia account created before the project begin in 2014. I only make my first edit around 2018 minor edit and add references to other people's edit. I can confirm, I don't have official or unofficial connection to NEM. I have interest in NEM blockchain because I own some NEM/XEM. May I know why my account is still blocked?
- @Dlohcierekim: Did you forget something? Looks like the original block is still in place. Jannik Schwaß (talk) 06:03, 7 July 2019 (UTC)
