Collingwood Monument, which you submitted to Articles for creation, has been created.
Congratulations, and thank you for helping expand the scope of Wikipedia! We hope you will continue making quality contributions.
The article has been assessed as Start-Class, which is recorded on its talk page. Most new articles start out as Stub-Class or Start-Class and then attain higher grades as they develop over time. You may like to take a look at the grading scheme to see how you can improve the article.
Since you have made at least 10 edits over more than four days, you can now create articles yourself without posting a request. However, you may continue submitting work to Articles for creation if you prefer.
If you have any questions, you are welcome to ask at the help desk. Once you have made at least 10 edits and had an account for at least four days, you will have the option to create articles yourself without posting a request to Articles for creation.

Please do not introduce links in actual articles to draft articles, as you did to Albert Communal Cemetery Extension (War Graves). Since a draft is not yet ready for the main article space, it is not in shape for ordinary readers, and links from articles should not go to a draft. Such links are contrary to the Manual of Style. An edit has converted these links, into links to the not-currently-existing page (redlinks) where the draft will be placed if it is eventually accepted. Thus the links will automatically become valid links aimed at the correct target when and if the draft is accepted. Thank you. DES(talk)DESiegel Contribs16:54, 4 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

Nominations for the upcoming project coordinator election are now open. A team of up to ten coordinators will be elected for the next year. The project coordinators are the designated points of contact for issues concerning the project, and are responsible for maintaining our internal structure and processes. They do not, however, have any authority over article content or editor conduct, or any other special powers. More information on being a coordinator is available here. If you are interested in running, please sign up here by 23:59 UTC on 14 September! Voting doesn't commence until 15 September. If you have any questions, you can contact any member of the coord team. Peacemaker67 (click to talk to me) 02:04, 1 September 2020 (UTC)Reply

Unreliable sources
Just a note about sources which have been decided are unreliable and should no longer be used on Wikipedia. The latest one is the Daily Mail and this is been removed at the moment. If this is used on any of the projects articles then please remove it and replace with a more reliable source. If another source cannot be found then the reference and the text it supports should be removed from the article or if you think that the information is important the text should be tagged as {{citation needed}}.

Happy Christmas
It is time to wish all members of the project a Happy Christmas. Though it will be a very different one this year because of the restrictions placed on us by the government because of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Though there will be some relaxation of the rules for a 5-day period over the Christmas period it will not allow much of the usual festivities to take place. Hopefully the vaccination will be available early next year for the country to get back to some sort of normality.

Happy Yorkshire Day, this month with the Olympic Games in progress it would be good to take a look at some of the articles related to Yokshire competitors. I have gone through and tagged those competitors that have articles and are born in Yorkshire, though there are a significant number that do not include details of where they are from. If you know ones that should be tagged then please take this opportunity to tag them and add relevant categories to their articles. Many are just a couple of line stubs and could do with improving to give some background to these athletes. Many are in need of photographs and there may be some free ones available to help illustrate articles.
Later in the month there will also be the start of the Paralympic Games. Another set of articles that will get a high number of hits as people search for details of the competitors and could do with work to get them in to shape.
Hopefully we will have more Yorkshire medals from both games to celebrate.
WikiProject Yorkshire Collaboration of the Month Project
The August 2021 articles selected below are an editor choice as there were no nominations on the project talk page. I have gone for a couple of current Olympians this month though could not find any B-class so have gone for a C-class.
The project is subscribed to a clean-up listing which lists articles tagged with various clean-up tags that need attention. The listing is refreshed by a bot on a regular basis.
Monitoring is essential Use the watchlist to keep an eye on changes to the project's articles so that vandalism and spamming can be removed as quickly as possible.
Moves Please be careful when performing articles moves and ensure that you also move all the talk sub-pages and update any image fair use rational. Otherwise the archives, to-do lists, assessment comments and GA reviews get lost and the image may be deleted as it has an incorrect FUR. You will also have to check that the Commons link is set correctly.
Thanks

Wiki Loves Monuments
September is the time for the annual Wiki Loves Monuments competition to get quality photographs of listed buildings and scheduled monuments in the UK. It would be good if any members in the Yorkshire area got out and about taking images of any monuments or listed buildings that they find. There are still several entries on the various list articles without images and it would be best to prioritise these if you are in the right place. Details for this years competition can be found here. There are cash prises of up to £250 for the best images that are submitted.
If you are not in Yorkshire then you are still able to join in as the competition covers the whole of the UK, separate competitions are available for other areas of the world if you are not UK based.

Just a quick correction to the prior message about the 2022 MILHIST coordinator election! I (Hog Farm) didn't proofread the message well enough and left out a link to the election page itself in this message. The voting will occur here; sorry about the need for a second message and the inadvertent omission from the prior one. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 17:40, 15 September 2022 (UTC)Reply

A note that there will be a major change coming up for North Yorkshire with the reorganisation of the local government of the area. This will see the abolition of the districts and North Yorkshire becoming a unitary authority taking on all of the responsibilities of the district councils. Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Arthur John Allmand, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages British and Celtic. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Article counts
The drop in the article count last month was caused by a BOT converting the assesments over for pages that had become redirects. Please remember that when you convert an existing article into a redirect to change the class rating to |class=Redir and remove the importance rating from the project banner on the talk page.

Happy Christmas
A Happy Christmas to all members of the project and thanks for all the work you have put in supporting articles relating to Yorkshire. The year saw much change, especially to the governance of North Yorkshire which became a unitary authority in April. This affected a large number of articles, but most of this has been done by those who are active. There is still many of the smaller settlements that need updating, so if you have time have a go at bringing them up to date.

Unreferenced backlog
There is an Unreferenced Article Backlog drive running throughout February across Wikipedia, it would be good for project members to be involved in this and help reduce the number of unreferenced articles supported by the project. You do not have to signup to be involved. There are currently 245 in the "Cites no sources" section of the project's clean-up listing that could do with some sources adding to them.

Hello there! Interested in having a chat with fellow Wikipedians? There's a meetup in Leeds on Saturday 4th May 2024, at the Tiled Hall Café at Leeds Central Library.
You're receiving this one-off message as you're either a member of WikiProject Yorkshire, you've expressed an interest in a previous Leeds meetup years ago, or (for about 4 of you), we've met :)
I plan to organise more in future, so if you'd like to be notified next time, please say so over on the meetup page.
Please also invite any Wikimedia people you know (or have had wiki dealings with) – spread the word! Hope to see you there.

Nominations for the upcoming project coordinator election have opened. A team of up to ten coordinators will be elected for the next coordination year. Voting will commence on 15 September. If you have any questions, you can contact any member of the current coord team. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 06:40, 1 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
