Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading Image:Head by james allen p.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

Problems with the James Allen article

edit

Thanks for your note, which I've reproduced below for your convenience. Please remember to sign your comments with four tildes.

I created the page about the British artist James Allen (Painter, illustrator,Stained Glass artist.

So... let me know what was the problem for you not to like the article and delete the page. The page had bio and photo gallery of the artist work. Please let me know what was the problem so I can create it again in a way it wont be deleted. Thanks —Preceding unsigned comment added by Boomer38 (talkcontribs) 14:41, 18 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

To begin, you may want to read the material at Wikipedia:Your first article and Wikipedia:Why was my article deleted?, both of which contain lots of relevant information. I looked at the deleted article to refresh my memory and noted that it had a complete lack of references. You can read the relevant Wikipedia policy by clicking on the word "references" in this paragraph. Essentially what would be required is a number of references to the writing of independent, arm's-length, third-party experts who assert the notability of Mr. Allen's work in a way that is verifiable. This means articles in books and magazines (among other sources) -- it doesn't mean statements from galleries that sell his work or from people who have a financial interest in his success, or from blogs, forums, etc. The statements in the article about the themes of Mr. Allen's work were not referenced -- they fall under the policy of WP:NPOV and must be either referenced (who said them? where did they write it? what expertise do they have for saying those things?) or removed. You will have also noted by now that the article had a number of copyright problems with the images that you uploaded; Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously and cannot accept images that don't meet its copyright rules. I hope this explains the situation more thoroughly to you; if I can be of further assistance to help you understand Wikipedia policies, let me know.
