License tagging for Image:Melbourne's TT 1998.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Melbourne's TT 1998.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

AfD nomination of Australia's 6.30pm current affairs ratings war

edit

An editor has nominated Australia's 6.30pm current affairs ratings war, an article on which you have worked or that you created, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not"). Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Australia's 6.30pm current affairs ratings war and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you. Please note: This is an automatic notification by a bot. I have nothing to do with this article or the deletion nomination, and can't do anything about it. Image:Melbourne's TT 1998.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Melbourne's TT 1998.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Longhair\talk 13:25, 1 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

List of Sea Patrol Episodes

edit

Regarding your edits of approximately one week ago to the List of Sea Patrol episodes list:

I see that you have revised the format of the ratings table, it looks much better now. I also see that you have started to re-enter the data and have stopped. I have re-entered all the data which you deleted into the new table format.

I also notice that, when I checked some of the ratings data via [www.oztam.com.au OzTAM] it was very inconsistent with the data in the table and this did not appear to correspond with the OzTAM data (OzTAM data just takes into account metropolitern ratings data, btw). Is the data in the table completely wrong or am I looking at the wrong source? Is there another website that I should be looking at for more correct data, perhaps data from all over the country, not just the cities?

Sea Patrol Ratings

edit

Hello Bortholomew,

Just a quick question: I'm wanting to add some references to the ratings for Sea Patrol. I see that most can be referenced from the OzTAM top 20 but, for any episode that wasn't in the weekly top 20, I don't know where the data came from. I would appreciate it if you could perhaps tell me where I could find the data.

Referencing of Ratings

edit

Hi Bortholomew,

I notice your work with the ratings in the All Saints article; it looks great!

Just wondering if you could maybe add references to the ratings so everyone knows where you got them and so they can be verified? After all, adding references sources is the only way Wikipedia will come to be a respected source of information.

Thanks, Daniel99091 (talk) 11:03, 6 June 2008 (UTC).Reply

Hi Bortholomew, and thanks for your response,
I'm not concerned about the accuracy of the data, I'm sure it's all right, I just think that data such as ratings look much better with a reference next to it, even if the reference is to a hardcopy source. Plus, if the article ever goes to G.A. or F.A., it will need references to every fact such as these. Check out Wikipedia:Citation templates for templates citing online and hardcover stuff.

AfD nomination of List of Australian television ratings for 2008

edit

I have nominated List of Australian television ratings for 2008, an article you created, for deletion. I do not feel that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of Australian television ratings for 2008. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? Bidgee (talk) 13:18, 27 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Ratings

edit

Hi Mate, the weekly ratings - it doesn't matter when they're on - as long as they're the highest? So they can even be shown at 4am in the morning, have over 2 million viewers and still count as the top? I thought it was Primetime only, but anyway..Alltrainzfan (talk) 00:07, 29 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Content removed

edit

Dear Bortholomew:

The Wikimedia Foundation (“Wikimedia”) has taken down content that you posted here: List of Australian television ratings for 2001 and List of Australian television ratings for 2008 because someone alleged that your post infringes on a copyright. You can see their communication here: http://wikimediafoundation.org/wiki/DMCA_OZTAM

When someone makes a validly formulated notice of copyright infringement, the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (“DMCA”) requires Wikimedia to take the content down and to notify you that we have removed the content. This notice, by itself, does not mean that anyone is suing you. The take-down requestor might only be interested in removing the content from our site.

What Can You Do?

You are not obligated to take any action, but if you feel that your content does not infringe on any copyrights, you can contest the take-down request by submitting a ‘counter-notice’ to us. Before doing so, you should understand your legal position and you may wish to consult with an attorney. If you submit a counter-notice, the alleged copyright holder can stop us from restoring the content by suing you. Please note that Wikimedia will not be a party to any legal action that arises from you sending a counter-notice, and that Wikimedia is unable to provide you with legal advice.

Filing a Counter-Notice

If you choose to submit a counter notice, you must send a letter to legal wikimedia.org asking Wikimedia to restore your content. The letter must comply with DMCA standards and must contain the following:

  • A link to where the content was before we took it down;
  • A statement, under penalty of perjury, that you believe the content was taken down mistakenly;
  • Your name, address, and phone number;
  • If your address is in the United States, a statement that says “I consent to the jurisdiction of the Federal District Court in the district where my address is located, and I will accept service of process from the person who complained about the content I posted”; or if your address is outside the United States, a statement that says “I agree to accept service of process in any jurisdiction where I can be found”; and finally,
  • Your physical or electronic signature.

Pursuant to the DMCA, Wikimedia must inform the alleged copyright holder that you sent us a counter-notice and give the alleged copyright holder a copy of the counter-notice. We will restore the content you posted within ten (10) to fourteen (14) business days, provided that the alleged copyright holder does not give notice of suit to restrain re-posting of the material.

Miscellaneous

As a matter of policy and under appropriate circumstances, the WMF will block the accounts of repeat infringers as provided under the DMCA.

If you would like to learn more about Wikimedia’s policies, please refer to the Wikimedia Terms of Use, available at http://wikimediafoundation.org/wiki/Terms_of_use and the Wikimedia Legal Policies, available at http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Legal/Legal_Policies. More information on DMCA compliance may also be found at:

Wikimedia appreciates your support of Wikipedia and will be happy to assist you if you have any additional concerns. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions regarding this notice.

ArbCom elections are now open!

edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
