Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Kasaragod taluk, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages Bela and Kolathur. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Hello, I'm Yamaguchi先生. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, Joida, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so. You can have a look at referencing for beginners. If you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Yamaguchi先生 (talk) 19:50, 15 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

I've added a citation to the pie chart which is accessible. Just click on Karnataka in that which will lead to languages spoken in taluks of Karnataka state. In that, you can see Supa there. Supa also known as Joida. I've attached references to that too. Boschanot (talk) 05:45, 16 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hi Boschanot, the source for the pie chart looks fine, thank you for adding them. The references provided for the lede, however, are not valid, nor do I believe that they are actually necessary. [1] Why is "IndiaStudyChannel.com" being added as a reference here at all, and what is the actual link at deccanherald? If there is not an actual link to follow, these references should be removed as they currently provide no value. Regards, Yamaguchi先生 (talk) 20:25, 16 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hello Boschanot, would you please explain what is the purpose of this edit? [2] The concern is similar to that at the Joida page, where invalid external links are being cited as references, but do not provide any information. Please review the Wikipedia:Citing sources content guidelines or the simplified version at Help:Referencing for beginners. It is not helpful to make a vague reference to a domain name/website, as it does not provide any means of verification. Regards, Yamaguchi先生 (talk) 23:32, 16 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

Kasaragod and Kannur district falls under north malabar region. This is a cultural entity. I've attached citations for that which is accessible. If you want more, I can add more Boschanot (talk) 00:28, 17 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
Boschanot, please respond to the questions asked here. With this edit [3] what was your intent on including a link to "IndiaStudyChannel.com" as an empty reference? Likewise with this edit [4] what is the purpose of adding an invalid external link? These links are insufficient as sources, as they are vague references to a domain name or website, and fail to provide any means of verification. Please review Wikipedia:Citing sources guidelines, and note that there are resources available for help at Wikipedia:Teahouse. You may also consider discussing your proposed changes on the respective article talk page. Persistent and continued addition of unsourced or poorly sourced content in this manner is disruptive, if you have any other poorly sourced changes elsewhere please self-revert or remediate them as soon as possible. Regards, Yamaguchi先生 (talk) 17:51, 19 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

Please stop your disruptive editing. If you continue to add unsourced or poorly sourced content, as you did at Kannur district, you may be blocked from editing. Yamaguchi先生 (talk) 17:56, 19 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

Language of cited references

edit

Naturally, for an English language encyclopaedia citations to references in English are preferable where possible, but they aren't "mandatory", as a citation in another language is better than no citation, and the fact that a cited source isn't in English doesn't invalidate it. By all means add reliable English citations where there aren't any, if you can, but please don't remove references just because they aren't in English. JBW (talk) 10:22, 3 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

Editing without using an account, and edit-warring

edit
  1. Editing sometimes using your account and sometimes without logging in is not a good idea, as it is likely to mislead other editors into thinking that different people are involved. It also runs the risk of giving the impression that you are dishonestly trying to give the impression that two different editors are involved, even if in fact you don't intend to give that impression. Editing the same page both with and without using your account is something which you must not do, as the risk of misleading is too great.
  2. If you find you are in disagreement with other editors, you may like to explain your reasons, and be willing to discuss the issues involved, with a view to trying to reach agreement. However, repeatedly restoring your preferred version of page content, presumably in the hope that if you carry on long enough other editors will give up and you will get your way, is not acceptable. If we were to allow that, the result would be that the most stubborn editor would always get their way, which would obviously not be helpful. Editors who persist in reverting to their preferred version may be blocked from editing. A more detailed account is available in the policy on edit-warring. Ways to improve Hosabettu, Kasaragod

edit

Hello, Boschanot,

Thank you for creating Hosabettu, Kasaragod.

I have tagged the page as having some issues to fix, as a part of our page curation process and note that:

These references are vague and not precise. Consider using Geonames as a source. Add precise references that mention this village in Kerala.

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, leave a comment here and begin it with {{Re|Whiteguru}}. Remember to sign your reply with ~~~~. For broader editing help, please visit the Teahouse.

Hello Boschanot, please note that Wikipedia is a collaborative environment, and as such communication is required. Persistent disruptive editing by way of removing sourced content without explanation, the addition of unsourced/poorly sourced content and continuous edit warring across multiple topics are not welcome. Editors are expected to make a good faith effort to respond and discuss concerns as they arise, which is not happening here. Any and all changes to Wikipedia articles are required to be attributed to reliable sources, as you have been notified.
