Fair use rationale for File:Gary Williams Abbey Road.jpg
editThanks for uploading or contributing to File:Gary Williams Abbey Road.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Nyttend (talk) 03:11, 11 January 2011 (UTC)

DYK
editHello! Your submission of Article at the Did You Know nominations page has been reviewed, and there still are some issues that may need to be clarified. Please review the comment(s) underneath your nomination's entry and respond there as soon as possible. Thank you for contributing to Did You Know!
Hello and welcome Bosents - Shirik nominated the article on Gary Williams (singer) to appear on the main page (hopefully). It looks good but do you have a reference which says he sang at the 'Doctor Who - A Celebration' concert with David Tennant? Just that the link goes to a DVD (am I missing the credits attached to the DVD there somewhere?) Casliber (talk · contribs) 11:31, 12 January 2011 (UTC)
--
- Hello, can I reply here? The link you refer to is the one next to the word "DVD" - and for clarification, the reference now makes clear it's a link to the DVD. In the article, the first mention of the concert is linked to another Wiki article where Gary Williams is credited as a singer at the concert.
- Can I ask - are YouTube links from Wiki encouraged? Also links to Facebook Fan Pages?
- Thanks
Bosents (talk) 02:25, 16 January 2011 (UTC)
- Replying here is fine - we need reliable sources and don't generaly use youtube or fan pages - newspapers are good where possible. Welcome abroad :) Casliber (talk · contribs) 02:46, 16 January 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks. So is the DVD thing fine, or should I remove that reference? Regarding the Facebook Fan Page, I don't mean it as a "reliable source", I mean an external link, like the person's website, which seems to be acceptable. I know some artistes will only use MySpace or Facebook Fan Pages as their only web presence now.
Bosents (talk) 09:10, 16 January 2011 (UTC)
- I have just removed this DVD reference, it's not important. I have also removed the photo credit as someone said this was not relevant. Bosents (talk) 02:58, 17 January 2011 (UTC)
Orphaned non-free image File:Gary Williams Abbey Road small.jpg
editThanks for uploading File:Gary Williams Abbey Road small.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of "file" pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Skier Dude2 (talk) 20:39, 17 January 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks, it's not necessary now, as I am just using the headshot that was also approved. I will remove the other images, or attempt to! :-) Bosents (talk) 17:50, 18 January 2011 (UTC)
- Sorry, not sure how to delete it, but it looks like it will just be removed anyway, so I will let the procedure happen. There is also this image, which I think should be removed File:Gary_Williams_Abbey_Road.jpg can you remove it too? or flag it for removal? Bosents (talk) 17:56, 18 January 2011 (UTC)
DYK for Gary Williams (singer)
editOn 27 January 2011, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Gary Williams (singer), which you created or substantially expanded. The fact was ... that singer Gary Williams played Frank Sinatra in the West End production of The Rat Pack? You are welcome to check how many hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, quick check) and add it to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page. |

Jon Courtenay (Entertainer) moved to draftspace
editAn article you recently created, Jon Courtenay (Entertainer), does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:
" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. - Hello. Thanks for this. I am still learning and I appreciate your guidance. As he just won, there will be many references in reliable media. I will add one from ITV website now, which I assume is reliable, and as more appear I will add those. Thanks again.
