How is a vendor setting up at the Civic Center relevant to its history and why is it notable enough to warrant mentioning at all in the article? Wow ... fascism?? ... Come on. We're both just trying to build an encyclopedia here, no? I apologize if I was heavy-handed. I should have given you some time to respond to my note before I removed your text about the vendor. It's definitely not my habit to jump on new editors' work. I think if you check my edit history and talk page, you'll see that I'm not one to indiscriminately remove others' work. In this case, since I thought there was a reasonable chance that the edit was made by the vendor himself, I decided to be bold and remove it. That type of thing happens all the time out here. And there's no need to explain commutativity - that's what the wikilink is for (as most readers will know it). I struggled with the wording, and was very hesitant to use "vandalism" but couldn't think of anything better at that moment. I thought of something better right after, but didn't know how to change my edit comment. I think I should have said "specious section removed." As you can see, the section had a "citation needed" on it, and for good reason. The section is more a thing of polemics than of facts. If you read that Wikipedia article, The Tragedy of the Commons, it is overlong to a great extent, and the reason is people keep adding sections that are comment-like in nature. They have disagreements with the idea, but that should not be in an article meant to explain the idea.Br77rino (talk) 00:56, 9 February 2013 (UTC)

GMT and summer time

According to Dennis McCarthy and P. Kenneth Seidelmann, in their 2009 book published by Wiley-VCH TIME—From Earth Rotation to Atomic Physics page 17, "GMT can be used in the United Kingdom as the name for daylight saving time, so it is UTC plus one hour. So, since 1925 the use of GMT has had different meanings and its use can be very confusing. Thus, it is recommended that for any precise timekeeping, the name GMT should not be used." [Emphasis added.] My experience is that outside the UK, GMT does not observe summer time. I will look for a reliable source to confirm GMT outside the UK does not observe summer time and edit the articles concerned accordingly. We should not claim in an article that GMT does, or does not, observe summer time, but rather point out the conflicting practices. Jc3s5h (talk) 11:10, 13 August 2014 (UTC)
