I didn't know that, I just wanted to know which ants species the ants in A Bug's Life are based on is all, and that was the closest I could get to at the characteristics, so sorry about that, but which ant species matches them closely anyway? Brayden Lockhart (talk) 21:52, 23 July 2026 (UTC)

They are cartoon characters, not real ants. They may have some characteristics of one or more ant species, but they obviously are not a close depiction of any real species, since they have mammalian eyes, four limbs instead of six, walk on two legs, speak English, etc. CodeTalker (talk) 21:56, 23 July 2026 (UTC)

Look, I understand that the ants in A Bug's Life are fictional ants, but I just wanted to make it clear that they were based on a certain common species of ants or something, but maybe not, but which ant species would you say could've been a more realistic inspiration for these ants, despite them being fictional, because there are honestly many different types of ants like Argentine ants, Black garden ants, Carpenter ants, Field ants, Fire ants, and Pavement ants, and these were just the most common ones I could think of, but be honest with me, do you think the ants (despite having only four limbs, and mammalian eyes) were possibly based on Field ants or something? because they were a little bigger than Tuck and Roll the pill-bugs, and Francis the ladybug, but smaller than the other characters. Wikipedia content is based on what is published in reliable sources; see WP:V. If you find a source that says that the ants in the movie are based on a specific species, then you can add that to the article, along with a reference to that source. But what you can't do is compare the ants to various species yourself, draw your own conclusion about what species they most closely resemble, and then add that to the article. My bad, although, Francis however appears to be based on a Seven-spotted ladybug for example, since that's literally the most recognizable ladybug species, also, even though Heimlich is a fictional cartoon character, He honestly looks like he could be based on a Swallowtail caterpillar, but which one seems more realistic to Heimlich's patterns, and colorization? and I'm not actually adding this in, I'm just curious is all.
