Pyrrhura
editI see you've added a note on the talk page regarding the merge of P. frontalis & P. devillei. As far as I can see, the info regarding similarities in chromosomes in P. frontalis versus P. molinae also originate from you; is this based entirely on the old study by Valentine (1987)? If not, I would be very interested in getting a reference for that, as the only recent studies I know of (one unpublished by Tavares et al., second is Ribas et al., 2006) show a divergence level similar to, or beyond that, of several other taxa typically recognized as species in this genus (though they, together with P. perlata & P. lepida, belong in the same superspecies). Both studies, however, were limited to mtDNA and one could have wished for better sampling. I am considering re-starting the P. devillei page by moving the relevant info from P. frontalis and then adding to that. I've placed a few other arguments on the talk page for P. frontalis, but would be interested in your input, as you clearly have been highly involved in that page. ThanksRabo3 23:01, 2 July 2007 (UTC)
