Welcome!

edit

Hello, Bsnigam, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.

I noticed that one of the first articles you edited was Isha Foundation, which appears to be dealing with a topic with which you may have a conflict of interest. In other words, you may find it difficult to write about that topic in a neutral and objective way, because you are, work for, or represent, the subject of that article. Your recent contributions may have already been undone for this very reason.

To reduce the chances of your contributions being undone, you might like to draft your revised article before submission, and then ask me or another editor to proofread it. See our help page on userspace drafts for more details. If the page you created has already been deleted from Wikipedia, but you want to save the content from it to use for that draft, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.

One rule we do have in connection with conflicts of interest is that accounts used by more than one person will unfortunately be blocked from editing. Wikipedia generally does not allow editors to have usernames which imply that the account belongs to a company or corporation. If you have a username like this, you should request a change of username or create a new account. (A name that identifies the user as an individual within a given organization may be OK.)

In addition, if you receive, or expect to receive, compensation for any contribution you make, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation to comply with our terms our use and policy on paid editing.

Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{Help me}} before the question. Again, welcome! Proposed deletion of Narmada Seva Yatra

edit

The article Narmada Seva Yatra has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references. Under Wikipedia policy, this biography of a living person will be deleted after seven days unless it has at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp/dated}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within seven days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. Speedy deletion nomination of Insight: The DNA of Success

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Insight: The DNA of Success requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organized event (tour, function, meeting, party, etc.), but it does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Deletion reasoning

edit

Thanks for your note. There are a couple of issues at hand; since you ask about notability, I'll address that first. Newspaper reports are virtually always primary sources (they're reporting what's going on right now, not compiling overviews of what was reported in the past), and primary sources don't count toward notability. Moreover, newspaper reports are almost always written by individuals without expertise in the field; the journalist and his editor are experts in ascertaining some of the basics and writing them up really fast in a form that the public will find interesting, not in providing a scholarly overview of the subject (yes, exceptions exist, but they're quite rare), so we can't generally treat them as reliable for anything but basic statements. Meanwhile, as to the speedy deletion: I acknowledge that maybe A7 wasn't the right route (I'd put this in the awkward middle zone of "not A7-worthy but not notable"), but the content and the tone are quite promotional, and if I found another page of the same sort right now, I'd speedy delete it as advertising, criterion WP:G11. If you wish me to undelete and redelete it under G11, I will, but as the result will be the same, I don't particularly see the point. Nyttend (talk) 12:04, 16 April 2017 (UTC)Reply

DYK for Narmada Seva Yatra

edit

On 6 June 2017, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Narmada Seva Yatra, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that a campaign to conserve the Narmada River centering around a 2,930-kilometre (1,820 mi) yatra has reached more than 30 million people? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Narmada Seva Yatra. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, Narmada Seva Yatra), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Managing a conflict of interest

edit

  Hello, Bsnigam. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about in the page Jaggi Vasudev, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Also please note that editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. This pertains to Jaggi Vasudev, Isha Foundation and related articles.Cpt.a.haddock (talk) (please ping when replying) 07:48, 3 December 2018 (UTC)Reply
