Removing the notability flag?
editGreetings,
I wonder what you think about removing this article's "notability" flag. It is currently flagged with this note:
"The topic of this article may not meet Wikipedia's notability guideline for biographies. (September 2024)"
If my count is accurate, there are about 53 newspaper articles from 7 or 8 sources. Would that be enough to justify removing the notability flag? Thank you. Bushido77 (talk) 11:43, 20 September 2024 (UTC)
- It may or it may not. Wikipedia's notability standards require that these newspapers go into some depth on Heisner, not just a short blurb. I don't have time to review all the clippings you've found, but I am familiar with Wikipedia enough to answer most questions you have about notability. ❤HistoryTheorist❤ 01:17, 21 September 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks. At this time, I won't remove the notability flag yet. Some of the articles have many details and others have brief mentions. Combined, I would think they would qualify him as notable. I will keep learning. :-) Bushido77 (talk) 02:25, 21 September 2024 (UTC)
- It's alright. Good Wikipedians (our way of describing a Wikipedia editor) assume good faith and I will extend some of that to you. Real life has forced me to be a part-timer, however, a "super-experienced" wikipedian would be able to give you a comprehensive review. ❤HistoryTheorist❤ 02:30, 21 September 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks again. I am happy it was approved and now people can work on it to resolve the issues. Bushido77 (talk) 03:29, 21 September 2024 (UTC)

Seeking Consensus on removing the "notability" flag.
editThis article has close to 60 newspaper articles from seven (7) or eight (8) different sources spanning more than five (5) decades, I think the "notability" flag should be removed. Is there any reason that notice should not be removed? Thanks. Bushido77 (talk) 16:20, 23 September 2024 (UTC)
Close Connection
editI am confused by this note:
"A major contributor to this article appears to have a close connection with its subject."
I admitted at the onset of writing this article that I was a student of Robert Heisner for 40+ years.
What can I do to eliminate this note? Thank you. Bushido77 (talk) 20:28, 24 September 2024 (UTC)
- Alright, let me explain why that remains in place. You have followed all Wikipedia policies and guidelines in disclosing your connection, which is what you are supposed to do. Unfortunately, all that you can do is wait, as others not connected must review and the article and make sure it is written in an objective tone. This might mean that they make some of their own stylistic adjustments, which is totally okay, as nobody "owns" any article.
- A recent example was the BibleProject article where a current or former employee wrote a pretty objective article. It took about a year for the "close connection" tag to be removed after other editors have gained a consensus over the objectivity of the article. (If you want to see the details, you can look at its talk page and the "main" page history.)
- It might be frustrating knowing that the tag might languish for a bit, as Wikipedians move on their own timeframe, but if the article you wrote is truly objective and written from a neutral perspective, it will eventually be removed. Hope that helps! ❤HistoryTheorist❤ 23:56, 24 September 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks for the clarification. I was just surprised by the chain of events. I disclosed the truth. The article was approved with different notations. Then this notation was added. I am a bit new to editing in Wikipedia, so I am trying to learn. Waiting for others is not a problem, I did my best to be objective, and will continue to do so.
