1. - I, fought in the American Revolution, moved to the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia, married Polly, their eldest was named Robert (II).
2. - II, (1780-1846) married Mary Ann Hall. Tried to build a mechanical reaper. Had a son named Robert (III). Owned 9 slaves.
3. - III, died of the "fluX', but his brother, Cyrus, made the reaper work and moved to Chicago in 1847.
4. - IV, Robert Sanderson McCormick (1849–1919), U.S. Minister to Austria-Hungary 1901-1902, U.S. Ambassador to Austria-Hungary 1902, U.S. Ambassador to Russia 1902-1905, U.S. Ambassador to France 1905-1907.
