The article Urutur catholics has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- I do not feel that this subjects meets the criteria for inclusion. The only source I can find is in the Madras Government Press's "Cuddapah" (from 1915), which is only a minor mention
While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. -- PhantomSteve/talk|contribs\ 11:59, 21 September 2010 (UTC)
Speedy deletion nomination of Urutur catholics
editYou may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
A tag has been placed on Urutur catholics requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article, which appears to be about a real person, individual animal(s), an organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, does not indicate how or why the subject of the article is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
at the top of the article, immediately below the speedy deletion ({{db-...}}
) tag (if no such tag exists, the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate), and providing your reasons for contesting on the article's talk page, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. You may freely add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.
You may want to read the guidelines for specific types of articles: biographies, websites, bands, or companies. Peridon (talk) 17:01, 21 September 2010 (UTC)
Speedy deletion nomination of Urutur catholics
editThank you for experimenting with Wikipedia. Your test worked, and the page that you created has been or soon will be deleted. Please use the sandbox for any other tests you want to do. Take a look at the welcome page if you would like to learn more about contributing to our encyclopedia. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag - if no such tag exists then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hangon tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. - I have userfied the deleted version to User:C9VReddy/Urutur catholics. Please note that it is important that you work on the article, and find reliable independent sources which verify the information, and which show that the subject meets Wikipedia's notability guidelines. I will be keeping an eye on the page, to see how you get on! -- PhantomSteve/talk|contribs\ 20:55, 23 September 2010 (UTC)
- I have corrected the reference which you provided, however I cannot find any publication details for "The History of Catholic Diocese of Kurnool" by Fr. Anthony Chowrappa. Where was it published? Who was the publisher? When was it published? Does it have an ISBN? Without further details, it would be hard for someone to be able to obtain a copy to verify the information. If you can let me know (here) this information, I can format it properly in the draft article. -- PhantomSteve/talk|contribs\ 07:47, 24 September 2010 (UTC)
HI Phantom, The History of Catholic Diocese of Kurnool Diocese was first published in January 2008 at Don Bosco Navajeevan Offset Press, Hyderabad, India. The publisher is Kurnool Diocese. This book doesnt have ISBN. To Verify the content, unfortunately this book is not available online. I can scan some pages and send it to you if you want.
I have couple of questions 1. Can 'urutur catholics' considered as a stub? I feel this is better option where even other editors can work on it going forward. 2. I dont know how to include pictures in the article. For E.g, i want to insert a photo of urutur old church in the article. Can you please let me know on this?
- Hi, thanks for contacting me! OK, a few points/answers:
- The "History" book: this appears to be basically a self-published book, which would not necessarily be counted as reliable and independent - if the information could be found in a book or media article written by someone/an organisation which is independent of the subject, that would be better!
- I have done some tidying up: moved one of your sources to "further reading", tidied up the references, a little bit of re-writing, I've removed the current bishop's name, as that is not about the village directly
- I have added a few "citation needed" tags, showing all the facts for which I could find no verification.
- I have added a couple of "stub"s
- Regarding pictures: before I explain how to add them to the article, can you just tell me where they are from (a website - if so, what is the web address? a book - if so, what book (title, author, publisher, date of publication, etc?)?
- I'll be honest, I fail to see that the page meets the criteria for inclusion in Wikipedia (see here for the criteria). What is so special about Roman Catholics in Urutur? What I really need to see is some indication of independent reliable sources which discuss the subject, showing that it is notable enough for inclusion here. -- PhantomSteve/talk|contribs\ 23:05, 27 September 2010 (UTC)
