Welcome!

Hello, CRBR, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question and then place {{helpme}} after the question on your talk page. Untitled U2 Album

Please do not post copyrighted material to Wikipedia without permission from the copyright holder, as you did to U2's 16th album‎. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously, and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If you believe that the article is not a copyright violation, or if you have permission from the copyright holder to release the content freely under the GNU Free Documentation License (GFDL) then you should do one of the following:

  • If you have permission from the author leave a message explaining the details on the article Talk page and send an email with the message to "permissions-en (at) wikimedia (dot) org". See Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for instructions.
  • If a note on the original website states that re-use is permitted under the GFDL or released into the public domain leave a note at Talk:U2's 16th album‎ with a link to where we can find that note;
  • If you own the copyright to the material: send an e-mail from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en(at)wikimedia(dot)org or a postal message to the Wikimedia Foundation permitting re-use under the GFDL, and note that you have done so on the article Talk page. Alternatively, you may create a note on your web page releasing the work under the GFDL and then leave a note at Talk:U2's 16th album‎ with a link to the details.

Otherwise, you are encouraged to rewrite this article in your own words to avoid any copyright infringement. After you do so, you should place a {{hangon}} tag on the article page and leave a note at Talk:U2's 16th album‎ saying you have done so. An administrator will review the new content before taking action.

It is also important that all Wikipedia articles have an encyclopedic tone and follow Wikipedia article layout. For more information on Wikipedia's policies, see Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. The information in question was on the songs for inclusion, taken word for word from atu2.com. I have edited the article to remove this information about the songs. If you have any questions, please feel free to contant me, or leave a message on the article's Talk Page. Thank you for your understanding.MelicansMatkin 22:43, 18 April 2007 (UTC)

Untitled Album Two

Also, I believe that this is U2's 16th commercially released album, not 14th. The complete U2 discography of albums (studio and live) includes Under A Blood Red Sky, 1980-1990, 1990-2000, and 18Singles. Because of this, I'm going to move the album to the page U2's 16th album :) MelicansMatkin 22:43, 18 April 2007 (UTC)

My User Talk

Please do not add nonsense to my User Talk. I have explained the reasoning for all of my edits above - I suggest that you reread what I have put. If you would like to discuss this further in a reasonable conversation, please leave a message on my Talk Page. Also, I am actually a huge U2 fan. MelicansMatkin 03:15, 21 April 2007 (UTC)

"Quit Editing" - Response to comment posted on my talk page

Quit editing the U2 16th album article. You have no need to. And you keep deleting my source for the album sound. Why don't you just quit editing this page. Low life

U2boy.nl is not a reputable source - it is a fansite. Since you claim that the information comes from the BBC, Q Magazine, and Rolling Stone, please provide a link to the articles in question on those websites and add it to the article using proper referencing format. Please see WP:Ref for more information. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia that everyone can edit, not just yourself. Just because you created a page does not mean you in any way have possession of the page, or can dictate what can or cannot be placed on the page. Wikipedia policy states that changes can be made by anyone, but there are guidelines that must be followed. Also, deliberately vandalising user pages (as you did to my own) is frowned upon, as is petty name calling; you should know that your conduct so far has been worthy of reporting to an administrator (something I have not done because you appear to be a new user, and I suspect that you are not yet familiar with Wikipedia policy). Finally, please do not remove comments that have been placed on your talk page - your edits can be viewed through the Page History, and will be done so by an administrator if the necessary circumstances arise. Your talk page is a record of your conversations, reminders, warnings, and blockings on Wikipedia. If you wish to remove comments from your talk page, then please archive. See WP:Archive for details on that. Please do not hesitate to contact me on my talk page if you wish to discuss this further.

Who do you think you are? And I did not CLAIM that is where I got the info. If you have a baby like problem about it, take it up with U2boy.nl

You are the one who provided U2boy.nl as a source - it is not a reputable website, and should not be used as a reference MelicansMatkin 20:28, 24 April 2007 (UTC)

Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but your recent contribution removed content from Talk:U2's Untitled 16th album. Please be more careful when editing articles and do not remove content from Wikipedia without a good reason, which should be specified in the edit summary. April 27th

Please stop. If you continue to blank out (or delete portions of) page content, templates or other materials from Wikipedia, as you did to U2's 16th album, you will be blocked from editing. You have also broken the 3RR rule. MelicansMatkin 23:02, 27 April 2007 (UTC)

CRBR, it appears you have taken to vandalizing the "U2's 16th album" article now. Please do not do this, or you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. You should try discussing the changes you want made, on the article's talk page at Talk:U2's 16th album. If you are not satisfied with the outcome of that discussion, you can try dispute resolution. If you have questions about Wikipedia policy, you may ask me at user talk:coelacan, or get input from several people at the wikipedia:help desk. ··coelacan 05:22, 28 April 2007 (UTC)

You didn't cite any sources. By the way, please sign your posts with four tildes (~), like this: ~~~~. ··coelacan 21:22, 28 April 2007 (UTC)
You deleted your own cites. It looks like you did that because you couldn't get the ref tags to work. See Wikipedia:Footnotes for help on how to do this. But atu2.com is not a reliable source anyway, since they are a fan-site. And please sign your posts.` ··coelacan 19:09, 29 April 2007 (UTC)

Apologies

I would like to apologise for my earlier conduct towards you. I understand that you are new to Wikipedia, and that the policies and formatting of the website may not be familiar to you. I was a little brusque beforehand, and perhaps did not explain things as well as I could have. I hope that if you reread all of my prior comments you can see where I was coming from. I know that you were trying hard to turn U2's 16th album into a good quality article, and that my own editing must have been very frustrating. I admit that I can be quite anal when it comes to proper formatting, and I hope you realize that my efforts where not directed against your work. Many articles are deleted soon after they have been created, if they do not contain references or other sources, are very brief, are not relevent at the moment, take content straight from another webpage, seem to have been created for the sole purpose of linking elsewhere, or many other such efforts. I was actually attempting to avoid that from happening by making the article follow Wikipedia protocol (for lack of a better word). I hope you can understand now why I made so many edits and reversions, and I would be more than happy to help if you have any questions about how to use proper Wikipedia format. MelicansMatkin 01:33, 1 May 2007 (UTC)

When you're editing

I've noticed that when you edit pages, you make several in a row to try and see how it looks. I thought I should tell you about the "Show Preview" button. When you make a change to a page, you don't have to click "Save Page" to see how it turns out - as I'm sure you've seen on many pages the result can look pretty tacky, and I've known of instances where users were given vandalism warnings because of editing in this way. But if you click "Show Preview", it will show you how the page (if you clicked "edit this page" at the top) or section (if you clicked "edit" at the side) will turn out. From there, you can just scroll straight down the page back into the edit box. Its very convenient, and I've found it really helpful. It's right next to "Save Page" too, so its impossible to miss. Cheers! MelicansMatkin 22:33, 3 May 2007 (UTC)

Image:Copy of cover.gif listed for deletion

An image or media file that you uploaded or altered, Image:Copy of cover.gif, has been listed at Wikipedia:Images and media for deletion. Please look there to see why this is (you may have to search for the title of the image to find its entry), if you are interested in it not being deleted. Thank you. U2-Unreleased and Rare (COMPLETE ARTICLE)

I have added a "{{prod}}" template to the article U2-Unreleased and Rare (COMPLETE ARTICLE), suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but I don't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and I've explained why in the deletion notice (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may contest the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Re: The Saints Are Coming Errors

I was just wondering if you thought the U2/Green Day version of The Saints Are Coming is Punk Rock? It is under the catagory of Punk Rock which I don't believe it is. I believe it needs changed to just rock. Was it also produced with Jacknife Lee? I believe it wasn't. I believe it needs change and I believe you should. Thanks CRBR 20:32, 15 June 2007 (UTC)

I checked U2Wanderer.org, but didn't see Jacknife Lee as a producer, although it's possible that they just don't have that information. You can request confirmation from some other editors as well on the article's talk page - they may have some sources that I haven't seen yet. As for the genre, I think Punk rock is actually right. The Skids were a punk band, and the actual song is a punk song. Also, Green Day are a Punk band, so I think that the genre is fine, although just plain Rock should probably be added as it definitely has a rockier feel than punk (although genre is really down to taste - I consider Zooropa a Rock album, but technically its alternative). MelicansMatkin 04:20, 16 June 2007 (UTC)
Yeah, Mercy is a really good song, eh? I hope to hear it on an actual album some day. MelicansMatkin 23:26, 18 June 2007 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free image (Image:400516.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:400516.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 05:13, 16 June 2007 (UTC)

License tagging for Image:Pr118-01.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Pr118-01.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 19:09, 13 July 2007 (UTC)

Article repost for deletion

A tag has been placed on U2's twelfth studio album, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion debate, such as articles for deletion. If you can indicate how U2's twelfth studio album is different from the previously posted material, or if you can indicate why this article should not be deleted, I advise you to place the template {{hangon}} underneath the other template on the article, and also put a note on Talk:U2's twelfth studio album saying why this article should stay. An admin should check for such edits before deleting the article. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Please read our criteria for speedy deletion, particularly item 4 under General criteria. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. We welcome your help in trying to improve Wikipedia, and we request you to follow these instructions. –Dream out loud (talk) 23:54, 12 August 2007 (UTC)

Untitled Nickelback album

A {{prod}} template has been added to the article Untitled Nickelback album, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice explains why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). If you endorse deletion of the article, and you are the only person who has made substantial edits to the page, please tag it with {{db-author}}. –Dream out loud (talk) 00:11, 13 August 2007 (UTC)

Wikibreak

I am sorry that you felt the need to take a Wikibreak because of "users like me." I had no intention for you to take any of my actions personally, however I am just trying to make Wikipedia a better place like the rest of us are. Many of your actions have violated various Wikipedia policies, and I have been simply trying to inform you of your mistakes from the beginning. Things like claiming ownership of articles, attacking other editors (including the list of editors' names you had on your user page), recreating deleted articles, not using edit summaries, etc. are all actions that should not be taken when editing Wikipedia. Constantly performing those actions may cause you to get blocked from Wikipedia in the future, so I am trying to help you out to assure you adhere to policy to make sure that does not happen. I am not yet an administrator, so I do not have the ability to delete articles, which means that when I have proposed your articles in the past for deletion, they have been deleted by other editors who also felt that their deletion was necessary. If you have a question about policy or editing, then please visit the help desk and ask there, but do not take actions that you may be unsure about. The other editors and I have simply been trying to help you out with your editing, not trying to hinder your usage by any means. If you feel that you have a dispute with another editor, then post it on the administrator's noticeboard and an administrator will resolve the issue. However, as an editor, I feel that I have done no wrong and am simply trying to improve the site, and I am sorry if you have taken any of my actions personally. –Dream out loud (talk) 13:29, 14 August 2007 (UTC)

Star (disambiguation)

When you add entries to disambiguation pages, please add only one link per entry, per WP:MOSDAB (except for redlinks where an additional link might help someone start an article). Having only a link to the disambiguated page aids navigation, and any other relevant articles should be linked to in the target article anyway. Thanks, — Swpbtalk|edits 15:35, 30 July 2007 (UTC) 20:25, 17 August 2007 (UTC)

Stars (Cranberries song)

I noticed that you just created the article Stars (Cranberries song), and I just wanted to point a few things out to you. Please don't take any of this personally, as I am simply trying to help. Firstly, pay attention to your article style and formatting. In each and every article, the article's subject should be in bold, and references to other articles should be linked. When adding references to an article, don't forget to add a references section along with the code <references/> to display the references themselves. You may want to take a look at WP:STYLE for more information on how to properly style the article. Each and every single article must also have at least one, if not more, categories. Secondly, and more importantly is article notability. Right now the article is only two short sentences long, and may not be considered notable, and is therefore subject to speedy deletion. Don't be surprised if the article gets tagged with something like {{Db-nocontext}}, because articles that are only two sentences long are not suitable for Wikipedia. If you are still working on the page and have more to contribute, you may want to add {{under construction}} to the top of the page, therefore notifying other editors not to delete the page because you are still working on it. You also may want to add a stub tag to the bottom of the article. I hope this helped out a bit. I haven't made any changes to the page because I figured that it would be best to go ahead and make those changes yourself. But if you want the article to remain, you should edit and/or expand it soon, otherwise it will most likely be deleted. Let me know if you have any other questions. –Dream out loud (talk) 04:31, 18 August 2007 (UTC)

Re:What?!

What do you mean REMOVE??? CRBR 18:02, 19 August 2007 (UTC)

As part of the names of band members you had Adam Clayton and Larry Mullen Jr. I assumed that you had just copied the U2 infobox and edited it for your own band, but forgot to remove those two names. I apologize if that was not the case. MelicansMatkin 13:56, 20 August 2007 (UTC)

Edit summaries

I have noticed that you often edit without an edit summary. Please do your best to always fill in the summary field. This is considered an important guideline in Wikipedia. Even a short summary is better than no summary. An edit summary is even more important if you delete any text; otherwise, people may think you're being sneaky. Also, mentioning one change but not another one can be misleading to someone who finds the other one more important; add "and misc." to cover the other change(s). Thanks! –Dream out loud (talk) 05:55, 24 August 2007 (UTC)
