edit- Why can't I edit Wikipedia?
Your account's edits and/or username indicate that it is being used on behalf of a company, group, or organization for purposes of promotion and/or publicity. You have violated one or more of our rules, including rules against adding inappropriate external links, posting advertisements, using Wikipedia for promotion, and editing inappropriately with a conflict of interest. This kind of activity is considered spamming and is forbidden by Wikipedia's policies. Although Wikipedia has a great many articles on companies, groups, and organizations, it is considered inappropriate for such groups to use Wikipedia to write about themselves. In addition, usernames like yours are disallowed under our username policy.
- Am I allowed to make these edits if I change my username?
Probably not. See Wikipedia:FAQ/Organization for a helpful list of frequently asked questions by people in your position. See Wikipedia:Conflict of interest for the kinds of limitations you would have to obey if you did want to continue editing about your company, group, or organization. If this does not fit in with your goals here, you will not be allowed to edit again. Consider using one of the many websites that allow this instead.
- What can I do now?
You are still welcome to write about something other than your company or organization. If you do intend to make useful contributions on some other topic, you must convince a Wikipedia administrator that you mean it. To that end, please do the following:
- Add the text
{{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}}
below this message box. - Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with a new username you are willing to use. See Special:Listusers to search for available usernames. Your new username will need to meet our username policy.
- Replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason to be unblocked. In this reason, you must:
- Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the edits for which you were blocked.
- Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.

Okay, it looks like I am getting my head handed to me! LOL Please forgive me...I and new to this and thought I was doing all the right things here! I am very confused, though. Coffeyville Resources NO longer exists. The company name is CVR Energy. I have the legal right to use copyrighted information because I do work for the company but I can't make changes to the page because I work for the company. So, how do I get the titled changed and update the information on the page? The information you have is factually incorrect with many errors and needs to be changed. How can this be done without me doing it? Someone working for Wiki put this page up several years ago but no one is updating it. It needs HELP! So, please help! Thanks so much. edit- I would suggest that you start by getting your web developers to make a note somewhere saying that Coffeyville Resources is now known as CVR Energy, as the website seems to say that Coffeyville Resources still exists as a subdivision.
- With regard to your comment "I have the legal right to use copyrighted information because I do work for the company" - that does not give us the right to use it on Wikipedia. Think about it this way - what proof do we have that you represent the company? The website clearly shows "Copyright © 2009 CVR Energy, Inc. All rights reserved" - another way you could use the information on the article would be if you could get your web developers to change this to "All images and text are released under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0 Unported License" - but that would mean that anyone can use anything on the website however they like - including images etc - including for commercial use, and CVR Energy couldn't do a thing about it!
- If you want to provide information, put it on the talk page (with a clear indication that you work for the company) - explain what you think should be added to the article, along with reliable sources for that information (that means not on your website, not in your press releases - read Wikipedia's Guidelines on Reliable Sources - the sources must be independent of the company). It would also be an idea for you to read Wikipedia's general notability guidelines and Wikipedia's notability guidelines for companies.
- Sorry if this seems a lot to take in, but as you have a potential conflict of interest (oh, read Wikipedia's guidelines on Conflict of Interest as well!), I think you need to know what is happening!
- As to renaming the article, that is done by performing a move - but until your account is autoconfirmed, you can't do that! If you can provide evidence that the company should be referred to as CVR Energy (rather than just as a subdivision of CVR Energy, which is what your website says, and the article says that too), then do so, and if the article isn't deleted I will move it. A note on the http://www.cvrenergy.com/RefiningAndOperations/index.html page saying that Coffeyville Resources Refining & Marketing (and presumably Coffeyville Resources Crude Transportation, LLC and Coffeyville Resources Terminal, LLC) are no longer called by those names but all of them are collectively called "CVR Energy" would do the trick!
- If you have any questions, feel free to leave a message here - I am watching this page, so will see it! Regards, -- PhantomSteve (Contact Me, My Contribs) 18:54, 4 November 2009 (UTC)

Thanks so much for the information, particularly on the copyright! I completely get it from Wiki's standpoint. So let's back up. I am the director of Corporate Affairs for CVR Energy. To be factually correct, Coffeyville Resources does not exist as a company holding any of CVR Energy's subisidiary companies--it is NOT our refinery (as Wiki says it is--this is WRONG--Coffeyville Resources has NEVER been our refining company name--it has its own legal name). CVR Energy's refinery subsidiary is Coffeyville Resources Refining & Marketing. What is the source the Wiki editor used to state this?
CVR Energy owns the copyright to the name "Coffeyville Resources." Also, the reference to the logo on the CVR Energy Web site covers its subidiaries--CRRM, CRNF, CRCT, CRP and CRCT (all acronyms for our subsidiaries). I don't see anywhere on our Web site that Coffeyville Resources, LLC is listed as a subsidiary of CVR Energy (as you referred to) OR a company that owns CVR Energy subsidiaries. Please look again, or point me to what I am missing. CVR Energy is the legal parent company to all of our subsidiaries, not Coffeyville Resources, LLC. The onus is on Wiki to provide the source of this information because, to the best of my knowledge, it doesn't come from our Web site or from us.
So, in regards to what wiki lists right now: Coffeyville Resources LLC also known as the COOP Refinery is now owned and operated by Coffeyville Resources Refining & Marketing, LLC...This is legally/factually incorrect, never has been true, and we've never listed this on any of our Web sites/profiles/company information/legal documents. Coffeyville Resources is not our refinery and never has been, and it has never has been listed as a refinery in ANY of our company info or profiles. Coffeyville Resources is not a COOP and never has been a COOP (what is Wiki's source for this?). The employee count is wrong (Coffeyville Resources has ALWAYS employed more than 415 employees--we began at more than 450 in 2004) and so is the bpd for the refinery and the amount of gasoline and diesel oil produced by the refinery. Also, Coffeyville Resources Refining & Marketing does NOT own Coffeyville Resources and never has owned it. I have no idea where the editor came up with that information but it is factually incorrect. What is the source?
Moreoever, our company went public on October 22, 2007. Wiki presently states that: CVR is expected to launch its initial public offering of stock on the New York Stock Exchange later this year...This needs to be removed--its outdated/wrong.
Also, wiki states that: Coffeyville Resources is owned by CVR Energy Inc., a unit of Goldman Sachs and the Kelso Funds....CVR Energy has NEVER been a "unit" of Goldman Sachs OR Kelso Funds, and these two entities to do NOT own CVR Energy. They now own stock in CVR Energy. Plus, it is Coffeyville Acquisitions that owns a controlling interest in CVR Energy, and Coffeyville Acquisitions is, in part, a partnership of GS Capital Partners, the private equity arm of Goldman Sachs, and the private equity investment firm Kelso & Company. See the links to sources for this below.
So, it is a factual error to call our companies in any way "Coffeyville Resources" when NONE of our companies are named that. And we do not collectively refer to our companies as "Coffeyville Resources" nor do we state that anywhere on our company Web site. So, I am not sure where this is coming from. What source is Wiki listing/using?
Also, the Web site you use for Coffeyville Resources no longer exists (just click on the link to verify). So, that is factually incorrect as well and needs to be removed.
Also, if you look up "Coffeyville Resources" in the Hoover's director, for example, you will find the entry listed as "CVR Energy." That is because we are CVR Energy.
And, we are headquartered in Sugar Land, Texas. See the sources listed below for that information. We have NO headquarters in Kansas City, Kansas. We have an administrative office in KCK.
And the production numbers for our nitrogen fertilizer facility are incorrect and outdated. These numbers only come from us and can be found on our Web site, which states: In 2008, Coffeyville Resources Nitrogen Fertilizers produced 112,500 tons of ammonia available for sale, and also produced 599,200 tons of UAN.
The information Wiki has posted for Coffeyville Resources and CVR Energy is incorrect and outdated and either needs to be updated or removed. Either of these choices work. We are a public company and the information that Wiki lists is wrong and misleading and must be changed or deleted so as not to mislead anyone.
From a company profile standpoint, this is a suggested Wiki entry based on the sources listed below:
CVR Energy, Inc. refines and markets high value transportation fuels and produces nitrogen fertilizers. The company operates in two segments: Petroleum and Nitrogen Fertilizer. The Petroleum segment includes a 115,000 bpd complex full coking medium sour crude refinery in Coffeyville, Kansas. Supporting businesses include a crude oil gathering system; storage and terminal facilities for asphalt and refined fuels; a pipeline system that transports crude oil to refinery and associated crude oil storage tanks; and a rack marketing division supplying product through tanker trucks and pipelines directly to customers. The Nitrogen Fertilizer segment consists of a nitrogen fertilizer manufacturing facility in Coffeyville, Kansas, that uses a petroleum coke gasification complex to produce fertilizers. CVR Energy operates in central and southeastern Kansas, northern Oklahoma, western Missouri, eastern Colorado and southwest Nebraska, Phillipsburg. CVR Energy has more than 650 employees and was listed on the Fortune 500 list in 2009. The company posted more than $5 billion in net sales in 2008.

If Wiki chooses not to change the name of the company, update the information, then we prefer to have the entry deleted due to all the factual inaccuracies in the article.

- Previous renames: current user, target user, Queue: open req, closed req
- For global renamer: rename user

Sorry, I didn't make myself clear! You don't do it on your talk page - you need to go to Wikipedia:Changing username and carefully read the instructions there. Incidently, the user name Refined is already taken! One of the instructions of the Changing username page gives you the chance to check whether the name you want is already taken. -- PhantomSteve (Contact Me, My Contribs) 18:58, 4 November 2009 (UTC)
Ahhh, okay. Can't do that, though. Thanks Steve.CVR Energy (talk) 20:55, 4 November 2009 (UTC)
- Sorry, I'm confused - what can't you do? -- PhantomSteve (Contact Me, My Contribs) 21:02, 4 November 2009 (UTC)
Whoops! My turn for not being clear! I can't edit on any other page than my talk page, so I can't request a user name change (I think!). I got myself locked out on my first time on Wikipedia! But I am trying, though. LOL Thanks! CVR Energy (talk) 21:09, 4 November 2009 (UTC)
- I think he is indef blocked; so he can only edit on this page. —teb728 t c 21:11, 4 November 2009 (UTC)
- Of course! CVR Energy: go to the blocking notice here and follow the instructions for getting a new name and possible unblock there. Just make sure that you read it carefully - if you were to get unblocked, any future block (for violating the conditions required for the unblock) would probably be a permanent block. -- PhantomSteve (Contact Me, My Contribs) 21:37, 4 November 2009 (UTC)
Conflict of interest
editIf you are affiliated with some of the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest. In keeping with Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, edits where there is a conflict of interest, or where such a conflict might reasonably be inferred from the tone of the edit and the proximity of the editor to the subject, are strongly discouraged. If you have a conflict of interest, you should avoid or exercise great caution when:
- editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with;
- participating in deletion discussions about articles related to your organization or its competitors; and
- linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam).
Please familiarize yourself with relevant policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies.

- I have left a reply above, here -- PhantomSteve (Contact Me, My Contribs) 19:01, 4 November 2009 (UTC)
- The old article was not created by "Someone working for Wiki" but by a volunteer editor like myself. We are all volunteers here, trying to add to the sum cumulation of human knowledge gathered here at Wikipedia (not "Wiki", Wikipedia). We don't work on our own stuff: I just spent some of my lunch hour improving articles on two Republican legislators from a distant state whom I've never met (and I'm a Dem), so that the articles were longer and more factual, purely for love of history. That's how it works. You don't work on articles where you have a conflict of interest; at most, you offer fully-sourced information on the talk page of the article, disclosing your own conflict of interest when you do so. --Orange Mike | Talk 19:06, 4 November 2009 (UTC)
