DYK for List of number-one R&B singles of 2011 (U.S.)

Graeme Bartlett (talk) 00:04, 1 August 2012 (UTC)

What key is this song in?

[1] Till I Go Home 11:44, 1 August 2012 (UTC)

No idea. There's no notes on there at all. Aaron You Da One 12:01, 1 August 2012 (UTC)

Re: Hey

I told you that I would begin my classes on 13 August, but I was wrong, it'll be on 6 August. I don't know how busy I will be, so I cannot give you a precise date. Tbhotch. Grammatically incorrect? Correct it! See terms and conditions. 18:27, 2 August 2012 (UTC)

Okay, well I can begin doing some edits if you want. Aaron You Da One 18:32, 2 August 2012 (UTC)

Looking 4 Myself

Similar to Dan56's question, but the album's been out for almost 2 months. Would it be suitable to nominate Looking 4 Myself for GAN? or should I wait a bit longer? Rayman95 (talk) 00:32, 3 August 2012 (UTC)

Well several editors in the past have told me to wait several months before GAN. One editor in particular once said he didn't want any of Rihanna's Talk That Talk song articles to be nominated until she was finished with the album, yet he nominated a few of a singer's song articles a few weeks after the album dropped. That's double standards, but it is best to wait really. Aaron You Da One 09:13, 3 August 2012 (UTC)

RE:

Not happy :( It's not that its horrible, its just lukewarm, but judging from the fact that she could do SO much better and everyone has such high expectations from her, its a weak effort. Not only that, its totally not what's selling now, especially not internationally. She needed to come out with something really different and fresh, re-captivate everyone, not serve us some re-hash of 2006. Problem is that this can't be fixed. This was the comeback single. Even if they now switch it to a buzz single due to its weak reception, it still kills any element of "need to hear" or "return to music" single. Feel me? I just think I could do so much better in terms of running her management. Its very disappointing. She needs to get with big name people, and make strong POP songs, dance-y pop, and then awesome ballads. And enough with JD and B Cox already. WORK WITH NEW PEOPLE! I'm rambling now, but you get my point :) I'm guessing you feel the same way?--CallMeNathanTalk2Me 22:45, 3 August 2012 (UTC)

The remixes are MUCH better. However, she can still do much better.--CallMeNathanTalk2Me 22:57, 3 August 2012 (UTC)
Yes I really like the Vintage Throwback Remix, but even still, she could have done so much better. Its good as a remix, but not as a lead single. Let's see what happens. As for the article, yes we can keep reverting, and request semi-protection. Anyways, I plan on re-doing the whole article soon, after its made its full impact. I'm slowly collecting a lot of sources. As for the Madonna thing, no matter how bad MC's music is, she'll always be better than that hag :) (GMAYL was just so horrendous, and she didn't even write or produce it, at least MC does her own shit!)--CallMeNathanTalk2Me 16:13, 4 August 2012 (UTC)
Your misunderstanding me, possibly because I didn't elaborate. I mean take whatever you've done and add whatever I managed to find to it, not delete our work and make it mine. This is definitely a collaborative effort. We can nominate it together when the time comes :) I plan on making my return to Wiki within the next 10 days. I really want to finish the last bit of MC stuff.--CallMeNathanTalk2Me 21:55, 4 August 2012 (UTC)

FLC review

If you want to generate some reviews for your list, you can send a neutrally worded message to a relevant project or to expert reviewers for the music-related lists, asking for comments. Don't ask outwardly for supports, as that crosses the canvassing line, and don't just ask your Wiki-friends to review. As long as you avoid doing that, I don't think anyone at FLC would have a problem with a review request or two. Also, you could try reviewing another list or two and hoping that the lists' authors will reciprocate, which sometimes happens; this also reduces the competition for reviews by helping to get the other lists through FLC. Mariah Carey's 14th Album

Hi Calvin999, I was wondering (well to be honest, I was being nosey on your page :P) and saw that you created Mariah Carey's "Triumphant (Get 'Em)" page and I thought would you be interested in a joint creation of a page for her new album when we all get to hear about it? Please don't feel like I'm gonna go all "You, me, we're doing this page, if you don't like it, well tough!" I just thought with your knowledge of creating pages and me liking to add information on here I thought we could do the page together, please write back to me, either on here or on my page. Tulisa Marshall 'Click On Me 20:36, 15 August 2012 (UTC)

Hi Calvin

Hello,

Its nice to see (now im back on here). didn't realise Aaron was your real name? — Lil_niquℇ 1 [talk] 14:33, 17 August 2012 (UTC)

Lol yeah Aaron is my real name :-) Aaron You Da One 14:39, 17 August 2012 (UTC)
Cool'o. Sorry I didn't realise two different users were commenting! I've watched listed you. I've added some more information to Trouble based on what's come through. Excited would be beyond the word right now! Strangely enough I really want some new Rihanna music!... im ready for Loud (part 2) lol. — Lil_niquℇ 1 [talk] 15:02, 17 August 2012 (UTC)
Lol, I saw your edit summary saying that you was adding changing suggested by me but I didn't know I had suggested anything? I have a Leona fan friend on youtube and he sent me the leaks of Burning Down, Playground, Moutnains, Haunted and Piece of Your Heart. Some are from Echo. Aaron You Da One 15:04, 17 August 2012 (UTC)
"Mountains" is a cover of the same song by Emeli Sandé. "Burning Down" is actually a song called "Burn" recorded for Glassheart, and the other two are from Echo. — Lil_niquℇ 1 [talk] 13:08, 18 August 2012 (UTC)
I didn't like Mountains, or the two from Echo. I liked Burning Down, but apparently it's not on the album according to her. Aaron You Da One 13:20, 18 August 2012 (UTC)
Her version of "Mountains" is unfinished but I prefer Sandé's version much better. "Burning Down" is not likely to appear on the album I don't think. Shame really its a good track. Possible closing track or final single (like fifth/sixth to close the album). — Lil_niquℇ 1 [talk] 00:48, 19 August 2012 (UTC)
Urgh! I'm |--| this close to leaving again. Patrolling Glassheart and Woman to Woman is becoming a full time joB!!! — Lil_niquℇ 1 [talk] 00:08, 20 August 2012 (UTC)

List of songs recorded by Leona Lewis

Should "Mountains" be added to the list? — Lil_niquℇ 1 [talk] 14:58, 20 August 2012 (UTC)

It was in the there Unreleased written/recorded songs section but there was a dispute over the titling of the article so I removed that table and created it's own article called List of unreleased Leona Lewis songs to keep the peace. Aaron You Da One 16:50, 20 August 2012 (UTC)
Ah well i figured since its referenced and we actually know it exists and people have heard it fits right in here. But I dunno if the unreleased songs article is notable. — Lil_niquℇ 1 [talk] 18:52, 20 August 2012 (UTC)
Yeah I only removed it so that it wouldn't compromise the list, even though no one had a problem with it on List of songs recorded by Rihanna. Aaron You Da One 10:57, 21 August 2012 (UTC)

RE: Trouble

I dunno I actually really like the song. Its a grower. I need the HQ version though... radio rips never sound good. I think Gambino suits the song. I'm just so glad they didn't go with a crappy Tinie Tempah rap like R.I.P. (song). Its got potential I think. I do think it sounds like a copy of Daddy (Emeli Sandé song), like an attmept to make "Daddy" a hit by re-hashing the song. I'm gonna create the page I think, there's a plethora of information User:Lil-unique1/Sandbox/4Lil_niquℇ 1 [talk] 15:09, 21 August 2012 (UTC)

I don't know, I haven't really been impressed by any of the songs I've heard that she has recorded for the album. No stand out vocal performances. Yeah now it has premiered I think that it is okay to create it in mainspace. Aaron You Da One 15:21, 21 August 2012 (UTC)
I kind of agree.... I don't think she'll ever be able to touch "Bleeding Love" again. I think the hype of the X Factor really helped her succeed first time round but on reflect her voice/style really isn't that mainstream unlike someone like Adele. — Lil_niquℇ 1 [talk] 15:26, 21 August 2012 (UTC)
Well I'd never say never. "Yesterday", "Homeless", "Can't Breathe" and "Happy" were huge vocal performances. She worked with Darkchild who did a Mariah song I really like so I'm expecting something good there. And the Fraser written songs I'm expecting to be good. Leona is very mainstream, Adele isn't, she has just been huge in the crossover department which has made her mainstream. Aaron You Da One 15:40, 21 August 2012 (UTC)
Cheers for the heads up! I can see you point above. We'll see I guess :P — Lil_niquℇ 1 [talk] 16:02, 21 August 2012 (UTC)
Have you started a DYK? I was considering doing one maybe talking about how it was one of two songs Sandé had written for Lewis. — Lil_niquℇ 1 [talk] 16:49, 21 August 2012 (UTC)
Yeah, I listed you are the creator of it, I'm just the nominator, so you will get the normal DYK on my talk page and I'll just get the shorter nominator DYK on my talk page. It's pretty common knowledge that Sandé co-wrote those songs so I thought this would be a bit different. Aaron You Da One 16:52, 21 August 2012 (UTC)
SWEET! — Lil_niquℇ 1 [talk] 16:53, 21 August 2012 (UTC)
Also, could you add the first paragraph of Trouble's background section to that of Collide's background section? I think it would be good there. Aaron You Da One 16:55, 21 August 2012 (UTC)
Sure thing! — Lil_niquℇ 1 [talk] 17:10, 21 August 2012 (UTC)

DYK: Need You Now

I left the following comment on the nomination page. I could have checked it as good to go but for the fact that the source does not seem to support the hook exactly as written. I hope you can either point out where the source supports the exact hook, or find another more specific source, or change the hook to an alternative that is supported by the source. Donner60 (talk) 05:06, 23 August 2012 (UTC)

Comment: The source says the song was "Year-End most popular soft rock/adult pop songs, ranked by radio airplay detections" but I don't see where it was the "best selling song." It might have been the best selling song of the year in the category since it topped the chart for 15 weeks, more than any other song that year. But I think the the source must say this directly, not just imply it, in order to support the hook. Either something I have missed on the source needs to be pointed out - or another source needs to be added for this hook - or the hook needs to be changed to state it was the number one song of the year by airplay or that it was the song that topped the chart for the most weeks of the year. I am not going to be online much for the next three weeks so someone else may have to pick this up unless there is a fast response. Donner60 (talk) 05:01, 23 August 2012 (UTC)

In order to be sure this is wrapped up, please indicate on the nomination page that you accept the deletion of the words "best selling" in the sentence in the article related to the hook. Otherwise, I think this could be held up pending an answer from you. If you wish to add back the "best selling" item, I suggest that it be done in a separate sentence with a separate source. This is my full comment on the nomination page:

I give this an approved review based on the editor's acceptance of my deletion of the words "best selling" from the corresponding sentence in the article. With that deletion, the new ALT2 hook is supported by the source. "Best selling" needs to be supported by another source if it is to be added back. All other requirements are met. QPQ is done. No image. I will notify. Donner60 (talk) 22:02, 23 August 2012 (UTC)

I noted on the nomination the following in reply to your last comment:

All true. I am noting that I changed the sentence in the article so it is in line with the hook. I wanted to be sure you knew that and did not object to it. Donner60 (talk) 22:23, 24 August 2012 (UTC)

Sup buddy. So I completed my share of the article. Take a look, give it a read through (def needs a minor copy-edit) and we can send it off to a joint GA nom. We need to wait a bit longer, for some more developments etc. but I suspect soon will come the time :) (when they announce its just a "buzz" single) haha. Cheers!--CallMeNathanTalk2Me 03:04, 29 August 2012 (UTC)

Lol. It's far too early to nominate yet. Aaron You Da One 09:53, 29 August 2012 (UTC)
Didn't I just say that above...?... I asked you to take a look at it lol--CallMeNathanTalk2Me 11:56, 29 August 2012 (UTC)
Lol yeah it looks good. You said wait a bit longer, but I think we should more than a bit lol. It's only just started to impact charts and she is yet to perform live. I heard she was performing at the VMAs? AARONTALK
I mean more than that lol. Obviously can't anytime soon, it was just release 3 weeks ago. Well, live for the NFL on the 5th, but I didn't here of the VMAs. I wish she would! Hopefully, this will be her "Louboutins" and she'll come back with a real hit in January!--CallMeNathanTalk2Me 18:21, 29 August 2012 (UTC)
Must be a rumour then about the VMAs. I don't know where I heard it, maybe I made it up! Lol. There's no way she won't release anything between now and January. I reckon we will have another song by the end of the year. If she wants to do it right, she should release a few singles before American Idol and create hype, and drop the album during the live shows backed by a performance. We've seen how Nicole failed to achieve success by doing everything during X Factor in the US (flying back and forth to Europe from the US performing on shows then flying back to mentor her acts), and then she didn't even release her album there. (Although her singles were very good and her voice is amazing, I don't know why she can't achieve success without the Pussycat Dolls even though they didn't sing!) AARONTALK 21:49, 29 August 2012 (UTC)

Actually, I disagree. She should not release anything and just totally re-evaluate her plan for the album. I'm not sure if you were aware, but the album was supposed to be released this fall, but then they quickly switched it to March. Trust me, unless they are total idiots (wouldn't surprise me) they will give some time for the media to breathe, and then come back in January with a new mainstream single, and debut it live on AI and the same for the video.--CallMeNathanTalk2Me 22:15, 29 August 2012 (UTC)

I don't think she should try to promote around the world while on American Idol. Nicole tried and failed, Jennifer had success with On the Floor because of the premiere and live performance both on AI, but other singles and the album didn't do well at all. Mariah should launch in the US during AI, then promote globally after it's finished. They switched it to March in order for promotion and awareness of her being on AI, it's so obvious. AARONTALK 22:21, 29 August 2012 (UTC)
I know, that's what I said ;) I just don't know why the hell "TRMPHNT" was even released now. She should have just come out in January with a bang. Well, Nicole is a different story. If Mariah has a strong and good hit, Europe will easily pick it up. Its just, "Obsessed" wasn't released there, and then she decided to slay her album etc. with "IWTKWLI". I mean "We Belong Together" almost went #1 in the UK twice. She just needs strong material, which frankly, she hasn't had in a while :( She's been just making music she likes and thinks fans will appreciate, not global audiences.--CallMeNathanTalk2Me 22:33, 29 August 2012 (UTC)
It's just for a buzz and a "I'm still here" thing lol. Yeah TEOM was her last album with perfect material. Tbh I think out of her last three album, MC2Y is the only one which has had an authentic and defined sound with a clear distinction of what she was aiming for. The production on the songs was amazing. Out of E=MC2 and Memoirs, I liked Bye Bye, I Stay in Love, IWTKWLI, H.A.T.E.U. (amazing, underrated, didn't get the light of day, shit music video though!), Angel's Cry. That's it lol. She needs to make another Butterfly without it being a remake of Butterfly. AARONTALK 22:38, 29 August 2012 (UTC)
I don't think so Aaron. "TRMPHNT" was supposed to be her real single, and then the album was supposed to follow in October. Once it flopped, they re-evaluated things and branded it a "buzz single" and moved it to March. Honestly, girl needs to stop working with the same fucking people, and evolve. Seriously, I'm so sick of JD and B.Cox! Why was Butterfly so great? Because it was so different from what she had done. She needs to wow people, not be so fucking predicable. She could, in potential, make a TEOM sized comeback. I have no doubt. But she would need me on her team ;) Because, obviously no one there knows WTF they are doing! Time will tell! Let's hope those rumors of a Walter re-union are true! It would be awesome if she did some danc-y stuff (pop-dance, not sell-out)--CallMeNathanTalk2Me 22:48, 29 August 2012 (UTC)
I think so. It's been a while since she released music, and I doubt she would have wanted to wait from Dec 2010 to March 2013. Yeah I just want her to do big vocal songs. It's Like That, Shake It Off and Get Your Number were great dance songs, not because they had great beats because loads of singer's songs have great beats, but she combined them with standout vocals but barely any other singer in the world does. That's what sets her dance songs apart, and why the Vintage Throwback Mix is so much better than the original! AARONTALK 22:54, 29 August 2012 (UTC)

Totally agree! She could do the dance scene and still be SO different. Because, even now, is THE VOICE! BTW, great job on "Mine Again" and "Betcha", just noticed em :) If you need me to load any snippets or what not, gimme a buzz.--CallMeNathanTalk2Me 23:02, 29 August 2012 (UTC)

Even Obsessed, the final chorus had some great vocals. Thanks :-). Yeah some samples would be good please, anything which relates to anything I've said in the composition section. Maybe for the "Betcha" one where she sings about Oprah, and for "Mine Again" where she really belts out a note. AARONTALK 10:20, 30 August 2012 (UTC)

WikiCup 2012 August newsletter

The final is upon us! We are down to our final 8. A massive 573 was our lowest qualifying score; this is higher than the 150 points needed last year and the 430 needed in 2010. Even in 2009, when points were acquired for mainspace edit count in addition to audited content, 417 points secured a place. That leaves this year's WikiCup, by one measure at least, our most competitive ever. Our finalists, ordered by round 4 score, are:

  1.   Grapple X (submissions) once again finishes the round in first place, leading Pool B. Grapple X writes articles about television, and especially The X-Files and Millenium, with good articles making up the bulk of the score.
  2.   Miyagawa (submissions) led Pool A this round. Fourth-place finalist last year, Miyagawa writes on a variety of topics, and has reached the final primarily off the back of his massive number of did you knows.
  3.   Ruby2010 (submissions) was second in Pool B. Ruby2010 writes primarily on television and film, and scores primarily from good articles.
  4.   Casliber (submissions) finished third in Pool B. Casliber is something of a WikiCup veteran, having finished sixth in 2011 and fourth in 2010. Casliber writes on the natural sciences, including ornithology, botany and astronomy. Over half of Casliber's points this round were bonus points from the high-importance articles he has worked on.
  5.   Cwmhiraeth (submissions) came second in Pool A. Also writing on biology, especially marine biology, Cwmhiraeth received 390 points for one featured article (Bivalvia) and one good article (pelican), topping up with a large number of did you knows.
  6.   Muboshgu (submissions) was third in Pool A. Muboshgu writes primarily on baseball, and this round saw Muboshgu's first featured article, Derek Jeter, promoted on its fourth attempt at FAC.
  7.   Dana Boomer (submissions) was fourth in Pool A. She writes on a variety of topics, including horses, but this round also saw the high-importance lettuce reach featured article status.
  8.   Sasata (submissions) is another WikiCup veteran, having been a finalist in 2009 and 2010. He writes mostly on mycology.

However, we must also say goodbye to the eight who did not make the final, having fallen at the last hurdle:   GreatOrangePumpkin (submissions),   Ealdgyth (submissions),   Calvin999 (submissions),   Piotrus (submissions),   Toa Nidhiki05 (submissions),   12george1 (submissions),   The Bushranger (submissions) and   1111tomica (submissions). We hope to see you all next year.

On the subject of next year, a discussion has been opened here. Come and have your say about the competition, and how you'd like it to run in the future. This brainstorming will go on for some time before more focused discussions/polls are opened. As ever, if you are concerned that your nomination—whether it is at good article candidates, a featured process, or anywhere else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews. Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages or by email. Good luck! If you wish to start or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove yourself from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. Welcome to the 2012 WikiCup

Hello, and welcome to the 2012 WikiCup! The competition officially began at the start of 2012 (UTC), and so you are free to claim any content from after that time. Your submission page, where you must note any content for which you wish to claim points, can be found here, and formatting instructions can be found in hidden comments on the page. A bot will then update the main table, which can be seen on the WikiCup page. The full rules for what will and will not be awarded points can be found at Wikipedia:WikiCup/Scoring. There's also a section on that page listing the changes that have been made to the rules this year, so that experienced participants can get up-to-date in a few seconds. One point of which we must remind everyone; you may only claim points for content upon which you have done significant work, and which you have nominated, in 2012. For instance, articles written or good article reviews started in 2011 are not eligible for points.

This round will last until late February, and signups will remain open until the middle of February. If you know of anyone who may like to take part, please let them know about the comeptition; the more the merrier! At the end of this round, the top 64 scorers will progress to the next round, where their scores will reset, and they will be split into pools. Note that, by default, you have been added to our newsletter list; we will be in contact at the end of every month with news. You're welcome to remove yourself from this list if you do not wish to hear from us. Conversely, those interested in following the competition are more than welcome to add themselves to the list. Please direct any questions towards the judges, or on the WikiCup talk page. Good luck! J Milburn (talk) and The ed17 (talk) AARONTALK 11:12, 9 September 2012 (UTC)

BTW, sorry I kinda forgot about the other two snippets. What parts did you want again for "Mine Again" and "BGK"? I lost the place where you wrote it :S. Collide

This is a deviation of Template:Infobox single and is advised against. It clearly says that the "Album" field is for the name of the album, it mentions nothing of the format of the album or the edition. Thousands of albums are released as seperate versions internationally and in the US should we start deviating about which version of the album its released from? When an artist re-releases an album, e.g. Katy Perry, who released "Wide Awake" which only appears on the re-release Teenage Dream: The Complete Confection yet we say its a single from Teenage Dream. The formatting is such that it now looks like "Collide" is a single from an album called Glassheart (Deluxe). Its still the same album. Beyonce's I Am... Sasha Fierce spawned a number of singles some were only on the deluxe edition. Should we be padantic and do the same there? It just gets silly. — Lil_niquℇ 1 [talk] 17:10, 10 September 2012 (UTC)

I don't know, but you asked if this is how it is done now, and I said yes and gave you a few examples :-/ AARONTALK 17:17, 10 September 2012 (UTC)
This has never been a community consensus. This is another Beyoncé-Rihanna project related deviation. The infobox was specifically designed to contain the name of the album not its edition. What people do in the body of the article can follow specific projects but the infobox should closely match the one at Template:Infobox single. Sorry if it sounded like I was biting. TBH i wasn't suprised to see "Collide" removed from the main album. — Lil_niquℇ 1 [talk] 17:24, 10 September 2012 (UTC)
Does that mean it should be classed as the first single from Glassheart or just a single release, considering it is now a deluxe bonus track? AARONTALK 17:30, 10 September 2012 (UTC)
If it does in fact appear on the deluxe edition, its still the first single from Glassheart regardless of what the label say. The album's second single is the lead single. Lead singles are the ones which directly preceed the album's release. For example Kelly Rowland released "Commander" as Here I Am]]'s first single internationally and "Motivation" in the US. So by the time "motivation" came out she'd released three singles ("forever and a day" internationally after "Commander)" but many saw "Motivation" as the lead single as its the one directly before the album's release. Mariah Called "Obssessed" a 'summer' single and often referred to "IWTKWLI" as her first single but "Obssessed" in our eyes was the first single period. — Lil_niquℇ 1 [talk] 17:37, 10 September 2012 (UTC)
I think we should still classify "Collide" as a single from Glassheart. It was promoted as a single from the album and Lewis still performs it in the recent performances for the album. IMO its no different to when an artist releases a remixed version of a song as the single. — Lil_niquℇ 1 [talk] 13:13, 6 October 2012 (UTC)
It's not though. It's not on the album, it's clearly a single release only. It is different because for example Birthday Cake (song) remix is not on the album, there Talk That Talk is not listed in the album field. The Afrojack remix is a bonus track, but the original Collide is not on the album, so I don't see how it is a single from the album. It makes no difference that she still performs it. Yes, it was promoted as a single for when Glassheart had a Nov 11 release date, but she decided to delay and completely re-record new material. It's obviously not a single from the album now, because it's not on the album. AARONTALK 13:21, 6 October 2012 (UTC)
But at the time of its release it was considered a single from the album. It was recorded during the sessions for the album and a remix of the song appears on the album. Much in the same way that an artist might decide to release a song from an album but adds a rapper to the single release. The new version doesn't always appear on the album but its still considered a single from the album. While the track listing might choose to omit the version that was released as a single it chooses to include a version of the song that was promoted and released as a single. Therefore I would still classify it as a single from the album. If there was absolutely NO version of "Collide" on the album I would have zero hesitations in removing it! Omitting it from the track listing doesn't change the fact that it was promoted and released as a single. — Lil_niquℇ 1 [talk] 13:26, 6 October 2012 (UTC)
But we aren't at the time of release now are we, it was 13 months ago. Yes, it was promoted and released as a single, but it's not on Glassheart. The Afrojack remix, which does not have new vocals, is simply a bonus track, which was released also 13 months ago. You can't have a first single from an album if it's not on the album. She clearly doesn't associate Collide as being a single from the album, because if she did, it would be there. Like I used Birthday Cake by Rihanna as an example, Chris Brown was on the remix released as a single, but the remix is not on Talk That Talk, that's why it is a single release only. Same with S&M ft. Britney Spears. It's obvious Leona is focusing on Trouble essentially being the first single from the album. AARONTALK 13:33, 6 October 2012 (UTC)
Problem is that by comparing it to "Birthday Cake" you ignore the fact that Talk that Talk had already been out before the remix was recorded and released as a single. And tbf the "Birthday Cake (Remix)" didnt have a video, nor was it promoted with performances etc. At its time of release "Collide" was the first single from Glassheart, and the album was complete. obviously its due the performance and reception that the song recieved, its not on the album but a remix of the song is. Regardless of that matter the song is effectively still included on the album. The only difference is the production. Its been discussed before, a lead single isn't necessarily the first single from an album, its the one which directly precedes the album's release. In that respect "Collide" should still be classified the first single but "Trouble" the second and lead single. By including a version of the song on the album I will firmly stand by that it should still be referred to as a single. "Superbass" by Nicki Minaj was originally only ever a deluxe edition bonus track and yes will I agree that the version released is identical to the one on the album, at the end of the day the "Collide" remix is the same song as "Collide", just with an alternative production. — Lil_niquℇ 1 [talk] 13:44, 6 October 2012 (UTC)
It's the same principle though, "Birthday Cake" Remix ft. Chris Brown was not on the album, same with "Cockiness (Love It)" ft. ASAP Rocky. It's like Grown Woman was recorded and released as a single by Kelly Rowland during sessions for Here I Am, but it wasn't included on the album. The difference with "Superbass" is that it was recorded and included, then released as a single. AARONTALK 14:01, 6 October 2012 (UTC)
Its becoming increasing messy. In response to the album, "Grown Woman" was never included on any edition of the album, nor was any remix or version included on any album. I think one way to resolve this would be for me to move information about "Collide" on the album page to the promotion section. Though I still think that because a version of Collide appears on the album it should still be called a single from the album. As for what Leona herself says, we usually discount what the artist/label say as they frequently distance themselves from releases when they under-perform. Just think... "Like a Surgeon". What do you think? — Lil_niquℇ 1 [talk] 15:42, 11 October 2012 (UTC)
But the version of "Collide" which was released is not the on the album, and it's only a bonus track. What she said about it just being a summer song confirms that it is not an actual single from the album, but a standalone single release only non-the-less. It's obvious that "Trouble" is the first and lead single from the album. AARONTALK 16:29, 11 October 2012 (UTC)

WikiCup 2012 September newsletter

We're over half way through the final, and so it is less than a month until we know for certain our 2012 WikiCup champion.   Grapple X (submissions) currently leads, followed by   Sasata (submissions),   Cwmhiraeth (submissions) and   Casliber (submissions). However, we have no one resembling a breakaway leader, and so the competition is a long way from over. Next month's newsletter will feature a list of our winners (who are not necessarily only the finalists) and keep your eyes open for an article on the WikiCup in a future edition of The Signpost. The leaders are already on a par with last year's winners, but a long way from the huge scores seen in 2010. That said, a repeat of the competition from 2010 seems unlikely.

It is good to see that three-quarters of our finalists have already scored bonus points this round. This shows that, contrary to criticism that the WikiCup has received in the past, the competition does not merely incentivise the writing of trivial articles; instead, our top competitors are still spending their time contributing to high-importance articles, and bringing them to a high standard. This does a great service to the encyclopedia and its readers. Thank you, and good work!

The planning for next year's WikiCup is ongoing. Some straw polls have been opened concerning the scoring, and you can now sign up for next year's competition. Hey Calvin, I removed the Glassheart edition in the US because its an import release. Syco would not release its biggest label priority (alongside One Direction) in the US without having at least one single in rotation at radio. — Lil_niquℇ 1 [talk] 23:12, 4 October 2012 (UTC)

I have been recently following that article and I noted some unusual behaviours from you today on it. First, the way you treated the edits of a single IP were suboptimal and unconvincing in my opinion. Also, the information that IP was introducing worked fine and I verified that by myself, so I don't understand why do you revert an addition of the {{singlechart}} template that worked fine and is widely accepted by the Wikipedia community. Additionally, the way you came and warned the user on their talk page is incorrect, as he wasn't commiting any test edit/other-type-of-bad-or-incorrect-edit here on the 'pedia. Finally, I just beg you to be more careful with these type of things in the future. Your friend. — ΛΧΣ21 19:04, 7 October 2012 (UTC)

Someone had posted a dead link, so I put the actual link there. The the IP said "I've put the correct ref in", implying mine was wrong, which it isn't. AARONTALK 19:39, 7 October 2012 (UTC)
Actually, the link that the IP posted for the UK R&B chart is not dead. It is working. Your link is the one dead as far as i can see. — ΛΧΣ21 19:42, 7 October 2012 (UTC)
