Hey
editHey CanCanDuo, thank you for leaving the message on my page. Actually, I removed the information and then left a comment on your discussion page yesterday - but had removed it after fearing that you'd probably never see it and it was pointless lol.
Actually my reasoning was that I have read historical sources on the Vietnamese variation of the Ao Ba Ba and it doesn't coincide with the "Ao Vang", and since many countries have a variation of a pajamas costume (particularly in Asia)I thought it would be moreso fitting that Ao Vang and Cambodian costumes in general had their own article. I don't know if such an article exists or if there's even an all encompassing term which is used for the main categories of Cambodian traditional clothes.
By the way, actually from what I've read I thought the Cambodian version was a shirt worn over a skirt and a scarf. The Vietnamese Ao Ba Ba (also known as Ao Canh) is distinguished by the slits on either side, is this present in the cambodian version by any chance?
Hi Again
editIn response to your latest comment left on my page - in that case I now fully support re-adding the information about the Ao Vang on the Ao Ba Ba page - at least until either of us (or a third party) can find a good online source for the Ao Vang that would warrant its own page I suppose. It's interesting that you make the reference about the Ao Vang being almost like a collarless Ao Dai. I believe some Vietnamese people say that the Ao Ba Ba is supposed to be a casual peasant cousin of the Ao Dai. I believe some of the Vietnamese theories on its origins are: 1. It came about in the late 18th century in Southern Vietnam (this might explain about the Ao Vang) 2. It came about in the early 19th century - having been modelled after clothing that the ethnic Chinese in Malaysia wore. I'm still confused though how the two might or might not be related, even Vietnamese sources have never been very clear on its origins. Chenlomo
You might want to expand this article too. Also, many articles on khmer monarchs are missing at Khmer_empire#Timeline_of_rulers. Wikipedia:WikiProject Asian Americans might also interest you.--D-Boy 15:51, 7 January 2007 (UTC)
- Also, I don't know if you'd be interested but the cambodian and laotian section in Hinduism in Southeast Asia could use some work.--D-Boy 16:12, 7 January 2007 (UTC)
Tail
editYou added this, Unlike Thai dance costumes, Khmer dancers wear a tail around their waist to potray certain characters. That is incorrect. Thai costumes do use tails to portray Hanuman just as Cambodian costumes do. Go ahead and Google a picture of a Thai Hanuman to see. So I'm going to have to delete that, just letting you know. --Cantharellus 23:10, 20 January 2007 (UTC)
- I understand what you were saying. But they also use a tail on the Sovan Macha character. See this image: http://i16.tinypic.com/2cxu59f.jpg So please revert it back. --==Cantharellus 02:30, 21 January 2007 (UTC)
- Do you need me to show you a picture of the Thai Manora dance? They also use Kinnara tails attached to the waist. --Cantharellus 20:59, 21 January 2007 (UTC)
A Cambodian Theatre series box?
editWhat do you say? You know how some topics, such as Cuisine, has a series box. Would you think a series box for Cambodia theatre and other performing arts be appropriate? There is like a dozen or so different types of lakhaons; yike, lakhaon bassac, lakhaon robam kbach boran khmer, lakhaon niyeay, lakhaon aphei, etc. So a series box would help connect them all. --Dara 18:26, 20 February 2007 (UTC)
- But first, I think an article should be made to cover them all first. Maybe something like Cambodian Theatre or Cambodian Peforming Arts. --Dara 18:29, 20 February 2007 (UTC)
Chanrithy Him section
editHi! I'm looking for support and help for an entry on Chanrithy Him, one of my heroes (if she meets Wiki standards, of course). I have never submitted an entry as I am much better at editing existing articles and "clean ups". If you are interested just let me know! NeoApsara 06:38, 21 February 2007 (UTC)
Great Idea!
editTo set up a wikiproject for Cambodia. I've thought about this for ages but have been too lazy to do anything about it. Now I can make up for my sloth by supporting you brilliant idea! Paxse 16:51, 22 April 2007 (UTC)
Scouting in Khmer script
editCan you help render "Be Prepared", the Scout Motto, into Khmer script? Thanks! Chris 03:18, 13 August 2007 (UTC)
Replaceable fair use Image:Apsaream3.jpg
editThanks for uploading Image:Apsaream3.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the media description page and edit it to add
{{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}
, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template. - On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.
If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Calliopejen1 (talk) 01:50, 14 February 2008 (UTC)

Indianized kingdom
editI see you have a history of working on the article Indianized kingdom. I am looking at it from the project Wikipedia:Unreferenced articles where it is one of the longest {{unreferenced}} tagged articles that does not meet at least the barest minimum of verifiability. It has been tagged and completely without references since June 2006. It would be extremely helpful if you had some references you could add to the article to help support its verifiability and notability. Thanks for any help you can give.
