Hello, Carolina2k22!
Having an article declined at Articles for Creation can be disappointing. If you are wondering why your article submission was declined, please post a question at the Articles for creation help desk. If you have any other questions about your editing experience, we'd love to help you at the Teahouse, a friendly space on Wikipedia where experienced editors lend a hand to help new editors like yourself! - @Carolina2k22 and Cassiopeia: I must admit I that initially surprised that this draft had not been accepted, until I looked up WP:SCHOOLOUTCOMES. Up until the 2017 "Request for comment" (RFC), any secondary schools that were at upper secondary level "were assumed notable unless sources could not be found to prove existence". In this Stuff (website) article a former principal of the school describes it as
- one of 68 full te reo schools in New Zealand, but only one of five in the South Island
- Stuff identifies that article as "paid content"
- Carolina2k22m - could you possibly find and add other references from reliable sources that are independent of the subject to that draft?

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Batman (serial), you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Super 8. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Original Dixieland Jass Band
"However, many historians and average Americans, who know the very accurate history of jazz, know that ODJB were not the first musicians to create jazz. There were other jazz musicians (Buddy Bolden and his band being among the very first) to create and perform jazz music in the 19th century (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buddy_Bolden#Musical_career) before its' first initial recordings were released to the public later throughout the 20th century".:
Your message that you sent to me was very understandable. And since I had no knowledge that you were and still are the owner of this page, I will not make any changes. However, you might want to be careful about telling half of the truth about jazz music in the near future in which you tell both sides. Buddy Bolden was among one of the first to do jazz music and the ODJB band, who came out of Papa Jack Laines' mixed-race marching band, were influenced by both African and European roots of music. I have serious issue about wikipedia, org, in which they are known to tell some accurate truths but also spread untruths for there own satisfaction — Preceding unsigned comment added by Blackhistorianoftruthtelling (talk • contribs) 13:29, 25 September 2020 (UTC)

Assistance Request
Hello Carolina2k22. Thank you for your review of the article on Hans Albert Hohnfeldt. I appreciate your input and suggestions. However, I note that the title of the article is mistakenly spelled as Honfeldt, not Hohnfeldt (though it is spelled correctly throughout the article). I don't know how to correct this, as the "edit source" button does not seem to bring up the title. Can you get this corrected? The article will not link to any other articles that have his name spelled correctly. Thank you for any assistance you can provide. Historybuff0105 (talk) 01:42, 9 November 2020 (UTC)

Page Marked for Speedy Deletion, Streetsound
Hi there you approved my entry for Streetsound yesterday - thank you for doing that! Unfortunately it seems i woke this morning to find the page marked for speedy deletion- and it appears to be gone, i was not event able to appeal the decision. The issues stems from me also posting the wiki article on the streetsound magazine archive site -which I am also the publisher of. I had posted the article on my site since it looked like my wiki article was never going to be approved. I have now updated the streetsound magazine site to point to the wiki history. I'm hopeful for a speedy restoration of my entry. I've included a link to the streetsound website which now will hopefully point back to the wiki https://streetsoundmagzine.com/history. I guess I'm just asking for some advice on what i can do ? thanks in advance ..Chris Chris Torella Ctorella 19:41, 21 November 2020 (UTC)

Hypocrisy example
Hi my addition to the hypocrisy article was rejected. I believe there is no reason to reject it, given that there is no subjectivity about my addition to the article being an example of hypocrisy. The MW definition is "behavior that contradicts what one claims to believe or feel." You shall, remove this message at one and apologize. You placed "rapist" in the shortdesc of an article, and then slap a final warning on my talk page? This is highly irregular. Pikavoom (talk) 08:28, 6 October 2020 (UTC)

- You slapped a level 4 only and final warning on my page, you bet I am demanding. Redwarn is a dangerous tool, you shouldn't use it, and if you do you are responsible for the results. Did Redwarn default to level 4, or did you set that level yourself? Pikavoom (talk) 08:37, 6 October 2020 (UTC)
- I used 4im as the original vandalism was severely defamatory. Also, RedWarn isn't dangerous, I just made a mistake in it saying the page had updated and warned you. I immediately removed the warning I gave to you unintentionally and you had already reverted my revert. Simple misunderstanding. Think before you leave a message like this on peoples talk pages. - RedWarn is a dangerous tool. Reverting through it error prone, and what is even more error prone is that you are sending user warnings without even looking at the user you are warning. When I send a warning, after I revert with Twinkle, I do so after I study the user talk page and the user itself. I would not sent a level-4 final warning without even looking at the user (but just at the diff). My two cents, if you continue using RedWarn, you'll probably end up with similar edits. Anyone, I said m piece. Pikavoom (talk) 08:48, 6 October 2020 (UTC)

Rollback granted
Hi Carolina2k22. After reviewing your request for "rollbacker", I have temporarily enabled rollback on your account until 2020-12-05. Keep in mind these things when going to use rollback:
- Getting rollback is no more momentous than installing Twinkle.
- Rollback should be used to revert clear cases of vandalism only, and not good faith edits.
- Rollback should never be used to edit war.
- If abused, rollback rights can be revoked.
- Use common sense.
If you no longer want rollback, contact me and I'll remove it. Also, for some more information on how to use rollback, see Wikipedia:Administrators' guide/Rollback (even though you're not an admin). I'm sure you'll do great with rollback, but feel free to leave me a message on my talk page if you run into troubles or have any questions about appropriate/inappropriate use of rollback. Thank you for helping to reduce vandalism. Happy editing! Anarchyte (talk • work) 11:22, 7 October 2020 (UTC)

Clive Thomas Draft
Thanks for reviewing this draft. I've put a citation for the award list and the book list. The listings come from news articles and his profile on the Uni website- so I'm not terribly invested in their importance... it's more of a "all the other econ articles have it" thing, haha. If it would be better to fit them in the article prose I can give that a shot too, since I've found another good biographical source for Thompson. I'll be fussing with the article soon, I just wanted to acknowledge your note. Cheers, Estheim (talk) 06:55, 5 December 2020 (UTC)
- Kindly looking forward to any feedback, thanks Estheim (talk) 15:46, 17 December 2020 (UTC)
- Thanks for the accept and copy-edit spit shine. If you're interested, I also have an AFC draft called Draft:Banking in Guyana which is very much in the same topic of interest. I know it sounds SUPER boring, but it's not a highly complex industry, and I approached it from a more consumer-interest standpoint than macroeconomic one. If there's any conflict for AFC (since begging for AFC accepts is like, the most distasteful thing) I'd still highly appreciate any advice for improvement/copy-editing. Cheers, Estheim (talk) 19:36, 18 December 2020 (UTC)
NPR request follow up
Since you asked for examples of AfC decisions that I disagreed with, here are a few that stood out:
- Black Dreams, which is almost certainly about to be deleted, either due to the WP:A9 tag that was added to it or as a result of the ongoing Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Black Dreams (2nd nomination)
- Streetsound, which has both copyvio issues and a very clear COI for the primary editor
- Caroline Winnett, which has some egregiously promotional language towards the end. The subject may indeed be notable, but we should err on the side of strictness for BLPs, particularly BLPs of business executives, because the ratio of submissions from paid or COI editors to good-faith contributions is very high for these subjects.

Manny Greenhill rejection questions
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Mendel_Greenberg
Submission declined on 7 November 2020 by Carolina2k22
Article does not meet WP:MOS. There are lots of issues - from the name being `Manny' to multiple links to disambiguation pages.
Comment: Forgot to specify in my decline reason: The issue with the lack of inline citations does also still exist.
The following is a response to the above.
Mendel Greenberg legally changed his name to Manuel Greenhill but was known throughout his adult life, both professionally and personally, by the first name Manny. He is remembered as such by his family, friends and associates. This is confirmed by the recollection of The Weavers manager (and Greenhill’s contemporary) Harold Leventhal, quoted in my entry: “And our sources were guys like Manny Greenhill…” Wikipedia does not appear to have a policy of rejecting entries for individuals who were best known by unconventional first names or nicknames, as witnessed by entries for Babe Ruth, Muddy Waters, Lucky Luciano, Snoop Dogg, etc. Why the exception here?
Wikipedia: `Disambiguation in Wikipedia is the process of resolving the conflicts that occur when articles about two or more different topics could have the same "natural" page title. This category contains disambiguation pages: non-article pages containing links to other Wikipedia articles and disambiguation pages.’ My entry’s rejection on account of `multiple links to disambiguation pages’ is confusing on a couple of counts. If I understand a `disambiguation page’ to be an online source linked from the body of an entry, I had the impression such links were encouraged to both establish the subject’s credibility and to help readers gain a fuller understanding of the subject’s milieu. The entry as I submitted it did have `multiple links to disambiguation pages,’ if I understand what they are, but so does the Wikipedia entry for Greenhill’s star client Joan Baez and hundreds of others. However, the iteration of what I submitted that appears in Wikitia has all the links removed (not by me).
I fail to see the point in that, just as I fail to understand the links as submitted being grounds for the entry’s rejection. (But I also never submitted an entry for Mendel Greenberg, a name by which no one would be seeking information on Manny Greenhill.) Kindly help me understand why `multiple links to disambiguation pages’ are grounds for rejection. Wikipedia: `On Wikipedia, an inline citation refers to a citation in a page's text placed by any method that allows the reader to associate a given bit of material with specific reliable source(s) that support it. The most common methods are numbered footnotes and parenthetical citations within the text, but other forms are also used on occasion.’ There are a dozen inline citations in my entry. By comparison the Wikipedia entry for the arguably better-known impresario George Wein offers only 10 inline citations. Is there a new minimum requirement? What is it?
Carolina2k22 cites `lots of issues’ before noting two and later adding a third. `Lots of issues’ is vague and potentially capricious, inviting rejection for any reason or no reason at all. Are there other specific grounds on which this entry may be rejected in future? If so, please clearly specify what they are. Thank you. Vexton (talk) 18:30, 29 December 2020 (UTC)
- I stated that `Manny' was a problem, as in the ` you used for the opening quotation. Also, I explained the issues, you have links to disambiguation pages and there is not enough inline citations either. You can re-use inline citations, on the article the first paragraph in the Biography section is completely uncited. Carolina2k22 • (talk) • (contribs) 22:52, 29 December 2020 (UTC)

- Following a Request for Comment the Book namespace was deprecated.
- Wikimedia previously used the IRC network Freenode. However, due to changes over who controlled the network with reports of a forceful takeover by several ex-staff members, the Wikimedia IRC Group Contacts decided to move to the new Libera Chat network. It has been reported that Wikimedia related channels on Freenode have been forcibly taken over if they pointed members to Libera. There is a migration guide and Wikimedia discussions about this.
- After a Clarification request, the Arbitration Committee modified Remedy 5 of the Antisemitism in Poland case. - Consensus has been reached to delete all books in the book namespace. There was rough consensus that the deleted books should still be available on request at WP:REFUND even after the namespace is removed.
- An RfC is open to discuss the next steps following a trial which automatically applied pending changes to TFAs.
- IP addresses of unregistered users are to be hidden from everyone. There is a rough draft of how IP addresses may be shown to users who need to see them. This currently details allowing administrators, checkusers, stewards and those with a new usergroup to view the full IP address of unregistered users. Editors with at least 500 edits and an account over a year old will be able to see all but the end of the IP address in the proposal. The ability to see the IP addresses hidden behind the mask would be dependent on agreeing to not share the parts of the IP address they can see with those who do not have access to the same information. Accessing part of or the full IP address of a masked editor would also be logged. Comments on the draft are being welcomed at the talk page.
- The community authorised COVID-19 general sanctions have been superseded by the COVID-19 discretionary sanctions following a motion at a case request. Alerts given and sanctions placed under the community authorised general sanctions are now considered alerts for and sanctions under the new discretionary sanctions.

Manny Greenhill entry
I was looking for a Wikipedia entry about Manny Greenhill, whom I wrote about in my biography of Josh White, my book "Dylan Goes Electric," and elsewhere -- he was a very significant figure in the US folk revival, sponsoring concerts by Pete Seeger during the blacklist, shepherding Joan Baez's career from the beginning, and working as a manager for many important artists on the Boston/Cambridge folk scene.
I noticed that there is a rejected entry for him under his birth name, Mendel Greenberg" (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Mendel_Greenberg) and that you were the most recent editor to reject it, in part because it referred to him as "Manny". There may be other good reasons to decline this draft article, but that is not one of them. Manny Greenhill was his professional name throughout his career, is the way he is consistently named in dozens of books about the US folk revival, and is how anyone who wants to learn about him would look for him.

About Quevedos
Hello, today I've seen a message in my talk page about edits I supposedly made to the page Quevedos (currently still vandalized) in the 20th of September, 2020. I didn't do it and would like to understand what this is about and was hoping that maybe you could help me.
1) Was the edit really made on the 20th of September, 2020 ? If so, why did this message only show up now ?
2) The page says 'mobile edit': Does this imply that a phone using this IP has been hacked or perhaps that someone with access to the local network did it maliciously (as a joke, I suppose) ?

New (better) userbox?
I'm among those who have put the existing "Carpenter" userbox on their user page. This is the box:
This user is a carpenter. |
As a concept, it's not so bad. But it shifts through several images, a couple of which are not apt. It shows a hammer, but it's a ball-peen hammer (typically a mechanic's tool, not one used so frequently by a carpenter). The better image would be a claw hammer. It also features an image of wood mallets, and another of what appear to be carving tools, which are probably carried by a small minority of carpenters, being only used for artistic work or decorative touches. The tools shown that are most relatable to a carpenter's day are the chalk line, in the red casing, and the pencil.
I wonder if you'd be willing to make a better userbox for this hobby or profession? Appropriate image(s) could be the claw hammer, a hand-held electric circular saw, a tape measure, a builder's square... etc. These would be in frequent use by either a professional or amateur carpenter.
Thanks for considering this.Joel Russ (talk) 14:04, 5 December 2021 (UTC)

Hello! Voting in the 2022 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 12 December 2022. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

Because Ethamn's talk page happened to still be on my watchlist, I saw your decision to decline their 22 November submission of Draft:Robert Kasun for a move to the main space. While the version you reviewed was sparse and exclusively cited sources immediately associated with Kasun or of a quality not high enough to contribute to WP:GNG and WP:RS standards, I have expanded and modified the article. My intention is to move the article to the main space with my additions, but wanted to ensure that you could give the draft a quick once-over before doing so. I stand by the current article and believe it presently meets WP:GNG, WP:BLP, and WP:RS standards despite the obvious but not exclusive reliance on Catholic-focused and non-independent media. ~ Pbritti (talk) 17:57, 16 December 2022 (UTC)

Draft: Alan Barnard
Hi @Carolina2k22 I've been editing back and forth for about 5 months now, and I've made a lot of changes. Can you please give me specific guidance on which resources is the problem? I removed sources from Medium and PR newswire as well as all sources from TOCICO, Goldratt and any resources that may not be independent as requested. The resources worth keeping according to @TipsyElephant are the awards and interviews on issuu. Please help. Karini.goosen (talk) 08:42, 19 December 2022 (UTC)
- I'm really sorry about this. The main issue is more so around notability (which also direct connects with the citations). I'm not entirely convinced he has had significant coverage in reliable secondary sources independent of himself. A lot of the sources are also still not particularly independent of him either, which is why I ended up declining per the same reason since, while the content had been changed a little, the core issues still remained. Wikipedia page denied 2x
My wikipedia page has been denied twice. The main reason I'm given is that the subject, Dr. Ralph Dacey, does not qualify because of the guidelines for notability. Yet, when I look up those guidelines "academics" is a guideline. I'm truly baffled by this. In the neurosurgery world, Dr. Dacey is an international presence and I believe the articles I cite in his bio reflect that. Any help you can provide would be great, but please don't point me back to the notatbility guidelines. Courtneykchazen (talk) 18:01, 11 January 2023 (UTC)
- @Courtneykchazen The WP:ACADEMIC guideline isn't purely that the person is an academic, it entails a broader amount of requirements within it. It is its own requirement. When searching online I don't find too much independent sources of Dr. Ralph Dacey. This could be because of my region which is partly why we rely on the draft article as well.
- The article in its current form lacks a substantial number of citations so verifiability cannot be established. An example is his birth year, there are no citations for that. If you're willing to correct errors, I'm sure another editor will be able to review the draft in more depth. But as it is currently, it cannot be accepted. Reject of Montreal declaration on animal exploitation
Hello, My draft https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Clkluigi#Your_submission_at_Articles_for_creation%3A_Montreal_declaration_on_animal_exploitation_%28January_5%29 has been refused. The reasons for the refusal are clear in themselves, but I don't see how to apply them. I felt I had sourced everything correctly and the peacock terms are quotes in sections dedicated to feedback, which seem balanced to me. Could you help me correct this article ? Should I delete the "reactions" section? Thanks in advance for sharing your expertise. I asked here but received no answer. Clkluigi (talk) 18:35, 14 January 2023 (UTC)
- @Clkluigi I'll have a better look at it, and I'll help improve the article myself over the next few days; then we can resubmit it. Carolina2k22 • (talk) • (edits) 01:23, 15 January 2023 (UTC)
DYK for Make It 16 Incorporated v Attorney-General
On 22 January 2023, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Make It 16 Incorporated v Attorney-General, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that in November 2022 the Supreme Court of New Zealand ruled that the voting age of 18 was unjustified age discrimination in Make It 16 Incorporated v Attorney-General? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Make It 16 Incorporated v Attorney-General. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Make It 16 Incorporated v Attorney-General), and the hook may be added to the statistics page after its run on the Main Page has completed. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.
Your contributions
Just a quick note that you’ll probably see me on your watchlist as I’ve just checked your contributions. I see very solid work; well done! I had a look because whilst the Make it 16 is a solid piece of work written by a fellow Kiwi, your user name has only recently appeared on my radar. Hence my interest. I checked contributions with a view of possibly assigning autopatrolled but you are too far from the numerical threshold of 25 new articles. Are you aware of WP:DYK? I suggest that you nominate the Make it 16 article. Schwede66 19:57, 2 January 2023 (UTC)
- Kia ora and thank you, I appreciate it! I have heard of WP:DYK but hadn't looked much into it. I've nominated it now at Template:Did you know nominations/Make It 16 Incorporated v Attorney-General. I'm definitely quite a bit away from needing/being suitable for autopatrolled, but I am looking to do a lot more work wrt law in NZ (and encourage others interested to do so as well, hence my recent discussion on WT:NZ).
- Thank you again! Carolina2k22 • (talk) • (edits) 02:31, 3 January 2023 (UTC)
- Are you coming to the Wellington WikiCon? If that's not on your agenda yet, can I encourage you to give this some consideration? Attendees of the two previous WikiCons got a lot of of them. Schwede66 03:12, 24 January 2023 (UTC)
- Thank you for mentioning this, I've thought about it a little bit and I'm not entirely sure. I'll definitely keep it under consideration for the next couple weeks. Carolina2k22 • (talk) • (edits) 03:56, 24 January 2023 (UTC)
- It's really worthwhile. If dollars is an issue, I think there are scholarships available. Schwede66 06:31, 24 January 2023 (UTC)

November Articles for creation backlog drive
Hello Carolina2k22:
WikiProject Articles for creation is holding a month long Backlog Drive!

You may find Category:AfC pending submissions by age or other categories and sorting helpful.
Barnstars will be given out as awards at the end of the drive.
Invitation to an in-person meetup in Mohua / Golden Bay
Thinking about your summer break? Think about joining other Wikipedians and Wikimedians in Golden Bay / Mohua! Details are on the meetup page. There's heaps of interesting stuff to work on e.g. the oldest extant waka or New Zealand's oldest ongoing legal case. Or you may spend your time taking photos and then upload them.
Golden Bay is hard to get to and the airline flying into Tākaka uses small planes, so we are holding some seats from and to Wellington and we are offering attendees a $200 travel subsidy to help with costs.
Be in touch with Schwede66 if this event interests you and you'd like to discuss logistics. Schwede66 09:14, 13 November 2023 (UTC)
