{{helpme}}

2 questions: 1) I did not add the copyright information for an image I loaded - how do I add that information? 2) how do I edit categories? I.e. companies founded in 1946, etc. When I go to edit the page, I edit one small line of text that starts with CATEGORY, but no actual information to edit.

Thanks.

  1. You can edit the image description page by editing Image:WscuLOGO.png (if you're referring to that image). To help write the copyright in a standard form, see Wikipedia:Image copyright tags.
  2. To add an article to a category, edit the article and put a link to the category at the bottom (for instance, write [[Category:Living people]]). The link will turn into an entry in the 'categories' section of the article and an entry in the category itself.
Hope that helps; put {{helpme}} back up if you have any further questions. --ais523 08:53, 15 February 2007 (UTC)

{{helpme}}

I have added copyright information for WscuLOGO.png - I'm not sure if I've done it correctly, and don't want the image to be deleted. Can you please confirm that the rationale I have provided under the Fair Use agreement is applicable for this particular use of the image?

Thanks.

They look fine (they're already better than a lot of Fair Use rationales). One problem is that the article that the image is meant to be in has been deleted ([1]), and fair-use images are deleted if they aren't in any article (because the fair-use rationale can only apply to one article). I suggest that you contact Yamla, the deleting administrator, on User talk:Yamla, to discuss this situation. You might also want to read Wikipedia:Conflict of interest, for information about the guidelines which were used as a reason to delete the article. (Whether this deletion was correct or not would depend on the details of the situation, which I don't know and can't access because I'm not an administrator, so I can't help much more in this respect). Hope that helps! --ais523 16:47, 15 February 2007 (UTC)

Page Deletion

edit

You asked: "Can I ask why my page on Westminster Savings Credit Union was deleted?

The page was a conflict of interest. Please see WP:COI. --Yamla 17:24, 15 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Thanks Yamla,
What elements on that page can I change to make it acceptable to Wikipedia? I see Wikipedia articles on numerous local credit unions, all of which are allowed to exist. Example: Vancity

What evidence do you have that Vancity was created by an employee of that company? I cannot find any evidence on this. As to Westminster Savings Credit Union, I understand that you are an employee of that company. As such, it is a conflict of interest for you to create this page or to cause someone else to create the page. The problem isn't with the contents of the page, it is with the conflict of interest. --Yamla 17:50, 15 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

You said: "As per above, I made no inferrence about the article on Vancity being written by an employee of that company, I simply used them as an example as they are a similar business to ours. One last question about the conflict of interest: would it be a conflict of interest to write or contribute to an article about the city/province/country in which you live because you are a resident of said city/province/country? Or does this rule only exist as it pertains to a company? I don't ask this to be argumentative, I just want to understand the rules for future use of Wikipedia."

Vancity is allowed to exist because there's no evidence there was a conflict of interest there. There's no reason I can see that we couldn't have an article on Westminster Savings Credit Union but you cannot create it or cause it to be created. As to your other questions, please read WP:COI, they are all answered there. --Yamla 18:15, 15 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned fair use image (Image:WscuLOGO.png)

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:WscuLOGO.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Fritz S. (Talk) 19:19, 27 March 2007 (UTC)Reply
