Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Balıklı Greek Hospital, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Pera (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Replaceable fair use File:HalilMutlu.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading File:HalilMutlu.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that this media item is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails the first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media item could be found or created that provides substantially the same information or which could be adequately covered with text alone. If you believe this media item is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the file discussion page, write the reason why this media item is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. VernoWhitney (talk) 06:41, 23 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

Coordinates

edit

I see that you have changed the coordinates I've given in the infobox of Kandilli Observatory. I think it's a habit of yours to change every detail I've editted. OK but where have you found these decimal figıure coordinates ? They are not equivalent to minute second figures I've entered.(41 ° 03 ' 48 is equal to 41. 0633 and not 41.0732) One thing more, your rationale is "wikieditted". Is there a rule to prefer decimal values in coordinates ? Thanks. Nedim Ardoğa (talk) 19:07, 23 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

The coords you have put were not pointing out to the correct location. That's why the change, nothing else. On the other hand, there is no difference in giving the coords in decimals or degrees, minutes etc. By the way, it is not my habit to change "every" detail you have edited. My habit is to improve Turkey related articles, not only yours. I see with great pleasure when wikipedians improve articles I created or edited. Cheers. CeeGee 09:41, 24 January 2013 (UTC)

Turkish women

edit

Women in Turkey maddesinin cok olumsuz oldugunu görünce onun gelistirilmesine ve Women in Turkish Parliament maddesinin acilmasina ben önayak oldum. (Bravo hepimize!) Umarim burayi Nedim Bey ve Rapsar da okur... Sevgiler. --E4024 (talk) 11:57, 2 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

BTW, speaking about Turkish women and politics I remember having read a very good article the other day in "Radikal" about the Turkish women's equality struggle before and during the Turkish Revolution on how they challenged and "forced" our founding fathers for voting rights. I would certainly like to use that info in these areas, although I have a difficulty finding the text now, as well as another report on the high level of women presence in higher echelons of Turkish corporate business, in comparison to some EU countries like even Germany. --E4024 (talk) 13:11, 2 February 2013 (UTC)Reply
I see. Unfortunately, currently I am busy on articles about Turkish UAV's to be created shortly. Sorry, maybe I can help next time. CeeGee 13:20, 2 February 2013 (UTC)

Women in Turkish Parliament/Politics

edit

Parlamento üyesi olmasa da 12 Eylül öncesi politikacilardan Türkiye Ulusal Kadinlar Partisi genel baskanini da bulabilirseniz bu listeye eklemekte yarar var. Tesekkürler. --E4024 (talk) 12:00, 2 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

Check pls Nasıl bir 'parti' bakmıştınız! @Radikal. CeeGee 12:16, 2 February 2013 (UTC)
I was only asking for names to add to a list; not to make an article for each and every "political leader". You know, Turkey is not the only country which has a large cemetery of political parties. (See list at the TBMM official website.) Thanks again and selamlar. --E4024 (talk) 13:02, 2 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

Call for contribution

edit

Hi, User:E4024 who has started a page titled Turkish women in sports asks for contributions. At the moment the page is almost empty. But I remember you have created many pages about Turkish sports people. Maybe you can be interested in the page. Cheers.Nedim Ardoğa (talk) 21:00, 7 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for the invitation. I have already rearranged the related categories so that it must be easier to locate articles needed. I will do my best as I did always in the past. However, before starting a comprehensive issue like this, I recommend to go further with the article "Turkish women in politics". CeeGee 14:29, 8 February 2013 (UTC)

Turkish Army

edit

Apologies, I've just had to rollback your edit. In accordance with WP:MILMOS#UNITNAME, we stick to national conventions with units, thus Turkish corps are '2nd' rather than II. Otherwise fine. Buckshot06 (talk) 08:12, 19 March 2013 (UTC)Reply

Hi Buckshot06! Are we sure that this is the case? In the literature, we meet both. Is there an official nomenclature for the Turkish army I can refer? Thank you for your efforts. CeeGee 08:21, 19 March 2013 (UTC)Reply
Try every modern Turkish reference, most easily, the Tuwiki articles. I'll find you a random link. Buckshot06 (talk) 08:30, 19 March 2013 (UTC)Reply
Wow. I should be thanking you for the expansion of my 3rd Corps (Turkey) stub. For 3 Corps/HRF, http://forum.donanimhaber.com/m_19587257/mpage_3/tm.htm. What's your source for the units of 3 Corps? Buckshot06 (talk) 08:34, 19 March 2013 (UTC)Reply
Dear Buckshot06! First of all, we don't own the articles we started. Maybe you wanted to say or I hope you mean "for the expansion of the stub article 3rd Corps (Turkey) I created" instead of "for the expansion of my 3rd Corps (Turkey) stub". However, you are welcome. Secondly, the source http://forum.donanimhaber.com/m_19587257/mpage_3/tm.htm you mention is nothing else than a forum on some conversation of young guys asking and responding about the conditions at the military units they are going to join. I am not ready to accept designations of people (in this case the people writing the forum), who were not even on military ground. I don't know whether you have knowledge of Turkish language. Anyway, I wish you can name me reliable sources. CeeGee 16:44, 19 March 2013 (UTC)
Of course we don't WP:OWN the articles we start. Merely a choice of words, possibly indicating my expectation that no one would touch that article for years. I'm very very happy you did. I'm well aware that the thing was a forum. Please take a look at the official links off Turkish Army and the 2008 formations page, and you'll find something sooner or later. I will also take a good look myself. Meanwhile, could you indicate the source for the unit assignments, or point me to a good source either online in Turkish or offline in Turkish? Cheers Buckshot06 (talk) 17:45, 19 March 2013 (UTC)Reply
Thank you for creating the corps and brigade categories - sometimes I feel that nobody but me does this sort of thing. Would you like to work together with me on creating/translating a few more important corps, maybe 1st Corps (Turkey) and 2nd Corps (Turkey) for starters? User:Takabeg, also a Turk, maybe willing to help. Buckshot06 (talk) 05:39, 20 March 2013 (UTC)Reply
Buckshot06 thank you for the invitation. I'll do what I can. I prefer to expand and improve if necessary. CeeGee 06:36, 20 March 2013 (UTC)Reply

I am not sure what you mean with "approval of page creation". Do you mean to create your own user page or to create a new article? Anyway, no approval is carried out at all. However, some different rules apply to both: user may not be e.g. a sockpuppet, and articles must at least have notability and reliable sources. I assume the same rules apply in interwiki:tr. I hope I could make a little bit clear. Pls, do not hesitate to contact me again if further questions arise. Happy wikiediting. CeeGee 17:24, 14 April 2013 (UTC)

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. Turkish Underwater Sports Federation

edit

Hi CeeGee, Thanks for preparing the article about the Turkish Underwater Sports Federation. However, I am wondering if it would have been more appropriate to use the name Türkiye Sualtı Sporları Federasyonu for the title of the article. There are precedents such as Confédération Mondiale des Activités Subaquatiques; I personally use this Confédération Mondiale des Activités Subaquatiques rather than calling it the World Underwater Federation. What is the usual in your part of the world? Regards Cowdy001 (talk) 20:40, 19 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

Hi Cowdy001! Thanks for your comment. I created the article under English naming because all other Turkish sports federation articles in en:WP are titled in English. I notice that the French and Spanish underwater sports federations are found in their native language. Maybe it is time to start also for naming the Turkish ones with their original title. I guess just a little redirect would do it in the beginning. Do you agree? Cheers. CeeGee 05:09, 20 June 2013 (UTC)

Wikipedia:Bare URLs

edit

No, those were not Wikipedia:Bare URLs. What you did seems to contradict Wikipedia:CITE#Citation_style. Podiaebba (talk) 06:44, 21 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

What meant was the use of full citations. Pls, check your above reference again. Thanks. BTW, your efforts on WPTR are much appreciated. Cheers. CeeGee 07:48, 21 June 2013 (UTC)
What makes a citation "full"? What was there was not "bare urls", and the Wikipedia:CITE#Citation_style says not to change styles unnecessarily, which as far as I can see means that people shouldn't come along and introduce those horrible, unreadable cite templates when the article hasn't used them before. Podiaebba (talk) 12:39, 21 June 2013 (UTC)Reply
What CeeGee did is apsolutely within policy - please see Wikipedia:Bare URLs and Wikipedia:Link rot. Mdann52 (talk) 12:44, 21 June 2013 (UTC)Reply
Yes, people keep pointing me at Wikipedia:Bare URLs - so I read it again, and it still doesn't make the definition of "bare url" cover what was in Nurol Holding. Podiaebba (talk) 13:03, 21 June 2013 (UTC)Reply
Hi Podiaebba! I cannot understand what bothers you. I see that sometimes it's difficult for new-Wikipedians to understand what WP rules say. Firstly, what I did was not against the rules moreover an improvement, and secondly you aren't allowed to own articles you created. Pls, stop to comment on this issue further, because it's only time wasting for me. Thank you and cheers. CeeGee 19:21, 21 June 2013 (UTC)
So you can't or won't explain why what was there before meets the definition of "bare url"? you're just going to say, in effect, "talk to the hand"?? Podiaebba (talk) 20:02, 21 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

TemplateData is here

edit

Hey CeeGee

I'm sending you this because you've made quite a few edits to the template namespace in the past couple of months. If I've got this wrong, or if I haven't but you're not interested in my request, don't worry; this is the only notice I'm sending out on the subject :).

So, as you know (or should know - we sent out a centralnotice and several watchlist notices) we're planning to deploy the VisualEditor on Monday, 1 July, as the default editor. For those of us who prefer markup editing, fear not; we'll still be able to use the markup editor, which isn't going anywhere.

What's important here, though, is that the VisualEditor features an interactive template inspector; you click an icon on a template and it shows you the parameters, the contents of those fields, and human-readable parameter names, along with descriptions of what each parameter does. Personally, I find this pretty awesome, and from Monday it's going to be heavily used, since, as said, the VisualEditor will become the default.

The thing that generates the human-readable names and descriptions is a small JSON data structure, loaded through an extension called TemplateData. I'm reaching out to you in the hopes that you'd be willing and able to put some time into adding TemplateData to high-profile templates. It's pretty easy to understand (heck, if I can write it, anyone can) and you can find a guide here, along with a list of prominent templates, although I suspect we can all hazard a guess as to high-profile templates that would benefit from this. Hopefully you're willing to give it a try; the more TemplateData sections get added, the better the interface can be. If you run into any problems, drop a note on the Feedback page.

Thanks, Okeyes (WMF) (talk) 21:59, 28 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

List of chess grandmasters

edit

Hello. List of chess grandmasters indeed only for players who have been awarded the Grandmaster title, whether male or female. Woman Grandmaster (WGM) is a different title, and there are many WGMs not on the list. In fact we don't currently have a list for WGMs at all, although the WGM biography pages we have can be found in Category:Chess woman grandmasters. I haven't thoroughly reviewed the list of GMs recently and there are many issues with it that I think make it very difficult to maintain in its current format. I have some ideas how this could be improved. I mentioned some of the on Talk:List of chess grandmasters a few years ago, but I never completed the work.

Thanks for your work on Turkish biographies including those of chess players. We don't have many (if any at all) people active in the chess project who can read Turkish, so it's a huge help. And of course we don't always take best advantage of even the English-language sources available either. Quale (talk) 21:52, 17 July 2013 (UTC)Reply

Yes, I'd also like to thank you for your work on Turkish chess entries. Articles relating to women chess players are lagging behind the male entries here on Wikipedia and so can be especially valuable. One thing I would add to the above discussion is that there is also a List of female chess players article. This starts with sections for women who have the (full) GM title and the (full) IM title, but then lists alphabetically other female chess players who have the lesser titles, WGM and WIM. The list is not complete, and so I would encourage editors to add to this list whenever they can. You will see that the regular format is to add name/title/date title awarded (where known). Hi, CeeGee, in your 2013_FIBA_Europe_Under-18_Championship#Final_standings contribution you made a mistake. Each team played nine games (two results from groups A,B,C,D are counted twice). However — in fact I don't see the importance of these statistics. I think they are useless. 11th Greece (6 W, 3 L) have a better record than the 2nd Croatia (5 W, 4 L) !!! ???

Maybe you will have time to do it. About the importance of the statistics: Surely, it's your POW. As I see, that statistics is included in event articles of the same sport or other ones as well. If there's a consensus about excluding it, I'll follow, no problem. Cheers. --CeeGee 17:18, 2 August 2013 (UTC)Reply

I did it because I wanted to link to that articles. It seems that you try to find a reason for your doing. --CeeGee 18:26, 13 October 2013 (UTC)
What? Makes no sense but whatever... I know i'm "more" right than you but who cares. Kante4 (talk) 18:49, 13 October 2013 (UTC)Reply

Parameter

edit

Do you really think that you are giving appropriate use to this parameter? Are you reading properly? I mean this: {{MedalCountry | [[VakıfBank Güneş Sigorta Türk Telekom]]}} I do not agree using this in the infobox. I have not see any BLP of athletes that use it for anything but national caps. Thats why is called MedalCountry. Osplace 22:48, 13 October 2013 (UTC)Reply

I see your point. However, does it mean that club awards do not need to be included in medal tables in the infobox? Or, is there any other way to do it? Appreciate yout comment. --CeeGee 07:40, 14 October 2013 (UTC)
Yes, this is intended just for country medals. Then you should remove it in every article you add it yourself, and any other, specially Turkish players you might find it. Thanks, Osplace 02:49, 19 October 2013 (UTC)Reply
I started removing myself your templates. Please help. Thanks, Osplace 04:48, 23 October 2013 (UTC)Reply

Prose

edit

Referenced prose is needed everytime you add information to a WP:BLP. Not just mention the awards in lists and tables, prose is whats makes Wikipedia encyclopedic. I know you can do better! Sometimes is kind of boring, but this is what makes the difference. Osplace 23:49, 13 October 2013 (UTC)Reply

It's easy for me to do. I mostly do in articles I create or expand. However, in a great portion of articles where extensive award lists exist without related prose, just as in the articles I've updated recently, the "required" prose is missing anyway. This led me to proceed that way. Thank you for drawing my attention. --CeeGee 07:53, 14 October 2013 (UTC)
"It was already broken when I get there!" Sometimes an article just needs improvement, WP:RESCUE anyone can do that. Even if any previous editor drop a line of prose and an extensive list of awards without prose, what you should do is try to add as much referenced prose as you can. Are you adding new information, stop and add it in the right way, every award in the list should be present in prose above, well referenced as well. Take a look of this WP:BETTER. And please keep working. Osplace 02:49, 19 October 2013 (UTC)Reply

Hello, I'm BracketBot. I have automatically detected that your edit to Berlin memorandum may have broken the syntax by modifying 4 "[]"s and 4 "{}"s likely mistaking one for another. If you have, don't worry: just edit the page again to fix it. If I misunderstood what happened, or if you have any questions, you can leave a message on my operator's talk page.

List of unpaired brackets remaining on the page:
  • 1878: The First Year'', 298</ref> The day following the agreement of the three imperial powers, {{France|French]], [[Italy|Italian]], and {{Great Britain|British]] representatives were summoned to Berlin in order to discuss the new armistice agreement.

Turkey league women

I see you created several templates for the teams per season. I don't think that is a good approach, the club's articles will have 10 or 20 navboxes soon. MAny links will repeat itself. Why not try something like this : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Template:Fu%C3%9Fball-Bundesliga_%28women%29 It includes former teams. Greetings -Koppapa (talk) 18:25, 22 December 2013 (UTC)Reply

I like your proposal, I was not aware of that. Thanks. I will change them according your example. Cheers. --CeeGee 18:29, 22 December 2013 (UTC)
Looks good now. Is that list complete? That's a lot of teams already. Wow. -Koppapa (talk) 20:29, 22 December 2013 (UTC)Reply
The list goes back to the 2006-07 season. At this moment, I have no access to info from earlier seasons. Maybe, I can find more later.--CeeGee 20:36, 22 December 2013 (UTC)

Your signature

edit

Hi. First, you're welcome. In your notes there, I noticed that your signature does not include any links. According to WP:SIGLINK, "Signatures must include at least one direct internal link to your user page, user talk page, or contributions page". See that page for more information, including reasons, perceptions, and how to fix your signature. MANdARAX  XAЯAbИAM 21:09, 30 December 2013 (UTC)Reply

  • Yes, in the past, the link was there. However, then it vanished, and I thought this was done by WP. I wasn't aware of the option in Preferences. I was in the believe that all others than me can see the link but not me, maybe because I don't need it. Thanks for the clarification. I hope, it works now again. --CeeGee 21:22, 30 December 2013 (UTC)Reply
