William Bradford
editHi, I did second guess the source. But, thought since it seemed to be somewhat of a historical site (I didn't do a lot of browsing though) I thought it was OK. Now that I got your message, I believe you that it could very well be a commercial site, yet didn't go look again. I've had my own experience looking up my ancestors and it ticks me off all the commercialism. You do what you think is best. I'm pretty tired and need to go to bed. You seem to be doing a good job without me. I thought I was alone there. Just watch the punctuation. The refs come after the punctuation. Comma,(ref) or period.(ref) Cheers! I used to vacation in Falmouth, as a youth. - Jeeny 07:53, 5 May 2007 (UTC)
- I have no thoughts right now. LOL I may have done something I didn't mean to, when we were editing at the same time. If you removed something, or added something, then I copied before you did anything, then pasted and saved. That then would have taken your changes away. Did that make sense? Goin' ta bed. (comment copied from my page) - Jeeny 07:58, 5 May 2007 (UTC)
More on Bradford
editThanks for the message. I trust your judgment about the references regarding descendants of Bradford and their place in the article. Re: the test. I took that test again, and it came up differently, as North Central (Minnesota?) at the top, Boston second, and last -- a bit of southern. WTH? It's just for fun, though. Try it again, put a different age, or sex, then see what comes up. The choices are too few to be a true indicator of one's accent. :) Do you really have a Boston accent? - Jeeny Talk 02:11, 21 May 2007 (UTC)
- No, I don't really have much of a Boston accent; certainly not a South Boston / Dorchester accent. I suspect my accent is a Cape Cod accent, if there is distinctly such a thing. Chèvre Bleue 02:18, 5 June 2007 (UTC)
- LOL - Looks like we're related - Bradford's an ancestor of mine as well :) -- SatyrTN (talk / contribs) 21:40, 19 March 2008 (UTC)
Taskforce
editHi,
Another Wikipedian, Cocoaguy, and I just created a Salem Witch Trials task force. If you are interested in history, Massachusetts, colonial America, witchcraft, or instances of religiously motivated violence, then this is the task force for you!
So please check it out!
Sincerely,
Wiki Project Cape Cod
editI noticed that you lived on the Cape and Islands. I don't know if you know that there is a project encompassing the Cape. If you are interested on joining, click on this link: WikiProject Cape Cod. Feel free to join. Kevin Rutherford (talk) 19:42, 25 June 2008 (UTC)
Possibly unfree image
editThis is the type of message I hate to leave, because the image itself is highly encyclopedic and it looks like a good faith upload. Unfortunately I've needed to list this image as possibly unfree because the United States does not have freedom of panorama in its copyright law. The subject of this statue passed away in 1929, so it's unlikely that this statue would fall under pre-1923 public domain. Can you confirm that copyright has expired on the artwork depicted in the photograph? Discussion is at Wikipedia:Possibly_unfree_images/2008_October_25#Image:P254056-Cape_Cod_MA-Katharine_Lee_Bates_statue_Falmouth.jpg. Best wishes, DurovaCharge! 05:19, 25 October 2008 (UTC)

editAdrianne Wadewitz edit-a-thons in Southern New England | |

As you may have already heard, the Wikipedia community lost an invaluable member of the community last month. Adrianne Wadewitz was a feminist scholar of 18th-Century British literature, and a prolific editor of the site. As part of a worldwide series of tributes, New England Wikimedians, in conjunction with local institutions of higher learning, have created three edit-a-thons that will be occurring in May and June. The events are as follows:
We hope that you will be able to join us, whether you are an experienced editor or are using Wikipedia for the first time. If you have any questions, please leave a message at Kevin Rutherford's talk page. You can unsubscribe from future notifications for Boston-area events by removing your name from this list. |
