Feedback appreciated
Thank you for giving feedback on the edits of the page Climate change in Spain. Our students have also edited the following pages:
- Climate change in Indonesia
- Climate change in Japan
- Climate change in the Netherlands
- Climate change in South Korea
- Climate change in Poland
- Climate change in Greece
- Climate change in Puerto Rico
If you have time to give feedback on those pages as well, that would be most appreciated. Olle Terenius (UU) (talk) 17:49, 21 May 2023 (UTC)
- @Olle Terenius (UU) OK - and if you think my feedback is giving them too many clues let me know - also it would be great if any of them could feedback on (or edit of course) Climate change in Turkey which I wrote a while ago - should I ask them directly or is it better if you mention it? Chidgk1 (talk) 17:57, 21 May 2023 (UTC)
- Thank you for helping out! If any feedback is difficult to grasp, I will ask them to come back to you. I took a quick look at the Climate change in Turkey article and it looks very nice. I would not put my students to edit it as it already is so advanced. We have this time selected mainly those articles which are of low quality / small size and at the same time are important CO2 polluters or like The Netherlands and Greece heavily affected by climate change. RE: Unsourced
Apparently you didn't cared to read the link, otherwise you would know that it is based on actual policies. But if you want a direct link to a policy regarding your prods, start with WP:NEXIST. You were warned above and in other deprods by other users to use policy arguments for deletion propositions, yet you are keeping with these silly arguments. This sounds like disruption to me, so don't be surprised if me or someone else will start an ANI thread about your behavior. Cavarrone 11:36, 29 May 2023 (UTC)
- @Cavarrone I did read the link and I accept that some of the articles I nominated may indeed be notable. Given how quickly and easily an article can be dePRODed I don’t think I am being disruptive. I suspect some projects have just forgotten about certain obscure articles and are happy to fix them when they appear in their proposed deletion lists. Indeed I have cited a few such articles myself. Chidgk1 (talk) 11:44, 29 May 2023 (UTC)
- The point is, proposed deletions are supposed to be used for uncontroversial deletions. We have WP:BEFORE which says "if there are verifiability, notability or other sourcing concerns, take reasonable steps to search for reliable sources" (and also "check if there are interlanguage links, also in the sidebar, which may lead to more developed and better-sourced articles", which is also relevant to several of your prods). And beyond the rationale, proposing the deletion of 5 articles in 5 minutes shows that you did not bother to check whether the subject is notable or not, you did not look for sources nor you did attempt to improve/source the article by yourself. If you PROD articles just as to prompt other editors to provide sources, in spite of the good intentions, this is WP:GAMING behaviour. Then, use PRODs just for what they are designed for, i.e. uncontroversial deletions with policy-based rationales. Cavarrone 15:41, 29 May 2023 (UTC)
I have removed the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
tag from Borgartún, which you proposed for deletion. After improvement your reasoning, as given on the page, is no longer valid. Also do WP:BEFORE. If you still think this article should be deleted, please do not add {{proposed deletion}}
back to the page. Instead, feel free to list it at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion. Thanks! Snævar (talk) 08:57, 31 May 2023 (UTC)
PRODs
The WP:PROD procedure is for deleting articles that you have determined to need deletion, and that deletion is so obvious to be uncontroversial. It is not a means of blindly deleting articles that someone tagged for notability 16 years ago, that you need to ask a wikiproject about, or that "may not be notable". Just stop misusing this procedure now, or you risk being blocked. If you are incapable of determining what should be prodded then stop using this procedure altogether. WP:AFD is for discussing deletion. Phil Bridger (talk) 18:29, 11 June 2023 (UTC)
- I have asked for a third opinion at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Reliability#Is it OK to PROD articles which have been unsourced for many years? Chidgk1 (talk) 19:31, 11 June 2023 (UTC)
- You may get a reply there, but that project looks rather moribund so you may be better off asking your question somewhere else. Phil Bridger (talk) 19:44, 11 June 2023 (UTC)
- Please stop this, or the next venue this is discussed at might be WP:ANI. --Rschen7754 18:05, 12 June 2023 (UTC)

PRODs
Hello, Chidgk1,
I almost untagged some articles you tagged for Proposed deletion because you didn't really offer a legitimate deletion rationale. Please write at least one full and complete sentence stating a policy-based reason why an article should be deleted. Often, you just put down one or two words which isn't sufficient. There has to be a good reason why an article should be deleted and, as nominator, you are responsible for providing this. Please do so in the future if you want to tag an article for Proposed deletion. Thank you. Liz Read! Talk! 17:55, 11 September 2023 (UTC)

That’s not what PROD is for
Hi!
Regarding City of Mandaluyong Science High School, simply saying that schools aren’t automatically notable isn’t an appropriate reason for a PROD.
Per WP:PROD, "PROD must only be used if no opposition to the deletion is expected."
AfD should be the default venue for something like this.
As for notability, I instantly found this source here: [1]
Per WP:SCHOOLOUTCOMES, other reliable sources are likely to exist offline. So I think it’s safe to presume that GNG is likely satisfied.
In any case, feel free to take the article to AfD where a proper debate can take place. If you choose to do that, I’d ask that you ping me as a courtesy.
Keep calm and keep editing!

Plant, DYK, and "improvements" after the fact
Um, you nominate an article that someone else brought to GA, without so much as telling them (let alone asking), then you try to make up for some internal DYK QPQ by making a bunch of niggling "improvements" (not sure that has anything to do with QPQ, actually) after the fact. Then you tell the puzzled editor in an edit comment "please revert if you think Asterophyllites does not deserve an article": well, no, revert if you don't think creating redlinks is specially wonderful, actually, or if you think that editors should create articles first and links afterwards. Great, great. In fact, great. Well done, fine work. Keep it up, in fact. Great. Think about it. Chiswick Chap (talk) 19:17, 5 October 2023 (UTC)

Your GA nomination of Agriculture in Turkey
The article Agriculture in Turkey you nominated as a good article has passed ; see Talk:Agriculture in Turkey for comments about the article, and Talk:Agriculture in Turkey/GA2 for the nomination. Well done! If the article has never appeared on the Main Page as a "Did you know" item, and has not appeared within the last year either as "Today's featured article", or as a bold link under "In the news" or in the "On this day" prose section, you can nominate it within the next seven days to appear at DYK. Bolded names with dates listed at the bottom of the "On this day" column do not affect DYK eligibility. DYK for Agriculture in Turkey
On 23 November 2023, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Agriculture in Turkey, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that Turkey is the world's largest grower of hazelnuts, apricots, and oregano? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Agriculture in Turkey. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Agriculture in Turkey), and the hook may be added to the statistics page after its run on the Main Page has completed. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.
Agriculture in Turkey
Hi. Good work. Please add agriculture fairs also. See: https://www.growtech.com.tr/en/home.html 212.174.190.23 (talk) 13:02, 24 November 2023 (UTC)
- @212.174.190.23: Thanks. You should be able to add them yourself or do you have a conflict of interest? Chidgk1 (talk) 13:11, 24 November 2023 (UTC)
I'm an agricultor. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 212.174.190.23 (talk) 13:23, 24 November 2023 (UTC)
- “Agricultor” is not quite the exact translation - what would that be in Turkish? You mean you are a farmer or you mean you have an agricultural business? If you help organize the fairs or have a stand then you have a COI so I will do the edit.
- But if you just go to the agricultural fairs to look around and maybe buy you don’t have a COI and you can edit the article yourself. Or if you prefer you could edit tr:Türkiye'de tarım and then I could translate to here. It is good to see other people interested in this important subject so if you have time it would be great if you could generally bring tr:Türkiye'de tarım a bit more up to date. Pendragon books deletions
Hi, I saw your AfD for the second book in the Pendragon series and proposed a redirect to the main series article. Going through, I think that is the appropriate move for all of the other books as well. I checked all time of them and the best they had as an independent source was the Publisher's Weekly blurb and most didn't even have that. Would you be willing to put up the rest of the series under the umbrella of the AfD for the sake of expediency? Happy to discuss further but to me, none of these cut the mustard. Before I open a sockpuppet investigation
Hey Chidgk1, before I open a sockpuppet investigation is there are legitimate reason it would look like this account and EMsmile are run by the same individual or otherwise engaged in coordinated or tag-team editing? You're both older accounts so I am extending this as a courtesy, I generally just open the investigation and see what people have to say. Horse Eye's Back (talk) 18:34, 14 December 2023 (UTC)
- @Horse Eye's Back We are both active in Wikipedia:WikiProject Climate change but have no other connection apart from having the same king I think! I occasionally look at the history of what non-climate change editing other people active on the project are doing and dive in to that article, especially deleting or copyediting, because it is often easier than writing new content about Turkey where I live, which is what I think is most important long-term. Not just @EMsmile but also, for example Femke - I did a little copyediting on Long COVID back in August and September (I don’t suffer from it so no need to go easy on me). If you need any further info feel free to ask - if it is anything confidential I will look into https://support.apple.com/en-gb/102245 for encrypting mail or I can email you my WhatsApp number if you prefer Chidgk1 (talk) 19:03, 14 December 2023 (UTC)
- @EMsmile:@Chidgk1: thank you both for the additional context, nothing wrong with any of that and looking at it with the additional context it does look like more a walled garden of scholars writing the same books situation than anything nefarious. Please accept my apologies and feel free to point anyone in the future who brings up the same question my way. Horse Eye's Back (talk) 19:20, 14 December 2023 (UTC)
- I also apologize to EMSmile for confusing her with Clayoquot, who is the one who shares a king with me I think! Chidgk1 (talk) 19:26, 14 December 2023 (UTC)
- No problem. No king for me (I am based in Germany). :-) Clayoquot is in Canada. I wasn't aware of that editor interaction tool and am not sure how it could have been used to prove anything. If I was the same person as Chidgk1 then why should I switch backwards and forwards between two accounts while editing. - I think some fancy AI software could probably analyse how we write on talk pages and detect that I write as a non-native speaker (German) whereas he's a native English speaker. And so forth.
- I guess the tag-team editing could have been plausible concern (as Chidgk1 and I seem to fairly often agree on things) but I can assure you we don't interact "behind the scenes", don't do canvassing or alike.
- In any case, being part of a kind of "virtual team" as part of WikiProject Climate Change is very satisfying. Do join us! Nice group of people. Have a great day. (I am currently busy with food security which is only loosely related to climate change) EMsmile (talk) 19:39, 14 December 2023 (UTC)

Hello, I'm That Tired Tarantula. Wikipedia is written by people who have a wide diversity of opinions, but we try hard to make sure articles have a neutral point of view. Your recent edit to Social cost of carbon seemed less than neutral and has been removed. If you think this was a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. That Tired Tarantula (talk) 19:50, 14 December 2023 (UTC)
PRODs
Hello, Chidgk1,
While there is no BEFORE for PRODS, like there is for AFDs, it would be great if you could provide a deletion rationale that is based in Wikipedia policies and guidelines. For example, for Information protection policy, you basically said that the article should be deleted because you didn't think Wikipedia needed it. That's a very subjective reason for why an article that has existed for over a decade should be deleted and I'm surprised that it wasn't untagged.
Please ground your deletion choices based on Wikipedia policies and not your own opinion on what articles are or aren't needed. I know you are a very experienced editor but I'm just asking you to take an extra minute or two when you are tagging a page for Proposed deletion to provide a better justification for deletion. Thank you. Liz Read! Talk! 19:28, 19 October 2023 (UTC)
- Same goes for Rapid construction or for just typing "not notable" without any further elaboration as you do for many PRODs like Vendor log and Beat-sheet. It just isn't enough justification for article deletion. Please look over User:DumbBOT/ProdSummary for deletion rationales provided by other editors and you'll notice that most of them have some reference to a Wikipedia policy or notability guideline. Please start doing this as well. Thank you. Liz Read! Talk! 19:34, 19 October 2023 (UTC)
- I now see that I already left you a message about this matter over a month ago at User talk:Chidgk1#PRODs which you never responded to. If your deletion rationales don't start improving, I'm going to start declining your Proposed deletion requests. Please work on this and don't ignore these messages. Liz Read! Talk! 19:36, 19 October 2023 (UTC)
- Sorry for not responding to your previous message - it was not deliberate - I must have accidentally missed it Chidgk1 (talk) 16:36, 26 November 2023 (UTC)

- @Liz OK I don’t want to give you admin guys extra work so even though being unsourced is not a deletion reason in itself it is supporting evidence so I guess I should write something like “Article has been tagged as unsourced for over a decade - I did a Google search and the subject does not seem to be notable”. Also I now try to avoid PRODing some things which have specialized notability criteria such as roads and places. I am also now avoiding PRODing the many unsourced music albums as their standard seems to be to merge or redirect to the artist rather than delete. Chidgk1 (talk) 17:03, 26 November 2023 (UTC)
You have been busy prodding. The admins and I will be busy reviewing all of this. Is it possible for you to slow your work on this. There are plenty of other places to spread your wiki energy. ~Kvng (talk) 23:29, 14 December 2023 (UTC)

Please note that for books there is always the option of redirecting to the author, using {{R from book}}, if he/she has an article - similar to albums and performers.Ingratis (talk) 16:52, 15 December 2023 (UTC)
Hello, Chidgk1,
In case you were not aware of this, I wanted to point out your mistake in the creation of this AFD deletion discussion. You need to slow down and use the processes of deletion more carefully. There was another AFD where you repeated your nomination statement three times and recently you chose to PROD a great many articles over a short period of time. Deletion of content is one of the more drastic actions that can happen on the project so it has to not be done hurriedly. Look over your AFDs after you create them to make sure they are appropriate by common AFD standards. Thank you for your contributions. Liz Read! Talk! 03:11, 16 December 2023 (UTC)
Invitation
- Hello Chidgk1, we need experienced volunteers.
- New Page Patrol is currently struggling to keep up with the influx of new articles. We could use a few extra hands on deck if you think you can help.
- Reviewing/patrolling a page doesn't take much time but it requires a good understanding of Wikipedia policies and guidelines; Wikipedia needs experienced users to perform this task and there are precious few with the appropriate skills. Even a couple reviews a day can make a huge difference.
- Kindly read the tutorial before making your decision (if it looks daunting, don't worry, it basically boils down to checking CSD, notability, and title). If this looks like something that you can do, please consider joining us.
- If you would like to join the project and help out, please see the granting conditions. You can apply for the user-right HERE.
- If you have questions, please feel free to drop a message at the reviewer's discussion board.
- Cheers, and hope to see you around.

Edits on Energy of Bulgaria
With all due respect, please refrain to remove sources. Both are well founded and respected. You may consider them old, but in their core, they are not. From these, I cite fundamental issues, not some statistics that change over the years. Therefore, I removed all of your recent edits today, because they lack elementary respect. You may reenter the constructive parts. And also, do not remove information, simply because it may also be available in other articles. It is relevant for that one too. If you wish to do such changes, first discuss the all the talk page. Regards, --Gligan (talk) 19:05, 11 January 2024 (UTC)

Hi Chidgk1! I know I sometimes disagree with your suggestions in the talk page, but I do not want to discourage you. Given your interest in this article and that you are a very experienced editor, would you be interested in improving this article? We can take it slowly, perhaps over several months lol. Question
Am I allowed to make a subsection of common names on the page of panther pardus tuliana? Firekong1 (talk) 16:34, 19 March 2024 (UTC)
- I am not an expert on Wikipedia rules but I have no objection as long as the names are actually common and you use reliable sources Chidgk1 (talk) 16:58, 19 March 2024 (UTC)
- So as it has been stated previously, there are sources for the common names on the articles, but the only problem is that I do not want to get into an edit war, because it is not my intention to do so. I simply want to improve the page how I see fit. What do you suggest I do? I shall not edit it right now, I'll wait until you and/or a few other wikipedian authorities let me know when its safe. Firekong1 (talk) 13:46, 20 March 2024 (UTC)
- Your question led me to investigate off topic a bit and I was surprised to find our article is not linked to the one on Farsi Wikipedia. So I attempted to merge Wikidata item Q729713 with Q754336 but was unsucessful. If you are skilled with Wikidata perhaps you would like to try. Chidgk1 (talk) 19:01, 20 March 2024 (UTC)
- By the way I am not an authority as I very rarely edit biology articles Chidgk1 (talk) 19:04, 20 March 2024 (UTC)
- Alright then. Just to ensure that I do not seem as if I am starting an edit quarrel, am I allowed to add the section once I create a proper list of common names not used on the page header? Firekong1 (talk) 19:22, 20 March 2024 (UTC)
- I am not an admin - I don’t decide what you are allowed to do - I may whinge about Oxford commas etc but I am not very interested in Wikipedia rules so I have only a couple of times made any formal complaint - it would have to be something serious - for example paid editors who claim they are not Chidgk1 (talk) 19:53, 20 March 2024 (UTC)
- Of course. Thank you for letting me know anyway, I thought I’d ask you since you are a trusted veteran editor on Wikipedia. Firekong1 (talk) 13:06, 21 March 2024 (UTC)

Not sure about your deletion! :)
Hi there! I was just double-checking the citation you deleted in "Air pollution". https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Air_pollution&oldid=1216214272
Although that paper was published in 2007, it's a highly cited paper (>500 citations) and a systematic review of "all studies published between 1950 and 2007" on that subject - so I think it would count as a high quality WP:MEDRS. I think we should probably put it back but address whatever the problem was that prompted someone to label it "clarification needed". Just wanted to check what you think and if you see some other problem with it?
Thanks! 45154james (talk) 12:06, 30 March 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks for asking. You probably know better than me so I won’t object if you revert my change.
- I don’t understand the info in brackets - perhaps that is why it was tagged “clarification needed”. I thought that nowadays we understood that PM1 is rather dangerous but perhaps that is only for the brain rather than cardiovascular? The info in brackets seems to be saying that the total weight of particles determines the danger - but probably I misunderstood.
- Also it only says correlation - I wonder whether anyone has proved causation by now. Chidgk1 (talk) 15:17, 30 March 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks for your thoughts! I didn't want to just revert because there is clearly a problem with it and it does need improving. I'll see if I can rewrite and summarize the latest research with whatever the latest WP:MEDRS might be. 45154james (talk) 08:47, 31 March 2024 (UTC)
Hi, I saw your proposed deletion of Escouade de contre-terrorisme et de libération d'otages and I have some concerns as to the reason why you tagged the page: The French article also has no sources. A page should not be deleted simply because it lacks sources, see WP:DEL-REASON.
I will leave the tag because I have notability concerns regarding this page, but I just thought I would raise your attention to this. Broc (talk) 11:13, 30 April 2024 (UTC)

I have sent you a note about a page you started
Hi Chidgk1. Thank you for your work on Türkşeker. Another editor, SunDawn, has reviewed it as part of new pages patrol and left the following comment:

Removing redirects from outlines
I noticed that you removed the entry "Forest pathology" from the Outline of forestry, because it redirected to Plant pathology.
A couple of things...
1) The entry itself was valid, even though the link was faulty. There is an entire field known as forestry pathology. Outlines are lists of topics that belong to a subject, regardless of whether or not those topics have Wikipedia articles on them. ;)
2) Upon inspecting the redirect, it became evident that there was an entire article there that someone had deleted by redirecting it. Something to keep an eye out for. I reverted the redirect and restored the Forest pathology article.
Just some friendly feedback. Cheers, — The Transhumanist 07:59, 10 May 2024 (UTC)
- @The Transhumanist OK I had not noticed there used to be an article and did not know there was such a field. As you obviously know a lot more about forestry than I do might you have time to help with Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Climate change#How to clean up the mess around trees and mitigation? Chidgk1 (talk) 08:05, 10 May 2024 (UTC)
- I don't pretend to know much about forestry. Though, I'll be happy to take a look. — The Transhumanist 08:12, 10 May 2024 (UTC)
- Did some work on Forestry, rearranging the sections to better reflect article standards. That should make it easier to merge related articles into it. Cheers, — The Transhumanist 09:24, 10 May 2024 (UTC)
- I dove in to the article on Forest management and the discussions on its talk page. I've expanded the article with new sections (populated with excerpts), and started a work area on the talk page for gathering resources on the subject and potential headings for the article. I hope you find it helpful. Feel free to leapfrog, or springboard off of those. Cheers — The Transhumanist 21:48, 10 May 2024 (UTC)

Tips on topic maintenance in outlines
By the way, some tips on topic maintenance on outlines:
1) Use Google to see if a topic is valid before considering whether or not to remove it from the outline.
2) When coming across redirects to non-matching articles, inspect the redirect's edit history to see if somebody used redirection to delete the article. If there is an article there, check to see if it was a valid deletion supported by consensus formed in a discussion (on the talk page or at AfD).
I hope you find these tips useful. Cheers, — The Transhumanist 08:19, 10 May 2024 (UTC)
