Adding references can be easy

Hello! Here's how to add references from reliable sources for the content you add to Wikipedia. This helps maintain the Wikipedia policy of verifiability.

Adding well formatted references is actually quite easy:

  1. While editing any article or a wikipage, on the top of the edit window you will see a toolbar which says "Cite". Click on it.
  2. Then click on "Templates".
  3. Choose the most appropriate template and fill in as many details as you can. This will add a well formatted reference that is helpful in case the web URL (or "website link") becomes inactive in the future.
  4. Click on Preview when you're done filling out the 'Cite (web/news/book/journal)' to make sure that the reference is correct.
  5. Click on Insert to insert the reference into your editing window content.
  6. Click on Show preview to Preview all your editing changes.
  • Before clicking on Save page, check that a References header   ==References==   is near the end of the article.
  • And check that   {{Reflist}}    is directly underneath that header.
7.  Click on Save page. ...and you've just added a complete reference to a Wikipedia article.

  Hello, I'm Zackmann08. Thank you for your recent contributions to Colonel Sanders. I noticed that when you added the image to the infobox, you added it as a thumbnail. In the future, please do not use thumbnails when adding images to an infobox (see WP:INFOBOXIMAGE). What does this mean? Well in the infobox, when you specify the image you wish to use, instead of doing it like this:

|image=[[File:SomeImage.jpg|thumb|Some image caption]]

Instead just supply the name of the image. So in this case you can simply do:

|image=SomeImage.jpg.

There will then be a separate parameter for the image caption such as |caption=Some image caption. Please note that this is a generic form message I am leaving on your page because you recently added a thumbnail to an infobox. The specific parameters for the image and caption may be different for the infobox you are using! Please consult the Template page for the infobox being used to see better documentation. Thanks! Adding quoted hypocorisms to opening sentences

Hi. I saw you added a hypocorism in quotation marks to the opening sentence of Dick Van Dyke (in other words, Richard Wayne "Dick" Van Dyke). Per MOS:NICKNAME, we don't do this. Adding Photos to Wikipedia

I understand the physical process of adding a photo to Wikipedia, but I’m afraid I don’t understand how a photo qualifies to be added. It’s seems very convoluted and arduous. Must they all be old? If another website is using a 20+ year photo, shouldn’t it be ok here? The tables are missing from the four above articles that indicated nominees and winners in a given year. They’ve been deleted and not in a tidy way; the table keys indicating how the winners are highlighted, still remains. I made a note changing ‘Table Key’ to ‘Table is Missing; Sept 2020.’ I was hoping to seek some assistance that way. Does anyone know why this was done and how it can be fixed? Unfortunately, IMDb is not a reliable source for use in Wikipedia articles. Please see WP:IMDB for comments. Their birthdays are not in either info box; just their current age. They've been blocked on both. It's interesting that is Ms. Lee and Ms. Carey and no one else. There is rivalry between fans of each artist and their hit Christmas songs. There is no reason why their birthdates shouldn't be listed in the Quick Info. box like everyone else. I fixed Ms. Lee's box. I went back thru the history of Ms. Carey's page, and found it had been removed, but the person who removed it has returned it since the writing of my note on the Talk page.
