Changes to your edits on Laguna woods shooting page

edit

Hello I have reverted a series of edits which you recently made on the involved page that in my opinion presents a distorted narrative of the shooting. Since you are the editor who is making these significant changes I kindly ask that you take them to the discussion page where we can hopefully find a resolution to this dispute and in so doing avoid the need to resort to less peaceful ways of doing so. Thank you for your cooperation in advance Thundercloss (talk) 22:52, 20 June 2022 (UTC)Reply

I don't know why you would ascribe me for significant changes when you made them first. Anyways, see you on the discussion page. Cobiexor (talk) 17:40, 21 June 2022 (UTC)Reply

September 2022

Hello, I'm Dylan620. I wanted to let you know that one of your recent contributions—specifically this edit to Highland Park parade shooting—has been undone because it appeared to be promotional. Advertising and using Wikipedia as a "soapbox" are against Wikipedia policy and not permitted; Wikipedia articles should be written objectively, using independent sources, and from a neutral perspective. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about Wikipedia. If you have any questions, you can ask for assistance at the Help desk. Thank you. Hi @Dylan620, I just wanted to record the event, not to promote anything. This is how the Chicago Sun-Times covered the story:
"The Highland Park Community Foundation will provide grants to victims of the July 4 parade massacre or their families and also give money to nonprofit organizations helping others who suffered, with a Sept. 7 deadline to file claims. The foundation — which marks its 30th anniversary this year — is well known in the area for its local charitable giving. With the blessings of the city of Highland Park, it created a July 4th Highland Park Shooting Response Fund immediately after the attack. Money raised through fundraisers, the sale of items such as T-shirts and signs, and individual donations has been steered to this fund ..." Cobiexor (talk) 04:29, 7 October 2022 (UTC)Reply
Hi Cobiexor, and apologies for the late response. In retrospect, I think my decision to revert was a little harsh. I do think that the text you added at the time did read with a bit of a promotional bent, even if unintentionally, as it appeared to focus a little too heavily on the organization itself. To my eyes, your edit yesterday was considerably better, as it stuck to the news story which was cited as a source while avoiding puffery.
