WHEC/Funke

First Funke is notable in the same way Maggie Brooks is notable in that they now are both elected politicians. He is also notable in relation to coverage of that station similarly to how Irv Weinstein is Notable with WKBW-TV Buffalo due to their name recognition with the station. Funke just won an election because he has name brand association from being on Channel 10 for all those years and this is a Democrat talking. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mo2010 (talkcontribs)

@Mo2010: Maggie Brooks also has an article which validates her notability. The article has more than one source, unlike Funke. More than one reliable source needs to be present in order to make note of his notability. Corkythehornetfan (Talk) 18:23, 5 November 2014 (UTC)

Hi from Nickthelakerfan

Corky, I have not the slightest idea what was the problem with my recent edit to KCBS-TV, since it was factual and documentable and, as you were kind and generous enough to write, in "good faith." I edit Wikipedia very seldom, and only when I think something is missing; what I added was. Whatever did not meet Wikipedia's arcane guidelines for such a trivial edit, I've no idea. This doesn't really interest me enough to converse about, though I was curious enough about it to message you. I'm sure more engaged editors than me would bring me up to speed. Though I don't travel all that fast, here or otherwise. Any response from you , should you choose to make any, would be delightful to receive. Lantana11 (talk) 04:38, 8 November 2014 (UTC)

@Lantana11: If you are referring to the removal of the staff members, then I removed them because they violate WP:LISTPEOPLE; they aren't notable. WikiProject TV Stations has discussed and decided that the only station staff members that should stay in the articles are those who either have a Wikipedia article (WP:LISTPEOPLE) or have a reliable source to back it up. The "Meet the Team" on the station's website is not a good source because it is a primary source. Just because a station lists its employees doesn't mean Wikipedia needs to as well. For the past month–month and a half, I have been going through articles cleaning out the staff sections where the team isn't notable, as well as removing the slogans and newscasts. (WNBC is a good example of notable people.) Wikipedia is also not a directory. See here, here, and here for previous discussions about this. Hope this explains it! Corkythehornetfan (Talk) 13:13, 8 November 2014 (UTC)

Look at this on the Comcast website

Go to this link to see if WNFM is owned by Comcast. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.222.82.111 (talk)

Ok, I already knew that it is owned by Comcast since I looked it up before I typed it. What's your point? Corkythehornetfan (Talk) 22:01, 8 November 2014 (UTC)

WABC 7 changes

yes I made changes to the WABC 7 page, & yes I have cited it with a reliable source from their official website, so I say you made a mistake by removing it, shouldn't Wikipedia be updated with actual information — Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.101.148.169 (talk) 03:01, 9 November 2014 (UTC)

No, you made the mistake of adding non-notable people to the article; it violates WP:LISTPEOPLE. The "Meet the Team" on the station's website is not a good source because it is a primary source. You'll need other sources other than the "Meet the Team" on the station's website to back it up. Just because a station lists its employees doesn't mean Wikipedia needs to as well. Wikipedia is also NOT a DIRECTORY. Corkythehornetfan (Talk) 19:25, 9 November 2014 (UTC)

Posted to User talk:Curioushavedape and User talk:Corkythehornetfan. Please don't clutter the page history with a slow motion edit war. You've got two reasonable logo images, discuss it together on talk. Let me know if you want a third opinion.

Also don't WP:REVTALK. Using edit summaries to discuss or debate isn't good. My tip/trick: If you're making the same edit a second time then you know someone disagrees with it. Be the first to post your explanation on talk page, make the edit, and use the edit summary to point the other person to the explanation on Talk. That establishes you as the cooperative editor initiating discussion, with the convenient bonus that your preferred version generally stays in place during the discussion. Alsee (talk) 07:04, 10 November 2014 (UTC)

Thanks. I saw that he reverted it and was going to post something on the article's talk page today. CorkytheHornetfan (Talk) 13:38, 10 November 2014 (UTC)

KCBS-TV Anchors

Corky, I believe we are talking about two entirely different things regarding this subject. I have added names to a directory that ALREADY exists. The additions are correct and current. "Notability" has not a thing to do with this, as it marginally might be with station "alumni" and former personalities. If Wikipedia is not in the business of offering directories, then should not the whole existing list be removed? How could an incomplete and thus incorrect listing of anchors be allowed to remain? I mean, for example, if there were a list of US Senators, would several states' representatives be left off the roster? And just who determines "notability" -- and on what basis? Lantana11 (talk) 07:45, 10 November 2014 (UTC)

"Notability" has been defined for these purposes as having an individual Wikipedia article, which I think is arbitrary and almost circular logic (Wikipedia says you're notable because you're on Wikipedia). There are plenty of people who are former TV station personalities who are notable in their communities but don't have Wikipedia biographies. Most of the complete personnel lists can be found on the stations' Websites (although that's been criticized as a "primary source," which seems illogical because a TV station's news site would be accepted as a source for anything else). I agree that the list of current personnel should be either completely there or completely gone - otherwise, in many cases, it inaccurately looks like three people comprise the station's entire news operation. 67.197.243.87 (talk) 10:05, 10 November 2014 (UTC)
@Lantana11: No we are not. We are talking about the addition of the non-notable staff members that were made by you (This edit and This edit). They violate WP:LISTPEOPLE. If you look above, I gave the reason as to why the names can't stay on here.
When editing these lists, I could insert {{inc video}}, which states that it is an incomplete list. Some easy guidelines for whether they are notable or not are:
  1. Each person MUST meet Wikipedia:Bio requirements to ensure Notability.
  2. Each person MUST meet Wikipedia:Verifiability requirements to verify their notability and prove they attended the school.
  3. If the person has a Wikipedia article, then wikilink the persons name so it points at the article.
  4. If the person doesn't have a Wikipedia article, then add citation references to prove notability and attendance, other than the "Meet the Team" website. (This would be WP:SECONDARY & WP:THIRDPARTY.)
It is pretty simple. You can check the most recent archive on the WP:WikiProject Television Stations talk page, as the members, or other users that have talked on the page, have come to a consensus about the on–air staff. (here) CorkytheHornetfan (Talk) 13:38, 10 November 2014 (UTC)
Regarding the KCBS-TV anchors, well, you need not provide any further information. Even if it can be explained in any logical way why a freelance and fill-in reporter is notable and a lead anchor who has spent ten years with the station is not, then I think it would make my head hurt. I don't have any more interest in this subject. Thank you for your time. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Lantana11 (talkcontribs)
That's fine. Corkythehornetfan (Talk) 19:12, 10 November 2014 (UTC)

I Hope All Respect Is Intact

Corkythehornetfan, regarding our conversation on this KCBS-TV anchor list, I sincerely hope that my comments did not convey any disrespectful or even insouciant tone. I do understand the points you made and, on the occasions when I do edit articles, follow them. I suppose I was trying to say that I do complain sometimes that the Wiki guidelines, in the pursuit of correctness, essential, take a follow-the-letter-but-miss-the-spirit kind of turn. But I may well be wrong, and what I think doesn't matter much anyhow. I'm glad Wiki is what it is, and I'm very sorry for any contentiousness. Thanks for the time, Nick Lantana11 (talk) 06:29, 11 November 2014 (UTC)

I didn't read them as disrespectful. You aren't the first person that has done this, so I'm use to it by now. Before removing the names, I argued with another editor over it, but finally came to realization that they were right and I was wrong, as I hadn't heard of the discussions the WikiProject had. So, no hard feelings. Have a great day! Corkythehornetfan (Talk) 22:24, 11 November 2014 (UTC)

Self-revert needed at CKCO-DT

At the time you posted, "Yes, they dont mert those requirements. ill post on talk page my reason later when I'm on a computer.", diff, you knew that there was no consensus to change the article, and your edit comment is not a response to the reasons for the restoration of consensus.  The statement "they don't mert those requirements" is incoherent.  In the WP:BRD sequence, the discussion occurs after the first revert, not after a second revert.  So you also changed the article while stipulating that discussion was needed and in disregard of WP:BRD.  I propose that you self-revert.  Unscintillating (talk) 23:59, 12 November 2014 (UTC)

@Unscintillating: Did you read the talk page of CKCO-DT? I explained AND gave three links where it has been discussed. It doesn't mean just that article, but all television station articles. It was suppose to say meet instead of mert.. forgive the typo. Later today, I did post on the talk page here when I used my computer. Last night, I edited from my phone and did not want to explain it using the phone. Here is what I said on the talk page:
I will not revert my edit. Mine is right, I've been going through many articles doing the same thing, and so have others. Just because you didn't like one edit to an article you edit, doesn't mean your edit is right. WP:WikiProject Television Stations has had several discussions, which are listed in the quote by the way, and they have decided multiple times that NON-notable staff do not meet WP:LISTPEOPLE. Corkythehornetfan (Talk) 00:24, 13 November 2014 (UTC)
Since you are "right", you don't see a need to discuss before you "fix" the article.  Right?  Unscintillating (talk) 01:21, 13 November 2014 (UTC)
I'm not saying there isn't a need to discuss before someone makes "fix" to the article, but if you had a problem with it, why didn't you talk about it on the talk page before reverting? I would have been glad to talk about it. Corkythehornetfan (Talk) 02:03, 13 November 2014 (UTC)
I did and do have a problem with your edit and I restored the article consensus.  Had you wanted to discuss the matter, the "D" in WP:BRD follows my "R".  I do not accept that WP:BRRD is a suitable alternative to WP:BRD.  Unscintillating (talk) 04:20, 13 November 2014 (UTC)
If you didn't have a problem with it, then why are you making a big fuss over it? I realize you were restoring consensus, but it failed to meet WP:LISTPEOPLE, which I simply put in my edit summary. If I were to see an edit summary like that, I would have left it alone not making a big fuss over it if I read the guidelines for it. I probably could have mentioned that I was going to do it on the talk page, but if I did that to every. single. article. I removed them from, then that would be tiring and not worth it because some users wouldn't even look at it. Corkythehornetfan (Talk) 05:12, 13 November 2014 (UTC)

Question

Is it vandalism, if I have Userpage deleted, and then I put it back up myself??(JoeCool950 (talk) 05:18, 13 November 2014 (UTC))

How soon after are you going to restore it? If you have it deleted and then decide to restore it because you want it back then it wouldn't be. I'm not sure how you would vandalize your own user page... just make sure your user page follows Wikipedia guidelines. Corkythehornetfan (Talk) 05:24, 13 November 2014 (UTC)

Thank you

Thank you for your help this evening, however, it's probably best we let them be and let the Administrators do their job in this case. We won't be making our own cases better at this point. livelikemusic my talk page! 02:46, 23 November 2014 (UTC)

Which is quite sad, if you ask me. That's why I'm no longer involving myself in this discussion. I'll wait for Administrative decision. livelikemusic my talk page! 03:10, 23 November 2014 (UTC)

TV Logos

Hey there - thanks for letting me know about the duplicate logos. I figured that simply uploading a new logo (from scratch) would be better, but in the future I will remember to just upload a new version. Thanks again! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Cmilt95 (talkcontribs)

@Cmilt95: It's fine you upload a new logo from scratch, just make sure you don't add it to both... that was all I was trying to say. I don't have a problem with uploading a new from scratch, but it is just easier to upload it to the old one. Corkythehornetfan (Talk) 23:34, 30 November 2014 (UTC)

Question

What about blanking a userpage?? I'm guessing a blank userpage is okay to have. Mine has been blank for about a week or 2. (JoeCool950 (talk) 03:40, 1 December 2014 (UTC))

I would think a blank user page is fine... Corkythehornetfan (Talk) 03:59, 1 December 2014 (UTC)

Al Jazeera America / Reason I did that

The reason I did that in the interest of Fairness. I constructed most of that page and the Al Jazeera Pages have been unfairly targeted in the past when other pages have not been affected. Such is the world of United States cable news where there favorites and enemies on every side, It is a sensitive situation. I apologize for resisting at every turn but that is the reason.

NOTE: I also believe that the rules surrounding things like correspondents and on air personnel should be changed. The newer channels do not have the bigger names like the older ones and deleting names that do not have pages yet (I'm working on that) gives an appearance of things being different than they actually are. If they are hosting they are notable for at least that. Also if they are the main feature of a program such as News (Al Jazeera America) it does not make sense to get rid of them as it then does not give an accurate picture of the program (Mo2010 (talk) 9:27, 9 December 2014 (UTC))

I understand that, but I think it needs to be discussed after you revert it on the talk page; the edit summary is fine, but I don't want to edit war. If I have to, then I'll write on the talk pages before I start removing the information. It should be clear by now that I and others are working on removing the names if they don't meet guidelines. So instead of reverting, wait until 1) they have an article 2) just leave them off of the page.
As for your note, make sure those people are notable per WP:BLP. If they aren't notable, they might get put up for deletion. They have to have reliable sources and third-party sources, not just primary. And I'm going to say something I've mentioned before, "Why do I, or others, care who the correspondents or anchors are for the program, especially if they haven't done anything notable?" They need to have a reason as to why they are notable.. Corkythehornetfan (Talk) 15:20, 9 December 2014 (UTC)

Image deletion

Please stop sending me image deletion notices every time you add an image that is exactly the same as the ones I have uploaded. I don't care! Honestly I don't see why you are doing it at all. But I really don't care about the notices about them being deleted so please stop posting them on my talk page, I just delete them. Bsuorangecrush (talk) 19:54, 11 December 2014 (UTC)

@Bsuorangecrush: I'm doing it because transparent, better quality versions look better than blurry .jpg versions. As for the notifications, sorry. I have it so it notifies the sender when it gets nominated. I'll try and remember to not to have it notify you when it is your files. Corkythehornetfan (Talk) 20:02, 11 December 2014 (UTC)

MOS:BOLDTITLE

Format of the first sentence

"If the article's title does not lend itself to being used easily and naturally in the opening sentence, the wording should not be distorted in an effort to include it:" MOS:BOLDTITLE I realize for some reason Wikipedia does not honor official branding but since the full name of the school is listed at the end of the first sentence, repeating the distorted (illegal in Louisiana) hyphenated version is not "easily and naturally" as required. Thanks, — Preceding unsigned comment added by Rmatics (talkcontribs) 20:56, 11 December 2014 (UTC)

@Rmatics: Then you need to talk about it on the talk page and have a discussion, where other users can come to a census about it. I'm well aware of what BOLDTITLE says, I've read it before. In the future, you might want to state the article you are talking about. Luckily, I knew which one you were talking about. Corkythehornetfan (Talk) 21:05, 11 December 2014 (UTC)

CBS Evening News "Western Edition" Edit

I have a couple of questions regarding your recent edit of the "CBS Evening News" Wikipedia page.

1) Is there a reason as to why the airing times of this program were completely removed?

2) In regards to the following sentence:

"For viewers in the Pacific Time Zone, CBS broadcasts a separate "Western Edition" live, an hour after the main broadcast, in Pacific Time which is tape delayed to viewers in Alaska & Hawaii."

If the East coast edition airs live at 6:30pm ET and a separate "Western" edition airs live at 6:30pm PT (which would be 9:30pm ET), how can you state that the Western edition airs one hour after the East coast airing? Should that sentence actually say "three hours after the main broadcast"? Unless.....the Western Edition is NOT live but actually pre-recorded at 7:30pm ET?

Could you please clarify this? JKSAW (talk) 16:52, 17 December 2014 (UTC)

I removed them because Wikipedia is not a TV Guide. I didn't really think it through on how it read, I just removed the times. The newscast is tape-delayed and airs 5:30 p.m. Pacific, so it would be the three hour difference. I realize the mistake, and have reverted my edits. WJW (TV) Alumni change

Hello. Listen, why did you take off Jeff Maynor and Jim Hale? They were anchors on City Camera News/Newscenter 8 during the 1976-77 season (and after Storer purchased the station). There are the videos on YouTube under "WJKW" as proof. Mahjong705 (talk) 21:40, 21 December 2014 (UTC)

@Mahjong705: Lists of people must meet the criteria listed at WP:LISTPEOPLE. If a name is included in the article in this way, it has to show that it's relevant to the subject by meeting WP:LISTPEOPLE. Mayor and Hale didn't meet the Wikipedia notability requirement (no wiki article, no reliable sources, etc). WP:WikiProject Television Stations members basically said that if the person doesn't have a Wikipedia article, they aren't notable. As for the YouTube sources, they are not reliable. See here, here, and here for previous discussions about this. Corkythehornetfan (Talk) 17:59, 22 December 2014 (UTC)
@Corkythehornetfan: So what you're saying is, without actual sources from making long, intensive searches throughout the internet, Maynor and Hale simply don't exist? Do you know how long that's gonna take? Mahjong705 (talk) 03:13, 23 December 2014 (UTC)
@Mahjong705: I'm not saying they don't exist, I'm just saying that they aren't notable enough to be on Wikipedia per WP:LISTPEOPLE. Why should I, or anyone else for that matter, care about who Maynor and Hale are? They may be notable in Cleveland, but here in Kansas or any other state, no one cares. Unless they have done something to make them notable, they don't belong here. Corkythehornetfan (Talk) 18:22, 23 December 2014 (UTC)
@Corkythehornetfan: Okay, okay! I got it. I'm sorry, okay? I'm sorry. I didn't realize that it was a big deal. Sorry. Mahjong705 (talk) 13:05, 23 December 2014 (UTC)

I'm not sure who the comment dated November 10, 2014 on the 2014–15 Abilene Christian Wildcats women's basketball team Wiki page advising to check for a logo prior to creating one was directed at, but since my username is the predominant one on the page, I am assuming it was directed at me.

If the intent was to direct the comment to me, I can assure you that it is misdirected. The original logo with the misspelling for Abilene was already on an existing Abilene Christian Wikipedia page when I created the new seasonal page. Anyway thanks for the logo update. Same with some of the other logos files you have changed on other pages. I don't have the tools to create one and only try to pick ones that have already been determined as acceptable for use or are at least currently in use without comment. I'm always appreciative of someone who can improve the page.LUSportsFan (talk) 17:24, 23 December 2014 (UTC)

@LUSportsFan: I believe I was talking towards the uploader of the file, but I don't believe I was speaking towards you. When I made the edit, I didn't even check the history of the page to see who all had edited the page. I've dealt with Abilene Christian articles before regarding the logo. Sorry if you took it that I was talking towards you, but I really wasn't. Besides, don't you know you shouldn't assume? ;) Corkythehornetfan (Talk) 18:17, 23 December 2014 (UTC)

Recent Radio 4 edits

Dear Corkythehornetfan,

I thought I'd message you on your on Talk page as per the guidelines. I received a message stating that my "edits appear to be disruptive" and a note from you saying "please quit adding them; if not, you may be blocked" Please can I confirm that it was not my intention to cause conflict in this matter. I thought I was doing the right thing by re-adding them ('re-adding' being the key word; I wasn't adding them from scratch as the names were already there and have been for a substantial amount of time) but you've suggested otherwise. Let me assure you that I have taken your advice on-board from the 'Talk' section of the R4 page and shall no longer re-add any of the names without any 3rd party sources. However, I don't appreciate the implication that I went out my way to be disruptive as that certainly wasn't the case; I'm sure there are plenty of users on here who go out their way to abuse page content, but that certainly doesn't line up with what I was doing. I ask you, please, to appreciate the fact that my edits held no bad intentions. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.19.152.79 (talk) 20:10, 26 December 2014 (UTC)

That's fine. The names are still going to be removed due to WP:LISTPEOPLE. They may have sources, but most articles dealing with the media are leaning towards those with Wikipedia articles. That is what the users are calling "notable"; people with Wikipedia articles. I'm not sure that you understood what I meant by no primary sources and no published own websites. You cannot use the persons personal website because anyone can make that it is not a third-party source. If you disagreed with it, you should have talked about on the talk page, and not edit war. We both violated it and both could have been blocked, but that didn't happen. You should also see WP:BRD; Be Bold (make the edit), someone Reverts (removes your edit), and then you should Discuss it on the talk page. Corkythehornetfan (Talk) 10:25, 27 December 2014

Question

Dumb question, is it okay to have what I have on my user page?? Might want it deleted. (JoeCool950 (talk) 06:15, 1 January 2015 (UTC))

@JoeCool950: Like I've said before, it is fine, as long as it isn't vandalism. Anything you put there is fine. If you want to know more, you can read this page. It tells you what you may have on your user page. Now if you don't mind, please decide and quit asking me. It is getting annoying, as well as the "Might want it deleted". You know just as much as I do about these things, so there really isn't much I can do. Thanks and have a Happy New Year! Corkythehornetfan (Talk) 06:42, 1 January 2015 (UTC)
Also, it looks like you've asked another editor here, and they've told you the same thing. Two different people, same answer. Corkythehornetfan (Talk) 21:43, 1 January 2015 (UTC)

Fanchon Stinger WXIN Fox59

Hi Corky,

I recently noticed your comments about my request to add "Fanchon Stinger" as a notable on-air talent for Fox59. She is the main female anchor, and currently her station Fox59.com is updating their bios so that might be why you couldn't find a source site. Here are two links to give you more information to know she is notable on air talent. http://www.fanchonstinger.com/about-us/ http://fox59.com/?s=Fanchon+Stinger

Thanks, Kevin — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.15.45.126 (talk) 17:52, 1 January 2015 (UTC)

She isn't notable per WP:LISTPEOPLE. Until she meets those guidelines, she isn't notable. Although she may be notable in the local area/state of WXIN, she isn't notable throughout the United States. Therefore, she shall not be included in the article and until she meets WP:LISTPEOPLE. Also, her own website is a primary source and means nothing to me, as well her biography on the station's website. There would have to be third-party sources if she were to be included. WP:WikiProject Television Stations has decided that if a person does not have a Wikipedia article, they are not notable. Have a Happy New Year! Corkythehornetfan (Talk) 18:00, 1 January 2015 (UTC)

Question about the map you created on the MIAA page?

I was wondering about the map you created on the MIAA page. How did you create it? I am also thinking about creating some maps as well. However, I personally have a preference for the one utilized on the GAC page? Thanks. -UCO2009bluejay (talk) 21:40, 2 January 2015 (UTC)

@UCO2009bluejay: I created it using various blank maps on Commons and then went to a website that allowed me to put the states together (I Googled the locations to try and get them in the correct area). I have also reached out to others to see if they would be willing to make a map, but never heard back. The GAC map is a good one. Corkythehornetfan (Talk) 00:07, 3 January 2015 (UTC)

M3 (Canadian TV channel)

Matt Wells is no longer a personality for M3. Gaby Henderson is the host of the channel yet you keep undoing the edit. [1] — Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.66.109.67 (talk)

Okay, I've removed the current, along with Matt from that section. I also renamed it to "Notable former personalities" because Gaby Henderson is not notable per WP:LISTPEOPLE. As long as you don't add her, we'll be fine. Corkythehornetfan (Talk) 12:54, 6 January 2015 (UTC)

Corky, I'd like to get your opinion on this revised infobox template: [2]. After determining what data points to include, we'll recruit a template editor to handle the coding for us. No I am not. I live in Kansas and have no connection to WRAL-TV. Heck, I had never even heard of the station until I started editing Wikipedia. Drexel Basketball

In the case of the Drexel basketball page, there is no reason to not have the box scores listed as a source along with the final scores of games. There are many major basketball programs that have the box scores included on their team schedule, especially a number of those whose schedules includes the stat leaders in points, rebounds, and assists for each game. While a number of team's schedules do not include the box scores, from what I have seen more pages are adding these box scores over the past few seasons. It does no harm to the page and simply adds a source of information for otherwise unsourced material. By the way, I was responding to your edits via the talk page for the team. I didn't mean to ignore you in any way. In retrospect, I should have contacted you via your talk page and discussed more. If you feel it is necessary I do not have any problem with opening a discussion on WP:WikiProject College basketball. Hopefully it will draw a more universal conclusion as to which format to standardize since it is apparently inconsistent among many team pages. Thanks! --Zach Pepsin (talk) 04:05, 12 January 2015 (UTC)

@Zachlp: Just because a team lists a boxscore on their schedule page, doesn't mean Wikipedia needs to. The template has fields like highest rebounder, highest scorer, etc., which is good enough... they don't need to be linked. I would much rather see the urls be used as references rather than external links. I think it would look much better. In regards to you responding to me by using the talk page for the team, I don't see where you edited on the talk page. All you were doing was talking while reverting, which just causes an edit war and nothing gets accomplished. I'll ask other trusted users who belong to WP:WikiProject College basketball and have them respond on the talk page of the team's article. I think others need involved in this. The Daily Buzz

Hi Corky,

I am writing you from The Daily Buzz and have a few questions about the edits you made on 11/22. Pardon my ignorance as I have almost no experience editing Wiki. What's the best way to get in contact with you? If you can, please call our main phone number located on our mojo brands media website and let them know you are calling about Wiki (they'll know how to find me).

Also, since you seem to have a handle on this - how can i find out about this edit "22:07, 21 December 2014‎ 50.137.204.38 (talk)‎"? I'm trying to find out who is sabotaging our page...thanks! Ng35k (talk) 20:31, 14 January 2015 (UTC)

@Ng35k: Hello. I will not call you, nor will I communicate with you outside of Wikipedia. This is for privacy reasons. The edit made by me on November 22 is pretty simple: WP:LISTPEOPLE. The names were removed because they are not notable per WP:LISTPEOPLE. They did not have a Wikipedia article, nor did they have a reliable source to back them up. As for the edit made on 21 December by the IP, I cannot explain as that was somebody different. If you work for The Daily Buzz, make sure you don't violate conflict of interest when editing and if you are here because you work for the Show, then make sure you do not take ownership of the article. RE: Orphaned non-free image File:Colorado Buffaloes alternate logo.png

What's up Corkythehornet fan!

Thank you for holding me accountable on my Colorado Buffaloes alternate logo image. I fully understand the rule of an orphaned non-free image, however this image does not fall under this category. The following pages show where this image is used: 2014–15 Colorado Buffaloes men's basketball team, 2013–14 Colorado Buffaloes men's basketball team, 2012–13 Colorado Buffaloes men's basketball team, 2011–12 Colorado Buffaloes men's basketball team, 2010–11 Colorado Buffaloes men's basketball team, 2014–15 Colorado Buffaloes men's basketball team, Colorado Buffaloes, 2010 Colorado Buffaloes football team, 2011 Colorado Buffaloes football team, 2012 Colorado Buffaloes football team, 2013 Colorado Buffaloes football team, 2014 Colorado Buffaloes football team.

Unless you know something that I don't, it is to my knowledge that this is not an orphaned non-free image. Please let me know if you have any more concerns, I am more than happy to talk about it. Thanks! --NJ Jurrjens (talk) 03:22, 17 January 2015 (UTC)

@NJ Jurrjens: I think you misunderstood. I didn't tag the File:Colorado Buffaloes alternate logo.gif, but I did tag the File:Colorado Buffaloes alternate logo.png file. The GIF version looks better than the PNG version, so I swapped it out and that left the PNG version unused. Therefore, it is orphaned. Corkythehornetfan (Talk) 19:48, 17 January 2015 (UTC)
@Corkythehornetfan: You are 100% correct, and I once again thank you for holding me accountable. I am fine with the PNG version of that photo being orphaned, since the GIF version looks better. I will let that image run its course, and it will be deleted eventually. Thank you for everything and being so patient! --NJ Jurrjens (talk) 05:49, 18 January 2015 (UTC)

ABC News 24

Had you considered how rude your repeated deletion of of good faith edits WP:GOODFAITH appears.

The edit is not a case of wp:vandalism:

"a deliberate attempt to compromise the integrity of Wikipedia"

&

"Even if misguided, willfully against consensus, or disruptive, any good-faith effort to improve the encyclopedia is not vandalism. Edit warring over content is not vandalism. Careful consideration may be required to differentiate between edits that are beneficial, detrimental but well-intentioned, and vandalizing. Mislabelling good-faith edits as vandalism can be considered harmful."

Vandalism would call for reversion.

Wikpedia policy also says

"In some cases, editors may object if you remove material without giving them time to provide references; consider adding a citation needed tag as an interim step."

That is the normal first response to an un-cited claim, flag it [citation needed], the fact that I did cite it that way, plus my comments indicated I am working on it should have stopped you deleting it, see Wikipedia:Revert_only_when_necessary.

"Revert vandalism upon sight but revert an edit made in good faith only after careful consideration. It is usually preferable to make an edit that retains at least some elements of a prior edit than to revert the prior edit. Furthermore, your bias should be toward keeping the entire edit. "

Just because I have a different editing style does not give you the right to remove content. That is also Wikipedia policy.

Wikipedia:Editing_policy

"Perfection is not required: Wikipedia is a work in progress. Collaborative editing means that incomplete or poorly written first drafts can evolve over time into excellent articles."

However I may choose the first rule, WP:Ignore All Rules. ˥ Ǝ Ʉ H Ɔ I Ɯ (talk) 23:48, 17 January 2015 (UTC)

@Mimarx: I don't think it is rude. If you noticed, I "reverted good faith edits by you" here. I also understand what it says. In most cases, an edit that is added to an article unsourced is usually reverted right away. Why don't you put it in your sandbox, and keep it there until you find sources... reliable sources for that matter. By the way, I never said your edit was "an act of vandalism". I said it was unsourced. Why don't you get your facts right before stating something like that. Corkythehornetfan (Talk) 00:00, 18 January 2015 (UTC)

Map question

I just saw your question on my commons talk page, I pretty much don't go on that side except for image viewing. GACLocations came from the NCAA D2 Basketball Map. I cropped it and used paint to erase locations not in the GAC, very carefully along state lines, then modified the dot size and names for the locations. You won't have to worry about it but I also combined and slightly adjusted the dots for Henderson State and Ouachia Baptist since they are separated only by a 2-lane state highway in Arkadelphia. I had to use the basketball map because Oklahoma Baptist is not on the NCAA D2 Football Map. Although my GAC map does not show OKBU, I have an update ready to upload on July 1 when they officially join the conference. For your work on the MIAA, the football map would be easier to use. The GAC map was fairly easy to make, hope this helps. Msjraz64 (talk) 03:35, 21 January 2015 (UTC)

It is just Wikipedia guidelines... Also, please specify next time what article you are talking about. Thanks. Corkythehornetfan (Talk) 05:24, 23 January 2015 (UTC)
I think that the man who developed broadcasting services for Nigeria should be considered at least as notable as a Texas school or a professional sportsman. WP:LISTPEOPLE states that the criteria for inclusion on a list are the same as for having a Wikipedia article; Which seems wrong to me. I'm sure that all the 3/4/5(question mark) people you deleted do logically belong on that list. 109.145.115.130 (talk) 20:27, 29 January 2015 (UTC)
Well if you think it is wrong, talk about it on the talk page that deals with WP:LISTPEOPLE. I'm sure the people I removed do belong on there, but they don't have an article that establishes their notability. Therefore, they don't belong on the list. @Cuprum17: I created the ESU userbox myself. The way I learned is by the pages I'm linking in the next few sentences... I basically learned as I went. NSU fight song (The best song for any college)

Dear Mr. Corkythehornetfan,

Hello, your recent addition to the article of the NSU Riverhawks page (Woo! GO RIVERHAWKS!) fight song is an understandably wrong change. I am a senior of our beloved NSU and have a 2011 Chevy spark (green and white) with our schools logo and mascot emblazoned onto the front hood and windows. My car horn plays the tune of our fight song. We here at our homely town of Tahlequah know our school song by heart and is a right of passage growing up in these here parts. I attend and rally my friends during every basketball, football, foosball, ultimate frisbee, and volleyball(but we watch it for the players [the men look nice in short shorts]). Once when I was a child my father beat me for getting saying a word wrong and I learned after the third beating to pronounce my words correctly. I am a Riverhawk through and through, I will have you know that I sing our fight song regularly on weekends and holidays as well as every game....I know for a fact that it is STANCH not this word staunch you are making up. -Best regards, William Nickers — Preceding unsigned comment added by 192.173.33.236 (talk) 20:15, 12 February 2015 (UTC)

Thanks for you whole life story... I really don't care. However, you need a reliable source to back your claim up. The reference that is linked to the SCHOOL's athletic website section that has the NSU Fight song says staunch. Unless there is a different reliable source that says otherwise, STAUNCH is staying. Couldn't help but do a "drive by" comment on this. I live in Kansas hard against the Oklahoma border and I have heard "staunch" pronounced "stanch". Since my mom was from Muldrow, Oklahoma, I grew up pronouncing "staunch" as "stanch". Trust me it is a regional thing; the farther south you go the more you will hear it as "stanch" when they are actually meaning "staunch". Cuprum17 (talk) 21:13, 13 February 2015 (UTC)

Minnesota State–Mankato

Hey, I was going to ask for assistance on this matter for clarification. I know the NSIC and (for Mankato) the WCHA call the Mavericks "Minnesota State" but otherwise the two schools are generally known as, including ncaa.com, "Minnesota State-M...". This was clearly evident during the football championship in Kansas City. I believe this is a COMMONNAME issue similar to Louisiana-Lafayette. Also, should the Mavericks team page be moved back to "Minnesota State–Mankato Mavericks" per COMMONNAME? Although I know the difference in the schools, I almost always get confused when I see just "Minnesota State". Thanks for the help. Msjraz64 (talk) 20:38, 24 February 2015 (UTC)

I agree, it is more of a COMMONNAME issue. For right now, I think the Mavericks article should be moved back because there are two Minnesota State schools (Mavericks and Dragons). I've always heard others refer to schools like them as Minnesota State–Mankato. I would ask Dirtlawyer1 or Jweiss11, who have more knowledge about this subject than I do. Truman, Missouri Southern, and Missouri Western.

I was aware that there was discussion on the dropping of state in MSSU, and MWSU for athletics, but I was unaware of any conclusions. Normally I believe we are on much the same page and during your attempted ESU Hornets rename I was completely behind you. However, I was wondering about the TSU/Truman Bulldogs and the MIAA States. I know the Athletic Depts use "Missouri Western," and "Missouri Southern," but I am concerned with WP:Commonname. It may be due to UCO being new to the conference, but in radio/the Vista (newspaper) KFOR[3], etc. seem to use "State." ESPN is much less conclusive [4]. I trust your judgement and I haven't reverted such edits. However, I do believe that a [WP:Commonname] consensus discussion may be necessary, if for nothing else to resolve this issue. It could be as simple as a Middle Tennessee, and Bowling Green (State) issue, and not a U(Louisiana)-Lafayette. I have no preference either way, but do think that a discussion is inevitable. Regards.UCO2009bluejay (talk) 00:29, 17 March 2015 (UTC)

I know and I see where you are coming from. If you feel a discussion would be better, I'll be glad to discuss and have an open discussion; I don't have a problem with that. When referring to ESPN, we need to be careful (in my opinion). Yes they are considered a reliable source, but they still call Central Missouri "Central Missouri State", which hasn't been its name since 2006. For as long as I can remember, the MIAA and athletic depts. of the MIAA have always referred to Truman State University athletics as just 'Truman' or 'Truman Bulldogs' or even when referring to the school in general. I know Truman State University even states that "the only acceptable shortened name is Truman". (Of course that is just what the school wants when their name is publicized, but still...) On March 15th you changed the colors for the UAB Blazers athletics teams. The changes are erroneous and will be corrected. The colors you wrongly assumed were correct are indeed the official colors of the University itself, but not the colors used by the Department of Athletics at UAB, as evidenced on page 6 of the official media guide for the 2014-15 men's basketball team at this link ...http://issuu.com/uabsports/docs/guide2014-15

The official colors of the athletic teams are Forest Green and Old Gold. Yes there is a reason for the differing colors which involved former athletic director Gene Bartow and his desire for more consistency of the gold color in discussions with the uniform manufacturer at the time, Russell Athletics. He was told that the shade of bright yellow gold the Blazers wore at the time was not a standard color and would vary from run to run. At that time (1991) the school and athletic department decided to drop the gold from the official colors (which were the same for both at that time) to forest green and white. Subsequently Russell Athletic came back to the school with a solution to the "gold" problem...if UAB would choose a commonly used golden shade (they chose the old gold worn by Georgia Tech), it could be consistently guaranteed. At that point Coach Bartow restored the shade of old gold to the athletic departments official colors as it remains today. The school itself did not re-institute gold and have since tweeked the green to a shade closer to evergreen. A change that was not matched by the athletics department. The previously listed colors were the correct colors and have been/will be restored.

Please do not attempt to change things you have an incomplete knowledge off and have not thoroughly researched. I have opened a discussion of this issue on the main UAB wiki page.

FYI: The official UAB athletic hex colors from the UAB athletics website are listed below:

Green - #006645 Gold - #D2C476 White - #ffffff

These hex colors may be verified by investigating the style guide of the official UAB athletics department webpages at www.uabsports.com — Preceding unsigned comment added by Blazerjay (talkcontribs) 04:25, 19 March 2015 (UTC)

Blazerjay, First off, You have no clue whatsoever whether or not I researched or what I did before I changed those colors. Before I go changing the schools colors, I search and search to make sure I have the right colors. I realize the athletics colors are Forest Green and Old Gold; I saw that, I'm not sure why I changed it (so thanks for catching that much). As for the hex codes being on the athletics website, where are they located? I'm not sure where you get the Green and gold at, but I when I do it, I get different codes than you. And since how you are telling me the colors are wrong, by you saying Green and gold is wrong; they are Forrest green and Old gold. This is what makes me believe that they are the same for as the university. If you cannot provide a link to the athletics hex codes you've listed above, then I will go off of what is on the logo. You would need to provide a reliable source for the above information about the color change; Otherwise I think you've just made it up. As for the navbox box colors at the bottom of the university article, that is the university colors, so don't change that.
After looking at your contributions, I find it funny and odd that you seem to edit the article after almost seven years of not editing. Then all of a sudden someone has edited this article and you seem to resurrect. Seems odd to me. As for your username, are you a fan of UAB or do you work there? You seem to know a lot of information about this. Also, when you comment on MY talk page, please sign it with ~~~~. Corkythehornetfan | Chat? 05:37, 19 March 2015 (UTC)

Louisiana Tech's colors

I'm not sure why you are changing all of Louisiana Tech's colors and all. Blue is Louisiana Tech's primary color, and red is the secondary color. Yet you changed all of the blue to make it red dominant. -AllisonFoley (talk) 06:08, 20 March 2015 (UTC)

I'm just going off of this and this. I've also posted on your talk page regarding the Lady Techsters colors. Corkythehornetfan | Chat? 06:12, 20 March 2015 (UTC)

KCNC-TV Logo Cropped At Its Full Size

I've uploaded a full-sized cropped version of the Logo for KCNC-TV, just so it reaches your attention. If you still feel that the logo needs to be "Reduced" (even though it's apparently not a Non-Free image), then I guess you may revert it back to the prior version you had just uploaded earlier today…Because the image doesn't seem to qualify for copyright/Non-Free status, I'm uncertain and unsure about why it would still need to be reduced, as I'm sort of new here at Wikipedia (although, I do know that I upload complicated-looking logo images as Non-Free Images)… DizzyMosquitoRadio99 (talk) 14:30, 22 March 2015 (UTC)

DizzyMosquitoRadio99, I knew it was gonna reduces it some, but didn't realize it would remove that much... I just cropped out the excess space from it. I don't see any reason as to why it need reduced anymore because it is in the Public Domain. Corky | Chat? 06:14, 23 March 2015 (UTC)
To Corky… I used This Free Online Application which allowed me to crop away excess blank space WHILE ALSO leaving the image at its original resolution. May this exact same application serve as a useful tool for you… DizzyMosquitoRadio99 (talk) 06:20, 23 March 2015 (UTC)
I use a couple of different online programs, but that works just as well. Corky | Chat? 06:22, 23 March 2015 (UTC)

Infobox college football player

Corky, do you have time to start checking a sizable number of the college football player articles that use Template:Infobox college football player over the next couple of days? There have been significant changes to the template coding in the past 48 hours, and we need to check a big sample of the articles that presently use the template and keep a list of any problems with how it being displayed or any problems with the input data that needs to be edited. Any time you have to devote to this in the next day or so would be greatly appreciated. Cheers. Dirtlawyer1 (talk) 01:16, 23 March 2015 (UTC)

Dirtlawyer1, I'll start later today. Corky | Chat? 06:14, 23 March 2015 (UTC)
The biggest problems I'm seeing so far are not the template, but the fact that many uses of the template are missing key input data like position, class year, birth date (or at least birth year), etc. Do what you can, but keep a list of everything you see that needs work. Cheers. Dirtlawyer1 (talk) 13:30, 23 March 2015 (UTC)

FYI

Hello C. I saw the question you posted on Materialscientist's talk page. I wanted to give you a link to this page Wikipedia:Template messages/User talk namespace. Now, sometimes you have to do some searching to find the right warning - the one you wanted, for example, is kinda buried lower down on the page. You may already know about this page so my apologies for providing repeat info if that is the case. Cheers and happy editing. MarnetteD|Talk 21:41, 25 March 2015 (UTC)

MarnetteD, it looks kinda familiar, but I can't remember if I've actually been to the page before. Thanks for letting me know about it! Corky | Chat? 21:52, 25 March 2015 (UTC)
You are welcome. MarnetteD|Talk 21:54, 25 March 2015 (UTC)

College of the ozarks

Why do you keep deleting Thomas Schexnayder from notable alums on the College of the Ozarks page? Leblancdrew (talk) 00:45, 26 March 2015 (UTC) Leblancdrew.

Leblancdrew, he isn't notable per WP:ALMAMATER. He doesn't have an article, which in order for him to be notable on here, he should at least have an article. Plus, your addition is unsourced. It would need a reliable source to back it up, but we usually only list names that have a Wikipedia article. When I googled this guy, he really isn't notable as not much pops up. Unless you can provide evidence that he is notable (enough to have an article), I don't believe he is notable and he shall not be listed. Corky | Chat? 00:50, 26 March 2015 (UTC)

Thanks!

Thanks for keeping up (and cleaning up) behind my edits. I'm doing my best to learn all the ins and outs of good Wikipedia editing, and your comments have certainly helped. LoremIpsumDolorSitAsmet (talk) 03:18, 27 March 2015 (UTC)

No problem! Thanks for Editing those articles. Keep in mind that some files that are non-free like the seals cannot be very large (i.e. 600px), so they will need to be reduced to a smaller size. Let me know if you have questions; I'll do my best to answer them. Corky | Chat? 03:47, 27 March 2015 (UTC)

College Basketball on NBC

Hi Corky, I can tell you that both Steve Grote and Dan Spika were part of NBC's college basketball coverage. Grote was a member of Michigan's 1976 national runner up basketball team. In 1981 Grote replaced Fred Taylor on NBC's Big Ten telecast with Bob Costas his broadcast partner. After that season, Grote joined CBS's college basketball broadcasts, with Taylor rejoining NBC and being paired with Costas. Dan Spika was a former player and coach at North Texas, and replaced Rudy Davalos as Frank Fallon's broadcast partner on Southwest Conference games on NBC in 1982. I hope this helps. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Celticsfellow (talkcontribs) 15:39, 29 March 2015 (UTC)

Cool, but they aren't notable WP:LISTPEOPLE. Corky | Chat? 16:22, 29 March 2015 (UTC)
Why do they have to be notable? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Celticsfellow (talkcontribs) 16:40, 29 March 2015 (UTC)
Celticsfellow, because Wikipedia has guidelines that you must follow and according to WP:BLPNOTE, people need to be notable. If they are not notable, why should we care who they are? Quite frankly, I don't give a darn who Steve and Dan are, as I've never heard of them until I came across this article. I'll give you a quote from another user:
In other words -- Don't add names that do not have an article! If you think they are notable, then create one and hope that it passes the requirements for an article to stay.
Also, you don't need to create a new section each time you respond; just reply to this section. AND when you are done, PLEASE sign your name with the ~~~~. Thanks you. Corky | Chat? 17:06, 29 March 2015 (UTC)
Okay I will try to do an article on both Celticsfellow (talk) 17:19, 29 March 2015 (UTC)
Make sure it passes WP:BLPNOTE with reliable sources. Until they are created and have established their notability, do not put them back into the article. Corky | Chat? 17:29, 29 March 2015 (UTC)
Just did an article on Steve Grote. If you can help make it better and passable, it would be a help. Celticsfellow (talk) 18:13, 29 March 2015 (UTC)
I'll check it out later, as I'm working on other things right now. Also, when replying on here, please make a new line, just like I've been doing. It's pretty common sense and it would be much appreciated if you were doing it. Corky | Chat? 18:18, 29 March 2015 (UTC)
Okay, if you can make my article better, it can be very helpful.Celticsfellow (talk) 18:21, 29 March 2015 (UTC)
Celticsfellow, did you even read what I've listed above? I'm not going to help at this point because you didn't listen. You need reliable sources to back up your claim that he is notable. With his article having no sources, it could be marked for deletion. Right now, he not going to be in the article. Corky | Chat? 18:23, 29 March 2015 (UTC)
Those are reliable sources. What more do you need? Celticsfellow (talk) 18:27, 29 March 2015 (UTC)
Where are the reliable sources? The page doesn't have any sources; please Read WP:RELIABLE or WP:SOURCES. The article about Steve Grote is unsourced, meaning there are no sources. Just like when you write a research paper for a college course, you have to have a works cited. Having sources, that are reliable, is like that. In this case, you would have a "References" section at the bottom of the page. This is Common sense. If no sources can be provided, I or someone else will mark it for deletion because he isn't notable. Corky | Chat? 18:33, 29 March 2015 (UTC)

Color graphics for Infobox college football player

3-pixel accent with white text
Emporia State Hornets

Corky, here's a taste of how the revamped infobox is going: Template:Infobox college football player/testcases#Joe Cool (typical example). What do you think of the colors, graphics, and layout and design? Dirtlawyer1 (talk) 16:42, 1 April 2015 (UTC)

I like it, Dirtlawyer1; you've done a great job on it! I like how the personal information is now towards the bottom, just like the politicians are. I'd rather see their career info at the top (like you've done) and personal stuff towards the bottom. As for my concerns, there isn't much but the colors. I do like the secondary colors, but I wonder about the schools that have an odd color combination. For example, the ones that come to mind are those with a dark blue (or black) and dark gold/yellow... or the ones that have to have white as a third color in the module. Other than that, great work! Corky | Chat? 18:16, 1 April 2015 (UTC)
Here's an example near and dear to your heart. We might want to contemplate changing the text to white for better contrast (we can do that now, while preserving gold accents). Cheers, you old Hornet! Dirtlawyer1 (talk) 18:21, 1 April 2015 (UTC)
Thanks, it looks good! I'm thinking the white text would be better, so I've gone ahead and added the white for contrast. Does that look better? Corky | Chat? 18:27, 1 April 2015 (UTC)
Yup. Black, gold and white work well as team colors. You can't get better contrast for legibility/readability than white text reversed out of a solid black background. And with the gold secondary stripes, there's no reason to use gold for the text. Dirtlawyer1 (talk) 18:31, 1 April 2015 (UTC)
Agreed. Corky | Chat? 20:39, 1 April 2015 (UTC)

Question

How is it possible to get colors from Module:College color/data onto Template:Infobox MLB player? For example, Nathan Kirby's infobox should have Virginia colors.Joeykai (talk) 01:35, 4 April 2015 (UTC)

I'm not sure, Joeykai. You might as User:Frietjes about it; she deals with all of that. I think you'd have to change the infobox because the Module is for College, not the Pros. Do you know why he has MLB player infobox when he hasn't played in the MLB? Corky | Chat? 02:58, 4 April 2015 (UTC)

2014 MIAA page

I noticed that Darrell Morris doesn't have an article. That would fill out the roster for the 2014 MIAA page. I know that was a pet project of yours for a while.UCO2009bluejay (talk) 04:12, 4 April 2015 (UTC)

It was, but I forgot all about it (as I probably moved to something else). I might create it at a different date, unless you want to create it? Corky | Chat? 04:37, 4 April 2015 (UTC)
I don't think we should rush it. We have our projects at the moment. Eventually we should create/collaborate on it, but like I said no real rush. I just thought that you might have wanted to give it a go.UCO2009bluejay (talk) 04:48, 4 April 2015 (UTC)

FYI

I noticed something you were involved in researched it and came across this, [5]. I am sure you came across it but wanted to let you know, because it reminds me of the MSSU page editing recently. I wonder what the precidents of such moves will be.UCO2009bluejay (talk) 02:26, 7 April 2015 (UTC)

I've dealt with the user before, but they don't respond. I don't what will happen, but the thing is there is a lot of university/college articles with seals and there are a lot of editors who have added them over the years. I'm not sure if questions should be asked at WP:WikiProject Universities or what. My opinion, if a university doesn't want their seal to be used, then they shouldn't have it where people can access it. Thanks for the heads up, though, as I didn't see that one. That person is the only person I've seen that has had a problem with a seal being used on the Wikipedia article. Corky | Chat? 02:52, 7 April 2015 (UTC)
I just asked Dirtlawyer his opinion because as we know he is a resident expert on userboxes. His opinion is that said user may be right with the university seal. I really didn't have an opinion as far as WTAMU goes. My opinion is if a university doesn't want it there it is well within their right to ask for its removal. I was wondering if somehow the plethora of such seals, including our respective institutions were inappropriately added into the infoboxes, and a mass purge would soon need to be in order. I never mess with images (save moving an image on the page into the infobox if it makes sense to place it there.)UCO2009bluejay (talk) 03:47, 7 April 2015 (UTC)
UCO2009bluejay, you are totally right, and I agree that they have the right to say no. I definitely respect that. I think we should also look into athletic logos, too, as some of them are like the seals and say that permission is required in order to use them. Some, if not most, universities allow their logos to be downloaded, and if thats the case, then they are basically giving permission to use them. Who should be asked about this situation or where should it be brought up at? Corky | Chat? 14:31, 7 April 2015 (UTC)
I don't know. I am not a fair use expert. I know some fair use rationale is necessary on uploaded images, but I don't know if we should be proactive either. However, I don't think your statement about universities allowing logos to be downloaded therefore it is allowed to be used necessarily follows. But I know that some items such as the KU Jayhawks are more restricted compared to the OU logo, or KU lettermark. So I don't know how far fair use goes. If you are asking if we should ask, absolutely but I don't know whom to ask. If you are asking if we should be proactive and replacing these, absolutely not, they were here for a reason, and it should be discussed before we remove them. But if need be I will be obliged to help.UCO2009bluejay (talk) 17:04, 7 April 2015 (UTC)
But I imagine a limited level of free use is allowed just a quick browse of logos of corporations at tv stations and the logos are used. As far as athletic logos are concerned I (uninformed opinion) think that these are similar, but university seals I am not sure if they do infact have a logo for the university. Now that I think about it I think a question to WP:Univiersities wouldn't be the worst idea. But this is why I don't mess with logos, to much red tape, as apposed to another version of red tape which would make it easier.UCO2009bluejay (talk) 17:10, 7 April 2015 (UTC)

Re: UCentral COI

Yes, I concur. And I've alerted User:Materialscientist about this and possible Sock violations. COI is something I take very seriously. Although I have UCO and you have ESU close to our hearts, and we will always take great care of these articles. We also look after other areas especially other MIAA schools. No person can be completely unbiased and we each have our favorites, but blatant promotion is something we do not stand for, and something we cannot allow. If these sources can be properly cited I am all for elaboration on a topic. It is my goal to eventually get UCO, UCO Bronchos, UCO football, UCO lists, Wantland Stadium, HFH, and even UCentral etc. upgraded talk page classes and even up to Featured status if at all possible. But I don't think that unsourced, and unfair advertising is the way to get info out there.UCO2009bluejay (talk) 22:35, 7 April 2015 (UTC)

Thanks, I've replied on your talk page. I agree with you as far as the advertising goes; that is definitely not the way to go! Corky | Chat? 22:59, 7 April 2015 (UTC)

MVC men's soccer navbox problem

I have no idea why & could not figure out how to correct the problem, but your adding color completely blanked out list1, the full MVC members... I reverted your edit, but if you can get it to work, go ahead and do it again... GWFrog (talk) 05:53, 18 April 2015 (UTC)

GWFrog: Thanks, I didn't see that when I made the edit. I think the problem was that I added the group style below List1 instead of above it. I've re-added the color scheme and hopefully everything is still listed. Let me know if it isn't and I'll look at it again. Corky | Chat? 05:57, 18 April 2015 (UTC)

Haha! Ummm... yeah, that's quite the name they chose! Corky | Chat? 21:55, 25 April 2015 (UTC)

Hey

Corky, I've reverted this change: [7]. Four or five years ago, when we were implementing the then-new uniform football navboxes, several editors wanted to use a completely uniform color scheme for the football navboxes, inside and out. I argued against this, using the Gators as an example that for some color schemes it simply looked better when the box interiors reversed the colors. People missed and moaned, but everyone was afraid that if every box weren't 100% the same, that it would somehow lead to constant tampering, etc. Anyhow, the long and the short of it was that the University of Florida and the Florida Gators sports programs had a well-developed family of boxes that already used the reverse color scheme for the box interiors. We went along with the "all blue with orange highlights" scheme for the football box for the sake of keeping peace in the family; all the rest of the UF boxes retained their original blue outside, orange inside scheme, as they always had. Dirtlawyer1 (talk) 00:14, 13 May 2015 (UTC)

That's fine. Because all hell was raised when I changed several football navboxes using different color schemes, I figured it would be only a matter of time before others change university navboxes. I won't mention the other users names, but I fought them until I gave in because I was (and still am) against using just one color scheme for the background and a secondary as the border. Thanks for letting me know! Corky | Chat? 00:26, 13 May 2015 (UTC)
Oh, I know who "they" are. "They" include one of my bestest WP:CFB buds. Like I said, I was one of the two or three big WP:CFB proponents of the uniform football boxes in 2010, not realizing that this would require blue in and blue out. The other boxes, of course, are not the provenance of WP:CFB, but WikiProject University of Florida, and that's the way it has rested ever since. Peace in the valley. Dirtlawyer1 (talk) 00:42, 13 May 2015 (UTC)

Hey mate

Hi, pardon my ignorance but what was the reason why my Sky News Weather Channel logo upload was deleted? I would have thought a transparent png was a better option than the 'noisy', non-transparent jpg that was previously up there. Cheers. Gibbsyspin 13:15, 13 May 2015 (UTC)

Gibbsyspin, I agree with you about the png as a better option. I was not sure what was wrong at the time, all I know is that it there was nothing there when you replaced the .jpg version. I've looked at your contributions and placed the correct file name into the infobox. It should be fixed now. When looking at the contributions and the revision history, it looks like you forgot to remove 'Channel' from the file name in the article. Hope that helps. Corky | Chat? 13:34, 13 May 2015 (UTC)

Color changes

? Dirtlawyer1 (talk) 00:02, 16 May 2015 (UTC)

I was changing them in the rivalry articles to update to the school colors. If you'd prefer that I stop, I will. If you feel like they need reverted, go ahead and revert them or I can. Corky | Chat? 00:23, 16 May 2015 (UTC)
FYI: Module:College color/data is the official list for Wikipedia college sports articles. Most, if not all, of these color choices are based on the universities or athletic departments' selection of hex and/or Pantone colors. The college varsity stripe graphics for Infobox college football player and all of the college sports navboxes use these color combinations. Dirtlawyer1 (talk) 01:40, 16 May 2015 (UTC)
Thanks, I know about and have edited the Module. The articles I was updating were those that don't have the automatic table (which I don't want to mess with so I'll leave that to others). Once I've updated the colors (from the school's website) in the main athletic articles, I usually head to the Module. Corky | Chat? 02:04, 16 May 2015 (UTC)

BTW, I hate the new Florida State colors -- what were they thinking? The new "garnet" is closer to purple, and the new gold provides little contrast and seems to disappear entirely on certain backgrounds and in certain combinations. Big mistake -- next time they should hire professionals who know what they're doing. Dirtlawyer1 (talk) 02:23, 16 May 2015 (UTC)

I was about to say something about the colors on WP:CFB but I'm glad I found this thread. It looks purple to me. I found this[8] (be sure to mute your computer when you view it DL). But apparently purple was prominent for FSC. But I don't know what was so bad about the shiny gold and crimson. That is how I'll always remember the powerhouse 90s and early 2000s Seminoles.UCO2009bluejay (talk) 04:38, 16 May 2015 (UTC)
I couldn't find the new hex colors on the FSU website, but I did find several related sites that had them. This is what FSU wants; we don't to get to convince them otherwise. For what it's worth, the colors do look better as letterhead. For sports uniforms? No so much. Dirtlawyer1 (talk) 04:50, 16 May 2015 (UTC)
I'd agree with ya! I don't like purple anyway, and the garnet is an even more reason to not like it! Corky | Chat? 12:51, 16 May 2015 (UTC)
The previous "garnet" used by FSU was brighter and slightly redder (less dull purple), and the previous gold was certainly brighter and less dull. Dirtlawyer1 (talk) 13:14, 16 May 2015 (UTC)
Dirtlawyer1, I have a question... why is that when #CEB888 is displayed in the article infoboxes it shows the gold color (e.g.  ), but when it is displayed in the module it looks green (see Template:Florida State University)? I just checked and they are they same hex code, just looks different. Corky | Chat? 14:44, 16 May 2015 (UTC)
I noticed it when were doing the new college varsity stripes several weeks ago. It's apparently an optical illusion from the interplay of the garnet and gold in close proximity: bad color choices by FSU. Dirtlawyer1 (talk) 14:58, 16 May 2015 (UTC)
Alrighty, thanks! Definitely a horrible choice by 'em! Corky | Chat? 15:10, 16 May 2015 (UTC)

Dirtlawyer1: please see {this}. I did some messing around with the FSU colors on an example template in my sandbox and I don't think it's an optical illusion (Although it still could be!) The secondary color w/the module shows that green color and when I don't use the template, the #CEB888 shows the gold. The templates will explain everything... Corky | Chat? 21:43, 17 May 2015 (UTC)

Good work. You, sir, win a cookie. There was a typo in the color module, reversing the B and E in the hex color code for the Seminoles' gold: [9]. Fixed. Dirtlawyer1 (talk) 01:05, 18 May 2015 (UTC)
Hmmm... Not sure how I missed that. Thanks for fixing it! It was bothering me if you couldn't tell! Corky | Chat? 01:30, 18 May 2015 (UTC)
For the same damn reason I missed it. Looks better than it did, but still not great. At least FSU gets what the wanted? Dirtlawyer1 (talk) 03:07, 18 May 2015 (UTC)
Yeah, I guess you could say that! Corky | Chat? 03:29, 18 May 2015 (UTC)

USC Trojans football navbox

Corky, I see you changed the colors for Template:USC Trojans football navbox from a two-color scheme to a three-color scheme with white font. Are you planning on making the same change for the rest of the USC Trojans navboxes; see: Category:USC Trojans navigational boxes? Thanks, Jweiss11 (talk) 21:04, 19 May 2015 (UTC)

Jweiss11, yes I am. I plan on doing it shortly. Corky | Chat? 21:06, 19 May 2015 (UTC)
Sounds good. Was there a discussion or consensus, with contrast issues in mind, about changing all two-color scheme navboxes with fairly readable fonts (e.g. yellow) to a three-color scheme with white font? Jweiss11 (talk) 21:20, 19 May 2015 (UTC)
I'm not sure; I was basically going off of the CFP infoboxes. The white contrast of white looks better for the USC colors. I can stop if you think thats what needs to happen. I was just being bold and changing it and if someone disagrees and reverts, then I'll be glad to talk about it. Corky | Chat? 21:34, 19 May 2015 (UTC)
Corky, I've got no objection here if you're changing all the navboxes for a given school in like fashion, and that is what you are doing. Thanks for your work here. Jweiss11 (talk) 15:36, 20 May 2015 (UTC)
I was confused at first an reverted one, and then came here to see what's up. I think in general, the red/yellow works better for USC. I think it should be that way unless there's a good argument for using red/white... White is a secondary USC color, but red/yellow is widely used by USC all the time. Thoughts? Embowaf (talk) 03:19, 20 May 2015 (UTC)
Although I am not a fan of the gold border, just because you can't really see it, I do think the current version (three colors) work best as it has better contrast. It is a LOT more readable (and looks cleaner). Just my thoughts. Corky | Chat? 03:59, 20 May 2015 (UTC)
FYI, guys, white text on the USC "cardinal" red background provides a clearly better contrast: Module:College color/data. In about 80-90% of all cases, white text reversed out of the darker team color provides a better contrast for text. And since most college teams use white or off-white as one their secondary uniform colors, it's usually completely consistent. Dirtlawyer1 (talk) 04:28, 20 May 2015 (UTC)

Frietjes created the table with text-background contrast calculations between (a) team colors as background and text, (b) darker team color background and white text, and (c) lighter team color background and black text. As I said, white text on darker team color yielded better contrast about 80-90% of the time, with the two team colors being a push in a minority of cases, and black text on lighter team being the best contrast option in a small minority of cases. A medium orange background presented the biggest challenges; black text on orange was great for Princeton (team colors), but looked hideous for Tennessee, so we accepted a small group of cases where black text yielded marginally better contrast than white (or lighter team color) text, but we used white text anyway. Dirtlawyer1 (talk) 04:49, 20 May 2015 (UTC)
I just don't think that it's really that huge of a difference in this case. The yellow on red background is still pretty clear, and is a distinctly USC color scheme. While white is a secondary USC color (as it is for most schools), you just don't see USC use that combination very often. Especially not white text on a red background. That looks pretty Stanford or Alamaba-y. Embowaf (talk) 08:48, 20 May 2015 (UTC)
Actually, the USC golden yellow text on a USC cardinal red background yields a color contrast ratio of 5.9; the white text on the USC cardinal red yields a color contrast ratio of 8.92. That over 50% better. Please note that we are prominently preserving the distinctive team colors by using the USC golden yellow as a graphic highlight for all USC navboxes. My alma maters (Florida and Virginia) both have blue and orange as their team colors; in both cases, they are using white text reversed out of a blue background because it provides a superior contrast.

I don't think anyone is going to confuse USC with Alabama or Stanford. Dirtlawyer1 (talk) 09:31, 20 May 2015 (UTC)

I agree with Dirtlawyer. Like I said, it also looks a lot cleaner. Corky | Chat? 09:42, 20 May 2015 (UTC)
Also, I'm not sure how a person would confuse USC with Alabama or Stanford when neither of those two teams have gold as one of their colors, Embowaf... Corky | Chat? 09:42, 20 May 2015 (UTC)
Sorry for being a little unclear. I don't mind the changes to the nav box. It's the info boxes, such as the on here [USC_Trojans_baseball|USC Baseball]]. There's no yellow at all in these outside of the team logo. And I don't think people would be "confused" over what they're looking at, and think it's Stanford. I just mean that USC (and other schools) have a consistent identity that they push, and the removal of yellow from the infobox, in this case, strongly diminishes that. Embowaf (talk) 16:14, 20 May 2015 (UTC)
@Embowaf: There's a behind-the-scenes effort under way to create a common infobox for all NCAA sports teams, with appropriate variations an options for each sport. When we're done, it will include the college stripe graphics, as shown above, as section headers, and it will share common colors, graphics, and layout and design for all college sports teams. So, when we're done, the infoboxes for USC basketball, USC football, USC baseball, USC swimming, etc., will all look very similar. Bear with us; these things take time. With a little luck the new NCAA sports team infoboxes will be ready for all sports by the end of the summer. In the mean time, it doesn't make a lot of sense to spend time fixing the old ones -- they're all going away in a few months. Dirtlawyer1 (talk) 16:28, 20 May 2015 (UTC)
Didn't know that; thanks. Embowaf (talk) 18:31, 20 May 2015 (UTC)

I'm not. Don't really know how that works. Not exactly new to this, as I've been editing for years, but never really dove into the community part. Embowaf (talk) 18:02, 21 May 2015 (UTC)

CU Buffs

Curious who "they" are as to why I can't place the primary CU logo on the Colorado Buffaloes page? I have authority to grant permission to use that logo. I'm also fairly new to this and not super educated on how to make such things work, is there a process you can help me find how to get the primary logo approved for use? Thx . C$ (talk) 22:40, 19 May 2015 (UTC)

It was on Wikimedia Commons, and the website says "Who Needs A License? Anyone wishing to use the marks, logos and symbols of the University of Colorado must obtain a license." If you do have permission to use it, you'd have to prove that you have permission. It isn't coming to me right now how you do that so you might want to ask an administrator. Newsnight editors

Hello, You have deleted the names of editors of the British news programme Newsnight, so there are now gaps. The last gap - from 1997-2001 is the period when the only female editor, Sian Kevill, was editor. Since this is a significant programme, which still airs, it would be useful to have a complete list of its editors, and not delete them because one or two do not have their own page. Would you agree? Thank you, and keep up the good work In the meantime, I will add her back in. Jeremy — Preceding unsigned comment added by JeremyNye (talkcontribs) 20:23, 30 May 2015 (UTC)

Hi Corkythehornetfan, my name is SeminoleNation and I think the work you did with gathering the official logos was awesome. I think you're a great editor and I wanted to personally ask you for guidance in finding an official FSU Seminoles logo back on the page because apparently another editor had a problem with it. Could you please help me out?--SeminoleNation (talk) 16:20, 31 May 2015 (UTC)

@SeminoleNation: I would love too, but according to this, the official logo (File:FSU Seminoles logo.png) cannot be added because it violates WP:NFCC#8, WP:NFC#UUI §14 and WP:NFC#UUI §17. They state the following:
  • NFCC#8 – Contextual significance. Non-free content is used only if its presence would significantly increase readers' understanding of the article topic, and its omission would be detrimental to that understanding.
  • NFC#UUI §14 – A logo of a perennial event (or of its sponsoring company), used to illustrate an article about a specific instance of that event. If each instance has its own logo, such specific logos remain acceptable.
  • NFC#UUI §17 – The logo of a entity used for identification of one of its child entities, when the child entity lacks their own branding. Specific child entity logos remain acceptable.
I'd suggest talking with TLSuda or Stefan2. Right now, I think that the alternate logos would be the best logo to use for the other team articles. Corkythehornetfan 16:43, 31 May 2015 (UTC)

Hey, SeminoleNation. I'm one of Corky's talk page stalkers. The Seminole head logo, like the Gator head logo, is a trademarked and copyrighted image owned by the university, and as such is subject to Wikipedia's non-free image policy per WP:NFCC. There was a Big Stink several years ago over the use of the Gator head logo, which at the time was being used on the Florida Gators athletic program article, all 16 of the primary articles for the Gators sports teams, all rivalry articles, all season articles, all bowl game articles, etc. All told, it was literally being used on close to 100 articles. The NFCC copyvio people were going nuts because use of non-free images is supposed to be extremely limited, justified in each use as irreplaceable, and documented in each case with a "fair use rationale" (FUR). I fought it tooth and nail, so that the logo could at least be used on the sports program and each of the 16 primary team articles. Ultimately, after a lot of back and forth, etc., the compromise was struck that we would purge the Gator head logo from all of the season, rivalry, and bowl game articles, and they would shut up and leave the primary team articles alone. As far as I know the Gator head logo is used more than any other NCAA non-free team logo, but its paperwork is in order, and each of the current 17 uses has a properly written FUR on the File:Florida Gators logo.svg. Suffice it to say, we've done our part to maintain the compromise; we strip the Gator head logo from any rivalry, bowl game or season article when some newbie adds it, and we use the free-image script Gators logo on everything but the primary team articles. Ping me if you have any questions. Dirtlawyer1 (talk) 18:34, 31 May 2015 (UTC)

Did you take them? If you took them, you can upload them to Commons as your own work. If you didn't take them, you'll have to provide proof to the Commons:OTRS team that you have permission and upload it with the correct license. Some pictures have certain tags like all US Gov't pictures have their own tag, or those before 1923. I don't usually upload pictures like the championship banner, but I mainly work on logos. I don't know too much about this, just enough to get the job done! Corkythehornetfan 22:56, 9 June 2015 (UTC)

Linking to United States in infobox

Where does it say that we aren't supposed to link to the page United States in an infobox?--Prisencolinensinainciusol (talk) 23:27, 19 June 2015 (UTC)

@Prisencolinensinainciusol: I didn't say we aren't supposed to link US in the infobox, I'm just saying it usually isn't. Most university articles I've come across when editing do not have it linked. Corkythehornetfan 23:30, 19 June 2015 (UTC)
(tps) Please forgive the intrusion C. The relevant policy is WP:OVERLINK. Specifically bullet point two "the names of major geographic features and locations". The policy came about somewhere between 06 to 08. I didn't agree with it at the time but I came to accept it. Prisencolinensinainciusol I would just say be careful about linking items that might fall under the "overlink" policy. IMO it isn't worth getting in trouble over. Now I know we've never met before so I know nothing of your editing. Thus, I want to apologize if my advice causes offense. Cheers to you both. MarnetteD|Talk 23:47, 19 June 2015 (UTC)

Carol Martin on Weekend Today

Hi, I see that you removed Carol Martin from the list of former Weekend Today personnel. Are you saying that she wasn't there, or that she's not notable? If she was there but not deemed notable (and I'm not sure I agree with that), then the list is incomplete and should be retitled "Notable" former personnel. I get the idea of WP:LISTPEOPLE, but given that there haven't been all that many anchors in the weekend show's history, I'm not sure there's any reason to have anything other than a complete list without judgment as to their notability. Thanks. 67.197.243.87 (talk) 13:09, 22 June 2015 (UTC)

I'm just saying she didn't meet WP's guidelines. If you would like to re-add her, you can provide a reliable source to back it up. If not, then you can rename the section to "Notable former personnel". Corkythehornetfan 13:13, 22 June 2015 (UTC)

Reason for telling you

I told you about that because you readded content to the talk page that here that GalaxyFighter55 removed from their talk page here. If someone removes content from their talk page, do not readd it. -- GB fan 13:38, 22 June 2015 (UTC)

GB fan: I didn't re-add any information from the this version, but I did re-add content to his/her talk page that was removed in this edit from ThatKongregateGuy. Please look at the user's talk page history, again. The only other edit I made before the first revision mentioned above was here – dated April 14, 2015. Corkythehornetfan 13:43, 22 June 2015 (UTC)
Yeah, I see that now. I saw where you content in signed by GalaxyFighter55 and thought you were readding something. I see not that you were copying something from your talk page and making it look like GalaxyFighter55 put it there even though they didn't. It made it look strange. I apologize for the warning. -- GB fan 13:46, 22 June 2015 (UTC)
No problem. It does look strange, but he didn't follow my talk page rules and so I just moved the conversation back to their page. (I probably could've just removed his comments from my page and just add my comment to his page, but I guess I decided to keep his comments within the discussion.) I will also apologize for removing your first comments here; it was pretty rude of me to do that. Corkythehornetfan 13:57, 22 June 2015 (UTC)
But what happens when two editors have different talk page rules. One says that the conversations should stay where they start at and one says that I post to your talk page and you post to my talk page, whose rules govern? It didn't bother me. I got the message, but still didn't see exactly what happened. -- GB fan 14:03, 22 June 2015 (UTC)

Hey there!

I would like to thank you for fixing the contrast issue on the New Orleans Pelicans template. Can you do one more thing though? Can you also make the veiw, edit (left) white and the more button white too?GalaxyFighter55 (talk) 18:44, 22 June 2015 (UTC)

It looks fine. When I refer to a wp:contrast issue, it usually means it is hard to read. Gold font on a dark colored background, or any color for that matter, doesn't really read well. That is why I've been adding white font instead of the other colors. Corkythehornetfan 00:00, 23 June 2015 (UTC)

Color codes

Thank you for adjusting the team colors at {{Cleveland Cavaliers}} to allow for greater contrast & accessibility. I did notice, however, that you are at least occasionally using 3-character web color codes rather than the full 6-character hex color codes (e.g., #FFF instead of #FFFFFF for white). If greater accessibility is your goal, please note that some web browsers may have had difficulty recognizing these shortened color codes in the recent past. See comment from my talk page here. NFL Primary Style Module

Hello Corky, I was wondering if there is a current template on Wikipedia that would allow a user to update each National Football League (NFL) team's color data, similar to Module:Basketball color/data? SIUE red

I changed the color change you made to CC0000 back to what I had just changed it to the other day. SIUE's Wordmark and Logo Policy lists the color as Pantone (PMS)485, which converts to hex da291c which is just a bit darker than the red (FF0000) that was previously used or the university red (CC0000) that you used. It is not nearly as dark as the crimson-red SIUE used some years ago, but someone at some point decided to go a bit lighter. GWFrog (talk) 01:27, 10 July 2015 (UTC)

@GWFrog: Please see the school's identity guidelines from the athletics website. It says CC0000. This is their most recent (2015) guidelines. Their older one says FF0000. I could not find a source from their identity guidelines that shows it as DA291C. Corkythehornetfan 01:33, 10 July 2015 (UTC)

SIUE's Wordmark and Logo Policy is on www.siue.edu and does not give a hex equivalent... I see now where your ref (which I was looking for & not finding) says that "The HEX equivalent for PMS 485 is: #cc0000." Lacking that statement, I referenced http://rgb.to/pantone/485-c which shows it as da291c among the 8 different color code equivalents listed... Going beyond that since earlier, http://encycolorpedia.com/ has it as cc0c00, which is close to cc0000 but not quite the same... Whatever, when I changed it from FF0000, there was a noticeable difference which is also seen with cc0000... GWFrog (talk) 02:02, 10 July 2015 (UTC)

If the schools lists a hex code, then the one they list should be the one used, not ones we find other places. (I would only go to the rg.to website if they do not have a hex code listed on their website.) They wouldn't have listed a hex code if they didn't want a specific one used. They could've used any code that matches PMS 485, but they've chosen CC0000. Corkythehornetfan 02:13, 10 July 2015 (UTC)

Your recent edit on Great Midwest Athletic Conference

Regarding your recent edit on Great Midwest Athletic Conference, I believe the formatting in that particular type of infobox may have changed. So, your edit left the link, no longer linkable. I did not alter your edit, so go take a look and you will see what I mean. By the way, Central Missouri won the NCAA Div. II women's outdoor track and field. Chalk up another one for the MIAA. I saw they won... their sports teams are pretty darn good! It is now fixed and thanks again! Corkythehornetfan 02:56, 11 July 2015 (UTC)
You are quite welcome! I did not know the proper fix and wanted to touch base with you anyhow. Speaking of "their sports teams are pretty darn good"...California (Penna.) beat my Bloomsburg Huskies (first two years before I went to JMU) in the regional finals for women's basketball then they took out your ESU Hornets in the national semifinals before taking the whole thing. The Cal Vulcans also did heavy damage in softball, must be getting some of the better athletes out of the Pittsburgh suburbs. BTW, I hate to ask...but...if you don't like Brownback, why ya wanna watch Fox News network??? Freddiem (talk) 03:39, 11 July 2015 (UTC)
Ha! They must be! I only watch Fox News sometimes... especially when I want to listen to what kind of BS-story they have on a democrat or any other party. OR when a conservative is in the news, I like to see just how much they praise that person for what they did! LOL. Corkythehornetfan 04:17, 11 July 2015 (UTC)
I see, for me I can't watch it without my head exploding. It was in a public place and I couldn't change the channel. Earlier that day my dad was watching other news sources and they were reporting on the outcome of a courtcase regarding photo ID for voting in Penna., I did not watch the news that morning. My dad had told me that they had reported a certain decision that morning, well what Fox News reported totally contradicted what my father told me. I told my dad that he must have been mistaken, and so I was upset having believed the Fox report. Well after checking several other sources later, I saw how Fox had twisted the story to favor their line of BS. Anyhow since I pay the whole cable bill I pretty much have Fox News blocked on all the TVs in the house. BTW, thanks for the heads up on the page moves to NCAA Division I, II, III. It's a good move. Do you know when and how it happened? Freddiem (talk) 05:12, 11 July 2015 (UTC)
Haha! I just laugh at them because I enjoy the stupidity from them! I never have believed them, never will! I thought the NCAA page move was good too... never saw the point in the original title. Here, Here and Here is when the moves happened; it was a requested move that was uncontroversial. They were moved on May 5. Corkythehornetfan 05:40, 11 July 2015 (UTC)
Wish I had your sense of humor! I listened on YouTube to the whole fifty minutes of Trump announcing his run, it was painful at first and I almost did not get through it but now I can't stop laughing. So, I guess I'm learning. Thanks for the info on the page moves. Freddiem (talk) 06:02, 11 July 2015 (UTC)
Yep... that's another BIG joke! lol He just wants the attention and besides, he won't win... especially after his immigration marks! As for the page information, it's not a problem... just for future reference: you can always look at the article's history if you want to see an edit. Corkythehornetfan 06:17, 11 July 2015 (UTC)

I meant to put back the US in front of the dollar sign in the UF article haha completely forgot. Anyways, I looked up the official signature on the Florida State University brand website and they have the real official signature NOT the seal that you might think I uploaded. There are variations of it though which one do you think I should put up. The current one is over 15 years old and completely outdated. I work hard to keep this page looking nice and updated. Here is a link to the FSU's brand page. Let me know what you think. https://unicomm.fsu.edu/brand/ --SeminoleNation (talk) 03:15, 11 July 2015 (UTC)

@SeminoleNation: I appreciate the work you've done for the article, and Wikipedia! I've viewed the brand page many times, and it still does not change my opinion on the logo. The seal and the seal in the logo are the same, some seals just have different colors. There is no point in repeating it with the logo. Corkythehornetfan 04:17, 11 July 2015 (UTC)

University of West Georgia

Thank you for doing some up-keep on the article! One caveat, why did you remove the title of "Dr." from Kyle Marrero on the infobox (under President)? He has a doctorate, and is commonly referred to by that title. Previous presidents have been similarly referred to as "Dr. Firstname Lastname" on this page.

If it's just a matter of Wikipedia styling/rules, please show me. I'm still learning the ropes :) Mechordeus (talk) 15:19, 12 July 2015 (UTC)

I'm mostly sure the typical format is "name only". It's hard enough to keep names up to date and validated in articles, but titles and other degrees would be even harder. "Dr" is only an educational title, so it's really not their name. I've seen other people remove the "Dr" title in the past (and maybe quote a policy), but I don't have a link to the policy. Anyway, I personally never include the title and always remove the "Dr" title when I clean up infoboxes. I'll ask an admin to respond. • SbmeirowTalk22:46, 12 July 2015 (UTC)
WP:HONORIFIC. In general, items such as "Mr" and "Dr" shouldn't be included in references to people, except along the first mention of their names in biographies about them. They can be used in situations where it would be confusing not to include them (for example, if you were discussing two John Smiths, one with a doctorate and one without, "Dr. Smith" would be appropriate), but in something like this, the honorific shouldn't be included. Miami Marlins colors

I was wondering if you knew where to find official (MLB.com) HEX/HTML/Pantone color information for the Miami Marlins? I keep trying to edit the Marlins' article to show   FF6600    (which is Pantone 1585 C and actually reflects the Marlins' orange color) for Orange, but User:Y2kcrazyjoker4 (talkcontributions) keeps undoing my edits. He claims the HEX/HTML/Pantone color for Orange is   F9423A    (which is Pantone Warm Red C and looks nothing like orange). The sources I've used come from MLB.com, and can be found here, here, and here. Y2kcrazyjoker4's only source is Colorwerx.net, which I believe is inaccurate. He won't leave it alone unless I can provide a style/logo/branding sheet, which is only found at MLBStyleGuide.com (and a website for which I don't have credentials, because it's apparently for business partners of MLB only). Please help? Much thanks in advance if you can. Charlesaaronthompson (talk) 22:53, 12 July 2015 (UTC)

@Charlesaaronthompson: My Digital Color Meter on my computer shows  #FA6600  (I tested both the logo and the website). Your code would be closer, but let me do some digging around. I'll get back to you later this evening. Also, did you see my last message on your talk page? Corkythehornetfan 23:41, 12 July 2015 (UTC)
Yes, I did. I'm aware of the need for colors on Wikipedia to be visually readable/accessible, especially for people who are colorblind or who are susceptible to seizures brought on by bright colors. I'm also apparently aware of the need to fill in the edit summary every time I make an edit to an article. So, I changed the font colors for Seattle Seahawks so the text color is   FFFFFF   . I hope you could possibly edit the Miami Marlins article with accurate HEX/HTML colors? Every time I edit it, User:Y2kcrazyjoker4 always reverts my edits. Charlesaaronthompson (talk) 00:14, 13 July 2015 (UTC)
I have found a few sources (source 1, source 2, source 3, source 4) that have different codes than you, the other user, or I have. If I use this website to convert the RGB codes listed on this website, the orange shows in favor of  #F9423A . (Please note that the color converter at yellowpipe.com is pretty acurate. I've tested it on several university colors that list both a RGB code and hex code.) If anything, try contacting the team and see if they respond... I haven't found anything at MLB.com yet. I'll keep looking though.
Try talking to the user on the talk page and see if you can work things out. Getting in edit wars will get the both of you in trouble. They do have a history for being block due to edit-warring, but that was in 2006 and 2008.
If you know of the edit summary, then please use it when you revert and not just leave it blank. Corkythehornetfan 00:20, 13 July 2015 (UTC)
I have posted on User:Y2kcrazyjoker4's talk page. This user is absolutely convinced his colors are correct. I have also tried to contact the team directly through its Public Relations Twitter account, as well as MLB's Public Relations Twitter account, as you can see in this tweet. Charlesaaronthompson (talk) 00:52, 13 July 2015 (UTC)
I have commented on the user's talk page. I've also added the Miami Marlins to my watchlist. Corkythehornetfan 01:21, 13 July 2015 (UTC)

NBA team templates

I was wondering why you reverted my edits for about 5 different National Basketball Association (NBA) team templates? Is yellow/gold a hard color? I only made those edits to break up the monochrome look/add contrast. I don't think having a yellow/gold basestyle is visually difficult, especially when the font color for each template was specifically colored so there would be contrast. Charlesaaronthompson (talk) 05:21, 15 July 2015 (UTC)

For the same reason I've done it before. When you have two dark colors like the gold background and purple font, it makes it hard to read. Some people can read it, and others can't so when making edits like this -- everyone needs to be thought of. Corkythehornetfan 18:07, 15 July 2015 (UTC)
@Charlesaaronthompson: You can also refer to WP:CONTRAST. An objective method to determine suitable color combos would be to use a tool like Snook's color contrast tool.—Bagumba (talk) 23:17, 15 July 2015 (UTC)
I've checked out that website. I'm just curious what threshold certain colors like yellow and lime green have to meet in order to have enough WP:CONTRAST. I just don't like monochrome colors in the templates, like Template:Seattle Seahawks, for example or Template:Cleveland Cavaliers for another example. Charlesaaronthompson (talk) 23:29, 15 July 2015 (UTC)
As the tool is presumably based off of W3C standards, I'll presume it's based off of usability studies, so I don't have the expertise to question it based on my own subjective eyeball test.—Bagumba (talk) 00:35, 16 July 2015 (UTC)
Corky, please ping me if these discussions continue on any particular CFB, MLB, NBA, NFL, NHL or college sports navbox page. Thanks. As you know, the basic principle is to use the team's primary colors in the design of the navbox, but also to provide sufficient contrast between the navbox text and background. This is often accomplished by using white text reversed out of the darker team color, although other alternatives are available if they satisfy the color contrast requirements for WP:ACCESSIBILITY purposes. Dirtlawyer1 (talk) 13:36, 16 July 2015 (UTC)
Will do, thanks! Corkythehornetfan 19:21, 16 July 2015 (UTC)

Whistleblowing on myself

Hey I made an edit to the North Alabama color hex based upon the universities guide [12] but it didn't quite match up to the other navboxes when I looked at the main football page. I am wondering if when you get time you could verify or (undo if necessary) my edit. Thanks UCO2009bluejay (talk) 01:47, 17 July 2015 (UTC)

@UCO2009bluejay: Sure. The main football navbox was missing the module template, so I've added that to match the other templates. I also updated the colors in the articles to match the ones you updated the module with. Corkythehornetfan 02:16, 17 July 2015 (UTC)
Okay, I was wondering because of the difference in the two colors and the uploaded photo. Thanks again.-UCO2009bluejay (talk) 04:40, 17 July 2015 (UTC)
Yeah, I ended up uploading a new logo as well because according to their Graphic Standards, the one that was previously placed in the articles is a retired logo. Corkythehornetfan 04:49, 17 July 2015 (UTC)

Thanks! I've seen the first one before, which I think is why I added it in the article, but I hadn't seen the second one before. I knew football was independent, guess the whole school was too! Corkythehornetfan 05:23, 17 July 2015 (UTC)

Rhode Island colors

Using the snook tool, Rhode Island's colors have a worse contrast with white as the background. [15] Why would that be better? Joeykai (talk) 10:53, 20 July 2015 (UTC)

Then we put the dark blue as the background. Corkythehornetfan 10:57, 20 July 2015 (UTC)

University of Arkansas at Fayetteville

This is just matter of disambiguation. The University of Arkansas at Fayetteville and their mascot, the Razorbacks only represent the school in Fayetteville, though their marketing program would seek to convince that they represent the entire State of Arkansas. This is not technically true. They are a 'Flagship' University, but each school in the UofA system has its own mascot, as do most of Arkansas Colleges and Universities. ref: Category:Universities and colleges in Arkansas. ref: Category:Flagship universities in the United States PGWatson (talk) 05:53, 21 July 2015 (UTC)

I don't believe that the marketing program thinks they represent the entire state of Arkansas. University of Arkansas is the WP:COMMONNAME, as the media and fans do not add "at Fayetteville" to the name. Just like the University of Texas at Austin, which has its own system and each school has its own mascot, the media and others often refer to it as the "University of Texas" instead of adding "at Austin" at the end. I see no need in adding at Fayetteville in the wikilink. The System has its own Wikiarticle, and so does each school. If they want the System's article, they'll either search with "system" at the end, or they will click the link in one of the school articles. Corkythehornetfan 06:15, 21 July 2015 (UTC)
For the most part, I agree; however, use of their common name does not easily explain this relationship to the reader. It becomes most deceptive when other articles refer to the school or the Arkansas Razorbacks. The University of Arkansas at Little Rock, and the University of Arkansas Medical Center, for example, have no known athletic association with Quigley Stadium, even though their campuses are only separated by a few blocks. ?

When was this [16] named to be the standardized table, I thougtht the discussion came out to no consensus.UCO2009bluejay (talk) 16:05, 21 July 2015 (UTC)

There was no consensus, but I changed the tables because the automatic table looks much cleaner. By saying it looks cleaner, I mean (a) it is more compact and legible {all wording is on one line instead of two}, and (b) we don't have to deal with adding color every single time we make an edit. Revert my edits if you prefer the other version, it doesn't matter to me. Corkythehornetfan 19:05, 21 July 2015 (UTC)
This is exactly why I hoped it would come to a consensus. I don't have a problem with the color. I would've like to have team 1 (score) team 2 (score) but that is low on my priority list. I wish there was a way to have series records (especially for trophy games) included not that undifferent to this [17]. If there was a way to have that and the overall record. I wouldn't give a rip at all.UCO2009bluejay (talk) 19:15, 21 July 2015 (UTC)
You could have it like this one. I don't mind it, I prefer two columns, but I think the names are too long for that. It doesn't list the overall series at the end, but I guess that can be found in the infobox. Corkythehornetfan 19:32, 21 July 2015 (UTC)
I was really more concerned with an established consensus is all. I understand your compact table point. When I created it I was still a very new editor, and I didn't think about that, I just scanned what I thought was the most visually appealing from my perspective. There are extremes on both ends mine was probably a very lengthly top-to -bottom as compared to [18]. I want a consensus even if it goes against my personal preferences. At least you cleaned up that ugly Mo-West NW article that was on my to do list for a long time.UCO2009bluejay (talk) 19:44, 21 July 2015 (UTC)
I agree with the consensus thing. I don't think Frietjes had created the table yet when you created the article and at the time, it probably was the most appealing (visually). I probably would've added the same table! As for a consensus, you always bring the discussion back to the WikiProject and see where it goes from there. Corkythehornetfan 19:58, 21 July 2015 (UTC)
I am going to begin tinkering with a few proposals in my sandbox. I think there is a lot that could be gained from these tables.UCO2009bluejay (talk) 20:13, 21 July 2015 (UTC)
I agree, there is! Corkythehornetfan 20:27, 21 July 2015 (UTC)

GMB Notable

Hey, This is just a quick question. When you said do not add non notable people. What do you mean by notable as Richard Gaisford is the chief corespondent on the show and that certainly passes as notable. Thankyou -- JohnGormleyJG () 20:16, 21 July 2015 (UTC)

@JohnGormleyJG: Most generally, the person(s) should have an article. If they don't, then add a reliable, third-party source. Please note that another editor may come along and remove them if they don't have an article. I've seen it happen a lot. Also, there is no need for "Dr" to be included in the Wikilink. It is just a title that doesn't need linked, which is why I removed it from the link. It is common that titles are not linked in the Wikipedia articles. Corkythehornetfan 20:26, 21 July 2015 (UTC)
@Corkythehornetfan: I included Dr as that is the full title, that is what you go by as it is still included in their title/profession. Therefore should be included in the link. As for the chief correspondent he does not contain an article but I can try and create one as soon as I can. Or else we can just reference him. -- JohnGormleyJG () 20:34, 21 July 2015 (UTC)

Cleveland Browns uniforms

Hi Corky, so I uploaded File:New Cleveland Browns uniforms 2015.png and File:Cleveland Browns uniforms 2015.png. The second image is a duplicate of the first. Only thing is, I cannot get a thumbnail to show up in the image viewer. Please help? Thanks. Charlesaaronthompson (talk) 01:54, 25 July 2015 (UTC)

Charles, I'm not sure on what to do; I've had the same issue with a couple of other files I've uploaded today. I can see them if I open it in a new tab on my computer, and it shows well on my phone, but they aren't showing like they normally do on my computer. My suggestion would be to ask an administrator. Also, I'm going to tag the second file for deletion as it is a duplicate. Corkythehornetfan 04:06, 25 July 2015 (UTC)

Infobox NFL player color question

Hey, I was wondering if you could add the bordered NFL team colors to the template? For example, Robert Griffin III's (and all other Redskin players, etc) would have the gold border in the infobox, like it shows on the roster navbox. I tried to do it in the past, but got confused and gave up. ~ Dissident93 (talk) 06:26, 28 July 2015 (UTC)

Dissident93, I'm sorry, but I have not a clue on how to do that. Would you want it to look like Template:Infobox college football player or just a border like in the navbox? I would suggest talking with User:Dirtlawyer1... this is more in his area he focuses on! (He's the one who got the whole stripe thingy in the college infobox) Also, User:Frietjes is the template guru, so she could do it too, but I'd suggest going to DL first. Sorry I wasn't much help! Corkythehornetfan 07:44, 28 July 2015 (UTC)
Kind of, yeah, I just think it would look as nice for players. I'll try to ask them though, thanks. ~ Dissident93 (talk) 08:27, 28 July 2015 (UTC)
By the way, I went ahead and did the same to the rest of the roster navboxes, but I'm begining to think you didn't do the rest for a reason... Maybe only the really contrasting ones should be done in your style? I think they all look best when consistent with each other, so even if it didn't qualify for WP:CONTRAST, they should remain. What do you think? ~ Dissident93 (talk) 04:35, 29 July 2015 (UTC)
@Dissident93: I probably didn't think about it when I changed it. They should work, as I don't see a problem with the borders and I agree that they should remain consistent with each other. Corkythehornetfan 16:04, 29 July 2015 (UTC)

Dallas Cowboys Roster Template Contrast

I noticed you changed the contrast on the navbox as well, but made the primary color silver. Is there a chance you could do the same color scheme as the navbox for the main roster template? The dark blue is freaking me out as a somewhat obsessed Cowboys fan. RevanFan (talk) 23:28, 28 July 2015 (UTC)

@RevanFan: Is this what you mean? I still disagree with the style because the Snook Tool says "sort of" and I think it's better to have it all blue (with a silver border), but am not going to get in an edit war with others so I've added made the main navbox and roster navbox the same. Corkythehornetfan 00:01, 29 July 2015 (UTC)
Well, what I meant was I preferred when you had the navbox primarily silver. But, if they can't be silver, at least the two templates are uniform. Still, it hurts my inner Cowboys fan to see the blue be listed as primary. It's the cursed color. RevanFan (talk) 00:44, 29 July 2015 (UTC)
@RevanFan: I gotcha now! Maybe they should be a white background with blue font and a silver border... then y'all would be winning! Although, us Redskins fans would prefer the lovely blue!!! Corkythehornetfan 00:48, 29 July 2015 (UTC)

Uploading Images to Wiki

You shouldn't have create a new page for the Santa Clara logo. If you go to the current logo page on Santa Clara Broncos athletics logo.gif, you would see at the bottom of the page it states "Upload a new version of this file." That is what should be used unless it is a brand new logo. In this case you should have used that instead of uploading the file SC Broncos logo.png.Bigddan11 (talk) 03:27, 29 July 2015 (UTC)

I'm aware of that link at the bottom of the page, but I uploaded a transparent version of the logo, which was png format and the only reason it was a separate version. I have no way of converting the logo to a gif image, nor do I really care to have or find a program that does convert images. PNG images usually have better quality than GIF images. Georgia Southwestern State University

Regarding your recent changes to Georgia Southwestern State University, I have a few questions/comments. 1. Why are college and university seals showing up on their respective pages? Most, if not all, schools do NOT use their seal to promote their university. In Georgia Southwestern's case, it makes more sense to use it's primary logo to properly foster its brand. 2. Georgia Southwestern's colors are not simply "Navy" and "Gold." The proper Hex color values are listed after the colors, but nowhere in the school's cited brand guidelines are those generic color names given. It makes more since to give a specific color value. 3. Why did you remove the reference to the Rosalynn Carter Institute's Operation Family Caregiver with web citations? 4. Why copy and paste the link above each section if the copyright policy warning will show? Thanks for your time. --SowegaAM06 (talk) 18:46, 29 July 2015 (UTC)

@SowegaAM06: Thanks for asking. Below are my answers:
  1. Since 2012 (when I became a member of Wikipedia), we've used both the seal and the logo. Just because a school doesn't use their seal to promote the university, doesn't mean we can't display it. The logo that the school brands with is at the bottom of the Infobox, so people can still recognize the school by the logo.
  2. As for the colors, we do not use the PMS code as the actual name because the general public doesn't care about the PMS name. When the colors are listed on the website, they don't say "PMS 281" and "PMS 1245", but instead say "Navy and Old gold." The hex code/PMS code is for tech geeks who need the color codes. Also, the alumni from the school do not say their school colors are "PMS 281" and "PMS 1245", but again say "Navy and Old gold." This is common sense.
  3. I removed the reference for the Carter Institute per WP:EL -- no external links in the body paragraphs. You can use those external links as references at the end of the sentences by placing <ref>...</ref> tags around the html, but they cannot be in the body as an external link.
  4. The links in the copy and paste templates show others where it was copied from. A majority of the text in those two sections were copied from the website, which causes a copyright problem.
Hope this helps. Corkythehornetfan 19:57, 29 July 2015 (UTC)

'Hornetfan, I don't know if you frequent sportsnetwork.com or not but the website has been down for several days. For me it's an invaluable resource and remember it provides one of the polls for FCS football. Let me know if you know anything or can find anything out about it. Thanks as always. Freddiem (talk) 03:32, 8 August 2015 (UTC)

@Freddiem: would this be it? The captions on Google search show the same thing. I've never heard of the website but if the link I provided isn't it, you might ask the folks at WT:WikiProject College football. They might know. Corkythehornetfan 03:59, 8 August 2015 (UTC)
The site you mention is one I first found a few days ago from a search engine as well...that site is a poor excuse for a website and just has a similar name. I guess there's a term for it. Anyhow, from the google search you gave me, it mentions stats.com and if you go there it states that they have purchased the actual website I am looking for, but does not say what they are doing or will do with the website. There is a contact number, so I will probably call them during the week. Thanks again. Freddiem (talk) 12:38, 8 August 2015 (UTC)
Yeah, I saw stats.com and almost posted that here as well. Sorry I wasn't much help. Corkythehornetfan 13:13, 8 August 2015 (UTC)
Actually, you were a lot of help because my initial search didn't give me stats.com or at least I did not notice it. So now I have a lead on getting my answer. I'm up early watching the English soccer or "football" if you will. Freddiem (talk) 13:32, 8 August 2015 (UTC)

The Valparaiso logo File:VALPO logo.png that you updated recently and added to all their current pages is not a current logo. They stopped using that logo in 2013. The current logo which I uploaded, and since has been deleted because it was not on any current pages, I cannot find anymore. Please be more careful when updating logos and if you can please find and upload the updated Valpo logo if I don't find it first. Bsuorangecrush (talk) 21:48, 10 August 2015 (UTC)

@Bsuorangecrush: Sorry, I didn't realize that. I usually am careful. I've gone ahead and uploaded this one, but cropped out the shield. It does show it is an athletics logo per the the Brand website. They really don't have a PD logo unless the shield is cropped out. Corkythehornetfan 22:30, 10 August 2015 (UTC)
Pretty sure that's what I did last time. It's still the same logo that athletics uses.Bsuorangecrush (talk) 17:41, 11 August 2015 (UTC)

Eastern New Mexico color

I have a question about ENMU's color. I have found the #006633 color here [19]. But I haven't found anything for their shade of silver. What would you do? Thanks–UCO2009bluejay (talk) 02:17, 11 August 2015 (UTC)

Also is an html the same thing as a hex [20].UCO2009bluejay (talk) 02:25, 11 August 2015 (UTC)
I usually use my DigitalColor Meter on my computer. My other option would be to check the Silver or Grey Wikipedia pages that is close to the picture. The Graphics Standards says "As silver can be difficult to produce, most shades of grey are acceptable," so a darker shade of silver is good. If the school were to have a PMS, RGB, or CMYK code, there are always websites you can search for on Google. I use rgb.to for PMS/RGB and easycalculation.com/colorconverter/rgb-color-converter.php for the CMYK. You might give the Moorhead State code a try. Corkythehornetfan 02:53, 11 August 2015 (UTC)
So THAT is how you figure this out so easy, I was hung up on hex codes. I plan on giving it a try real soon. ThanksUCO2009bluejay (talk) 03:34, 11 August 2015 (UTC)

no, although maybe I should Rev/del it. Doug Weller (talk) 20:38, 18 August 2015 (UTC)
I don't know what you as an administrator are suppose to do, but deleting the revisions seem reasonable to me. Corkythehornetfan 20:46, 18 August 2015 (UTC)
Done. Carry on the good work. Doug Weller (talk) 09:07, 19 August 2015 (UTC)

Question

Arkansas Tech
Wonder Boys and Golden Suns
Logo
NicknameWonder Boys (men)
Golden Suns (women)

I have been mulling over the idea of asking to merge Arkansas Tech Wonder Boys, and Arkansas Tech Golden Suns into Arkansas Tech Wonder Boys and Golden Suns, do you have any ideas about this?–UCO2009bluejay (talk) 00:17, 31 August 2015 (UTC)

I say go for it... it's the common thing to do on here! I see no good reason for the two to be separate articles, they both only have one source, and could use a good clean up. I don't think others would have a problem with it.
Here is a couple of things I'd do:
  1. Remove the season-by-season tables and leave the text, unless there is a separate articles for those teams (which I don't think there are). Finding sources for the text shouldn't be a problem.
  2. Infobox name: you can choose how to display the name as what you think looks best, but at the right is what I would do.
Other than that, merge it as is and do whatever else you want to improve the article. Let me know if you want me to help. Corkythehornetfan 00:53, 31 August 2015 (UTC)
I'll get to it real soon, but I don't know if one would have to merge request it or not (to keep the editing history) and the season tables should be split.UCO2009bluejay (talk) 01:00, 31 August 2015 (UTC)
Sounds good. I'm not sure about the request; I guess you can do it to be on the safe side. Corkythehornetfan 01:08, 31 August 2015 (UTC)

Virginia Tech

Sorry, Corky, I'm not quite understanding where to type and unfortunately don't have the time to sort through everything. I have contributed to wikipedia over a long period of time but very sporadically so I'm definitely not up on things. I would like to keep the external link to the website as per what I'm reading on the wikipedia link info WP:ELYES #3. The link takes to the official site and while we could create a separate article I think this is the best solution for now. I hope you will reconsider and please let me keep this external link. I am the program coordinator for this program. Beth --Bsecrist (talk) 18:03, 1 September 2015 (UTC)

@Bsecrist: If you want to add it, add it to the External links section in the article under the athletics link. That would be the best place for the link; it just cannot be in the body. Corkythehornetfan 18:09, 1 September 2015 (UTC)
Sorry, Corky, but I'm not reading the Wikipedia external/internal links guidelines to be as emphatic as you are making it. And even you use the word "generally". I feel that since it is part of VA Tech, it is better to include this information on the Virginia Tech article page rather than creating a new article for Wikipedia. Again citing WP:ELYES, #3 and seeing the word "general" or "generally" used when talking about larger subject article pages, I believe the external link is warranted. I'll add it to external links, but I feel isn't ideal given that I want to keep it "in" VA Tech without creating a separate article. But you obviously see it as more clear cut and evidently do this all the time, so I guess I'll have to find the time at some point to create an article page. Thanks for your patience with me! Beth Bsecrist (talk) 18:37, 1 September 2015 (UTC)
@Bsecrist: Apologies for butting in but this link doesn't belong in the "External links" section of that article, either. We already have a link to the subject's official website and that's sufficient. ElKevbo (talk) 19:28, 1 September 2015 (UTC)

MIAA Basketball Articles

Now that football season [23] is practically over. When do you think we can get the MIAA men's BB articles out? At least I still have the Sooners. he heUCO2009bluejay (talk) 21:26, 12 September 2015 (UTC)

Oh wait we play you next week.UCO2009bluejay (talk) 21:26, 12 September 2015 (UTC)
Haha! Yeah... we still need improvement.
I can start the mbb articles whenever. How do you want to do it? I take the Kansas teams, you take Oklahoma? After that, we just do whatever team still needs an article? Feel free to strike the teams out as you go in my sandbox. Corkythehornetfan 21:40, 12 September 2015 (UTC)
Sure I was slowly striking away at UCO's. Usually I like to make the articles upper stub/start class or higher before I take it out of my sandboxes. Be patient with me because my schedule is getting tighter. Nobody told me that you get much less time after you graduate. I have also created a to do list here [24], if you decide to create some of these articles for football, I will add the basketball teams to keep track of it as well.
  • Here is where we stand thus far:
  • ESU and NW have been created
  • Hays, NSU, and UCM have won D-II championships and would IMO take top priority.
  • Hays, UCM, and Washburn have won NAIA championships.
  • I'll start by taking UCO, NSU, Lindenwood, and UNK.

UCO2009bluejay (talk) 21:58, 12 September 2015 (UTC)

Sounds good. I think NW Missouri's article needs a little touching up, which has been on my list forever! I'll go ahead and start with FHSU, UCM, and Washburn. School is in session right now, so I'll work on them when I can... patients will be needed for the both of us! Corkythehornetfan 22:11, 12 September 2015 (UTC)

Wichita State people

Sorry for the confusion about the Wichita State page. Snodgrass is definitely good and I have upgraded her page to make the WSU connection. Actually, Goldbarth doesn't work. When I added him, I did not understand that only students from WSU were to be included. Goldbarth of course is faculty, never was a student at WSU. Edward Dixon (talk) 04:17, 14 September 2015 (UTC)

@Edward Dixon: Thanks for updating her article! The article is for both alumni and faculty. There is a section for faculty already listed at the bottom of the page. Just add him under Flentje to keep the list in alphabetical order. Thanks. Corkythehornetfan 04:34, 14 September 2015 (UTC)

You just couldn't wait to do this could you

[25] Yes, ESU looked pretty effective today. Their defense came up with some pretty big stops and the Chos couldn't stop them on third down. Oh and you're welcome we are the only MIAA team that will let y'all wear your all gold uniforms on the road this year (I wish I could've brought my camera to the game to take a picture for the article). ESU had a large contingency (about as large as Pitt normally brings). Okay, seriously this isn't a message board so good win for y'all and I'll see how the basketball articles are coming along.–UCO2009bluejay (talk) 00:43, 20 September 2015 (UTC)

Haha... sorry! I didn't really keep up-to-date, just when I saw the updates on social media. As for the all gold uniforms, I absolutely HATE them... they are fugly! Hopefully y'all win at least one game and by that one game, I mean the NSU game! Corkythehornetfan 01:18, 20 September 2015 (UTC)
Yeah, I hope we go 8–3 this year but more likely we will beat UNK, MoSo, LWU, and NSU. Washburn will be a toss up finish so maybe 4–7 or 5–6. Is there some animosity between ESU and NSU, I am unaware of, or was that just hoping like I wish you luck against Washburn?UCO2009bluejay (talk) 01:50, 20 September 2015 (UTC)
No animosity between ESU and NSU, just wishing you luck! I'd be surprised if NSU wins a game this season. Corkythehornetfan 02:02, 20 September 2015 (UTC)

University of Chicago

Take a look at University of Chicago--Lydhia (talk) 19:17, 25 September 2015 (UTC)

@Lydhia: The Reputation & rankings section should probably be rewritten, but definitely should be kept. The "has long been recognized as one of the world's preeminent institutions" at WP:BOOSTERISM is listed as a not. I'd suggest starting a discussion on the article's talk page. Corkythehornetfan 19:45, 25 September 2015 (UTC)
Many editors removed "its academic, social, and political influence has made it one of the most prestigious and influential universities in the world," from the intro, but it keeps getting readded.--Lydhia (talk) 19:48, 25 September 2015 (UTC)
@Lydhia: Thank you for being more specific. Please be more specific the next time you leave a message on a user's talk page. I took your first edit as if you wanted me to look at your edits in the reputation and rankings section, which also needs work. I've gone ahead and removed the prestige part in the intro per WP:PRESTIGE. I still encourage you to start a discussion on the talk page. You also need to use the edit summary when you make your edits. Otherwise, others will revert per an unexplained removal. Corkythehornetfan 20:07, 25 September 2015 (UTC)

Speaker of the United States House of Representatives

I left the following message for the IP user who was making mistaken edits to the Speaker article. I looked at it again just now and decided that the user was not being disruptive, he was merely mistaken. In fact, I did not leave any warning messages aside from a special note because I thought he was probably in good faith at the outset. I also left a modified welcome message with links. I thought you might be interested in my message to the user.

"I am sorry this was not clarified earlier. You are correct that Cannon served four terms but the table does not count the entire time between taking and leaving office. Otherwise, most of the time periods in the table would be somewhat the same in two-year increments. The table only includes the days that the person was Speaker while Congress was in session. The introductory text to the table states: "Time after adjournment of one Congress but before the convening of the next Congress is not counted." So while you were correct as to the number of terms Cannon had, you were mistaken as to what the table shows: the number of days he was in office while Congress was in session. I hope this will not discourage you from making constructive edits to Wikipedia." Donner60 (talk) 21:24, 28 September 2015 (UTC)

Ole Miss–Tennessee football rivalry

Corky, is there any significant coverage in independent sources for this game series as a rivalry? This article creator seems hell-bent on starting a new article for every SEC game series, and has had several deleted for lack of notability as a rivalry. One AfD is pending. I saw that you edited the article today, and wanted to talk to you before PROD'ing it and/or nominating for AfD. Please advise. Dirtlawyer1 (talk) 00:09, 2 October 2015 (UTC)

@Dirtlawyer1: Probably not. I was going to ask you about this, because I questioned its notability. Lord only knows I got distracted and ended up just editing the article instead! I don't know anything about the series, so go for the PROD! I've been watching the user as well, and I would have thought that he would've gotten the memo about the rivalrie articles getting deleted! Corkythehornetfan 03:47, 2 October 2015 (UTC)
I slapped a PROD template on it. The creator will remove it, I'll do the WP:BEFORE due diligence, and it will be nominated for AfD sometime tomorrow. It's a tiresome exercise, but as long as people insist on creating articles for non-notable "rivalries," I'm afraid this will continue. There's probably another 30 or 40 existing "rivalry" articles that probably should be deleted too. Some folks just don't get the concept of notability (and the fact that Wikipedia is not a fan blog). Dirtlawyer1 (talk) 04:32, 2 October 2015 (UTC)
FYI, I nominated the article for deletion earlier this evening. There are some sources for this as a "rivalry," but they are all fansites, blogs, and athletic department releases, i.e., not independent for purposes of establishing notability. Cheers. Dirtlawyer1 (talk) 00:56, 10 October 2015 (UTC)
Yep, I saw that. Thanks for the message! Corkythehornetfan 01:35, 10 October 2015 (UTC)

Why are my edits incorrect?

They are proper formatting, are they not? Threemonths (talk) 09:25, 4 October 2015 (UTC)

It is the standard here to use {{URL}}, not the brackets like you've been adding back. Also, Template:Infobox university uses the url template, as well. Please stop removing the url template. If you think it should be the brackets, take it to Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Universities. Corkythehornetfan 13:34, 4 October 2015 (UTC)

Is it really necessary to link the official website to the specific section about KOMO-TV? As KOMO operates a news department, they have to display the news as the main part of the website. I don't think there's a requirement on Wikipedia to link TV stations' websites to the specific link about them, and many other stations' articles have websites where the news is displayed when on the basic URL.

By the way, you're welcome. With Sinclair being a large corporation, it didn't surprise me to have their website not updated when the new logo was first broadcast. SmartAn01 (talk) 02:16, 9 October 2015 (UTC)

@SmartAn01:The article is about KOMO-TV, not the News section. There may not be a requirement, but if we are talking about the TV station, the TV website should be linked. IMO. Corkythehornetfan 03:28, 9 October 2015 (UTC)

University of California, Santa Barbara

I noticed that on your recent edit the dates for the former names of the school were deleted. Was that accidental? If intentional, why? Thanks. Contributor321 (talk) 04:48, 14 October 2015 (UTC)

@Contributor321: I intentionally removed them because it too much of a clutter in the infobox. (I would really just like to get rid of the "Former names" section of the inbox altogether, but know that will never happen.) I couldn't figure a way to include it in the infobox without it going to a new line. If you want them there, I'll be glad to add a box on the right side of the History section that includes them. Usually they are listed in the History section, but it doesn't look like they really are in this article. Thanks. Corkythehornetfan 05:05, 14 October 2015 (UTC)
I see your point about the infobox clutter and agree the former names should be removed IF the history section adequately covers them (e.g. look at University of Arizona vs. Arizona State University, both founded in 1885: one has all the former names listed, the other doesn't). I'm going to update UCSB's history section so that the relevant dates are there, and would not be opposed to deleting the former names from the infobox. However, we probably need to hear from other editors before that's done (although there's always WP:BRD). Contributor321 (talk) 05:29, 14 October 2015 (UTC)
The ASU infobox is a mess, and the names are bolded for the school in the history section. As for the discussions, I tend to go towards the BRD. If someone has a problem with the edits, the they can discuss it as I'll be glad to. I just don't want to get in a big ole discussion with a hundred editors about it! Corkythehornetfan 05:50, 14 October 2015 (UTC)

Hey, there, Corky...

Seen you around, but never really interacted. From my understanding, links in the Infobox are separate from links in the body, and thus don't come under any sanction in WP:OVERLINK unless there is more than one in there. The IP user has been adding it to some TV stations, removing it from others - I am aiming for consistency here. Before you continue to revert me, let's discuss it. By the way, this reversion[26] reintroduced a typo the IP made. ScrpIronIV 13:30, 14 October 2015 (UTC)

TPS: Correct. It is perfectly permissible to link once in the infobox and again in the main body text. Dirtlawyer1 (talk) 14:21, 14 October 2015 (UTC)

@ScrapIronIV: Sorry for not responding sooner, I had to leave for a few hours. I had planned on commenting on your talk page when I returned. In the An example article section, bullet #3 says: do not link to the "United States", because that is an article on a very broad topic with no direct connection to supply and demand. That's what I was going off of, which leads me to the question: is that only for the body, not the infobox? If it is different, then please forgive me as I misunderstood it. Corkythehornetfan 18:29, 14 October 2015 (UTC)

Not a problem, I knew you weren't being tendentious. My understanding - and it is a vague and interpretive one - is that when defining location (as we do in infoboxes) then it is valid. Similarly, it is valid when describing interaction between nations. I am not wed to that definition, just trying to maintain consistency. In this particular case, I was reverting what appeared to me to be some serial vandalism by the IP, who was adding it in some articles, removing it from others, and generally adding unsourced content. Seems that's where I spend most of my time these days - undoing unconstructive edits by drive-by IP's. ScrpIronIV 18:38, 14 October 2015 (UTC)
Thanks! If you want to revert, go ahead; if you see me do it in the future, feel free to revert... just mention the talk on my page so I remember why! I've been removing the links to United States when editing the articles, so keep this in mind next time. Thanks again. Corkythehornetfan 19:06, 14 October 2015 (UTC)

image removal

Hey, I was wondering why you are trying to delete the seals I put up on the schools within Buffalo again. I'm just doing this based on other schools I've seen. For example https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cornell_University .Just so I can keep this short, the pages at Cornell University's departments have a seal the same way I used. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cornell_University_College_of_Human_Ecology , https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cornell_University_College_of_Veterinary_Medicine . Its on top of the articles page and an University seal which make it fair use and I see nothing wrong with it. Many other University's do the same exact thing. Thanks AlaskanNativeRU (talk) 17:10, 18 October 2015 (UTC)

I removed them per WP:NFCC#10c – you didn't have any FURs for the other articles. I was also getting ready to nominate it for deletion per WP:NFC#UUI § 17, or the same reason Stefan2 did at Wikipedia:Files for deletion/2015 October 18#File:State University of New York at Buffalo.png. Not to mention the university already has a file for the seal, so there would be no need for duplication. Corkythehornetfan 19:02, 18 October 2015 (UTC)

Okay fair enough. What makes it not free? It's an University seal just how all other universities have. And exactly how UC Berkley and Cornell have two different seals for the actual university and the department pages. Will there's also be removed?AlaskanNativeRU (talk) 05:14, 19 October 2015 (UTC)

@AlaskanNativeRU: I've taken care of UC Berkeley and will take care of Cornell later. As for making it not free, I'm not sure. That would be a question for Stefan2. Corkythehornetfan 19:37, 19 October 2015 (UTC)

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Steel1943 (talk) 23:54, 20 October 2015 (UTC)

@Steel1943: Good Lord, I just uploaded the file a few minutes ago. Can you give a man a few minutes to edit the article as well? Corkythehornetfan 23:57, 20 October 2015 (UTC)
Hey Corkythehornetfan, since the Upload Log is constantly growing, there really is not much time for patrollers to give in regards to seeing if a speedy tag needs to be placed on a file or not, especially since these notifications (like the one here) act as sort of a "nudge" to those who may upload the image, have every intent to add the image to the article, then forget, possible due to either real-life interruptions or commitments. That, and this tag has a seven-day delay before the deletion can be executed, which should provide ample time to meet the need of the tag. Steel1943 (talk) 00:02, 21 October 2015 (UTC)
Alright, thanks. Corkythehornetfan 00:12, 21 October 2015 (UTC)

Florida Gators logo, etc.

Corky, please see the discussion on the University of Florida talk page and file talk page for the logo. If you have any questions, ping me. The bottom line is that the Gator head logo is already one of the most used non-free images on Wikipedia, and we don't want to do anything that would jeopardize the existing compromise that allowed us to use it on all of the Florida Gators primary team articles. I appreciate your understanding of this situation. Thanks. Dirtlawyer1 (talk) 05:55, 22 October 2015 (UTC)

Sacramento State edits.

Thanks for the info. Maybe someone from the Government Department will add the information for the Sacramento Semester program. I was lucky enough to be an intern in 1986 and they still have anniversary events. It's a great program and a shame it has never been added to this page as a University asset.

As to the name change...all the alumni literature, marketing and logos have referred to the school as Sacramento State University since 2004 and you would be hard pressed to find any California State University, Sacramento references in the bookstore or apparel. As noticed at football games we have no consistency in name, shade of green, hornet logo or mascot so maybe the confusion on names on this page is something they don't have a problem with.

Thought I could help steer this page into the latest name but actually this had taken up more time that I care to spend on it.

Thanks for checking in. GarnishzLife (talk) 20:17, 23 October 2015 (UTC)

@GarnishzLife: I didn't have a problem with your edits beside that the fact that it was WP:UNSOURCED. You are more than welcome to re-add the Sacramento Semester program with a reliable source. As for the name, the 2015 CSUS Brand Book states that Sacramento State University is the standard name, but not the formal name. The school may brand as Sacramento State University, but its formal and legal name is California State University, Sacramento. Corkythehornetfan 23:02, 23 October 2015 (UTC)

College team colors references

I started looking for the official Hex and/or Pantone colors for your Eastern Kentucky example, and I found this, [27], for starters. For the record, I note the Florida Gators hex colors listed are wrong, but perhaps it will be of some use to you, at least as a starting point. What I was really looking for was something like the University of Florida's official "Brand Center" identity page at [28], which includes both the official Hex and Pantone colors. Most Division I universities and sports programs have something similar online. Dirtlawyer1 (talk) 20:25, 26 October 2015 (UTC)

See page 5 of the EKU Visual Identity Guide: [29]. Cheers. Dirtlawyer1 (talk) 20:57, 26 October 2015 (UTC)
Thanks! Can't say I've seen that website before. I notice a few others wrong, specifically KU and Baylor, but it could be useful! Would you recommend using the silver from the 1st link you provided for EKU or just keep what I've got? The codes are pretty close. Corkythehornetfan 22:44, 26 October 2015 (UTC)
The EKU Visual Identity Guide (second link above) is an official publication of EKU for purposes of their branding. Use it. Dirtlawyer1 (talk) 23:31, 26 October 2015 (UTC)

University of Houston colors

I am quite aware that the athletic department uses a different red on its website; however, that is not the color being used in real life (even for athletic flags, logos, etc. –RJN (talk) 02:17, 28 October 2015 (UTC)

@RJN: They state that is the official color for athletics, and it should be the one used. They use the darker red of #7D2935, but the lighter red on this website is the official color. I think they make that pretty clear on their website. The University may use #CC0000 as the color, but Athletics uses their own. They are two different colors, and they both should be used. Hi Corkythehornetfan, can you please take a look at Today Show Page?

The IP Address 66.168.88.182 keep making unverified and uncensored changes as well as on other TODAY Show related Pages.

Just to be clear

I was trying to sound "even-handed": [30]. That was not intended as me jumping all over you, but to sound like I was knocking heads. Please keep doing what you're doing for the time being. I don't know what's behind the countdown to your planned departure, but your work around here will be missed. I hope you know that. Dirtlawyer1 (talk) 22:35, 29 October 2015 (UTC)

I get what you were doing, no worries. As for the leaving part, I've just gotten bored and tired of some of the other editors. There are a few, yourself included, that I've enjoyed working with. If I stay, most likely I'll clear my watchlist and just keep the articles related to Emporia State University, the MIAA, and the ones I've created. I do not plan on editing the Module any longer. Thanks! Corkythehornetfan 02:58, 30 October 2015 (UTC)
Hey, everyone reaches that point now and again. Often it comes after some frustrating and really dumb collective decisions by others. The best thing you can do is retreat into improving those non-controversial articles you care about most, because that's often what got us involved in the first place. If there's anything I can do to help, please let me know. Dirtlawyer1 (talk) 04:59, 30 October 2015 (UTC)

Considering Leaving?

Hey, I noticed on your page that you are considering leaving Wikipedia by the end of the year. I must tell you that I greatly appreciate the work you have given to Wikipedia. You have contribute a huge amount of content. Thanks for all the thousands of edits you have made! I understand that it is very time consuming, but I would love to see you continue. I was just really wondering was there any main reason why? Thank you for your great work you have given to the online encyclopedia. Have a good day! We will certainly miss you. =) -- JohnGormleyJG () 15:17, 30 October 2015 (UTC)

@JohnGormleyJG: Thanks. I've just gotten bored with the editing, as well as tired of some of the users. As I said above, there are a few editors (yourself included) that I've enjoyed working with. I haven't decided if I am leaving completely of if I'll stay and just edit those I've created/or worked a lot on. Corkythehornetfan 22:49, 30 October 2015 (UTC)

Since you obviously didn't know what I was talking about, I decided to help you out. Here are some links to university articles with lyrics. They are The Orange and Blue, We Are the Boys from Old Florida, Florida_International_University, UCF Knights, University of South Florida Herd of Thunder, Florida Atlantic Owls, University of West Florida, Carmen Ohio, Clemson University, Louisiana State University, Louisiana State University traditions, Louisiana State University Tiger Marching Band, LSU Alma Mater, Bright College Years, and OU Chant just to name a few. I've gone ahead and put every single one of those articles on my watchlist and I hope that you will continue your work and finish this within the week. You told me that "most lyrics have been removed from the articles" and this is definitely not true. I really hope you aren't just targeting Florida State University. I gave you eleven different universities and fifteen different articles. Thank you very much and I'm glad I could help you in your endeavors.--SeminoleNation (talk) 00:19, 15 November 2015 (UTC)

I don't "target" articles. Never have, never will as I have no reason to. When I say most, I mean that they're either getting ready to be removed or have already been removed. Just because the lyrics weren't removed from the articles you've listed above, doesn't mean that I or someone else has gotten to them yet. Corkythehornetfan 00:42, 15 November 2015 (UTC)
Well then I guess I made everyone's job easier. I hope to see these articles corrected according to wikipedia's "guidelines" very soon. There is no injustice unless every university article receives the same treatment. Have a great day!--SeminoleNation (talk) 00:50, 15 November 2015 (UTC)
(talk page stalker) @SeminoleNation: Wikipedia is WP:NOTCOMPULSORY, so Corky may or may not get around to the articles you listed. The choice is their's. Bear in mind that WP:OTHERSTUFF will always exist, so it's generally not a compelling reason to keep or delete content. In this case, WP:NOTLYRICS is a Wikipedia policy: "... any quotation of them must be kept to a minimum, and used for the purpose of direct commentary or to illustrate some aspect of the style." Thanks.—Bagumba (talk) 01:08, 15 November 2015 (UTC)

I see the football Hornets finished second in the conference...

'Fan, I saw your notice that you will probably leave editing Wikipedia by the end of the year. I for one will miss you. Anyhow I wanted to contact you weeks ago, but the first time I checked the article on the Hornets football season wasn't until the morning of the game that the Hornets lost to Fort Hays State, before that they were undefeated. And I felt that I jinxed them considering that I waited all that time to check on the Hornets and then they lost that game. So, I waited until now to contact you, after the end of the season. With a second place finish in the conference we should be pretty confident they will make the playoffs. The selection show is tomorrow, it will air on ncaa.com at 5pm ET/ 4pm CT. My Bloomsburg Huskies lost a few weeks back to a team they have not lost to in a decade, it was a critical loss so they will not be making the playoffs. As for James Madison they were 7-0 until their star QB got injured in the eighth game, they lost that one and the next. They recovered today with a victory over Delaware, a big rival. JMU got the winning touchdown with 20 seconds left in the game. It was heart attack city. Anyhow, sorry for going so long. I wanted to let you know about a couple of things on the MIAA football season and the Emporia State fb season articles that you can easily fix with Twinkle. I'll let you know in the next post. Freddiem (talk) 03:27, 15 November 2015 (UTC)

Freddiem Oh, so YOU'RE the reason we lost!!! haha! We just played horrible that game and Ft. Hays always gives us a run for our money! Sorry to hear about your Huskies, maybe next year? At least your Dawgs recovered, though! Injuries suck (I know because ESU had injuries the past two seasons... both times out star QB). Luckily he didn't get injured during this year's regular season. I have Twinkle, but only use it when I see the endash in an article, so I'll be glad to learn what needs fixed.
As for the leaving, thanks! I've just been getting tired of dealing with a few editors and kind of getting bored with Wikipedia. But as I've said before, there are a few editors that I've enjoyed working with, yourself included. I've never had a problem with you and that makes the project more fun. Corkythehornetfan 04:27, 15 November 2015 (UTC)
Plus being in school you really have to concentrate on that, and it's understandable why you would want to leave Wikipedia. Did you see Fort Hays St. upset Central Mo. today? JMU's star QB was the leading passer in the nation and sixth in rushing in the nation including RBs. His probable pro career is possibly ruined. A 340 lbs. linemen stepped on his foot and basically crushed it, and he limped around for several downs before they finally took him out of the game. Thanks for the compliment, it's been great working with you and learning from you. Regarding dashes I have a question for you and I'll have to show you an example you will have to remind me tomorrow and tomorrow I'll point out those fixes I mentioned. Don't let me forget...right now I'm plain exhausted. Freddiem (talk) 05:47, 15 November 2015 (UTC)
Freddiem: True dat. If I do stay, I'll probably clear my watchlist of 13,500 articles and just keep the Kansas articles and MIAA articles. After all, that is what I really came to Wikipedia for. I saw UCM lost, can't say I was surprised. Them and Pitt State have not been good this year, especially Pitt. That sucks for both your QB... and your team. What's your question? Corkythehornetfan 19:37, 15 November 2015 (UTC)
Regarding the dashes, with the endashes and the emdashes which one is the shorter and which is the longer? And also a couple of years back a lot of the article titles for colleges were changed to have these elongated dashes, what's up with that? I'll show you an example of a college where I think it clearly doesn't make sense. Regarding the fixes it's just little stuff...On the MIAA football season article in the schedule section you have daggers to denote what are clearly the homecoming games but you do not denote the fact that's what they are for. Regarding the Hornets football season article in the infoboxes in the game notes section the games in September and October are marked with "CST", should be Daylight Time. It was just those two small things I found. You are especially right about Pitt State, they used to be a national powerhouse in days past. Central Mo. is on the bubble regarding getting a playoff berth today. Freddiem (talk) 20:47, 15 November 2015 (UTC)
En (shorter) produces –, Em (longer) produces —. They are also listed right above your edit summary box on the left side. I'm not sure about the dashes in school names, never understood it. (University of Wisconsin System schools use endash per this edit ). The homecoming issue should be fixed now. As for the times, thanks... I always get confused on which one to use! I appreciate you pointing them out. Hopefully I'll remember next time! (chances are very slim so you'll probably have to remind me again.) Check them out now... if they're wrong, please fix them. Corkythehornetfan 21:47, 15 November 2015 (UTC)
Sorry, for the delayed response...I got caught up with other things outside of Wikipedia, I even forgot to check on the selection show for the playoffs, which I am going to check now. I'll check your edits out and make any corrections using the method you have selected. Thanks 'Fan for your consideration as always. Freddiem (talk) 00:38, 16 November 2015 (UTC)
Hey, thank you! 🎄 Corkythehornetfan 🎄 00:56, 16 November 2015 (UTC)
In the Millersville University of Pennsylvania article check out the section "School of Humanities and Social Sciences: Degrees"...I'll let you do the honors! Freddiem (talk) 23:50, 17 November 2015 (UTC)
Gee, thanks! haha! It has been removed , along with a general clean up. 🎄 Corkythehornetfan 🎄 00:11, 18 November 2015 (UTC)
Freddiem, you wanna take care of this article, or do you want me to? 🎄 Corkythehornetfan 🎄 00:38, 18 November 2015 (UTC)
I have been working on it...I want to make the sports affiliations in the infoboxes for all the PSAC members at their school pages uniform, right now they are all over the map. I have been trying to decide which of two edits to make for them. One has been, of course, the edit you made at Millersville, the other is one I will make now at Mansfield. Let me know which one you think is preferable, make sure to check the history to see how it was before. Freddiem (talk) 00:52, 18 November 2015 (UTC)
In this case I don't like the way it looks, because of the sprint football...I think I will go your way with all of them in the PSAC. Freddiem (talk) 00:59, 18 November 2015 (UTC)
Oh, I was just talking about the Degrees section! As for the Sprint League issue, you could use {{nowrap|[[Collegiate Sprint Football League]]}}🎄 Corkythehornetfan 🎄 01:05, 18 November 2015 (UTC)
'Fan, thanks for the advice, now I have it the way I want it...though it took me a while to get it that way. If you approve, I will apply it to the rest of the PSAC school articles. Freddiem (talk) 01:30, 18 November 2015 (UTC)
I don't have a problem with it. It looks better that way! 🎄 Corkythehornetfan 🎄 01:38, 18 November 2015 (UTC)
Thanks for all the help! I saw that the Hornets drew Minn. St.-Mankato, last year's Nat'l. runner-up, but ya never know though. But hey playoffs is better than no playoffs and in the preseason polls the Hornets weren't expected to go anywhere in the conference. Freddiem (talk) 01:48, 18 November 2015 (UTC)
Unfortunately, I don't think we are going to win this one... this glass still remains half full, though! Like you said, it's better than no playoffs at all and I'm glad we've made it. Hopefully this postseason "thing" continues in the seasons to come for ESU. Keep up the good work, my friend! 🎄 Corkythehornetfan 🎄 01:56, 18 November 2015 (UTC)
Like with JMU and Bloomsburg this season, I'll watch one game on the internet and one on TV this Saturday. Will they have a link to an internet broadcast on the Hornets' website? If so I'll be tuning in. I have looked at where the Dukes stand right now, if they lose on Sat. they may not make the postseason. We will see...they have not been playing so hot lately and last week it was a much weaker team that they beat in the closing seconds. Freddiem (talk) 02:53, 18 November 2015 (UTC)
It may be streamed on MSU's website. ESU hasn't really released much details. Best of luck to the Dukes! 🎄 Corkythehornetfan 🎄 03:17, 18 November 2015 (UTC)
Good idea, I'll look there and on ncaa.com...thanks the Dukes will need plenty of luck, and the Hornets will take the place of Bloom on Sat. in my rooting section. Freddiem (talk) 03:25, 18 November 2015 (UTC)

FSU Colleges

This is an online encyclopedia and you are removing a bunch of FACTS. What is the purpose of this damn website if you can't put anything in the damn articles? You are making every article look terrible especially the college of business one. What is wrong with this website? It's an ENCYCLOPEDIA for christ's sake. You left a heading with "The college of business offers masters degrees". Are you kidding me right now? I clearly elaborated on the subject but according to you we can't elaborate now? You are deleting a bunch of rankings that clearly have references too? You are what's wrong with wikipedia. This website is going down the drain because of policies like this. The University of Florida also has the some great articles you could nitpick about.--SeminoleNation (talk) 15:38, 15 November 2015 (UTC)

Sorry you feel that way. A majority of the College of Business content was copied straight from the website. Do I need to point out them for you, or do you know which ones? I don't know who placed it there, nor do I really care, but they obviously don't belong here. You're more than welcome to re-add it, just as long as it isn't word-for-word from the website. We also don't list what majors are offered (e.g. B.S. in Business Admin.) per WP:UNIGUIDE. I also removed the logos per WP:NFC#UUI § 17 - each school has its own logo and therefore doesn't use the FSU main logo. Corkythehornetfan 15:48, 15 November 2015 (UTC)
Chin up, Corky; you're making good edits. Keep up the good work. If our colleague disagrees with our policies and norms then he or she is welcome to try to change them. ElKevbo (talk) 15:53, 15 November 2015 (UTC)
Are we just supposed to make up our own information? Most of these facts come straight from the University. I don't get how we're supposed to add content when we can't do anything. What's the point of putting in references if you could just say you got it straight from this website or that website or that book etc. I really don't understand Wikipedia. Are we not supposed to add content and facts? If I were to make up some info and put it in my own words then an editor will come and delete it because "there are no references". I really don't understand the point of this website then.--SeminoleNation (talk) 16:01, 15 November 2015 (UTC)
Using facts and statistics is absolutely permitted, but they should be supported by inline citations to the source material. What is not permitted is verbatim, i.e., word for word, copy-pasting of significant strings of text per WP:COPYVIO. We are supposed to paraphrase our sources, not plagiarize them and present them as if we wrote the text ourselves when we in fact copied it. Not that different than the rules for undergraduate term papers. I think these are Corky's major points. Dirtlawyer1 (talk) 16:08, 15 November 2015 (UTC)
Those are exactly my points, Dirtlawyer1. Thanks to both you and ElKevbo for commenting. Corkythehornetfan 16:23, 15 November 2015 (UTC)
Well a wikipedia beginners guide would have been helpful before I put in all this work in and wasted so much of my time. I made sure to cite every single sentence on every article I worked on but it's way too much work to expand these stubs on Wikipedia without copy and pasting some info straight from the source. I didn't know this website was meant to present articles as official academic research articles. I see no point in having this website when people could just go to university's webpage. You guys just gang up on inexperienced editors like me and pat each other on the back when one of you guys deletes something and then you leave. I would love to have some help on this since every editor I've ever interacted with on this website just seems to delete content and that's it. I'm the only one trying to expand these pages and it's really frustrating because nobody ever told me how I was really supposed to work on Wikipedia when I made my account. You guys seem like pretty experienced Wikipedia editors and have done nothing to help me out with the issue. Way to make me feel compelled to continue editing on Wikipedia.--SeminoleNation (talk) 16:46, 15 November 2015 (UTC)
I wouldn't call myself an "experienced" editor. I'm still learning something new about the Wikipedia guidelines each and every day, and I've been editing consistently for about two years. I learn by my mistakes and/or by what the more experienced users post. If I see something that is not right and have no idea what the guideline is for that, I ask. There is no "trying to gang up on you", but there is experienced editors – like Dirtlawyer1 and ElKevbo – trying to help you out. I don't expand articles unless it is one I care about, and that is mostly in the Midwest region. I do remove content that doesn't belong and I update the infoboxes. That's pretty much it. If you want something to read and help you understand the guidelines better, I would suggest reading Wikipedia:Simplified ruleset and go from there. If you have a question, ask an experienced user or go to the Teahouse, and someone will be able to help you. You are frustrated right now and statements like "You are what's wrong with wikipedia" will not get you anywhere with the help of others or in life. Corkythehornetfan 18:17, 15 November 2015 (UTC)
Yeah I said that because I'm calling it how I see it. I don't sugarcoat anything. All I see is editors removing content and deleting images. I have yet to see an editor try to expand anything on any article. Please don't try to give me any life lessons on success in the real world. I can guarantee you that I definitely don't need it. The only reason I made an account is because the Florida State University articles were completely abandoned. Most of these articles have been reduced to stubs and have stayed that way for over 5 years. Somebody has to speak up about this and if I have to be "that guy" on Wikipedia than so be it. You obviously aren't helping so have a good day. I hope I can change someone's mind on how they approach their "editing" on this site.--SeminoleNation (talk) 19:00, 15 November 2015 (UTC)

Ramblin' Wreck from Georgia Tech

The lyrics are definitely in the public domain - "In 1905, Georgia Tech adopted the tune as its official fight song, though it had already been the unofficial fight song for several years." Disavian (talk) 02:48, 17 November 2015 (UTC)

@Disavian: My suggestion would be to read WP:NOT#LYRICS § 2 and go from there. It says something about Wikisource and how you can link it from there. 🎄 Corkythehornetfan 🎄 03:45, 17 November 2015 (UTC)

13,500

Agreed 13,500 articles on your watch list is way too much :-), and I'm just about to hit that number as my edit number, took only nine and a half years to do it... :-). Anyhow I made the edits on the PSAC articles, I saw your tweak to my edit at Mansfield Univ., I used that and applied it to the rest of the PSAC East schools. Good collaborative effort. But check out the article title on West Chester Univ. Also I wanted to discuss the editing of a certain editor, and how I might handle it, I won't use names if you prefer. It basically comes down to what I saw at the top of the MOS "use common sense." I've let the issue ride for well over a year, at the time of the issue an editor you know also wrote on his talk page addressing pretty much the same issue, both of us received no response whatsoever. I checked the article in question a few months back and the edit history of the article shows basically him just reverting anyone else's edits. The issue is really a small one and the only reason I'm reminded of it is that this pain editor was right below me on the edit count the other day, and on that same day, the other editor who also had a beef with him was conversing here on your talk page in your defense on the FSU issue. Other than that I had pretty much forgotten about it. If you don't want to discuss it, let me know that and it's forgotten, no problem. Freddiem (talk) 00:18, 19 November 2015 (UTC)

HA! I'd like to know what some of the users who have been here for 5+ years have or those who have been here since the beginning... or even admins! What's wrong with the name? "of Pennsylvania" I think is fine in the lead sentence, but per WP:COMMONNAME, it should be left out of the article title. (Google shows 50.5 million for w/out of PA, and 14.4 million w/PA). It's kind of like University at Buffalo, which it's full name is State University of New York at Buffalo. If that isn't what you are talking about, please elaborate more.
As far as the issue with another editor goes, if the problem continues and they don't want to respond to you or others, I'd usually go to an admin. Bagumba is your guy for sports related articles. If you want various admins to view the problem, you can take it to the Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents. I go an admin for the noticeboard... which I've never taken something there before. Would you be willing to give me the article so I can see more of the situation, just so I know what it is specifically you're talking about? If you don't want to share it here, you can email me (click the link), or if you don't want to share at all, that is fine too. I'm guessing it's an ownership/personal attack issues by the other party if they keep reverting everyone's edits so it's "their way"? Or is it something different? Sorry for the late response, had to leave for a bit. 🎄 Corkythehornetfan 🎄 01:38, 19 November 2015 (UTC)
Sorry for the very delayed response; after my last post I turned on "Hardball" and got "tired", literally, of his nonsense...I fell asleep and woke up five hours later. With the West Chester Univ. article title, the one overriding thing is that each of the other, 13 of the 14 state-owned universities (Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education (PASSHE) members) has "of Pennsylvania" in the article title. As for the article and issue with the pain editor, I'll get back to you tomorrow. I am going to finish my work on the PSAC West now. Regarding the edit count, in the past couple of months, I past one of the founders, Jimmy Wales. Freddiem (talk) 06:53, 19 November 2015 (UTC)
Congrats! You can either move the article yourself to include "of Pennsylvania" or request a move. 🎄 Corkythehornetfan 🎄 22:24, 19 November 2015 (UTC)
Thanks!...I completed all the PSAC West edits, but there is a lot more work I see to do on those articles. I am going to go ahead and make the move with the West Chester Univ. article. Freddiem (talk) 23:40, 19 November 2015 (UTC)
Freddiem, I didn't look real closely until now, but you may have an editor who will not agree with your move. See here for the requested move (18 August 2015) and their reason was WP:COMMONNAME... 🎄 Corkythehornetfan 🎄 02:27, 20 November 2015 (UTC)
Sorry again for the quite delayed response, fell asleep again for the same time period as the night before...Ugh!!! This really puts a whole new wrench into the process. As you can see I made an extensive edit summary. Now, I can see the possibility for disagreement...Ugh!!! Anyhow, you know with that little change I made to synchronize the PSAC articles on the athletic affiliation, hardly any of them were the same before at all. For the rest of the story, now it begins to get complicated...so I'll have to drop you an e-mail like you suggested earlier, hopefully I'll get to it in the afternoon. Thanks, for the heads up. Freddiem (talk) 05:46, 20 November 2015 (UTC)
'Fan, it'll be probably tomorrow before I send an e-mail, just too disgusted with everything right now. I just received an e-mail from the JMU alumni association notifying me that the tv broadcast for tomorrow's game has been cancelled. Comcast Sports Net Philadelphia was supposed to show the game since they were playing Villanova. But Comcast has decided to only produce the W&M vs. Richmond and only show that game. So I'll be forced to watch the JMU game on the internet and will then only be able to keep track of the Hornets game by the stats cast over the web. Ever since Comcast took over NBC Universal, it's been a litany of things that have been for the worst. Freddiem (talk) 03:04, 21 November 2015 (UTC)
Sorry I never responded, I got distracted with something else on here and forgot about it. You can always start a discussion if you think the name should be changed, but most will disagree with you per common name. You've done a good job keeping the articles consistent! Sorry to hear about that... but the web is better than not being able to watch at all! And take your time on the email. No hurry. 🎄 Corkythehornetfan 🎄 03:43, 21 November 2015 (UTC)
No problem, no response is "never responded", here we are just a little delayed, we have lives to live, of course! As for the JMU game, yes at least I can watch it on the web, but my internet access isn't the best, and sometimes live streaming can be interrupted. Plus, I wanted to watch the Hornets on the web while watching the Dukes on tv and now that idea is shot. Oh well... Freddiem (talk) 04:10, 21 November 2015 (UTC)
Hornets!!!!!! Heart attack city!!!! Had to listen to both games audio broadcast...Stretch Internet video was interrupted too much for both games, Dukes and Hornets, had to listen to the Mankato audio broadcast, tried to get the Emporia audio but couldn't figure that one out though I found the link. Mankato audio broadcast were big homers. On to next week for the Hornets and Dukes! Woo hoo!!! Like I said, "you never know"!!! Freddiem (talk) 22:19, 21 November 2015 (UTC)
Haha! I was on the edge of my seat there towards the end! Congrats on your Dukes! 🎄 Corkythehornetfan 🎄 22:43, 21 November 2015 (UTC)
Was able to watch the first half of the Hornets game, being on YouTube the broadcast came in good. Then at halftime I went to get a bottle of water and all hell broke lose with my parents, and I missed the rest of the game. Anyhow, Congrats to ESU! Good thing it wasn't the Dukes I missed. Did you see JMU got a bye and got a #5 national seed? The committee must think Madison still has their star QB. AS for the promised e-mail, I am looking at the "lay of the land" to assess the situation and what I should do about the West Chester deal and the rest of it. Freddiem (talk) 22:50, 28 November 2015 (UTC)
@Freddiem: As much as I HATE those all gold uniforms, I'm thinking we really need to wear them this week at Northwest Missouri... we've played good with them! Saw that... 5 is better than 7! Good luck to the Dukes! 🎄 Corkythehornetfan 🎄 22:34, 29 November 2015 (UTC)
Speaking of uniforms I saw on the ESU athletics website a "blue" football uniform, what's up with that?? :-) With the seeding for JMU it's a national seed at #5; with ESU that #7 is a regional seed. But like I said, without our QB, the seed is completely bogus. The Dukes will play Colgate this weekend; good thing I put away my Colgate jacket for the winter, it's too cold for it now. :-) Btw, on the 2015 ESU football article, the last couple of weeks you have introduced postal abbreviations for the states in both the schedule and the game summaries. Before that you were using traditional abbreviations. The postal abbreviations look better and are the standard and what you used last year. So even though it's more work, I'd go with the postal abbv. Freddiem (talk) 02:52, 30 November 2015 (UTC)
You may need to make an appointment with your optometrist, because ESU ain't got no "blue" uniforms! They've got gray, but certainly not blue! As for the seeding, it's still better than 7... but that goes to show you how much I know/care about the whole seeding thing at all levels! Thanks for the comment about the article, I'll check it out. 🎄 Corkythehornetfan 🎄 18:15, 30 November 2015 (UTC)

Font tags in navboxes

Corkythehornetfan, I noticed you've made a number of edits to introduce font tags into the titles of navboxes, e.g. Template:Pittsburg State Gorillas football coach navbox. I was under the impression that these font tags were deprecated, and that the preferred way to format colors there was to use span tags or templates that employ spans tags, like Template:White. Jweiss11 (talk) 05:34, 25 November 2015 (UTC)

Jweiss11: I'm not sure about that, but I noticed that it used a white underline when you hover over the link, unlike {{color|white|example}}. Another user had done this with all NCAA Division II conference navboxes, which is when I noticed the white underline. If it is wrong, then I will revert my edits... I just thought having that underline in white is helpful (so you can tell it's a link), as well as saving time when typing. The white underline helps in navboxes that have a dark colored background. 🎄 Corkythehornetfan 🎄 15:49, 25 November 2015 (UTC)
I think that underlining doesn't render in all browsers. It does work for me in Chrome. @Frietjes: and @BU Rob13:, can either of you shed some light on this topic? Thanks, Jweiss11 (talk) 07:56, 26 November 2015 (UTC)
Fair enough, that slipped my mind when I changed them. I checked them in both IE and Mozilla Fox and the line doesn't show in either one of those. I have Safari which shows. I'll revert my edits. 🎄 Corkythehornetfan 🎄 13:01, 26 November 2015 (UTC)
Thanks for going back and making the changes. Jweiss11 (talk) 00:31, 30 November 2015 (UTC)
correct, <font>...</font> is deprecated and not supported in HTML5, but color of the underlining isn't modified by span tags. I can go into more details if you are interested, but basically, I believe you can't change the underline color in HTML5 without using a CSS class, or javascript, or something non-obvious. Frietjes (talk) 15:17, 30 November 2015 (UTC)

File:United Parcel Service logo.svg

You added {{Cleanup SVG}} to this image (Diff). Can you elaborate?–Totie (talk) 18:59, 25 November 2015 (UTC)

Totie, I don't remember exactly why but I'm guessing I was thinking the border between the gold and brown (on right side) needed cleaned up because it looks blurry. I don't really remember, buy I'm guessing it was that. If you think nothing is wrong with the file, then please make no changes and remove the tag. 🎄 Corkythehornetfan 🎄 00:26, 26 November 2015 (UTC)
I've had a glance at the code, but it seems to look fine. I do see the fuzzy edges and lines as well and I presume that this is a problem with the engine. The image is fairly complex with lots of little parts, gradients and masks and I think that this just isn't rendered properly yet. It should be possible to recreate it in order to improve the quality, but it's quite a bit of work and given that the logo has been succeeded by a new version, I doubt that anyone will make the effort. College sports navboxes

Corky, I see that you've TfD'd a number of underpopulated navbox templates like Template:Toledo Rockets baseball coach navbox of late. Rather than going this route, wouldn't it be a better use of everyone's time to just stub out a few of the red links there rather than deleting such navboxes, which are are members of an established and justified class, and then having to recreate them down the road? In my opinion, that should've been thought of before creating the templates... 🎄 Corkythehornetfan 🎄 01:25, 30 November 2015 (UTC)
@Jweiss11: We should not be putting Corky on the spot for nominating navboxes that clearly fail the NAVBOX guidelines, JW. Perhaps we should be doing an inventory of these very marginal navboxes (one link, really?), reminding the template creators of the applicable criteria and that the templates are subject to deletion in their present state, and proactively stubbing them out. I have helped stub-out several articles recently in order to save coach navboxes that would have otherwise been deleted, but no one should feel obligated to participate in all-hands-on-deck efforts to save them when creators have ignored the criteria in creating them. Recent TfDs have taken 3 to 4 weeks before close, which is plenty of time for the creator to stub-out 3 or 4 articles. It is not fair to put that burden on other editors when the creator is unwilling. That said, it is not entirely clear that a substantial number of Toledo baseball coaches would survive a GNG critical analysis. Dirtlawyer1 (talk) 01:36, 30 November 2015 (UTC)
DL, I wasn't aiming to put Corky on the spot for any one template nomination. Rather, I was aiming to suggest a better process going forward. I saw your suggestion on my talk page about creating three stubs for the Toledo baseball coach navbox. I'm happy to take up on that offer. Jweiss11 (talk) 01:47, 30 November 2015 (UTC)
I'm willing to withdraw the nomination, as long as you keep your word. 🎄 Corkythehornetfan 🎄 02:04, 30 November 2015 (UTC)
Thank you, Corky. JW's word is good as gold. Dirtlawyer1 (talk) 02:15, 30 November 2015 (UTC)
