Emporia State University

I noticed you removed Kappa Sigma from the Fraternity section with the explanation "They're under investigation and will most likely lose their charter." From my understanding of WP:SPECULATION, Kappa Sigma should remain in the article (with perhaps "(suspended)" after the name) until they actually lose their charter. Contributor321 (talk) 18:39, 3 December 2015 (UTC)

Sounds good, I'll re-add it. Thanks! 🎄 Corkythehornetfan 🎄 18:43, 3 December 2015 (UTC)

Your edits to Tulane

Please see the section I just created on the Tulane University article talk page regarding its official colors. I appreciate that you're trying to do things by the book, but the reference that was there refers to outdated web standards, and it's a page that's orphaned on Tulane's website (note it's no longer available from the main page referring to standards: http://tulane.edu/communications/identity/index.cfm). --Bobster687 (talk) 19:42, 8 December 2015 (UTC)

@Bobster687: This page goes directly to the website that you've mentioned. Plus, The C-USA style guide shows PMS 3435 ( ) which is listed on the page I've listed. I will go for the code ( ) listed on this page. This page shows clearly it's a darker color. PMS 640 (Sky blue) may be closest to #4388CC ( ) - which can be used for athletics - but I think Tulane blue ( ) should still be used for academics. 🎄 Corkythehornetfan 🎄 03:34, 13 December 2015 (UTC)

Arizona Diamondbacks

Hello, I was just wondering what would happen if I changed some things on the Arizona Diamondbacks' article? Specifically, I just wanted to know if I edited it constructively (changing the formatting and updating the references) would constitute violating the three-revert rule? I don't want to violate it, but I just need to know if me making another edit as I just said I wanted to do (based on the edit history) would constitute violating the 3RR? Or should I wait until the 24 hours time has expired? The last thing I want to have happen is being blocked again, this time indefinitely, for violating the 3RR. Charlesaaronthompson (talk) 21:58, 8 December 2015 (UTC)

@Charlesaaronthompson: y'all were warring over the owner, correct? If so, this edit was fine except you still removed the Jeffrey guy. Not sure if that was an attempt to cover up the removal of it or what. It looks as if they were not in a 24-hour timeframe, so you should be fine. Just because it wasn't in a 24-hour time frame doesn't mean that it won't stop an admin, though. I had warned both Dbacksfan22 and Kaiburton for edit-warring and they haven't edited since. 🎄 Corkythehornetfan 🎄 08:19, 9 December 2015 (UTC)

Alumni and Notability

"Alumni: Still needs an article..." seems to suggest that only people with an article about them can be notable. Wikipedia:Notability (people) disagrees, "People are presumed notable if they have received significant coverage in multiple published secondary sources that are reliable, intellectually independent of each other, and independent of the subject."

Those more than cover "multiple published secondary sources that are reliable, intellectually independent of each other, and independent of the subject." Abel (talk) 13:46, 10 December 2015 (UTC)

Then you should be able to create an article on the person, Id4abel. 🎄 Corkythehornetfan 🎄 19:30, 10 December 2015 (UTC)
I agree with your specific statement above but I also agree with Abel that the notability guidelines do not govern what is included in articles, only what is suitable to be the main topic of an article. In fact, the main notability guideline is explicit on this point: "The notability guideline does not determine the content of articles, but only whether the topic should have its own article." It is extraordinarily commonplace for material included in an article to not be notable enough to warrant a separate, dedicated article but still be important enough to include in another article.
This, of course, in no way relieves editors of the responsibility of providing reliable sources supporting content they wish to add. Unsourced material can always be challenged and removed. But that - along with due weight - is the bar for inclusion in an article, not whether the proposed content itself warrants an article. ElKevbo (talk) 21:15, 10 December 2015 (UTC)
The point is that no one needs to create another article. Abel (talk) 11:39, 11 December 2015 (UTC)

Broken seal

The seal image at University of Oklahoma is broken after your edits to that page and the image file. ―Mandruss  01:42, 15 December 2015 (UTC)

I know... I'm trying to fix the problem, but have no idea how to fix that. 🎄 Corkythehornetfan 🎄 01:48, 15 December 2015 (UTC)
My uneducated guess is that PNG format is not scalable, so image_size has no effect. In that case the fix there would be to revert your replacement of the image. Also it seems the File: syntax is needed for that infobox. ―Mandruss  01:50, 15 December 2015 (UTC)
I tagged the image to be reduced to a smaller size by a bot so that it complies with Wikipedia's guidelines shortly after I uploaded the file. It should be fine after that. They usually are. If it isn't fixed in 24 hours, I'll ask someone. 🎄 Corkythehornetfan 🎄 02:01, 15 December 2015 (UTC)
I reduced it to 200 and that seems to have fixed the problem, no File: syntax needed. ―Mandruss  02:19, 15 December 2015 (UTC)
Alright, it would've been done in a few hours. Personally I think 200px is too small. I think the file bot would've reduced it to the 300s, which I think is where it needs to be, so I'm gonna make it at least 300px. 🎄 Corkythehornetfan 🎄 02:26, 15 December 2015 (UTC)
1. Sorry, I couldn't see leaving an infobox broken for even a few hours. 2. So the infobox will reduce it to 200 anyway, and that's the only place it will ever be used. For lack of a better explanation, I'll assume we're building in some extra size for future-proofing. Deferring to your judgment. ―Mandruss  02:35, 15 December 2015 (UTC)
And the reader can click thru to the larger image for a better look. Never mind 2. ―Mandruss  02:43, 15 December 2015 (UTC)
That's my guess. I've seen the file bot a lot and I've seen it reduce to the 300px a lot. 🎄 Corkythehornetfan 🎄 02:48, 15 December 2015 (UTC)
LOL. Now it's broken again. ―Mandruss  03:13, 15 December 2015 (UTC)
I reverted back to your version. It wasn't broken when I uploaded it to 325px... I hope the 200px works again. I reverted my edits on the article, as well. 🎄 Corkythehornetfan 🎄 03:25, 15 December 2015 (UTC)

Happy New Year!

@Corkythehornetfan:, thanks for the New Year's greeting on my talk page, it is much appreciated! I just dropped the long promised and overdue e-mail. BTW, thank you for being a friend!

Hello, Corkythehornetfan. Please check your email; you've got mail!
It may take a few minutes from the time the email is sent for it to show up in your inbox. You can remove this notice at any time by removing the {{You've got mail}} or {{ygm}} template.

@Freddiem: No probelm, thanks to you as well! As for the email, I'm afraid I didn't receive it. Corkythehornetfan19:07, 1 January 2016 (UTC)
@Corkythehornetfan: Yeah, I just checked my e-mail in-box, and it never received the copy of the e-mail that I requested to be sent. I guess it's lost forever, it detailed the "pain" editor, but the e-mail was too long and drawn out anyhow, so maybe it's for the best that it did not send after all. I guess I could explain it in short on my talk page, if you want me to. But not today, I'm plain exhausted from writing it, and having been awake so long. Freddiem (talk) 22:38, 1 January 2016 (UTC)

I Need Help...

Let me know here as soon as you get back on, I have another editor threatening me here on Wikipedia. It's not the "pain" editor either, this guy has really gone off the deep end. Almost ten years here and no real bother, now this guy. Freddiem (talk) 20:15, 4 January 2016 (UTC)

@Freddiem: Where have you used the "minor edit" check box in your contributions? I'm not following that user... I don't think that a majority of your edits need reviewed, though per the When to mark section. (IMO) ❄ Corkythehornetfan21:22, 4 January 2016 (UTC)
(talk page stalker) Actually, nearly all of Freddiem's contributions in the last few months are marked as minor... ScrpIronIV 21:13, 4 January 2016 (UTC)
@ScrapIronIV: Yikes... I see that now! I'm blind apparently! I don't think that a majority Freddie's edits need reviewed, though per the When to mark section. ❄ Corkythehornetfan21:19, 4 January 2016 (UTC)
No, they really (mostly) seem to be minor, but often add up to five or six edits in a row making that claim questionable. @Freddiem:. really, this seems to be an issue of just starting to use more edit summaries, and not checking "minor" by default. I can see where that would be seen as problematic by some. It's not anything to really argue over, a minor change in process, Freddie, and nobody will have anything to complain about. Your edits seem fine. ScrpIronIV 21:24, 4 January 2016 (UTC)
@ScrapIronIV:Thanks both you guys, I will take your advice. I have been making edit summaries on nearly 99.9% of my edits over the last few years, so I guess it's not necessary to mark it as minor, I just got in the habit of doing it. To see the rest of the story... Freddiem (talk) 21:43, 4 January 2016 (UTC)
Sorry about not explaining further earlier. This editor left the warning on my talk page after a dispute with him last night. You have to go to his talk page to see the beginning of the dispute, you have to look at the whole thing on his talk page to see it, it's a couple sections up from the bottom. As you'll see I am most generous with this guy at the beginning but he gives the most evasive and contradictory answers, one after another. At one point he asks me to check the code, which is how I was able to figure out the fix in the first place. So he says the way I put the code it's not like that in any of the other cases. So when I point out several cases in the code that have it the way I had it in my edit, he says it should not be that way, go figure. The guy's completely obstinate. Well, I left the discussion last night and decided I should let it alone. But then today the guy stalks me and puts a warning on my talk page. Completely not cool in my book. And he threatens to have me banned, and heck if any one should be disciplined it's this guy reverting people with Twinkle and not leaving an edit summary time and time again. When I call him out on this you will not believe his excuse. Check his talk page, it's almost all other editors asking why he made a revert and asking for an explanation. He has already been granted a bunch of editing tools and appears to be abusing them. One of the messages suggests that if he wants to go for admin that the other editor would support him. Maybe that is on his user page though. Anyhow, I'd hate to think this guy could get admin powers and what he'd do with them. Freddiem (talk) 21:47, 4 January 2016 (UTC)
Just like you have felt over the last few months, 'Hornetfan, I'm thinking I need Wikipedia like I need a hole in the head. :-( Freddiem (talk) 23:30, 4 January 2016 (UTC)
Sorry for the late response... I left to go watch some basketball. I know how ya feel -- I'd suggest avoiding s/he for a while. If the problem persists, and s/he continues to threaten you with a block, take I would take it to an Admin. That's what I would do. ❄ Corkythehornetfan03:02, 5 January 2016 (UTC)
No problem. Thanks for the advice. I think it calls for a break from Wikipedia for me for a while, the last time I took a break it was for a little over three months. I don't think it will be that long though. Anyhow, I hope you enjoyed the basketball game. If you don't mind me asking, was it a local game you attended or watched one on tv? A couple of weeks back I attended a girls' basketball game one night and a wrestling match the next at the local high school. I have not attended a boys' basketball game yet. But the three teams together have one victory so far this season last time I checked. Just a couple years ago the teams were tremendous, but in the last few years the school district has lost a lot of population, along with a lot of students. For instance, during the wrestling dual meet they had to forfeit five of the fourteen bouts, because they did not have the numbers. On the JV and Junior High teams they had a few girls on the wrestling squads, nothing wrong with that but they can't compete on the same level for the most part. Though I did see a girl win once, it was awesome. Anyhow, the local HS is the only game in town. I live in a pretty rural area, the local school is only five miles, but any other school is like twenty miles away and any movie theatre is where those other schools are, twenty miles in any direction. Freddiem (talk) 03:55, 5 January 2016 (UTC)
@Freddiem: I went to watch the Emporia State Lady Hornets and Hornets play Lindenwood. (only stayed until half time of the men's game because they're aren't that good.) I cannot watch sports on TV... I have to be there in person. I get bored real easily just watching it on tv, which is why I didn't watch the KU-Oklahoma game last night, which I heard was C-R-A-Z-Y! haha! I don't even watch the Super Bowl or World Series because of this!
Sorry if my previous responses seem short. I'm the type a person that is short, simple, and to the point... no matter how many questions are asked! ❄ Corkythehornetfan08:40, 6 January 2016 (UTC)
This is Freddiem, I am sorry for getting back to you in such a delayed manner, I hope you will accept my apology. As you can see I have not logged on to my account for several days, and am on an IP address, so I did not see you made a response, until I just checked now. I'm worried this other editor might still be stalking...if after leaving a final message on his talk page which I don't respond to in which he threatens me...And then goes on my talk page and leaves a warning in an obvious maneuver to intimidate. Who knows what I'm dealing with in this person, and what he will do. And I noticed that just yesterday on his talk page he responds to another editor with this statement (verbatim): "honestly I am suprised that you as an admin reverted so much without it being vandalism." Hmm, that's what he did to me and what most of the other editor's messages on his talk page object to him doing. No need for a response from you really, it's just enough to know that you have read enough to understand the situation that's all. Yes, you are short, simple and to the point in your responses, I respect that, and I am the opposite: long-winded, complicated, and rambling; but you already know that. :-) Anyhow, when I didn't explain the whole situation in my first entry in this thread, things got a little confused. Well, after I asked you the question about the basketball game, I figured it was the Lady Hornets and/or Hornets. But I wasn't sure you were back at school yet. I see the Lady Hornets defeated Central Oklahoma, the other night...gives you a little bragging rights with UCObluejay, though I wonder why "bluejay" considering they are nicknamed the Bronchos. It's great to see you have such a good working relationship with him and can collaborate so well on the MIAA project. I see the Lady Hornets are doing pretty well, but surprised they lost to Mo. Southern, but they will get a chance for revenge down the line against them. The game against Mo. Western on this coming Sat. should be a real test. As for the men's team, I see what you mean...their season has been as bad as those of my local HS teams this winter as I mentioned last time. I'll check back here to check on a response, otherwise I will be off Wikipedia, until my blood no longer boils at the mere thought of Wikipedia. I thank you for your patience, and hope you will read all this. It's therapeutic for me to get these things out there anyhow. I'll follow the Lady Hornets to see how they are doing, and go down to the local high school to catch some games to keep myself occupied and off Wikipedia. And yes, I know what you mean about watching sports on tv; I get bored, get on the laptop at the same time and can't concentrate on the game. I can't tell you how many Super Bowls I have fallen asleep in the middle of, and awoken after the game is over. Freddiem. 204.186.26.232 (talk) 04:09, 11 January 2016 (UTC)
No problem, we all need that someone we can vent to. Just make sure you don't do any general editing while logged out or they'll block you. I've added his page to my list to see how it goes. Can you say where he may be stalking you at? If so, he could be in violations of Wiki policy. Yes, UCO2009bluejay has been great to work with! We need to get the MIAA out there. Stay off of Wikipedia as long as you need to; health is more important than editing a website. Cheers ❄ Corkythehornetfan22:16, 11 January 2016 (UTC)

State of the Union (TV series)

Hi Corky, got your note. Any idea what the correct title of State of the Union (TV series) should be? I'll move it if necessary. Thanks. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 02:13, 8 January 2016 (UTC)

@Cyphoidbomb: It should remain as is. This simply saves us from changing it every time the presenter changes. It's much like NBC Nightly News, CBS Evening News, and ABC World News Tonight. We usually include the show name w/presenter in the lead like those three articles. Move protected is the best thing right now. ❄ Corkythehornetfan02:24, 8 January 2016 (UTC)
I've protected it for 3 months, sysop only. If you have any problems, lemme know. Page move vandalism sucks. Confusing as hell. Take care. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 02:27, 8 January 2016 (UTC)

Lindenwood University edits

Hey Corkythehornetfan.... I made edits to Lindenwood University page, including the motto and the colors. Chris Duggan from the PR Office is correct in that the hex code #B5A268. The source is from the University's internal style guide, which is not available online yet so cannot be referenced in code URL. — Preceding unsigned comment added by RachelJohnsonLU (talkcontribs)

@RachelJohnsonLU: That's fine, I just wasn't sure why you changed them to #B7A66D... Also, there isn't need for the three paragraphs about President Shonrock. That info can be found on his article (which is linked). I also updated the logo to a transparent version, which is much cleaner and looks better in an article (it is also preferred we use transparent pngs). Thanks for updating the article! ❄ Corkythehornetfan18:07, 12 January 2016 (UTC)

There was a discrepancy with the hex codes but they are correct now. Thanks for verifying. I disagree about the brief additional information on Lindenwood's president being included and I think that's your subjective opinion, but there's not much I can do about that. Also, I think his photo should be included, but I've tried to add it a few times and I guess you aren't allowing it? The logo was entirely incorrect to begin with, but thanks for changing it to a transparent png if that is what is preferred. — Preceding unsigned comment added by RachelJohnsonLU (talkcontribs)

@RachelJohnsonLU: Unfortunately, you removed the photo in this edit. You did try to insert it again, but you just left a blank space. I will re-add the photo for you. I don't mind his picture being in the article simply because I put ESU's president's photo in the main university article (did with Shonrock when he was there). As for including additional information about the university president, it is the Wikipedia:WikiProject Universities standard to just include a sentence or two (pretty much like it is now) in the university articles about the university president. You are more than welcome to take up the issue there. ❄ Corkythehornetfan20:44, 12 January 2016 (UTC)

Thanks for adding the president's photo back in. I tried uploading it and inserting several times, but received an error message no matter what file type I used.

RachelJohnsonLU, no problem; thanks for keeping the article up-to-date! The file is on Wikimedia Commons (link goes to image), Wikipedia's sister-site for public domain files. Let me know if you have any more questions! ❄ Corkythehornetfan20:59, 12 January 2016 (UTC)

Drexel Mens Lacrosse

Keep the stinkin external links up and give the tiresome wiki-land lawyering up a rest. I'm just being direct. Generally as a rule I care not at all of the Wiki community reaction. Keep the links up and please go hassle someone else. Thank you! 10stone5 (talk) 06:04, 24 January 2016 (UTC)

You don't own the article. Those categories are in the primary categorizes so they are redundant. Also, follow WP:EL and don't add those links to the section. If you didn't figure it out by now, I won't leave it alone. It's not hard to follow the guidelines. ❄ Corkythehornetfan08:11, 24 January 2016 (UTC)
I'll say it again. Leave the article as is. It is that way for a good reason. I'm not interested in your wiki lawyer chatter. This article is read by a select group. If you have any tie in to Drexel lacrosse I'm all ears. But I think you're just interested in being a Wiki troll. I'll say it again. Leave the article as is. Give the wiki lawyering up a rest. And go hassle someone else. 10stone5 (talk) 23:48, 24 January 2016 (UTC)
@10stone5: And I will say it again: you do not own the article. We need to keep articles throughout Wikipedia consistent and this page isn't any more special than the others simply because you want it your way. If you'd like to keep this up, I'll be glad to take it to the administrators. ❄ Corkythehornetfan23:53, 24 January 2016 (UTC)

Emporia State University

Hi Corky. I noticed one of your edits in the History section resulted in the following sentence: "Although Emporia State was established in 1863, it was not until February 15, 1865." Thought you should know and would want to fix it. Contributor321 (talk) 01:43, 28 January 2016 (UTC)

Thanks, Contributor321! It's been fixed. Feel free to re-word it if what I wrote doesn't make sense. ❄ Corkythehornetfan03:11, 28 January 2016 (UTC)

University of Maine

Hi Corky. I saw that you deleted the athletic logo, but didn't leave an explanation. Just curious - was there a problem with it? Thanks. Contributor321 (talk) 23:15, 29 January 2016 (UTC)

@Contributor321: Sorry for not leaving an explanation. I deleted it because others are going thru and discussing whether they meet criteria (an example would be this one). The main athletics logo should only be used in the main athletics article and individual sports should have their own individual team logo or an athletics wordmark. You can add the athletics wordmark to the university article if you'd like. To simply save the time (and hassle) of others, I'm just going ahead and replacing the main logo in other articles with either the individual sport logo or an athletics wordmark. Hope this helps! ❄ Corkythehornetfan05:03, 30 January 2016 (UTC)
Corkythehornetfan, I see that you have done this to multiple University articles, historically the standard has been that a fair use representation of the athletics branding is used to communicate to the reader the main athletics logo within the University article. On several articles you deleted the primary logo for the entire athletics department for example, on North Dakota State University and University of Vermont. These do not fit within the explanation which you had posted in response to Contributor321. With these articles, I have reverted your edits as they aren't aligning with this explanation nor do they fit within any existing rule or guideline. I'm unclear how the image of a college/university mascot is eligible under your thinking but not the main athletics logo on other articles. Blanksamurai (talk) 17:25, 1 February 2016 (UTC)
@Blanksamurai:Again, like I stated above -- you can read this Files For Discussion (which is one of many). When someone else removes it, like User:Marchjuly or User:Stefan2, then take it up with them. I'm only doing it to save the hassle since they've been going around and doing it. You can also read WP:NFC#UUI §17. ❄ Corkythehornetfan18:15, 1 February 2016 (UTC)
I've gone ahead and ffd'd them. You can discuss it there. You'd also be violating WP:NFCC#10c since you didn't include a separate fur for the university article. ❄ Corkythehornetfan18:25, 1 February 2016 (UTC)

Oral Roberts Golden Eagles baseball

Hi Corkythehornetfan. I think the image from the team's offcial Twitter and Facebook accounts should be also OK if you want to get a little more team specific than the standard wordmark. Almost positive it's non-copyrightable and thus there should be no problems with Commons. This one would probably workfor both basketball teams as well, though only the women's team is using it on their Twitter account. -- Marchjuly (talk) 00:45, 30 January 2016 (UTC)

@Marchjuly: Thanks. I don't really care what is used in the articles, as long as something is there. If someone wants to do those, they can' but I'll probably stick with just the wordmarks unless an individual sport logo is given in a brand guidelines. ❄ Corkythehornetfan05:07, 30 January 2016 (UTC)

Hex colors for yellow, gold and old gold . . . .

Hey, Cork. We're going to need to change the electric yellow color band for members of the College Football HOF and Pro Football HOF to something more subdued. Can you put together a dozen or so sample gold-ish hex colors that are not electrically bright and obnoxious? It would also be helpful if you could show the samples of the gold-ish hex colors with white text reversed out for contrast comparison purposes -- sort of like your user signature graphics. At your convenience -- no rush. Thanks. Dirtlawyer1 (talk) 21:33, 29 January 2016 (UTC)

@Dirtlawyer1: I'll work on it over the weekend. I should have it done by Sunday at the latest. ❄ Corkythehornetfan21:51, 29 January 2016 (UTC)
Thanks, Corky. Whenever you can get to it will be fine. Dirtlawyer1 (talk) 09:53, 30 January 2016 (UTC)
  • @Dirtlawyer1: Is this sort of what you are wanting? The font would have to be black since white font has horrible contrast unless it's a darker color gold. The only other trouble is they all pretty much look the same... I'll get around to making the rest this week. ❄ Corkythehornetfan00:10, 1 February 2016 (UTC)

Corky, I think the darker, more subdued gold -- almost an old gold -- like your signature, is the direction to go, but put together a spectrum of colors with your sig color somewhere near the middle. Thanks. Dirtlawyer1 (talk) 00:15, 1 February 2016 (UTC)
Will do. Thanks for the quick reply! ❄ Corkythehornetfan00:16, 1 February 2016 (UTC)
  • @Dirtlawyer1: I've been working on the gold in my sandbox. They definitely do not like white font or the url and I've been trying to mess around with them. I've got one with an external link, white font, and black font. The color I use is Number 7... six different codes on each side. Some are metallic, some are old gold, and some are just gold. If you are able to change the link color to white, great; if not, I'll need to go lighter. If there are a couple you really like, I'll try and work more around those. Thought? ❄ Corkythehornetfan22:31, 4 February 2016 (UTC)
. . . or we could go with a darker old gold, bright white text, and only use the box-arrow link symbol for the actual hypertext link, thus eliminating the need for electric blue text for the hypertext link. Just a thought. In any event, the neon electric yellow needs to go -- it was only added to Infobox NFL player in 2014 "to make it appear more like Infobox gridiron football person," the CFL box. Ironically, when Infobox NFL player was designed in 2007, it was because most of the key WP:NFL editors did not like the look of Infobox gridiron football person, and designed something entirely different. Funny how those kinds of things happen around here. Dirtlawyer1 (talk) 20:48, 5 February 2016 (UTC)
Thanks, Corky. Your sandbox line-up is exactly what I was looking for, so that I could refer other CFB and NFL editors to a side-by-side comparison for feedback. Could you add one more stripe for the present neon yellow color used for the HOF stripes on Infobox NFL player? Dirtlawyer1 (talk) 17:27, 8 February 2016 (UTC)
@Dirtlawyer1: Sorry, I forgot to respond to ya. I dealt with the other editor and forgot all about this. The current color (#FFBB00) is number 13. If you don't like the bold white font, then you can remove it. (IMO, it reads better.) 🇺🇸 Corkythehornetfan 🇺🇸 00:01, 9 February 2016 (UTC)
So, example no. 13 is the current color used by Infobox NFL player, correct? It doesn't look quite as obnoxious when the electric blue hyperlink text is omitted. Still, I think your old gold looks best with the white text, but we will see what others have to say. Thanks for setting this up, Corky. Dirtlawyer1 (talk) 00:20, 9 February 2016 (UTC)
@Dirtlawyer1: Yes, Example #13 is the current color listed in Infobox NFL player. I copied it directly from the template. 🇺🇸 Corkythehornetfan 🇺🇸 01:55, 9 February 2016 (UTC)

UT Arlington Athletics and TSU Campus

Hi Corkythehornetfan, I was saying that the picture with the Maverick is better. The "A" you have up now isn't the primary athletics logo, the athletics program normally uses the horse for promotion material etc. Is there a reason why you changed it? A picture that needs to be updated is the campus of Texas Southern University on their page and also the Houston, Texas page. When I tried to change it I was told that I couldn't do it because of copyright issues. The picture currently up on the pages isn't a fair representation of the campus and there's plenty of better pics online but I'm not savvy enough right now to get around that ridiculous rule b/c I've seen copyright pictures uploaded on other pages ... I've been blackballed by some users over ridiculous stuff.Broadmoor (talk) 18:26, 2 February 2016 (UTC)

@Broadmoor: I agree with you... the Maverick does look better but per WP:NFCC guidelines, it should only be used in the article for Athletics. Its child articles (e.g. UTA football) have to use the wordmark or an individual sport logo. The logo cannot be on the university articles, either. An example would be this discussion. Others are going around and filing files for discussion so to save the trouble, I'm just fixing the problem. BTW, I absolutely hate this guideline. ❄ Corkythehornetfan23:59, 2 February 2016 (UTC)
Oh ok, just was curious, Corkythehornetfan any advice on the TSU thing.Broadmoor (talk) 00:58, 3 February 2016 (UTC)
@Broadmoor: You can either take a picture yourself, or find one that you like and see if the author/copyright owner will send permission for use to OTRS. That's what I would do. There's also the option of contacting the TSU Office of Communications and see if they would be willing tor provide you an image that represents the campus well. Most schools will respond to you and help you out as needed. If they do respond, permission would still need to be sent to OTRS. Hope this helps! ❄ Corkythehornetfan01:35, 3 February 2016 (UTC)

The date of the new logo is irrelevant to which logo being placed on each Kentucky page. The new graphic standards identify the new logo as the logo for UK athletics. The logo the keeps being added back to each page was issued in 2005. If your plan to have the correct logo for each year then you would need to upload the proper logo for each season. That is unnecessary therefore the new logo prevails. Trocksuk4415 (talk) 15:16, 6 February 2016 (UTC)

@Trocksuk4415:No, the 2005 to 2015 logo should be in the 2005 thru 2015 articles. The new logo wasn't announced until December 2015 and therefore should not be used in any articles prior to the 2015–16 season. Also, please do NOT revert edits like this one since the file was renamed. I had it renamed for a reason, because it began in 2005. Thanks, ❄ Corkythehornetfan15:21, 6 February 2016 (UTC)

KState secondary

Hello. KState only color is not purple. Kstate official color guide mentions Kstate Gray, Kstate light gray and black (https://www.k-state.edu/logos/logos1.pdf). There s no discussing purple is the primary colour but field color2 is for a secondary color. Furthermore it is a mandatory field in the infobox and i think it should be filled. Kstate plays more than half their games in a uniform that is not purple furthermore.181.135.220.117 (talk) 21:27, 12 February 2016 (UTC)

@181.135.220.117: I'm well aware of what they wear and the brand guide... they're in my state. Football uses gray, as well. If you read this page, their school color (notice there is no "s") is Purple. It says required, but it really is not a mandatory field. If it were mandatory, there'd be an error in the template (which there isn't). Most, if not all, K-State articles only use the royal purple. I'd say if you like to change that, then start a discussion on the main university article's talk page. 🇺🇸 Corkythehornetfan 🇺🇸 21:43, 12 February 2016 (UTC)

Hey, Corky. I'm not sure who uploaded this originally, but this is not the Gators script logo. It's the word mark that the athletic association sometimes uses for uniforms and publications. The Gators script logo is this. The present file names are effectively reversed. I'm not sure how this happened. For clarity, the all-caps word mark should probably be titled "Florida Gators word mark," and the cursive/script Gators logo should probably be labeled "Gators script logo" -- since that's what everyone calls it. Dirtlawyer1 (talk) 18:38, 17 February 2016 (UTC)

@Dirtlawyer1: I moved File:Florida Gators Script Logo.png to Commons at 12:35 Central today (shortly before you left this message) and renamed it to File:Florida Gators wordmark.png. The local file will be delete soon and a bot will rename the file in the other articles. Michigan State Spartans edit

I appreciate the interest in the removal of the article, however, the removed parts were simply a season by season rundown of the team's performance and a mess. It was best left to the individual page to describe the breakdown. Lincolning (talk) 21:50, 19 February 2016 (UTC)

Mind taking a look?

Hiya Corky. You know your stuff about seals, logos and colors, whereas I don't, so I thought I'd ask you to take a look at a couple of things. First, the Grinnell College article is missing both a seal and a logo. When you have some free time, could you track them down and add them to the article? Second, the Williams College infobox says one of the school's colors is gold, but the color shown looks really yellow to me. Could you take a look at it and make sure everything is OK? Thanks very much. Contributor321 (talk) 05:00, 22 February 2016 (UTC)

@Contributor321: I've looked at it a little bit. I couldn't find a seal for Grinnell, but will keep looking. As for Williams College, PMS 109 is a goldish-yellowish. This page on the Athletics website says "gold or yellow". Although, they refer to their only color as purple, gold being secondary. The Conference website just says purple, NCAA.com says purple/gold. Most schools (i.e. Univ. of Northern Iowa, USC) say gold for PMS 109/116/123... with the exception of North Dakota State; they say yellow. I'll look further on Monday/Tuesday. 🇺🇸 Corkythehornetfan 🇺🇸 05:30, 22 February 2016 (UTC)
I found an image of the logo here https://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=https://nyu.databrary.org/party/1013/avatar%253Fsize%253D54&imgrefurl=https://nyu.databrary.org/party/0&h=300&w=281&tbnid=5Ciq7-ypxn5lEM:&docid=u07dnoroTBahLM&ei=vTnLVrjAFMvYjwO7q7aABA&tbm=isch&ved=0ahUKEwj4kqXO54vLAhVL7GMKHbuVDUAQMwgjKAcwBw - maybe this can be used in the article. As for the seal, I've seen 1 poor quality image of the seal itself, and several images of merchandise (coffee cups, etc.) bearing the seal. Maybe you'll have more success, but the seal is starting to look like a lost cause. Contributor321 (talk) 16:58, 22 February 2016 (UTC)
Yeah, I saw that seal too. I have the graphics manual so what we could do is split it if we can't find a seal. I can put the red thing on top and the wordmark below. I'll keep looking (bet you're right... it's gonna be a lost cause) and will do something by the end of the week. I've got 4 tests this week (each day but Wednesday) so it may be Friday afternoon before I do anything. 🇺🇸 Corkythehornetfan 🇺🇸 17:57, 22 February 2016 (UTC)
Thanks a lot for taking care of this! Good luck on your tests. Contributor321 (talk) 00:30, 23 February 2016 (UTC)
Thanks! I've gone ahead and cleaned up the Williams article, as well as the Grinnell article. Until you, someone else, or I find a seal for the college, it's probably just best to split it as I've done. I hate captions for logos, but if you think it should stay that's fine. 🇺🇸 Corkythehornetfan 🇺🇸
Thanks for hunting down the Grinnell seal and posting it. The article looks much better with it. Contributor321 (talk) 22:45, 25 February 2016 (UTC)

Recent changes to Mid-South Conference

Hi Corky! I have recently made some updates to the Mid-South Conference, and as you and John have previously done a lot of work, I thought I would defer to the two of you to possibly update it further. The conference has expanded from 13 to 20 members by adding the football members from The Sun Conference plus another school, and I have done some work, but don't know how some of those tables should be handled. I thought you might have a better idea of how to handle it than I do, Thanks! Jacona (talk) 14:33, 27 February 2016 (UTC)

Hi, JaconaFrere. I'll take a look later today and respond in more detail. Thanks, 🇺🇸 Corkythehornetfan 🇺🇸 10:06, 28 February 2016 (UTC)
Thanks, I know this is something you do well! Jacona (talk) 14:55, 28 February 2016 (UTC)
JaconaFrere, has The Sun completely removed football as a sport? 🍀 Corkythehornetfan 🍀 03:21, 2 March 2016 (UTC)
Yes, as every single football member is now participating in the mid-south conference for football. Jacona (talk) 10:01, 2 March 2016 (UTC)
JaconaFrere,10-4. This article states they won't merge until the 2017 season? In that case, I would suggest creating a "Future affiliate members" table under the "current members" and include the Sun Conference teams in the table. You can add a note at the bottom that states the two will merge in the 2017 season. If you want me to do that, I'll be glad to do that. If I do it, it'll be over the weekend. 🍀 Corkythehornetfan 🍀 15:08, 2 March 2016

Hello, I'm not sure why you are removing sourced information showing individuals that are indeed notable. Would you please explain why? Thank you. ExistentialySpeaking (talk) 03:32, 29 February 2016 (UTC)

@ExistentialySpeaking: They do not meet WP:ALMAMATER/LISTPEOPLE. As I explained in my edit summary, the standard for WP:WikiProject Universities is to only list a person who has a Wikipedia article. If you think these people are notable, then please write the article before you add them. The only exception is politicians. File:Hawaii news now.png

Thank you for cleaning File:Hawaii news now.png up. The file was being used in a number of articles, but I wasn't sure where it really belonged. I was going to discuss the various uses at FFD, but there seems to be no need to do that now. FWIW, I was going to add a nfur for Hawaii News Now, but checked www.hawaiinewsnow.com and they seem to be currently using a slightly different version of the logo, so wasn't sure.

Finally, one thing that might be worth discussing is whether the logo is simple enough for {{PD-logo}}. Any opinion on that? If it is, it could be moved to Commons and it would have to worry about NFCC. -- Marchjuly (talk) 21:42, 19 March 2016 (UTC)

@Marchjuly: I think that the logo used on their website is just a shorter version of the main logo... mainly for social media and their website. This video from 10 March 2016 shows the one we have now is still the logo. As for the license of the logo, personally I think it's a PD image because it's just letters and shapes. 🍀 Corkythehornetfan 🍀 23:13, 19 March 2016 (UTC)
Thanks for uploading a newer version of the logo. My only concerns about whether this is PD was the shadowing/gradiation of the coloring (sorry I don't know the exact term), but the newer version you uploaded takes care of that. I think it should be OK for {{Copy to Wikimedia Commons}} as is, but it might help to have a link to show this version is actually being used. Maybe add a {{Trademark}} as well. Anyway, thanks again for doing the heavy lifting and helping to sort this out. FWIW, if this is coverted to PD, it can be re-added to the articles you removed it from if you like. -- Marchjuly (talk) 22:18, 20 March 2016 (UTC)
Done I agree with on the shadow issue. Besides the fact that the file needed updated to a transparent version, the shadow/3-D look was another reason to update it. Thanks for all you do! 🍀 Corkythehornetfan 🍀 22:25, 20 March 2016 (UTC)

Re: [4]

It's not self-explanatory at all when the edit doesn't make any sense. Why are archive versions something to be avoided? The |deadurl=no prevents the archive version from being used when you click on the ref title. If the URL went dead, the archive version would be already available to readers (via the "Archived" link) with no change required by a Wikipedia editor. In any case, the title of the page you changed it to is not the title that was coded in the ref. They are supposed to match. ―Mandruss  21:48, 23 March 2016 (UTC)

Module colors

Hey, Corky -

I have no idea what that means or how it works - but - in the case of Michigan Wolverines football, the output is "Blue and Maize", which while technically accurate, lands heavily on the Wolverine fan's ear - like, I dunno, "Costello & Abbott". Can that order be inverted? JohnInDC (talk) 01:02, 25 March 2016 (UTC)

@JohnInDC: It can, but it will change how the navboxes look, as well. Maize will be the background of Navboxes (which I'm not a fan of), though... 🍀 Corkythehornetfan 🍀 01:08, 25 March 2016 (UTC)
Oh, don't do it then. But - it seems like kind of a design flaw, that the order in which the colors are listed is tied to the color scheme of the navbox, eh? I mean, I can think of a lot of places where this won't work! JohnInDC (talk) 01:36, 25 March 2016 (UTC)
I agree, but maybe it's something we'll work on in the near future. We just got this going a few days ago, so it's still a work in-progess! In my opinion, color order doesn't matter in the infobox... There should be a section for colors in the body of the article, as well as a sentence in the lead section. 🍀 Corkythehornetfan 🍀 01:42, 25 March 2016 (UTC)
Also, JohnInDC, you are more than welcome to join the conversation and discuss it with the "Go-to Gal"! 🍀 Corkythehornetfan 🍀 02:23, 25 March 2016 (UTC)

Request for Module:College color & Wisconsin Badgers

Hi Corky, I was wondering if you can remove black as the 3rd badgers color on Module:College color? The Badgers colors are Cardinal and White. Just asking because I've noticed all the Badgers templates/infoboxes now have Cardinal fill, White font and Black borders and it's not right. It should just be Cardinal fill/White font. I'm not sure why this suddenly changed. It changed sometime within the past couple days. I'm not sure who did it necessarily but I know you work on that module quite a bit so I thought I would ask. Thank you kindly, Cheers, —  dainomite   05:43, 25 March 2016 (UTC)

@Dainomite: I put it there for border purposes, as all teams will have a border in the navbox when finished. It doesn't display in the Infobox, since it's only used for branding, but I believe borders should be in the navboxes. As for Michigan football, please see above. I'll work on it, but for right now, it's fine the way it is. 🍀 Corkythehornetfan 🍀 06:02, 25 March 2016 (UTC)

College colors

Hello, Corkythehornetfan (talk), I'm sorry, but Kansas State has 2 main colors: Purple and white. Also, the only main color difference in Maryland's colors is the red color. I'm only going to change Maryland's colors, because the main article has a white color listed in the infobox twice (I'm only fixing the errors there). All I tried to do with these edits {seen here and here)} was to make it easier to read. Also, these are the references from NCAA.com for Kansas State's and Maryland's colors: Kansas State Maryland I guess I will concede Syracuse's colors, since NCAA.com only lists Orange: Syracuse (from NCAA.com) Charlesaaronthompson (talk) 03:43, 27 March 2016 (UTC)

Per this source, Although K-State’s only official color is purple, white has been used as a complimentary color for many years. White is a complimentary color, but purple is the ONLY color. Their media guides say white, but last time I checked, and even their fans just say purple as their only color. since I live and am from KS, I have many friends who have gone to K-State, or are fans. I'll go ahead and self-revert K-State. As I said before, we can't/shouldn't go off of just the brand guides except to get the hex codes. Schools use all sorts of colors in their palettes, so we need to refer to the athletic media guides, website, and ncaa.com. We need to look beyond that, obviously something you can't wrap your head around. I even listed that url for Syracuse on your talk page, but obviously you couldn't see that, either. So if I'm frustrating, I'm sorry, but you are too. 🍀 Corkythehornetfan 🍀 03:58, 27 March 2016 (UTC)
OK. I didn't change the HTML values for Maryland; I only changed the color order and filled in a bracket in order for the colors/references to show up in the infobox of the main Maryland Terrapins article (as seen in this diff). I hope that what I just did doesn't get me blocked from editing. I see your point that schools use all sorts of colors. Here's my proposal: what if we only use the most frequently mentioned color names/values that are sourced from NCAA.com or a school's athletic media guides/website (not necessarily the branding websites)? For example, for Syracuse, the only color that should be listed is Orange (because that's the only color listed on NCAA.com). How else do you suggest we proceed as far as colors for NCAA schools be entered at Module:College color/data? Charlesaaronthompson (talk) 04:09, 27 March 2016 (UTC)
It won't get you blocked because you fixed an error -- you didn't revert anything. The way we should proceed is exactly how I've been doing it: your proposal. We need to look at the athletics website/media guides, then NCAA.com. The school media guides/website will be more updated then NCAA.com. We only need the brand guide for hex codes and the source; nothing else, including NCAA.com. Order of the colors do not matter, especially for contrast reasons, but I will work on getting an order for certain teams (Michigan Wolverines football; Notre Dame) since fans are getting upset about the order. Any other ideas? 🍀 Corkythehornetfan 🍀 04:33, 27 March 2016 (UTC
I don't have any other ideas. I'll agree that the way you've been doing it is how we should proceed (look at the athletics' website/media guides, and then NCAA.com). I'm sorry for causing you so much frustration. I only wanted accurate colors. I'm on board now with how you're doing it. Charlesaaronthompson (talk) 04:41, 27 March 2016 (UTC)
I apologize, as well. I want the same thing you and everyone else want on this. I'll try and be better to discuss it before reverting. Although, I'll just probably forget. 🍀 Corkythehornetfan 🍀 05:03, 27 March 2016 (UTC)

@Jrcla2: thanks! I'll look for the discussion when I get to my computer. Basically, one or two of the discussions said that four should be the minimum with a guideline linked with it... DL was the one who said that, I believe. ☔️ Corkythehornetfan 🌺 20:26, 4 April 2016 (UTC)
@Jrcla2: This discussion is what I'm going off of (see bottom comment by DL). This guideline states Some people seem to believe that there should be a a navbox on every page, but not everything truly needs a navbox. Even the most clueless new user can find his or her way from the first article to the next in line if there are only two, three or even four. So I believe four should be the bare minimum in a navbox, not including the parent article. ☔️ Corkythehornetfan 🌺 23:42, 4 April 2016 (UTC)
That's fine with me, I just didn't know where the number came from. I do think trying to get some notable stubs created is the better route than TfD'ing anything to start. Jrcla2 (talk) 20:19, 5 April 2016 (UTC)
Yeah, I agree. I would rather see the navboxes stay than go! ☔️ Corkythehornetfan 🌺 20:45, 7 April 2016 (UTC)

College Colors: UC Santa Barbara Gauchos

I noticed you've done huge work regarding College Colors and the corresponding module(s). I have some information regarding UC Santa Barbara, which I've received directly from their marketing team, so want to ensure the information is correct. Regarding colors, they've listed out 5 different ones, but the main ones I believe are (Gaucho) Gold and (Gaucho) Light Blue which have different Pantone values than the school's Graphic Identity Website. How can I ensure that the UCSB athletics department colors are represented correctly? GauchoDude (talk) 14:48, 13 April 2016 (UTC)

@GauchoDude: In order for the color codes to be changed – assuming that they are different than the academic colors – you would need to provided a reliable source (preferably a brand guide of some sort, much like the graphic identity source above). Unfortunately, an email won't do it because we have no way of accessing that email to validate it. If no source can be given, we'll have to just use the colors currently listed. Do you have the possible hex, rgb, and pms numbers that you can provide here? ☔️ Corkythehornetfan 🌺 17:17, 13 April 2016 (UTC)
@Corkythehornetfan: Understand the importance of the reliable source and more than happy to forward on the email I got directly from the UCSB Athletics Department for verification if you shoot me your email address. The ones listed on the Athletic Department style guide are Gaucho Gold (Pantone 130 C; Process C-0/M-30/Y-100/K-0) and Gaucho Light Blue (Pantone 286 C; Process C-100/M-66/Y-0/K-2). They also have three other colors listed but from my understanding, those are the two considered "primary". These colors confirm the information in the UC Santa Barbara Gauchos section "Overview of UCSB Athletics" that I added in 2009 when the change was announced (even though one of the original color names was Pacific Blue and not Gaucho Light Blue). The actual announcement has been lost to link rot, but the Style Guide I've received would confirm that info. Thoughts/next steps? GauchoDude (talk) 18:44, 13 April 2016 (UTC)
There is no need to ping me since this is my talk page! I've sent you an email with my address in it [NOTE: That is not my real name, but rather a made up name for Wikipedia]. As for the names, we will use what is in the Media Guides as that is the most common info that gets out there. In this case, it's just "Blue and Gold". I'll think of something once I see the email. ☔️ Corkythehornetfan 🌺 21:59, 13 April 2016 (UTC)

Requesting some help and question

Hello, firstly thank you for adjusting the University at Buffalo seal and making the size a lot better. I was wondering if you could change the logo listed for the University at Buffalo to the updated master brand primary lockup one here : https://www.buffalo.edu/brand/identity/UB-visual-identity-system.html . I tried downloading it using the file provided here https://www.buffalo.edu/brand/identity/UB-visual-identity-system/master-brand.html but have no idea how to open any of those files, or how to make it a transparent background.

Also I was wondering where to find what the Buffalo Bulls athletic color names are. I see you changed it from UB Blue to Royal Blue but can't find where on the athletic website it states that. Only thing that comes up is this https://www.buffalo.edu/brand/visual-presentation/color/color-palette.html Thanks once again. AlaskanNativeRU (talk) 04:11, 15 April 2016 (UTC)

@AlaskanNativeRU: I've updated the logo. If you want to try it in the future, let me know and I can tell you how to... it's pretty simple!
As for the names, I use the media guides (women's soccer, football, softball, etc.) to determine the color names. Since the module is mainly for Athletic articles, the media guides (or quick facts) on the Athletics website are the best sources to go by. "UB Blue" is for branding purposes only. Another source you can check is ncaa.com, which will list the same name as the media guides do. Hope this helps! ☔️ Corkythehornetfan 🌺 20:08, 15 April 2016 (UTC)
Thank you so much! I would love to learn how to do that, I'd like to go around to the various department pages and update/take out the white backgrounds. Like in here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/University_at_Buffalo_School_of_Medicine_and_Biomedical_Sciences . Also how did you manage to open up any of the files from the UB download link I posted, as in which program is needed.AlaskanNativeRU (talk) 19:50, 16 April 2016 (UTC)
@AlaskanNativeRU: I use a website (www.fotoflexer.com) to make the images transparent and/or update the colors. It's pretty easy to operate... you click the paint can (√ the "transparent" box) and click the spaces you need to be transparent (un-click it if you want to update a color). It may not be clean, clean like other programs could do (mainly those that cost!), but it gets the job done! I've used this website for a couple of years on hundreds of files. As for the UB files, since my MacBook Pro doesn't open .EPS files, it opens it as a PDF which then I can convert it to a PNG file. Do you have Apple or Windows? If you have Apple, I can help you convert without using a website, but if you have Windows, you can use image.online-convert.com to convert the files (just click what type you want to convert it to). I don't know much about Windows. Hope this helps! ☔️ Corkythehornetfan 🌺 17:03, 17 April 2016 (UTC)

NJIT edits

Hello Corkythehornetfan, I watch the NJIT wiki entry pretty closely and notice that you deleted several items from the infobox including the free label "newspaper" and the label "sports". I also noticed that you replaced United States with U.S. In adding content to NJIT's infobox I make it a habit to check what other polytechnic schools do. For example, MIT uses both the Sports label and the newspaper free label. It also uses United States in place of US. Also, their web address, as displayed, doesn't use the www prefix. (neither does Cal Tech) To give more examples, Case Western, WPI and RIT use the sports label (19, 20 and 24 varsity teams respectively, while UMass Amherst uses the newspaper label. I could go on but I think you get the point. If you are applying some wiki standard that I am not aware of then please let me know what it is. If such a standard exist, I assume it's your intention to apply it generally, and to do so sooner rather than later. Wrrsimone (talk) 23:37, 17 April 2016 (UTC)

@Wrrsimone: I removed the "sports" label because it isn't needed for the university infobox. If the readers want to know how many sports teams the university offers, they can either go to the athletics section the athletics article. As for the newspaper, it is already in the see also section so I don't see why it needs to be in the infobox. United States was changed to U.S. to make it all on one line... I've been changing them to U.S. in most, if not all, university articles I've come across. (FYI: I have a majority of the university/college articles in my watchlist). I am a human, who does forget to remove things when moving from article to article, but for the most part I remember. If I don't remove it when I edit the article the first time, most likely I'll remove it the next time I edit the article. I don't have MIT on my watchlist, so I just haven't gotten there yet. Don't assume I'm targeting NJIT or anything like that, because I'm not. I update the articles as I come across them, as I have other things on my to-do list. Also, when you leave a message on my talk page, please create a new section. Next time I'll close it and will not reply. ☔️ Corkythehornetfan 🌺 23:11, 18 April 2016 (UTC)
hello again, Corkythehornetfan. I appreciate your prompt response. In reading it I notice that you do not cite any wiki standard you are applying. In fact, what you mostly express is your opinion on what should and should not be included in an info box. I may be wrong but I have the impression that almost every item in an info box is mentioned again somewhere in the body of most articles of any length. Moreover, is redundancy necessarily a bad thing, especially when many readers don't always read an article top to bottom? Lastly, as an experiment, I suggest that you make it a priority to apply your standards to MIT's article and see if you get a reaction. That way we can both get a better sense of how widely your standards find acceptance. Wrrsimone (talk) 18:30, 19 April 2016 (UTC)
@Wrrsimone: The only person who has a problem with these edits are you. I've been doing these sort of edits for the last couple of years, and you are the only person to disagree with me about this. There is no wiki standard to cite, but many of the WikiProject Universities members (who are way more experienced than I am) haven't challenged/disagreed with me me yet. If you're really concerned about it, then take it to Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Universities and get a group to respond to you. As I said above, I will get to the MIT article when I get to it. Right now I have other things higher on my to-do list. I said it before, and I'll say it again: I am not targeting NJIT. I have other things to worry about... You may not be saying this directly, but that is what I'm getting from you. ☔️ Corkythehornetfan 🌺 19:40, 19 April 2016 (UTC)

I'd support taking it out; it's fancruft at its worst and the only reason I haven't removed it is to avoid a LAME edit war. Nate (chatter) 00:47, 19 April 2016 (UTC)

UCLA color redux

I hope you know I really don't get into this color stuff too much, my alma mater being the lone exception. I made a change at the color table here with a winded edit summary. If it wasn't clear, I want to head off any misunderstandings. You might not remember (and it took me a while to find it), but there was an extended discussion at Talk:University_of_California,_Los_Angeles#Colors_for_UCLA. In short (change from Adidas to likely Under Armour notwithstanding) UCLA has different academic from athletic colors (unless that's changed). To my knowledge, it still is True Blue, some branded Adidas color.

Unfortunately, all that is ever written in any guide is that it is Pantone 285. Honestly, I don't care what the hex code is, and I still don't know what is an authoritative tool for covering that. All I know is that the color prior to my change was way off, which you probably inadvertently changed when cleaning up the mess in the whole color table. I changed it to whatever was at the True Blue article, which anyways seems to have been changed by Charles without discussion from what I wrote at Talk:True Blue (color)#Encoding for Pantone 285. Whatever. As long as the visual color remotely resembles the athletic logo, I don't care. Sorry, if it sounds like I'm venting at you, I'm not. I just don't want to have to change UCLA colors again :-) Cheers.—Bagumba (talk) 05:26, 30 April 2016 (UTC)

@Bagumba: Yes, sorry, there is a very good chance I forgot about it. Thanks for the reminder and fixing it! ☔️ Corkythehornetfan ☔️ 18:45, 30 April 2016 (UTC)

Florida State University School

I think the usage of the FSU seal on the Florida State University School article satisfies the fair use claim. I originally removed it, but when I checked their own website, they also use the FSU seal instead of their own individual seal. --JonRidinger (talk) 00:06, 3 May 2016 (UTC)

@JonRidinger: From my understanding, it violates WP:NFCC#UUI §17 because t's a sub-article of FSU. The university uses the seal with a wordmark for all schools/colleges, but if a logo is to be used in sub-articles, only the wordmark can be used for the school. Perhaps Marchjuly can comment... 🎓 Corkythehornetfan 🎓 00:14, 3 May 2016 (UTC)
Yeah, when I edited it earlier today, that's what I was going to cite in removing it, but I noticed the school itself doesn't have a specific logo/seal (which surprised me). I just assumed if the entity doesn't have a specific logo/seal, that usage is justified. Their Twitter page also uses the FSU seal. --JonRidinger (talk) 00:24, 3 May 2016 (UTC)
Their Facebook page uses both the seal and wordmark, just like the website and other colleges/schools. I think that if we can't do it for other sub-articles, we shouldn't do it for this article. 🎓 Corkythehornetfan 🎓 00:43, 3 May 2016 (UTC)
I was pinged so I guess it's OK for me to add my two cents. My understanding is that such seals are fine for the main article about the university because there is some expectation (perhaps a little too much expectation in some cases) that the seal itself is discussed (or has the potential to be discussed) somewhere in the article. This means the seal is not being used purely for identification (i.e., decorative purposes), but also for contextual reasons. This seems to be the basic premise for allowing the usage of non-free logos, etc. in main infoboxes. It is assumed that the context/sourcing needed for non-free use will be provided somewhere within the article. The same expectation is not really there for articles about child entities. It may be possible to include such information, but whether it is appropriate for the article could be deemed a content matter. A logo, etc. specific to the child entity, however, it more likely to be discussed (and seem more apporpriate) in the child entity's article than the parent entity's article. Just for reference, previous NFCR/FFD discussions have pretty much said that the fact the no specific logo, etc. exists for the child entity does not necessarily mean it's OK to use the parent's logo; certain cases may have extenuating circumstances which allow non-free usage, but it's not considered automatic for each case. What happens out in the real world is not always (unfortunate in some cases perhaps) reflected on Wikipedia. At the same time, non-free does not automatically mean only in one article, but WP:NFCCP has to be satisfied for each usage. My personal opinion is probably "not OK" in this case, but the file does have a non-free use rationale for the usage. Simply removing it could lead to claims of edit warring/3RR by someone who feels the usage is justified (see WP:NOT3RR). Perhaps the best thing to do would be to discuss this particular usage at FFD or tag it with {{di-disputed fair use rationale}} and let an admin decide. Just a suggestion. -- Marchjuly (talk) 01:24, 3 May 2016 (UTC)
Thanks! I personally don't have a vested interested in the outcome either way, but some other editors who are connected to the school may. I added the rationale as a courtesy after I noticed the seal had been added to the article but lacked the rationale, and, as I previously mentioned, after I noticed that the seal is consistently used in connection with this school too via their website and social media platforms. Of course the easiest answer would be for the school to make its own seal... But yeah, if I hadn't seen it used on their own stuff, I probably would've just removed it right there. --JonRidinger (talk) 20:54, 3 May 2016 (UTC)

Possible AfD

Hi, I have an article which may possibly warrant deletion, but am not quite sure whether it fits the bill just yet and was hoping you could tell me whether it could be listed as AfD or it is technically OK. The article in question is List of Australian Survivor episodes. I tagged the page as unreferenced because it doesn't have a single reference on it. A user attempted to remove it saying "Citing not required. Only thing cited in the American equivalent of this article is the ratting information which we don't have data on for Au Survivor." The 'American equivalent', which I assume is List of Survivor (U.S. TV series) episodes, has solid references for recent seasons, and for most of the older seasons has an external link to a 'CBS recap'. They also link to the individual season articles, which the Australian version does as well, however neither Australian Survivor (season 1) or Celebrity Survivor is well referenced either, particularily in relation to dates and episode titles. Wondering whether the article can stand with the 'references needed' tag, or if it should be removed per verifiability issues and even on notability, with episodes listed on season pages, and unlike the American version of the program, there have only been two (a third due this year). Thanks, -- Whats new?(talk) 05:53, 6 May 2016 (UTC)

@Whats new?: Sorry for the late reply. I would go ahead and nominate it for deletion. The season articles are already listed in the Australian Survivor#Seasons article (individual episodes redirect to the season articles). I question its notability. If you nominate it, it's likely someone could/will add sources and expand it if they don't want it deleted. 🎓 Corkythehornetfan 🎓 17:01, 8 May 2016 (UTC)
Thanks for the response. I've nominated the article. -- Whats new?(talk) 23:28, 8 May 2016 (UTC)

University of Michigan-Dearborn

Hi there! I notice you are pretty prolific when it comes to uploading seals that meet fair use requirements, including the one in use for my alma mater in Ann Arbor! I have an extremely humble request, if it isn't too much trouble: our branch campus in Dearborn has never been able to consistently keep an accurate seal on it's page. In the past we have used a blown up version of what appeared to be a pennant and a metal rendering hanging from a building. Currently, we are using a miscolored rendering taken from a since deleted web page. As the seal is just a variation of one you've made for the Ann Arbor page (replacing 1817 with "Dearborn"), I was wondering if you might be able to alter it slightly so that UM-D can finally present an accurate face on Wikipedia? Thanks for all the awesome work you do! -- MichiganCharms (talk) 01:40, 10 May 2016 (UTC)

@MichiganCharms:  Done here. I've contacted the university to see if they will provide a university seal for us. 🎓 Corkythehornetfan 🎓 00:17, 11 May 2016 (UTC)

R3 listing

Why do you accuse ME of edit 'warring' when it is Alliosn Folley who keeps removing the R3 classification info on the ltu page?

--She is affiliated with the university, and is extremely biased in her edits......this is in direct conflict with wikipedia guidelines.

--The classification of R2 was on the page for years, but when it as re-classified to R3 she decided it should not be included. Why is the classification information suddenly not important?

--Does she 'own' the page.....and no one else is allowed to edit it?

--I have reached out to her several times.....always polite and respectful.....to determine why she keeps undoing my valid edit. She refuses to discuss it.

Please explain this all to me, as it is very perplexing to me. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Pncomeaux (talkcontribs) 15:24, 14 June 2016 (UTC)

@Pncomeaux: Between the you, her, and the IPs, y'all are edit-warring, no matter what the difference is. She was bold and reverted, so the next step is to discuss it and don't revert until an agreement is made. Just a side note from this edit, she's been here way longer than you and doesn't violate WP:COI, unlike you with Louisiana–Lafayette. There is a difference between an alumna and a current employee of an institution. She's not paid by them, therefore she doesn't violate Wikipedia's guidelines as a conflict of interest. Quit reverting until there is a consensus or I'll report this to an administrator. Corkythehornetfan 🎓 16:17, 14 June 2016 (UTC)

1. Yes, she is clearly in violation of WP:COI: she is closely signed to ltu and is extremly biased towards it....the way she is reverting this edit and refusing to even discuss the issue with me proves this in spades. 2. As I stated earlier, the classification info is legit, it was included for years when it was R2, and it was her that edited it out when the classification was changed to R3. There is zero reason for her doing that, and to continuing to do so. 3. As I stated earlier, I have reached out to her on several occasions, always politely and respectfully, yet she absolutely refuses to respond. All she does is undo the edit to remove the classification info.

Yet you tell me....and only me.....to stop reverting. Mark my word: she will ignore your warnings and my posts on her talk pages to didpscuss.....but will eventually revert the edit again. And when she does she will get a free pass from you. This is not acceptable behavior. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Pncomeaux (talkcontribs) 16:38, 14 June 2016 (UTC)

@Pncomeaux: Your comment "The classification of R2 was on the page for years...", is inaccurate. It wasn't until February 7, 2016 that I.P. 74.80.63.186 added that it had been reclassified. Before, it read and a Carnegie Research University with high research activity (RU/H). I said I will report this to an administrator. I didn't say just you, I said this... meaning the whole situation. I'm pretty sure she saw my revert. You are also right, this is not acceptable behavior. I will revert to the edit that was on February 7, until reach a consensus. If you choose to revert, be warned I will be taking all of this to an administrator. I repeat again, she doesn't violate WP:COI, maybe something you need to read to fully understand it? Corkythehornetfan 16:45, 14 June 2016 (UTC)

1. The information that it was a university 'with high research activity' was always included.....prior to it being reclassified as a university with 'moderate research activity,'. The fact that she refuses to list the information now that it has been reclassified clearly points to fact that she is biased to the school. Which is violatin of the WP:COI....of which I fully understand.

2. If I misunderstood who you were reporting, I sincerly apologize.

3. Again, I have reached out to her on several occasions, and she refuses to respond....but she reverts the edits nonetheless. Further proof of her bias.

4. I am again reaching out to her.....and again in a professional and polite manner....to see why she feels the classification information should no longer be included. Hopefully she will now respond.

It was included, yes, but the ranking was not. The ranking isn't that important... as long as the "...high research..." is listed, the ranking shouldn't really matter... and it certainly isn't something worth getting in a war about. She wouldn't be blocked because she isn't really a conflict of interest. Is an alumna? Yes. Could she be a little biased towards La. Tech? Yes. Would it be helpful if she responded? Yes. Is she required to respond? No. Could there be another reason as to why she doesn't want it there? Yes. There are much bigger problems that need attention than whether or not a ranking should be included or not. Corkythehornetfan 17:16, 14 June 2016 (UTC)

A 'little biased?????' Per her linkedin page, she is not only an ltu alumni, but also a 'web designer.' The only thing that is unknown is whether she is being paid for her services by ltu to maintain their page.....because it is very clear that she is devoting a huge amount of time/effort on their behalf.. And only their behalf. How is that not a huge bias? How is that not in direct conflict with WP:CO?

"All editors are required to comply with Wikipedia's neutral point of view content policy. People who are very close to a subject often have a distorted view of it, which may cause them to inadvertently edit in ways that make the article either too flattering or too disparaging. People with a close connection to a subject are not absolutely prohibited from editing about that subject, but they need to be especially careful about ensuring their edits are verified by reliable sources and writing with as little bias as possible.

Why would the specific classification of R3 NOT be included? What is that so offensive to her about that that she refuses to allow it?

I truly do not understand why she is being given such a free pass, despite all the evidence pointing to the fact that is extremely biased towards the school. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Pncomeaux (talkcontribs) 17:48, 14 June 2016 (UTC)

If you're that concerned, take it to an administrator. Something as simple as including or excluding a ranking from an article isn't worth getting your panties all tied in a wad. I certainly do not have time for this. Corkythehornetfan 18:18, 14 June 2016 (UTC)

Again........I present facts about her bias in this and all you do is make personal attacks on me, and take up for her. I don't wear panties, and none of my undergarments are in a knot over this.....or anything else.

She is the one who has her panties in such a wad about this.

She is the one who refuses to allow factual, unbiased info on the school to be posted on their webpage.

She is the one has refused several opportunities to engage in a simple dialogue to explain her actions.

She is the one who has a proven bias towards the school.

Yet I am the one you dismiss and make personal attacks on. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Pncomeaux (talkcontribs) 19:13, 14 June 2016 (UTC)

No personal attacks. The only thing I've threatened to do is take all of this (you, her, and anyone else) to an admin. I'm not siding with her, I've stated my own opinion. Something as silly as a ranking should not be worth getting in an edit war with. I've had little to-do with her since I've been a user (2012). Sorry you feel this way. Corkythehornetfan 20:06, 14 June 2016 (UTC)

Yes....telling me not to 'get your panties into a wad' is a personal attack and offensive. Sorry you are unable to accept that. Odd that you refuse to address her obvious bias in this matter.....or why she is so very adamant that the R3 classification not be included in her write-up. Or why she refuses to discuss it with me. In the end, including the classification is factual, and informative and in no way biased. The current version is also properly footnoted and supported. There Is absolutely no reason for her to modify it. Hopefully she cease with her biased actions. We shall see. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Pncomeaux (talkcontribs) 21:04, 14 June 2016 (UTC)

University of Louisiana [at] Monroe

Dear Corkythehornetfan,

My name is Brice Jones, and I am the Assistant Director of Media Relations at the University of Louisiana Monroe (ULM). It is my office's responsibility to coordinate all branding efforts for the university. We have recently attempted to change several things on ULM's Wikipedia page, including photos and verbiage that comply with our most recently published Identity Standards manual (see: http://ulm.edu/opi/). You have reverted our edits every time and this has impeded our progress in this regard. If you have questions about the new content, please contact our office directly (318-342-5445; opi@ulm.edu). Otherwise, we would be grateful if you could please not revert our changes, as they are being made as part of an effort from within our office on campus. Thank you. --Bjones06 (talk) 21:48, 20 June 2016 (UTC)

@Bjones06: The school's recent rebranding is not the WP:COMMONNAME, which is what we go by here at Wikipedia. I've seen the updated identity standards. When you updated the article in November 2015, the new identity standards was not available yet, therefore you had no proof other than "I work at the university". Please discuss on the talk page, request a move and get a consensus for the move. The move will help with other articles, templates, categories, etc. that you've changed within the process. Aside from all of this, you'll need to read WP:COI, as you have a conflict of interest with all ULM articles. Corkythehornetfan 01:55, 21 June 2016 (UTC)

UCD Seal

Hi! I was trying to upload this seal for the University of California, Davis page, but it's huge and I'm not sure how to scale it down. Since you upload a lot of college seals, do you think you could upload this one for me? Thanks, Eden5 (talk) 21:33, 21 June 2016 (UTC)

@Eden5: I've updated the colors of the seal. The font isn't the same, but IMO it's good enough. If you want the font used in the link you've provided, I'll see if a friend can help me out with it... as I'm not to good at editing svg images. If you'd like to learn, its pretty easy. I use pixlr.com or fotoflexer.com. If you have a MacBook, you can reduce the size in "Preview" by clicking the "Tools" up top, and then click "Adjust size". Not sure what it is on Windows. Corkythehornetfan 22:24, 21 June 2016 (UTC)
I think it looks good. Thanks again. Eden5 (talk) 23:13, 21 June 2016 (UTC)

Texas A&M International

Hi,

I was hoping you could return to me my edits on the Texas A&M International University site that were deleted today. I tried to locate the listing that your message indicated existed, but was unable to find any editors names or contacts included to approach about retrieving the deleted materials. (Granted this is the first time I've tried anything at this level).

I understand the concern with Conflict of Interest and appreciate your position. I was merely trying to update dated material that is no longer accurate or current. Indeed, I do work for the University, but my intent was not malicious, and was only focused on providing current, accurate information for a page that has been long neglected.

I appreciate the insight you have provided and will review to see if there are any other options available to us to help make sure the entry is at least current. You've clearly edited similar pages for other institutions of higher education...do you have any suggestions on this matter?

thanks for any help you are able to provide.

Steve k. harmon (talk) 22:26, 21 June 2016 (UTC)

@Steve k. harmon: Sorry, I was going to leave another short note, but got sidetracked! I realize your intent wasn't malicious. Per WP:Conflict of interest, you are strongly discouraged from editing the article directly and you will need to display a template {{paid}} on your user page that you are being paid to update the article due to your position at Texas A&M International University. You should also list the things on the article's talk page of the things you would like to update. Little things like updating the enrollment numbers (with references), updated info about alumni, etc. (the non-controversial stuff), should be fine. Here are some of the issues with your edits:
  • In this edit, you added content directly from the history website for the university. This is a copyright problem. If you would like to use that content, given your position at the university, you would need to send permission to permissions@wikimedia.org. (See WP:PAIDCOPYRIGHT for more information.)
    • Also per the edit above, you added external links to the body paragraph. External links should not be used except in the external links section at the bottom. I would suggest turning the external links that you inserted for the colleges into references using <ref>...</ref> after the sentence. (punctuation goes before the reference. See WP:Citing sources for more).
    • Another thing wrong with the edit above was your capitalization in section headers. Per MOS:HEADINGS, the first word in the header should be capitalized with the rest being lowercase (e.g. Notable alumni). The only exception are proper nouns.
  • This edit is an external link problem as well.
  • For this edit, I would recommend removing the asterisk before the name of the college, as well as the bolding, and place "===" on each side of the name. This would lead to this edit not being needed.
A major problem that we have with COI's are that they aren't really neutral when editing and makes the articles read like an advertisement (this is why the talk page comes in handy so other editors who have no-affiliation with the university can comment). Hope this helps. Feel free to contact me for further help! Corkythehornetfan 23:49, 21 June 2016 (UTC)

User:Corkythehornetfan Thanks so much for your guidance. This is tremendously helpful and I'll follow your suggestions to the letter. I really appreciate your taking the time to correspond and provide such prompt and helpful guidance. Steve k. harmon (talk) 15:16, 22 June 2016 (UTC)

Hey Corky, thought you might want to know about this [5]. P.S. If the guy above or anybody else since it is COI-day is reading this using the "New section" editing tab will help keep your comments clean.UCO2009bluejay (talk) 22:39, 21 June 2016 (UTC)

@UCO2009bluejay: Thanks... I'll add it to my long to-do list (and making sure I abbreviate Nebraska right... I figured out why I did NB and not NE – my job uses NB)! Right now I'm working on the university leaders and then I'll probably get back to making the season articles for the teams! After that... well probably back to the basketball articles! Also, you should think about being a maid... you're pretty good at it! Corkythehornetfan 23:10, 21 June 2016 (UTC)
Do y'all do business in Canada?[6] For some reason I want to help but I keep getting drawn elsewhere. (Tulsa, Big Sky etc.)UCO2009bluejay (talk) 23:49, 21 June 2016 (UTC)
Lol... no, but the system we use is a one used all across the U.S. by 1000s of agencies! Don't worry about the help... it gives me something to do! Would you still like me to leave the UCO stuff to you (A.D., basketball articles, etc.)? Corkythehornetfan 00:33, 22 June 2016 (UTC)
I'll do the men's basketball and wrestling articles soon enough. I've had drafts after drafts of these because I want to make it right immediately. I don't know if our A.D. or the rest of the sports teams (maybe softball 1 NC, a matter of fact my first edit was to fix an error on that) pass notability though. So I may be willing to help but I am left wondering if I will spend significant amounts of time on something that will eventually be deleted. If anything I will follow a method that DL harped on a lot. Build out the program article before you fork.UCO2009bluejay (talk) 02:53, 22 June 2016 (UTC)

PatsyClineEstate

I understand your concern with the username, but I was hoping they would engage on their talk page regarding the edits being reverted as a segue to mentioning a possible problem with the account name. Placing another warning on their talk page is probably going to make them (more) defensive. Further, the name isn't a "bigger issue" than removing valid references and content from an article (whether it be with or without explanation). Because they are a brand new user, I really wish you hadn't approached the situation in the bitey manner you did, but, it's too late now. -- WV 20:20, 30 June 2016 (UTC)

Hi there, can you please review the article DZXL further? MSJapan redirected it to parent article without any consensus yet. Hamham31Heke!KushKush! 23:27, 16 July 2016 (UTC)

@Hamham31: personally, I think a majority of the filipino radio station articles should be deleted or redirected because a majority of them are unsourced, or lack the references that are needed. Corkythehornetfan 01:36, 17 July 2016 (UTC)

NFL Communications

Do you have access to the logoslicks on NFLCommunications.com? If so, how would I go about gaining access? I'm trying to update team colors at Template:NFLPrimaryColor & related templates. Charlesaaronthompson (talk) 02:04, 19 July 2016 (UTC)

@Charlesaaronthompson: Just register. I was granted access today (Monday). I filled out the information using the Wikipedia information (example: Address for the Wikimedia Foundation, job title as Editor, etc.). If you'd like to see an example of my form, let me know and I'll list it out here.
You'll receive an email after hitting "submit" that says your request is under review. I did this about 2000 hours on Sunday, and was granted access by 1200 hours (CT) Monday. If granted access, at the top there will be a heading that says "Publications & Logos". Hover over that, click Logos, and you'll have to download each team's logo in order to access the logo slick in the files. I did check all 32 teams, and all were matching with the ones posted in the articles except the two I changed (Washington and Philadelphia). Hope that helps. Corkythehornetfan 02:22, 19 July 2016 (UTC)
Yes, I would like to see an example of your form. I don't know what to fill in for each of the fields, so it would help to know how to fill it out. Please send me an email? Charlesaaronthompson (talk) 02:30, 19 July 2016 (UTC)
@Charlesaaronthompson:  Done Also, there is no need to ping me on my own talk page. I see the message anyways. Corkythehornetfan 02:40, 19 July 2016 (UTC)
I don't think Wikipedia allows sources that you must register to use, but I could be wrong. Is there no other source that states this? EDIT: Could you check and see what it says for the Jaguars? Charlesaaronthompson changed it from black to teal a month or so ago, but I don't believe that should be correct. ~ Dissident93 (talk) 05:27, 20 July 2016 (UTC)
@Dissident93: I have now reverted back the HTML color codes for the Jacksonville Jaguars so that  black  is now the dominant color. Also, the Redskins' and Eagles' colors are correct as they are now. Charlesaaronthompson (talk) 18:11, 20 July 2016 (UTC)
@Dissident93: See WP:PAYWALL for more info... Corkythehornetfan 19:01, 20 July 2016 (UTC)
If there is no other source yes, but this should always be the last option, as you normally want references to be easily verified by the general public. ~ Dissident93 (talk) 22:05, 20 July 2016 (UTC)

Hey, just FYI you may want to use the CFB links when you add schedule tables, that way where -->[[Tulsa Golden Hurricane football|Tulsa]] won't update the link, {{cfb link|year=1927|team=Tulsa Golden Hurricane|title=Tulsa}} will get a bot to automatically update it for you like this edit. It saves a lot of work for me to manually have to do, and I think you will benefit from it (such as the Fort Hays edits) as well.-UCO2009bluejay (talk) 04:53, 20 July 2016 (UTC)

@UCO2009bluejay: I'll keep that in mind, thanks! For some reason, I was thinking that the template wasn't wanted since the bot was changing it... but it all makes sense now. Corkythehornetfan 18:57, 20 July 2016 (UTC)

Just a thought

Thank you for your contributions to TFD. In the future, if you find yourself nominating 30 different templates for essentially the same reason(s), I suggest grouping them together into one discussion. It saves !voters the trouble of making the exact same comment thirty times, and it saves the closers time by not having to close thirty individual nominations. Obviously, if you feel that there are one or two that might not be deleted, feel free to nominate them separately, but in general grouping is acceptable (and often encouraged). Cheers! Primefac (talk) 23:00, 20 July 2016 (UTC)

@Primefac: My apologies. I will definitely do that in the future! Thanks for the suggestion! Corkythehornetfan 23:27, 20 July 2016 (UTC)

Conversation is over.

Please explain how the previous logo violated WP guidelines. Thanks. Pncomeaux (talk) 18:56, 1 August 2016 (UTC)

@Pncomeaux: See WP:NFC#UUI §17. "The logo of an entity used for identification of one of its child entities, when the child entity lacks their own branding. Specific child entity logos remain acceptable." So basically, the primary logo (if non-free) can only be used in the main article for an athletics team. After that, an individual sports logo/wordmark or main athletics wordmark (which are in the Public domain) need to be used. You can read this discussion to learn more.
P.S. re: this edit, please see WP:COMMONNAME. This is the same reason for your school – we do not go by what the university wants to be branded by; we go by the common name. I've reverted your edit. Corkythehornetfan 19:54, 1 August 2016 (UTC)
Sorry, I'm not trying to be difficult, but still do not fully understand the issue.
I've researched the athletic logos for the school (I cannot post them here, but please see page 9 on this link: Brand Guide).
Basically there are four logos: 1) the one that is currently on the main page, which is referred to as the 'main athletic logo', 2) 'Ragin Cajuns' referred to as 'primary athletic wordmark,' 3) 'Louisiana Ragin Cajuns' secondary athletic wordmark, and 4) the interlocking 'UL.'
All four seem to be in the public domain, and the 2nd & 3rd are wordmarks, so why can't one of those be used for the secondary articles?
Thanks
P.s. In re: your p.s.: I understand and agree. However, I also resent the fact that you used the term 'your school' in your message. It is no more 'my school' than ltu is Allison Folley's school. --Pncomeaux (talk) 15:32, 2 August 2016 (UTC)
@Pncomeaux: The "pepper" is what makes it non-free. It's too original to be 'free'. That is why the current interlocking wordmark is being used. Since you work in the Communications dept., you can send permission so it can be in the PD. Also, as I've said before, there is a difference.. I've given you your choices on how to deal with it, so please drop the whole "La. Tech" thing. It's getting ridiculous. Corkythehornetfan 04:14, 3 August 2016 (UTC)
1. The other logos do not have a 'pepper' in them so I don't know why you are stating otherwise.
2. I do not work in any 'communications' dept.
3. I am not in any way being compensated by the university.
4. By making such personal statements about me (which are not even true) you are in direct violation of this policy: Wikipedia:Harassment#Posting of personal information. You need to retract those statements and you owe me an apology. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Pncomeaux (talkcontribs) 14:38, 3 August 2016 (UTC)
  1. Pg. 9 – the apostrophe after' Ragin' is a pepper.
  2. This summary would make people assume otherwise
  3. You have no room whatsoever to be talking about personal info violations after your problem with Allison, which is no different than you and ULL. I don't owe you an apology and I'm not giving one. If you can't seem to get everything that I've suggested through to your head, then this conversation is done. Corkythehornetfan 15:25, 3 August 2016 (UTC)
1 You stated that I am a employee of the school. I am not.
2 When I was informed that I had violated the policy in regards to AF, I immediately removed the content in question and apologized for it.
3 When you are informed of doing the same thing, you double down on it by making an ad hominem attack against me. Your argument seems to be that if I violated the policy, it is okay for you to do so. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Pncomeaux (talkcontribs) 15:37, 3 August 2016 (UTC)

Million Dollars

@Lizard the Wizard: Sorry for not replying sooner, I was out of town and didn't have access to the internet. I, unfortunately, am not able to help... I would ask Frietjes. It looks like she has an editing history at Template:Multiple image. You should be able to place {{NFLPrimaryStyle}} in the |header_background= field, but I'm not able to get it to work (or any color for that matter). My guess is it's something as simple as adding a code to Module:Multiple image, but I'm not that technical to figure it out! lol Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 22:17, 4 September 2016 (UTC)

@Frietjes: Is it possible to add {{NFLPrimaryStyle|San Francisco 49ers}} to replace the background:#AA0000; color:#FFFFFF like we can with the college module? Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 22:32, 4 September 2016 (UTC)

I finally started to check out the pages, the Olympics has been over for a few weeks and haven't had any excuse except laming out. Anyhow, check out the references no. 6 & no. 8. I am not sure how to handle references, and I am not able to cut and paste URLs from the window at the top of my browser, and I'm not about to type them all out, so... Anyhow, hope school is going well, the references I'm referring to are on the Northeastern State page where I just made the edit. Freddiem (talk) 01:07, 7 September 2016 (UTC)

Hello Corkythehornetfan. Your account has been granted the "filemover" user right, either following a request for it or due to a clear need for the ability to move files. Please take a moment to review Wikipedia:File mover for more information on this user right and under what circumstances it is okay to move files. When you move a file please remember to update any links to the new name as well! If you do not want the file mover right anymore, just let me know, and I'll remove it. Thank you, and happy editing! removal of comments

while my removal of comments may not be appropriate I am sick of 'stargzr' vandalizing the article and posting knowingly false comments, this has beengoing on for almost 2 years. The article was granted write protection because of his actions a while back but it was removed for some reason, it needs to be reinstated to prevent him from continuing his campaign of disinformation.Bob80q (talk) 18:21, 11 September 2016 (UTC)

@Bob80q: Then go to an administrator for help. You've been here long enough to know that refactoring others' comments are in violation of the Wiki guidelines. If you continue, I'll report you. There are other ways to deal with this than acting like a damn kid and vandalizing. Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 18:58, 11 September 2016 (UTC)

Please slow down

The "years" portion you are removing as part of multiple (and valid) changes is explicitly shown in Template:Infobox NCAA football school#Examples UW Dawgs (talk) 00:07, 12 September 2016 (UTC)

Resolved, thanks. I also picked up a bit on how Template:OfficialSite data should been originally corrected on wikidata, since many (less USC) changed in the offseason and the old URLs were not 301'd. UW Dawgs (talk) 01:19, 12 September 2016 (UTC)
Then please add it to every NCAA football team article on the Wiki or we need to get a new[er] consensus as to whether it needs displayed or not. Those are not set guidelines as they are just optional. The Pac-12 isn't any more special than the other conferences. And at least make it look half-way decent if you are going to add them and lowercase "present" (e.g. 2011–present). Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 01:26, 12 September 2016 (UTC)
If I may chime in, I prefer it with the years displayed. Its informativeness(?) outweighs any benefit of removing them. Lizard (talk) 03:35, 14 September 2016 (UTC)
@Lizard the Wizard: I'll support it if that's what the Project wants. However, I will only support it if, and only if, we implement it in every NCAA football school article, not just the Pac-12. "Present", IMO, should be lowercase, as well. This is the only way I'll support it. Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 03:55, 14 September 2016 (UTC)
Stringent, are we? What if I manage to convince the project that "PRESENT" should be in all caps, comic sans, and purple? Wouldn't that be a sight eh. Lizard (talk) 04:03, 14 September 2016 (UTC)
lol, yes. We lowercase the word in every other football infobox (coaches to name one), we might as well be consistent and do it for this one, too. Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 04:16, 14 September 2016 (UTC)

Northwestern University Seal

The following discussion is closed. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section. A summary of the conclusions reached follows.
I don't think the user has ever been told "no" in their life and they always get what they want. This will not happen unless the file goes to the Public Domain.

Why are you the modifying the Northwestern Law Wikipedia page? "By reserving the seal for formal, high-profile, and sophisticated communications, we can elevate it to a place of honor and importance. The seal is best reserved for instances such as diplomas, commencement and convocation, formal events, and engravings and architectural etchings." The Northwestern Seal is reserved for all schools within the Northwestern Community. It was previously on the proper location for the Northwestern Law Wikipedia page for numerous years, and it should not have changed. IvyLaw (talk) 17:54, 12 September 2016 (UTC)

@Ivylaw: As I've stated in my edit summaries, the law school is considered a child entity of Northwestern University on Wikipedia per WP:NFC#UUI §17. It doesn't matter what the university says, it matters what the Wikipedia guidelines say. Get it in your head that it cannot be used on the Wikipedia article about the law school. I've filed it for discussion since you obviously don't understand that. Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 17:56, 12 September 2016 (UTC)
Is this what you are referring to: "The logo of an entity used for identification of one of its child entities, when the child entity lacks their own branding. Specific child entity logos remain acceptable."? Northwestern Law has explicitly adopted the seal of its main entity. Thus, it is accurate to use the seal of the main entity for the seal. This template has always been used to include the formal institutional seal on top and the informal institutional logo on bottom. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ivylaw (talkcontribs)
If, and only if, the seal is in the Public Domain, it can be used in the article. Please quit reverting until other editors have weighed in. Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 18:04, 12 September 2016 (UTC):

Not sure where you're getting "it is accurate to use the seal of the main entity for the child seal" at. We don't include the seal in child entity articles; just the main article. You do not WP:OWN the article, therefore I can, and will, edit the article. It's not all about you. Have you ever been told "no" in your life or do you always get what you want? College Colors

Can you show me where the compliance rules for fonts and background colors are located? The Texas Longhorns, Syracuse, and Oklahoma State all have color1 as orange and color2 as white. Wouldn't it be the same for Tennessee? Volman92 (talk) 02:54, 15 September 2016 (UTC)

@Volman92: Please read WP:CONTRAST. Texas (as do the other schools you mention) has a darker orange (burnt orange) than Tennessee, so the white is compliant for Texas, but not Tennessee. "Smokey"-colored font definitely is not compliant with orange, but black is. We don't go by what the university wants (except for the hex codes), but we go by what is compliant with WP:ACCESS, whether it is or isn't what the university wants. Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 03:07, 15 September 2016 (UTC)
Ok. Thanks for the info and clarifying for me. It's too bad black's the only color that works with UT Orange. It looks awful. Volman92 (talk) 04:24, 16 September 2016 (UTC)
I agree, but it's better than not being able to read it. Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 04:26, 16 September 2016 (UTC)

Lester Holt

You left a message on my talk page but requested that I respond to it if at all on yours, so here it is:

Voter registration records are public records. Public records are a reliable source. The reference to them is an in-text attribution.

Honestmedia (talk) 18:29, 18 September 2016 (UTC) Honestmedia 09/18/16 11:25AM

@Honestmedia: Do you have a specific link that is supposedly "in-text attribution"? I can't find one... You still need to provide a reliable source when adding new content to an article. Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 18:33, 18 September 2016 (UTC)
You apparently need to read the Wikipedia rules in greater detail. I'm not required to provide a link. As I pointed out in our last talk, voter registration records are available to the public and are maintained by a reliable Government source. They can be confirmed through the State of New York Voter Registration office. Honestmedia (talk) 20:04, 18 September 2016 (UTC)
NO where in the article is a source that states he is a democrat. How about YOU read the guidelines and follow them. I've asked for a link that is "apparently in the article", but yet you can't seem to provide one. You've been warned in the past for edit warring, and if you don't stop, I'll report you for violating that and disruptive editing. Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 21:29, 18 September 2016 (UTC)
I would like to see you pass a supposed in-line citation without an actual citation somewhere outside of wikipedia, and see if that flies. Simple, if you would simply link where you found this information this scuffle would be over. UCO2009bluejay (talk) 14:02, 19 September 2016 (UTC)
Here please indicate that information. [8]UCO2009bluejay (talk) 14:07, 19 September 2016 (UTC)
Public records are verifiable. I found them. You can find them too. I've stated where I read them. I've satisfied the Wikipedia rules. You are the only person who keeps deleting this very important information about the upcoming debate. That's probably because it is you who are wrongful here. Be careful because it is you who could lose your editing privilege. Honestmedia (talk) 16:41, 19 September 2016 (UTC)

@Honestmedia: But you have to provide them ON WIKIPEDIA. It isn't a matter as to if it's verifiable or not; it's a matter of it should be included in the article so it can be verified. If you look at the link above, it shows he's a Republican (see here). Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 17:05, 19 September 2016 (UTC)

Corky, I may be wrong but if you didn't cite your source in one of your college papers at best the information would be challenged, or would the most likely scenario be you would be sent to academic affairs and expelled for plaigairism? Hell HM it is simple prove it and WP:Cite. Otherwise it is a story of he said, he said.UCO2009bluejay (talk) 17:22, 19 September 2016 (UTC)
Hell as a Democrat I would love to see information about media members helping our cause. (tongue emoji) Otherwise, and I'll be more blunt, Honest Media you have one job, cite your source like a good journalist when reporting from another article, like your username would suggest.UCO2009bluejay (talk) 17:26, 19 September 2016 (UTC)
You're damn right we would. I'm getting ready to ask an admin., because I have better things to be dealing with. IMO, because Holt works at a news station that tends to be on the left, that "obviously makes him a democrat." It's like if a black man is walking down the street with his hands in his pockets, he is automatically classified as "suspicious". (probably not the best example, but you get the point... we automatically assume something, and that's what we believe... whether it's right or wrong and nothing will change our mind about it.) Western Michigan seal

Hi Corkythehornetfan,

I'm a bit perplexed by the name calling in your recent edit summary. Guidelines aside (as I didn't know we had one specifically for university seals – could you point me to it?), I reverted because the color I used is the one in Western Michigan University's current Visual Identity Program pdf, which is linked at this page: https://wmich.edu/visualidentity/downloads. It's visible on page 22, but not easily spotted if one were quickly scanning the document. I'd be interested in seeing the link you provided – it was cut off in your edit summary.

Have a nice day.

Two Hearted River (paddle / fish) 19:36, 19 September 2016 (UTC)

@Two Hearted River: I apologize. It's not been a good day. Here is the 2016 VIP booklet: 2016 VIP Booklet. I saw only the one on page 7. IMO, it's probably best to just keep black and white so we aren't constantly changing the colors. Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 19:40, 19 September 2016 (UTC)
I would still like to see the guideline if you can point me to it. Template:Infobox university is silent and in fact shows a color seal. Two Hearted River (paddle / fish) 19:46, 19 September 2016 (UTC)
Reading your summary/posts again, I'm guessing the guideline your referring to is not a Wikipedia guideline but Western Michigan's. I'm not seeing anything in their visual identity guide regarding displaying the seal in black and white vs in color. When I uploaded the light brown version of the seal in 2011, it was on the cover of their visual identity guide (see here). Given that the same version is present in the current guide, and that very little regarding the seal is mentioned as it's not for general use in their community, I think it's the version we should be using here. I'm reinstating it. Two Hearted River (paddle / fish) 23:42, 19 September 2016 (UTC)

Hey Corkythehornetfan (talk), thank you for creating vector versions of National Football League (NFL)-related logos I had previously uploaded to Wikipedia (such as a vector version of the classic Los Angeles Rams helmet, and the logos for the NFL Kickoff game and the NFL International Series). That helps me out a lot. Charlesaaronthompson (talk) 07:00, 5 October 2016 (UTC)

@Charlesaaronthompson: Sorry, you'll be getting a lot of notifications. I am just going down the list on big.espn.com and nflcommunications.com and replacing all images with vectors... would you still like to be notified on your talk page if an image you've uploaded is orphaned or would you rather have me not post them? Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 21:05, 10 October 2016 (UTC)
@Corkythehornetfan: Yes, please still notify me on my talk page if an image I've uploaded is orphaned. Also, any luck or an update on credentials for MLBPressbox.com? Charlesaaronthompson (talk) 19:54, 12 October 2016 (UTC)
@Charlesaaronthompson: Alrighty, I'll still notify you. My only request is to not ping me in your replies for the notices. Also, I haven't heard from MLB, and I've tried contacting them several times. Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 20:15, 12 October 2016 (UTC)
@Corkythehornetfan: OK, I will do my best to not ping you in my replies. Damn, that's frustrating that you haven't heard from MLB. They have a section on the MLBPressbox.com website for "Logos and Headshots", which is why I've been trying to gain access to that site (to see if there's any official MLB club color information). CBS Sunday Morning Image

Thank you for checking the non-free image, File:New CBS Sunday Morning Logo.jpg, but I looked at the article it is to be used in, CBS News Sunday Morning, and it appears that it is currently being used in the article. I'm sure this was just a simple case of oversight. If there are any issues, please feel free to leave another comment on my talk page. Thank you! HDH122298 19:16, 9 October 2016 (UTC)

@HDH122298: I marked your image as orphaned because a PNG version has been uploaded and replaced the jpg in the article. The png is cleaner and complies with WP:NFCC guidelines with the size.Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 19:27, 9 October 2016 (UTC)

No biggie! I figured that you weren't aware of the situation. You can always look at the bottom of the file page to see if it is being used or not. Kent State basketball.svg colors

For the file File:Kent State basketball.svg, I'm not sure about the colors, particularly the brown/dark gold part. The image created for the SVG comes directly from the Guide to Visual Standards (page 16), so in looking at the difference, the shade of brown/dark gold now on the eagle head looks off. It's very much a dark gold in the original, but the alteration gives it a definite blue hue. I'd think it's safe to leave it at the original or your first edit since it's directly from the primary source. Whether or not it precisely matches the hex code for the official school colors doesn't seem like a major issue, especially when the color mainly in question is complimentary. --JonRidinger (talk) 14:54, 8 November 2016 (UTC)

@JonRidinger: please see the new brand guide from October 2016. I took the colors from there. All others came from here. Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 15:01, 8 November 2016 (UTC)

I still have a couple to update (baseball, football) with the new color change, as well as reducing them down below 400 x 400 so they comply with Wiki guidelines, but that will be done today or tomorrow. I haven't seen you around lately, so glad to see you're still keeping an eye on things! Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 15:16, 8 November 2016 (UTC)

File:Kent State athletic logo.svg

On File:Kent State athletic logo.svg, would you be able to make "Kent" the same size as "State"? I know it's straight from the guide, but it appears to be an error based on the other versions of the logo visible on the left of that page (grayscale, monocolor, and two-color). I've seen other errors like that in earlier Visual Guides for the logo, which is why I think that may be the case. I'm going to email the Athletic Department and ask them specifically, but my guess is it's a publishing error based on the other versions. --JonRidinger (talk) 15:19, 8 November 2016 (UTC)

@JonRidinger: Sure, I'll do that today or tomorrow. Thanks for pointing it out, I didn't notice the difference! Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 16:29, 8 November 2016 (UTC)
Thanks! Here's the reply I got today from Robert Louis, executive director of KSU Creative Services: "That appears to be a rendering error when the PDF was made ADA compliant. The original file had embedded artwork – ADA requires placed art and it appears it was corrupted then. The logo artwork files are correct. The rendering issue will be corrected when we update the guide later this semester. Thanks for bringing this to our attention." --JonRidinger (talk) 17:26, 8 November 2016 (UTC)

NBA Media Central access

Hello Corkythehornetfan, I was wondering if you had been able to gain access to the NBA Media Central website? The username and password used to both be nbamedia (sic), but the league changed it not too long ago so that someone would have to register to gain access. I registered back in June, and have still not heard back from them. At this point, I don't know what I can do about gaining access to that website. Northwest Missouri State football playoff table

I want your thoughts on this. Can you even read this ugly monstrocity? Certainly this would violate WP:Color specifically with some blue links I can't even read. I am wondering what you think about shifting it to something similar that I created on the UCO football page or would you rather I use the Appalachian State playoff page format (albeit it is a separate page) that I've been tinkering with in my sandbox.UCO2009bluejay (talk) 03:05, 17 December 2016 (UTC)

@UCO2009bluejay: NW has been on my todo list for a while now. Between the postseason and season-by-season results, they both need to be converted to something other then the mess they're in right now. I like the table in your sandbox, but I think there is too much in it. Personally, the date or season needs to go. If you list the date, others will already know the season it is. Just make sure not WP:OVERLINK. I like this layout too, mainly because it combines the columns so there is no overlinking, but that can easily be done in yours. Just my opinion, though. Let's go with the one in your sandbox. Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 04:05, 17 December 2016 (UTC)
Do you have time to convert them? My computer has crashed and I only have an iPad to work from, so I probably won't be editing like I want. I saw you created the 2015 Bearcats, thanks! Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 04:05, 17 December 2016 (UTC)
First, and foremost having a computer crash on you sucks. I've had it happen before, and if you are still a student this really sucks. Now to the matter at hand I do plan on working on it, I wasn't going to ask and dump (although I do have wiki-A.D.D. sometimes.) The "season" parameter is more of a link for the team hense, the cfb link I used to remind you of all the time. The Appie State format I borrowed from follows what is already in all of the Category:Lists of college bowl games by team. I just think the UCO one (I borrowed it from somewhere I just can't remember) is too simplistic. However, with all of the appearances NW has certainly a fork could work, and simply replace the section with a link and prose. As for the seasons yes that is an eyesore, and frankly creating a separate list of seasons article has been on my to do list for years.UCO2009bluejay (talk) 04:15, 17 December 2016 (UTC)
BTW just so we aren't confused List of Appalachian State Mountaineers playoff games.UCO2009bluejay (talk) 04:18, 17 December 2016 (UTC)
Yep, I'm still a student. I have yet to figure out what I am going to do next with this computer thing. As for the football, thanks. I completely missed that link... I wasn't able to find it and apparently I was thinking seasons was the article in question. lol I still like the UCO/App. State one (whichever one you choose), but the rows still need combined so that there is less overlinking. Both postseason and season lists should be on a separate article. Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 18:09, 17 December 2016 (UTC)
Still working on it, but I think we may have to talk about the overall standard soon. Now quick question. Do we update Dorrel now or wait until ACU formally introduces him.
