Broads Travel

edit

The article Broads Travel has been speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This was done because the article seemed to be about a real person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, but it did not indicate how or why the subject is notable, that is, why an article about that subject should be included in Wikipedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the notability of the subject may be deleted at any time. If you can indicate why the subject is really notable, you are free to re-create the article, making sure to cite any verifiable sources.

Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, and for specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for musicians, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. NawlinWiki (talk) 03:25, 9 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Image source problem with Image:Moor Hall Hotel 3.jpg

Image Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading Image:Moor Hall Hotel 3.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 14:50, 11 August 2008 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. J Milburn (talk) 14:50, 11 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion of The George Hotel, Lichfield

edit

A tag has been placed on The George Hotel, Lichfield requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words.

If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must include on the external site the statement "I, (name), am the author of this article, (article name), and I release its content under the terms of the GNU Free Documentation License, Version 1.2 and later." You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Ged UK (talk) 19:15, 20 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

The sad part is that the hotel itself is notable. That does not allow us to violate the copyright of the author(s) of the article which was cut and pasted into the Wikipedia article. I suggest you create an article which does not include the copyright violations, as the hotel does have a long history worthy of chronicling. --Orange Mike | Talk 19:27, 20 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
Did you actually read the above? How many George Hotels are there? Do you not think it rather arrogant to post the article to The George Hotel? What is the point of posting the same text when you have been told that it is a copyvio? — RHaworth (Talk | contribs) 06:02, 22 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
Hi there, just to clarify. The Hotel itself is notable enough to be used in Wikipedia. However, you CANNOT just copy and paste info from another site, that's simply illegal. Feel free to actually write the article in your own words using sources, I'm more than willing to help. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask me. For example, see the Moor Hall Hotel article that you've contributed to. Compare that article to the official website; the information from there (and other sources) has been re-written as a new article, rather than just copy and pasted. I am sorry about the name of The George Hotel, Lichfield article. I did not even think about the other hotels and i will bear that in mind for future posts.

I have the copywrite for the information and so I can post the information onto Wikipedia. Can you advise me on what to do to stop my work from being deleted again when i post the history on the hotel using text that I am allowed to use? -- Craig burns uk (talk) 03:02, 23 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

If you own the copyright, the only way it can be copied to wikipedia is as follows. If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must include on the external site the statement "I, (name), am the author of this article, (article name), and I release its content under the terms of the GNU Free Documentation License, Version 1.2 and later." To clarify, you have to make the assertion on the original page. Hope this helps. Otherwise simply rewrite the version for wikipedia. Ged UK (talk) 10:07, 23 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of File:George 1.JPG

edit

A tag has been placed on File:George 1.JPG requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is an unused redundant copy (all pixels the same or scaled down) of an image in the same file format, which is on Wikipedia (not on Commons), and all inward links have been updated.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag - if no such tag exists then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hangon tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.
